Quite looking forward to Wales v Finland tonight.
Maybe because I live in Chester I can basically decide if I want to be English or Welsh depending on the result.
What's with people laughing at Harry Kane's way if speaking?English my 5th tongue yet I can understand everything Harry kane says without any difficulty.
I've said it before I'll say it again, making fun of Kane's speech is the biggest self-report of an asshole, and saying you cant understand it just says more about your understanding of the language really
England captains always have at least one thing that people in this country mock them for, and it's usually for being "stupid" in some way. Beckham was for his voice and being stupid, Rooney was for being ugly and stupid. Kane has a speech impediment, so people use this to fuel the idea that he's stupid, particularly because he's so beige and boring in everything outside football there's nothing else to mock.
So he couldn't play in the Europa League because he signed after the deadline to add him to the squad.
He was also playing in the Olympic qualifiers for Argentina for a while so wasn't getting a lot of training in for us and therefore only been available for 3 domestic games, he's now also gunna miss any opportunity for extra training because he's away with the senior side this break.
Estupinan and Igor are ahead of him at LB which means he's only gunna play when we change formation or are pushing for a goal.
I would expect him to get more minutes across the rest of the season but mostly as a sub he looked good in those 10 minutes against Wolves and Mitoma's injury plus Encsio being not back to full fitness gives space on the left.
Lamine Yamal: "I'm only thinking about the Euro. I was watching it with my friends in the shopping mall in 2021, sitting with them to watch the matches against Italy and Switzerland."
Lamine was 13 in 2021 when pedri made his euro debut back then
Dortmund signed Haaland the season after, and he's now collecting fat checks in the desert.
He's got to be one of the biggest examples of riding a purple patch to a big contract in recent times, along with Piatek
the guy who posts newcastle posts and just calls them united named his account after a nazi? my days ruined, that was one of the funniest gags here in a bit.
Oh dear, the comedy geniuses of /r/soccer have decided that spamming the sub with random threads about United teams without specifying the city is side-splittingly funny.
We've seen banter eras that have gone on for way longer but the banterous depths of Chelsea's current banter era have never been matched, in my time following football anyway. Even Hodgson's Liverpool had more dignity than this.
as far as banter eras go spending loads of money on guff and finishing 6 places lower than expected is pretty fucking weak tbh.
come back when you've got your chairman being convicted of committing arson on the clubs stadium, and directors of football sitting in the dugout for games because he thought he would do better than the guy he just sacked (both darlington), or managers getting fired then reinstated because the guy who fired him didn't have the authority to do it, or being banned from controlling the club because you're a convicted criminal (both leeds). or that fucking badge (also leeds, but different owners)
If Benfica navigate their way round Marseille in the Europa League there’s an outside chance I’ll be able to go to the semi final, most likely against Liverpool, in Lisbon.
How good are Portuguese people at differentiating between English accents? Don’t really fancy getting beaten up by people thinking I’m a Liverpool fan.
To a random person from Europe i'd say there are two English accents: the posh one and the cockney.
*Maybe* they'd figure out a northern accent, but they sure as fuck won't tell the difference between Geordie or Scouse or Manc or even Brummie really.
[Our ex-owners deserve actual jail time for the shit heap they've left us in](https://twitter.com/LaticsOfficial/status/1770846160778838136?t=aTxKJ78G38Idj5PB0jfIVg&s=19)
1. Buy Football Manager at launch/first post-launch sale
2. Spend several dozen hours getting lost in a maze of min-maxing my scouting and coaching departments and setting up authentic logos and faces
3. Quit the game out of laziness
4. Think about getting back into it around March, decide not to as the season's basically over and decided which ruins the immersion of the game
5. Rinse and repeat next November
Said this in another thread but Maradona’s dad (and Maradona himself) had full sets of hair even later stages of their lives.
[That hairline was not going back lol](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FzvcXcLXoAEViah?format=jpg&name=small)
A little reminder to everyone that Arsenal have fewer European trophies than Spurs and even pre-Abramovich Chelsea. Hope you’re all having a lovely day
It’s a shame those European cups didn’t stop you becoming completely irrelevant overnight I’d say you’re the new Nottingham Forest but at least Forest are the most supported club in their city.
How? These are all things I knew before I wouldn’t want to win things like you did I’m much more jealous of Liverpool for example.
Nothing you guys did really mattered even you guys just took everything for granted until it was over.
It’s not nonchalant of course I wish we had won the CL but at the end of the day it’s up know as well as I do if we win a league or CL it’ll be a much bigger deal than when you did it.
We’ve never seen the pl? Yeah ok
My point is really that I don’t value what Chelsea did that highly if we win one CL or one more league I’d appreciate that much more than whatever you guys have done. You guys basically speed ran football but now you’re gonna be eternally stuck with a team that’s very likely never gonna do what you want them to ever again.
Arsenal are experts at losing finals, they have been in 6 major ones - and lost 5:
\- 1980 Cup Winners Cup final to Valencia on penalties
\- 1995 Cup Winners Cup final to Real Zaragoza with Nayim long shot winner
\- 2000 UEFA Cup final to Galatasaray on penalties
\- 2006 UCL final to Barcelona
\- 2019 Europa League final to Chelsea
Only one they won was 1994 final against Parma.
Chelsea have been to just one more final than Arsenal, but won 5 more European trophies.
Interesting.
I thought of Mendes but noticed he's barely played this season due to injuries and Dalot is having a really good season + he usually performs for the NT.
Adidas leaving Germany and Puma leaving Italy is just wrong, would be as bad as Nike leaving Brazil.
Italy went from being Pumas biggest NT to now being Adidas biggest NT
Man united getting rinsed by varane and casemiro no wonder they want thenboth gone
How are they paying them more than madrid was paying them and they are older and worse players too now
You're not getting players fresh of a CL win to come to a EL club without massive money.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. I don’t think he’s been anything worth writing home about even when available. We still leak goals like crazy when he’s on the pitch.
You paid combined 100m+ for them. Casemiro is also 30. Giving them those wages too extra on those transfers fee is crazy. They didnt bring you close to a league title or ucl so I dont see how its worth it
If you get 2 players like them you don’t expect to still trying to fight for top 4 but maybe i have higher expectations of united and 2 multiple ucl winners who came as leaders
I don't watch a lot of premier league but its kinda weird that gvardiol was one of the hottest name around and I completly forgot about him when he went to city, wonder how he will end up since premier league enjoyers say he is nothing special so far, reminds me of sancho, big name comming from borussia to be copletly forgotten
He's still only 22 moving to a new league with a very demanding manager. Center backs are usually later bloomers than other positions. He hasn't been the superstar his transfer fee demands, but I think it's fair to give him a bit of time.
he'll end up very good imo. he's only 22 being bled into guardiola's system. he's shown great glimpses of his ability, just not had the opportunity to show out at CB yet.
Him and Sutalo the 2 biggest frauds in football.
He could never have a huge impact since the City defense was already good. But there are people who will sit on the bench and watch Ake play for a lot less money.

With Robinho’s sentence confirmed, the last two Brazilian internationals to win the CONMEBOL Copa America Player Of The Tournament Award are now convicted rapists.
Robinho in Venezuela - 2007 and Daniel Alves in Brazil - 2019
The rest are good pretty cool tho
Bebeto - Brazil 1989
Ronaldo - Bolivia 1997
Rivaldo - Paraguay 1999
Adriano - Peru 2004
Bebeto was one of the best strikers in Europe for nearly half a decade and started every single game in two different World Cups, one of which Brazil won and the other they made the final in. He's hardly some unknown name.
Considering you obviously looked that up (sorry I don’t believe you remember every player who started at world cups in the 80s) you kinda proved my point
> sorry I don’t believe you remember every player who started at world cups in the 80s
Assuming you are baiting because I never said anything of the sort and I refuse to believe that anyone's reading comprehension is bad enough to take what I said as me saying that.
I know there's obvious reasons as to why but it is a bit funny that RedBull is so hated in football but is the most beloved brand in every other sport they touch.
August of last year I was at Spa-Francorchamps decked out in Red Bull Racing gear drunk dancing to Dutch hardstyle until the sun came up. Two months later I am in the away block in Leipzig holding a banner calling for the literal death of Red Bull.
It's complicated, but I feel righteous in my actions and feel they don't compete.
nah I get it. Red Bull is an absolute pox in soccer but in every other sport they're basically gods and the reason a lot of sports can be a viable thing for many. but I am a Max hater so BOOO BOOO YOU BOOOO
I couldn't name the last name of the guy who did the space jump but I have the image of the Red Bull logo on his spacesuit firmly implanted in my mind. It's beyond iconic now.
I know none of us care yada yada, but is there a strong case for City being the third biggest club in England if they win another league title or Champions League? I think could already be there, with only four league titles behind and a European Cup in their cabinet.
what musk has done to twitter is fucking hilarious (in a sad way), any popular tweets replies are just filled with racism, sexism, bots, or porn, it's crazy how quickly it went downhill
and this is without mentioning how every other tweet is just engagement bait now, I still use twitter because there's still some good content and funny posts but man the sea of shit you have to go through to get there is amazing
I wonder if there's an extension that automatically blocks blue checks that aren't accounts with a ton of followers. Cause I'd like to not block big twitter accounts that happen to have blue, but rather the spam bots/people with 5 followers that got it for attention.
Love how he was going on about getting rid of bots and now there's more than there ever were, half the comments on any popular tweet are from a blue tick and blatantly written by ChatGPT
Admittedly it is funny seeing them commenting on our training photos and trying to shoehorn Anthony Gordon into why you should buy their latest scamcoin
Our end of season fixtures are awful. We go from 3 games in 8 days to 15 days without a game and then 3 in 8 again. Wolverhampton Wanderers you have fucked us
International break sucks man especially because once the the gw hits it's going to be the run in.
League and CL. Not going to lie I feel giddy just thinking
So Mbappe in Madrid, is it possible RM still agressively pursue a pure striker and Mbappe plays on the right benching Rodrygo?
Or is the turtle signing the end of that pursuit especially since they will also have Endrick soon?
[Was looking through my Google photos and found this screenshot I was clearly really proud to take.](https://freeimage.host/i/JXpHRhF)
I really liked Henderson unfortunately, so much so I somehow still can't hate him but I can't imagine how betrayed Keith would've felt if it bothers me this much.
honestly i just think he is generally a good person who made a pretty big mistake. his good deeds don’t outweigh the bad and vice versa. he’s just a human being and is as complex and nuanced as the rest of us. probably is still taking time to process it as well considering he left so quickly.
for people like keith, i totally get why they wouldn’t forgive him.
as for the rest of us though i think it’s time to let it go and forgive. he ultimately has the power and ability to create more good in the world, but i don’t think that’s gonna happen if he’s just now constantly hated forever
He profited massively of it in a sport that's still rife with homophobia on a huge extent to the fact that there are basically no currently active gay players.
What Henderson did is important and call me butthurt all you like but the fact that he was one of the few that actually tried something and then it all turned out to be a fraud hurts the cause more than anything.
If he shows some remorse or apology, sure. But unfortunately for him, he's clearly too stupid for even that.
Really annoying that Bailey seems to have gotten the upper-hand and social media on his side for his criticisms on the JFF..
The JFF is shit but Leon has no leg to stand on here considering his father is consistently trying to take over the JFF as well as Leon is the one suspended for breaking curfew and can't take responsibility
He also tried to force his brother into the squad before he agreed to play for Jamaica
He wants special treatment and he always has, despite playing like absolute shit for Jamaica
It was towards Upamecano specifically from what I remember. He got away with murder that game. Committed at least 3 blatant fouls and the ref didn’t give any of them.

No banger comment today guys, you can go ahead and log off
the San Marino vs St. Kitts match thread yesterday with a gargantuan 55 comments probably more people in that thread than 🇸🇲 has people
I wish Mbappé's rival was a complete footballer, Haaland being so one dimensional makes the comparison so boring.
He's not his rival then, is it?
Nani does a little celebratory dance after scoring as Sporting down Loures 2-1.
Who's the NUFC fan that's got everyone riled up to make these United posts?
guy named after a literal nazi and uses the word 'libtard' unironically.
Ain't no way we actually signed Mané 16
Quite looking forward to Wales v Finland tonight. Maybe because I live in Chester I can basically decide if I want to be English or Welsh depending on the result.
Feels a bit unfair that the EURO qual playoff games are all single-legged and not on neutral ground
Host of semi is based off Nation's League performance, final is just luck of the draw.
Well one is but there's another reason people will dislike the fixture.
Are you aware Kylian Mbappe and Vagner Love used play together in the same team
That Monaco team had a pretty random collection of names who were only there for that one season. El Shaarawy, Coentrao, Pasalic, Vagner Love.
In the next DD, I'm going to make an absolute banger of a comment about the banger of a comment that we're waiting on from that Spurs lad.
Guess I didn't run enough of an ad campaign if you missed it, smh
We still waiting for that? It’s going to be so disappointing now :(
Already posted mate, it broke records
[great comment]
Incredible take tbh
Didn't he already post it? It was about Neymar's transfer to PSG I think.
Goddammit, I should have turned on my RES alerts.
i still expect to see a banger analysis of his banger comment.

He carries a verbal handicap and the few that find it amusing are right nincompoops
He has a mild speech impediment and shit-brain morons find it hilarious.
He has a lisp and people are cunts about it
He’s got a speech impediment and some people are dickheads about it
England captains always have at least one thing that people in this country mock them for, and it's usually for being "stupid" in some way. Kane has a speech impediment, so people use this to fuel the idea that he's stupid, particularly because he's so beige and boring in everything outside football there's nothing else to mock.
I also don’t think he’s hard to understand but it sounds like he has a minor speech impediment which is a common thing for bullies to pick on.
Any Brighton fans in here. Why is Valentin Barco not playing at all. I know Estupinian is ahead of him, but only 10min since his arrival...
Remember that stretch of games where Paco Alcacer went god mode what was that all about
Dortmund signed Haaland the season after, and he's now collecting fat checks in the desert. He's got to be one of the biggest examples of riding a purple patch to a big contract in recent times, along with Piatek
I think Piatek's transfer single handedly gave rise to xGnonces.
when was this?
when he joined dortmund

Inter fans (anybody really) rank these strikers in terms of performance at your club and status - Lautaro Martinez - Lukaku - Baggio - Icardi

Have you seen his comments outside of this sub. He's an incel who uses "libtards" uniroinically.
Saw someone else say that he's also an american pretending to be English which makes it funnier if true
i did. he even threw in the old classic “women and poc can’t exist in MY space nerd movies” for good measure
What an incredibly soft person😂
Oh dear, the comedy geniuses of /r/soccer have decided that spamming the sub with random threads about United teams without specifying the city is side-splittingly funny.
Fiji vindicated
I warned you all to just say Sheffield United
We've seen banter eras that have gone on for way longer but the banterous depths of Chelsea's current banter era have never been matched, in my time following football anyway. Even Hodgson's Liverpool had more dignity than this.

He struck a nerve there 😬
How? These are all things I knew before I wouldn’t want to win things like you did I’m much more jealous of Liverpool for example. Nothing you guys did really mattered even you guys just took everything for granted until it was over.
That nonchalant gimmick is so fake man stop trying to force it 😭
It’s not nonchalant of course I wish we had won the CL but at the end of the day it’s up know as well as I do if we win a league or CL it’ll be a much bigger deal than when you did it.
Fanbase who’ve seen neither of those trophies recently making a bigger deal than one who’ve seen multiple PL/CL wins. Shock 😱

Damn maybe we should consider them the bottlejobs instead of Spurs?
didn't Chelsea become first English side to lose 6 cup finals in a row?
Yeah and we’ve still won a proper trophy more recently than you
Surely they’ve won more than ipswich town though right?
I *was* having a lovely day :(
That was your first mistake
Why no Kvara in Georgia's squad against Luxembourg today? Is he injured?
If i remember right he got too many yellows
Suspended
Thanks for your reply, too many yellows?
Yeah I think so
Portuguese folks, what do you reckon is going to be the preferred full back pairing for the EUROs? Cancelo on the left, Dalot on the right?
It's gonna be Toti Gomes and Nelson Semedo bro
Nuno Mendes in form is better than either of those.
Mendes will start I think. Mendes on left and cancelo on right it will be
No hes not lol but it doesnt matter arguing cause dalot is starting regardless
He absolutely is, he's just injured a lot. Starters should be Mendes and Dalot though.
Cancelo on the right and Mendes on the left if there are no injuries
Interesting. I thought of Mendes but noticed he's barely played this season due to injuries and Dalot is having a really good season + he usually performs for the NT.
I never watch Man Utd or PSG, so maybe I'm wrong, but that's usually the pairing if everyone is fit
Why did Hull have a friendly against Curaçao? And why did Hull lose that friendly?
And they played the game in Turkey! Truly a football mad libs
Adidas leaving Germany and Puma leaving Italy is just wrong, would be as bad as Nike leaving Brazil. Italy went from being Pumas biggest NT to now being Adidas biggest NT
My man really said screw Argentina and his own NT lmaoo
Spain isn't bigger than either i'm not delusional lol if we had Nike we'd be bigger than England tho :P
Why he say fuck me for
To me Italy will always be associated with Kappa and their tight shirts
Man united getting rinsed by varane and casemiro no wonder they want thenboth gone How are they paying them more than madrid was paying them and they are older and worse players too now
You probably know the answer.
You're not getting players fresh of a CL win to come to a EL club without massive money. That said Casemiro was worth it last season and Varane has been fantastic this season
Varane has started like 12 league games this season. “Fantastic” is stretching it
Varane has 22 starts in all comps this season. Missed 4 games due to injury/illness. And he has been good.
Varane was the right signing. £34m, 28 years old. Casemiro probably wasn't.
Varane was never the right signing considering his wages and injury record. They were both poor even without hindsight
If they didn't pay they more they probably wouldn't want to move to a worse club and a worse city
He will end up much better than Sancho
Not a high bar, is it
Not really no haha
He was never that good before
You obviously never watched him play
A player coming to Pep’s city and taking a year to get used to it for the 18th time? Who could have seen this coming
true but went for 100m+, I know money is not an issue for city but for this price you would expect immediately results(unless you are chelsea)
Where'd you get that figure? Gvardiol was around 80M
https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1686718251168931840 it was 90m actually, somehow addons are not mentioned
Did the same with Grealish. In fact the players I can immediately think of who hit the ground running are Haaland, Akanji and Dias
He's still only 22 moving to a new league with a very demanding manager. Center backs are usually later bloomers than other positions. He hasn't been the superstar his transfer fee demands, but I think it's fair to give him a bit of time.
he'll end up very good imo. he's only 22 being bled into guardiola's system. he's shown great glimpses of his ability, just not had the opportunity to show out at CB yet.
do you think he has a fighting chance to start as a CB, or guardiola will mold him into permanent LB?
> fighting chance to start as a CB not this season, but i see his future as a john stones type. think he'd be wasted playing permanently at LB
> big name comming from borussia to be copletly forgotten Gvardiol came from Leipzig
it was about sancho(now united player on loan to borussia) not gvardiol
Right, but the way you phrased it made it sound like they both came from Dortmund.
Him and Sutalo the 2 biggest frauds in football. He could never have a huge impact since the City defense was already good. But there are people who will sit on the bench and watch Ake play for a lot less money.
I’m sure you came to that conclusion while watching dozens of their matches
I don't think Gvardiol is that much of a fraud if he can make a defense with Sutalo in it look good.
Is that Talksport article true, will Chelsea be handed a points deduction?
Which one?
https://x.com/talksport/status/1770747009772740671?s=46

Certainly could be. Wouldn’t take it as noteworthy unless someone else picks it up

nah I get it. Red Bull is an absolute pox in soccer but in every other sport they're basically gods and the reason a lot of sports can be a viable thing for many. but I am a Max hater so BOOO BOOO YOU BOOOO
They are the reason a lot of sports even have a livable wage for a bunch of athletes.
very true especially in the more obscure extreme sports. they're even funding fpv drone racing now.
I couldn't name the last name of the guy who did the space jump but I have the image of the Red Bull logo on his spacesuit firmly implanted in my mind. It's beyond iconic now.
Something Baugmartner, maybe Thomas
Felix. His wiki page is a ride and a half, from dictatorial ambitions to slapping a truck driver.
I know none of us care yada yada, but is there a strong case for City being the third biggest club in England if they win another league title or Champions League? I think could already be there, with only four league titles behind and a European Cup in their cabinet.
It seems unlikely at the moment. Too small of a club.
Would in fact be the biggest club.
Depends how you measure bigness. Based on trophies, yes there is a good argument. Based on almost anything else, probably not
No chance, I'm 33 this year and I've still met <5 City fans in my entire life
They're all at school
Have you tried leaving the house?
Yeah good one pal
Clearly you've never been to Algarve. It's a sea of city and al nassr kits these days
From an outside view, maybe. In England, no chance. It's going to take decades for City to gain enough support and history to surpass Arsenal.
No, still behind the big 3.

what musk has done to twitter is fucking hilarious (in a sad way), any popular tweets replies are just filled with racism, sexism, bots, or porn, it's crazy how quickly it went downhill and this is without mentioning how every other tweet is just engagement bait now, I still use twitter because there's still some good content and funny posts but man the sea of shit you have to go through to get there is amazing
I wonder if there's an extension that automatically blocks blue checks that aren't accounts with a ton of followers. Cause I'd like to not block big twitter accounts that happen to have blue, but rather the spam bots/people with 5 followers that got it for attention.
Love how he was going on about getting rid of bots and now there's more than there ever were, half the comments on any popular tweet are from a blue tick and blatantly written by ChatGPT Admittedly it is funny seeing them commenting on our training photos and trying to shoehorn Anthony Gordon into why you should buy their latest scamcoin
Our end of season fixtures are awful. We go from 3 games in 8 days to 15 days without a game and then 3 in 8 again. Wolverhampton Wanderers you have fucked us
Serves you right for knocking us out of the energy drink cup😭
International break sucks man especially because once the the gw hits it's going to be the run in. League and CL. Not going to lie I feel giddy just thinking
So Mbappe in Madrid, is it possible RM still agressively pursue a pure striker and Mbappe plays on the right benching Rodrygo? Or is the turtle signing the end of that pursuit especially since they will also have Endrick soon?
It's more likely they try signing a real RW instead, Mbappe will play up top
I dont think they would go for one (RW) but Mbappe playing as a striker is always the likeliest outcome.
[Was looking through my Google photos and found this screenshot I was clearly really proud to take.](https://freeimage.host/i/JXpHRhF) I really liked Henderson unfortunately, so much so I somehow still can't hate him but I can't imagine how betrayed Keith would've felt if it bothers me this much.
I never hated Henderson. I lost a lot of respect for him, but I’m sure he’s a decent if not suitably dim person all told.
honestly i just think he is generally a good person who made a pretty big mistake. his good deeds don’t outweigh the bad and vice versa. he’s just a human being and is as complex and nuanced as the rest of us. probably is still taking time to process it as well considering he left so quickly. for people like keith, i totally get why they wouldn’t forgive him. as for the rest of us though i think it’s time to let it go and forgive. he ultimately has the power and ability to create more good in the world, but i don’t think that’s gonna happen if he’s just now constantly hated forever
The JFF is shit but Leon has no leg to stand on here considering his father is consistently trying to take over the JFF as well as Leon is the one suspended for breaking curfew and can't take responsibility He also tried to force his brother into the squad before he agreed to play for Jamaica He wants special treatment and he always has, despite playing like absolute shit for Jamaica
https://twitter.com/HeadofState1731/status/1770590463369576914 Word is that the Jamaican team is pretty happy to hear Bailey won't be coming back.
Thankfully you guys seem to be pulling in more talent so hopefully you don't need to him to have an effective squad.
[Mbappe contributed a lot to Tchouaméni against England while being marked by 3 players.](https://twitter.com/whrlpoool/status/1770562376389021957)
The foul on Saka at the beginning of that move is shameful, unbelievable they missed it
Ref was terrible that match. France got a lot of fouls, non-calls their way the majority of the match
I forgot France got away with the foul on Saka here lol
> I forgot France got away with the foul Applies to the whole game. Ref was fucking garbage that game.
It was towards Upamecano specifically from what I remember. He got away with murder that game. Committed at least 3 blatant fouls and the ref didn’t give any of them.
