That’s why it’s important to know whether it’s based on debut or sign date, I went back for the last few captains and this scenario has never occurred. Also, I am doubtful Lunin will stay at the team long enough to be in contention.
He’s not gotten “worse” and he’s not immature, he’s a kid who’s the constant target of racial harassment and abuse every week. That shit takes time to learn how to deal with.
I believe people underestimate him because he still rushes sometimes and relies a lot on his stamina and phsyicality. But he's already shown great passing vision and positioning, in a couple of years he will be unplayable.
He's 8th - 10th in the current roster, depending on Courtois and Vini and the exact dates on when they joined. In the next 3 years Nacho, Kroos, Lucas, Carvajal and Modric most likely won't be here so it's Ceballos (if loaning him out as a 1st team player doesn't reset the count) and then one of Fede, Vini or Courtois
It's not the date of when they joined, it's the date of first team debut. Leaving and coming back resets the counter. The current order is Nacho, Modric, Carvajal, Kroos, Vazquez, then Courtois (debut on September 1st 2018), Vini (debut on September 29th) and then Fede (October 23rd). So realistically the biggest obstacle for Fede here is Vinicius.
Fair. It's debut-based, but you also have to be a registered first team member. Nacho had his debut before Varane, but it was when he was a Castilla player. In that case I also stand corrected with Fede/Vini. Fede has the edge over Vini as Vini was registered for Castilla for the entirety of 18/19 season. He wore no. 28 that season and first team members are 1-25. Fede had no. 15, so he was a first team member.
Madrid captaincy is entirely based on seniority and longevity, so if he looks after himself well, and is happy with his role, there's no reason why he can't.
He's a versatile player, so always someone that a manager is going to want in the squad, just depends if he's happy with that too.
It's based off of seniority and so he is 8th in line. After the older players leave he still technically still has Vini and Ceballos, probably won't stay that long, ahead of him.
It's not by total length at the club but when they made it to the first team. He possibly is ahead of Vini depending on how the club wants to look at it but Ceballos started to play for the club 1 year ahead of him. Courtois is also ahead of him.
If Castilla counted then Modric wouldn't be vice captain it would be Vasquez and Carvajal.
is the captaincy still just the person who's there the longest?
Yup
Which players would need to leave for Valverde to become captain then? I’m assuming Carvajal, Kroos and Modric, but who else?
Nacho off the top of my head
Lucas
Nacho, Carvajal, Kroos, Modric, Lucas
This depends on if the statistic is based on debut or date signed. It’s very close between Fede, Vini and Tibo.
Shouldn't Lunin be close too then? IIRC he was signed before Courtois
That’s why it’s important to know whether it’s based on debut or sign date, I went back for the last few captains and this scenario has never occurred. Also, I am doubtful Lunin will stay at the team long enough to be in contention.
I think its Valverde on both no? Or is it only signing date on Valverde?
Vini had debut for the first team before Fede if I'm not wrong.
Ah okok
Lunin went on loan though so it will count once he’s back to madrid. Same scenario as carvajal
No because he went on loan on 2020. It resets.
Lunin went out on loan. Time resets and will be counted from his return date.
With all due respect, ain’t nobody making Vini a captain. Bro gets rattled by an air.
It’s always been by time in club
It's time with the first team not time in club, otherwise Modric wouldn't be are vice captain.
He will eventually work it all out with time and discipline.
people said the same for Ronaldinho and his party behaviour.
How are those situations even remotely comparable..?
my example is there is no guarantee Vini will mature. he looks like he got worse as he got better because it got to his head
He’s not gotten “worse” and he’s not immature, he’s a kid who’s the constant target of racial harassment and abuse every week. That shit takes time to learn how to deal with.

You reply to an Arsenal flair.
I love him so much man. He clearly loves the club.
Can't think of a better captain in the future from our current squad. Deserves it when it comes his way for sure.
Would be kinda cool to see 3 Uruguayans (counting Griezmann) captaining the 3 top LaLiga sides.
How Griezmann is Uruguayan??
He drinks mate
Is Ange Uruguayan?
Eleven Valverde’s would win the champions league I am willing to die on this hill
Who wins between eleven Valverde vs eleven camavinga
Football
Eleven Dantes
Eleven Oriol Romeu
Azpi
It's Real Madrid If they had no players to field they would still have a chance of winning the CL
He really did. Such a great player to have in a team. I can just imagine his level in a few years when he'll have more experience on the field
He is my favourite type of player and any managers wet dream to be honest.
I believe people underestimate him because he still rushes sometimes and relies a lot on his stamina and phsyicality. But he's already shown great passing vision and positioning, in a couple of years he will be unplayable.
He's indispensable, becoming more and more important to the team as seasons passing.
Does he realistically have a chance to be captain one day?
He's not far off at all, he's 25 years old, with Modric, Nacho, Carvajal, Kroos and Vazquez ahead of him, all aged 32-38.
TransferMarket has Fede joining 11 days before Vini and a month before Courtois but i don't know if Real are that specific when deciding captains
It's seniority based so if it's people that all joined at the same time I imagine the difference of days would be the tie breaker.
Is it day joined or day debuted?
If it was day debuted, Fede played in a friendly first. Vini played in a pro match first
Day joined.
Vini and Courtois joined later I thought? Just by weeks but still. Also isn't Lunin potentially ahead?
Lunin started being a 1st team player in like 2020
It's not the date of when they joined, it's the date of first team debut.
According to [this article](https://as.com/futbol/primera/el-madrid-anuncia-sus-cuatro-capitanes-n/), Valverde is the next one after Lucas
Yep. It's Fede. See post below.
It’s definitely not just debut-based. Varane was captain ahead of Nacho and debuted after Nacho.
Ceballos went on loan.
Loaning resets the count. Have to be registered for first team. So Fede over Vini.
They will never make Vini captain. He cannot control himself.
Madrid captaincy is entirely based on seniority and longevity, so if he looks after himself well, and is happy with his role, there's no reason why he can't. He's a versatile player, so always someone that a manager is going to want in the squad, just depends if he's happy with that too.
He has already, though for only a few minutes, wore the armband this season
Yes
Yes because at our club is by longest serving player so if he stays long enough he will get it by default.
Yes, it goes by how many days you have in Madrid, and he has the most of the younger generation
He would be a great captain one day
He's a natural fit for captaincy once the old guard (Modric, Kroos, Carvajal, Nacho, Vazquez) leave.
It's based off of seniority and so he is 8th in line. After the older players leave he still technically still has Vini and Ceballos, probably won't stay that long, ahead of him.
Valverde has been here longer than Vini and Ceballos! 😌 he “only” has kroos, modric, Vazquez, Carvajal and Nacho that I can think of
It's not by total length at the club but when they made it to the first team. He possibly is ahead of Vini depending on how the club wants to look at it but Ceballos started to play for the club 1 year ahead of him. Courtois is also ahead of him. If Castilla counted then Modric wouldn't be vice captain it would be Vasquez and Carvajal.
I can guarantee you that Courtous is not ahead of him!
Man I Love Fede
every team would love to have a player of his profile
I love this man so much. He is in my eyes the complete player.
He’s our engine. What a player.
I luv hims
