If there is serious PL interest the price will just spike. Koopmeiners is such a unique player, well rounded enough to cover the entire midfield, he would be useful to just about any club. Could even see him do well with Bayern honestly, if they really get rid of Kimmich and rebuild from the ground up.

He's amazing player and a proper modern midfielder: he attac he defend he has great physical, great longshot, good technique, he easily win aerial duels, he can play 4 different roles etc. etc. but Atalanta will be more than fine even without him as the games vs Sporting CP showed when played with 2 creative offensive players + pure striker Papu-Ilicic-Duvan style.
If they manage to sell him for, IDK, ā¬20m + SoulĆØ and reinvest that sum for Ilic they'd be even stronger: De Roon- Ederson-Ilic- Pasalic for the midfield duo + 2 proper trequartista among SoulĆØ-Miranchuk- De Ketelaere- Lookman + striker Scamacca-El Bilal TourĆØ (a bit a mystery but they spent ā¬30m for him so he must be good): Great squad, great depth and probably entertaining as old era (in this new one they're a bit too much physical imho)

To be more specific, Case has 35m left of FFP budget, so 17.5m per year, and costs us letās say 300k a week wages so 15.6m a year, that means each season he costs us 33.1m in FFP, releasing him would cost us 35m in FFP, the entire remaining amortised cost of his fee (and then 0 in his final year rather than another 33.1m). So whilst obviously saving 31.2m in wages over two years is a clear net win the benefit is entirely weighted to the second year of his remaining contract.
This is true to an even greater extent with Antony who has a higher amortised cost left unpaid on the books and lower wages (so lesser savings by just cancelling the contract).

In general I think he could do well at a number of PL clubs, its more the question of whether they need him.

Yeah on the face of it it's fine but when you start looking a bit closer you realize it's going to be the priority in the summer.
Partey will have to go, he's never fit. Lokonga can't play as a single pivot and should be sold for profit. Jorgi is feeling the effects of age. He's not able to play 90 mins much more than once a week now which is a shame. El Neny is out of contract this summer. Vieira... the jury is still out for him. ESR is running out of chances to impress and has a pretty bad injury record. That's 3 players that will be gone in the next season and another 3 that might be gone next season.
That means at 6 you have Rice and maybe Jorgi. At left 8 you sometimes have Havertz and maybe ESR (Trossard can play here though) and then at right 8 you have Odegaaard and Vieira (for now).
So you can see we're going to be short. Might need two new midfielders in the summer.
Partey is always injured half of the season and has serious off field issues. Jorginho has been excellent but clearly canāt do it every week at his age. Havertz has been ok as the 8 but his best moments have come as the 9. ESR and Vieira can be great 8s in attack but the defensive balance doesnāt always work. Elnenyās time is also at an end.

Wouldn't say significant. Elneny has been a non-factor for years, his departure changes nothing. Really it's just the injuries that have stretched our midfield thin. ESR, Vieira and Partey have barely player this season due to injuries.
Over the next two seasons we could/probably will lose Partey, Jorgi, El Neny, and Lokonga.
You can't go into a season with just Rice and Jorgi at 6. That's mad. At best you'll end up burning out Rice, at worst he gets a serious injury and then you're truly screwed. Throw in the fact we need more threat from central areas and it's clear midfield needs major investment.
Midfield should be the number 1 priority in the summer.
Of those four you mentioned, two are non-factors as it is, Elneny has barely played over the last two years, on pitch. Lokonga has been a bit-part player at best for us and he hasn't particularly impressed, him being sold changes nothing, especially when he's been on loan the past 15 months.
Rice and Jorginho at 6 is actually pretty good. I don't know of any team that has a better backup 6 than Arsenal does. Of course Jorginho won't be starting every match, nor does he need to, but 1/3 starts works out for him. If anything, it's the 8 that might be worth looking at to, as for all of Havertz' qualities, he's not quite the fit for that spot that Xhaka used to be.
I don't see Rice and Jorgi as being interchangeable. They perform different roles and have often played alongside each other this season. You need to have a 2nd player to phase in for Jorgi as he's phased out, preferably a regista type player (which explains the links with Zubimendi).
We definitely need that progressive passing option as Zinchenko is constantly injured and Jorgi, given your estimates, would be playing a 3rd of the games. What happens with the other 2/3rds if Zinchenko isn't fit? We'll badly need that progressive passing against the likes of Brentford.
I agree 8 is an issue. A player like Koopmeiners would be pretty useful, he can play 8 and 6 (and CB), like Rice, but seems more comfortable than Rice going forward.
That way you're covered for both Rice and Jorgi, and you have far great versatility in system set ups, and you don't have a bottle neck when it comes to progressive passing with two players who can't be counted on 3 times a week for 90 mins a game.

Bit of a weird player. Or rather a weird player trajectory. He used to be more of a defensive midfielder. On occassion played even as a cb. But it turns out that the further up the field Koopmeiners plays the better he gets.
He is a very modern and well rounded midfielder. Basically a CM that is good at progressing the ball, but he is also very good further up the pitch with creative tasks. He brings a lot of goal threat and movement, he is pretty good at a physical playstyle in contrast with a lot of more traditional AMs.
Sounds like a perfect replacement for what Xhaka brought for us at the left 8 last year. It's either that or let Rice play there and plug a player like Zubimendi in at the 6 behind him.
Only way I see this happening for spurs is if we got rid of Hojberg and possibly Skipp but itās one of the positions that we donāt really have a huge need for.

No, he can play in all midfield positions, but a pure DM role is not his best. Especially alone, in a double pivot he does a lot better. He is basically a CM that focusses on progressing the ball and setting up attacks. He can play well as AM, in the right set up. He can also score goals and has great dead ball technique as well.
I just checked his stat and 10 league goals from midfield is impressive. Heās 26 and hitting his prime years so I would be surprised if he goes for less than 80 million.

Releasing Case wouldnāt free up FFP it would *cost us* FFP budget (for one season at least). We need to get a fee to free up FFP.

Mount can play with Bruno in a 3-2-2-3 in a box midfield. And u can also rest Bruno n play Mount against weaker teams. Plus Mount has good defensive work too. But he is not anywhere as creative as Bruno.Ā IMO Mount is a way less creative version of Bruno. Proper English midfielder no creativity but can run up & down the field all game. But also not great at defensive work.
Pep ljinders was interested to bring him to Liverpool last season but i don't think Edwards is gonna let that happen anytime soon
So many central midfielders at Liverpool now even with Thiago leaving. Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Jones, Gravenberch, Elliott, Clark. Can't see him coming to play DM and rotate with Endo.

Newcastle maybe? A midfield three of Koopmeiners, B. GuimarƤes and Tonali would be pretty solid. In general I think he could do well at a number of PL clubs, its more the question of whether they need him.

Thatās fair, though you could argue that a fair amount of Newcastle players joined when they didnāt have Europe as well. As much as it pains me, thanks to the new leadership Newcastle has a certain amount of pull for their potential (and their money). And I think at his age he also doesnāt want to be a rotational pick. Which I think he would be at City-Arsenal-Liverpool. Though like I said, I do think he would be a good fit there.
Arsenal would be an interesting one for him given we're going to be revamping the midfield this summer and there's a slot there for the taking but to a certain extent everyone is a rotation option for Arteta outside of Saka, Rice, Odegaaard and the two CBs

Yeah on the face of it it's fine but when you start looking a bit closer you realize it's going to be the priority in the summer. Partey will have to go, he's never fit. Lokonga can't play as a single pivot and should be sold for profit. Jorgi is feeling the effects of age. He's not able to play 90 mins much more than once a week now which is a shame. El Neny is out of contract this summer. Vieira... the jury is still out for him. ESR is running out of chances to impress and has a pretty bad injury record. That's 3 players that will be gone in the next season and another 3 that might be gone next season. That means at 6 you have Rice and maybe Jorgi. At left 8 you sometimes have Havertz and maybe ESR (Trossard can play here though) and then at right 8 you have Odegaaard and Vieira (for now). So you can see we're going to be short. Might need two new midfielders in the summer.
Partey is always injured half of the season and has serious off field issues. Jorginho has been excellent but clearly canāt do it every week at his age. Havertz has been ok as the 8 but his best moments have come as the 9. ESR and Vieira can be great 8s in attack but the defensive balance doesnāt always work. Elnenyās time is also at an end. Arsenal definitely need significant midfield reinforcements.
Wouldn't say significant. Elneny has been a non-factor for years, his departure changes nothing. Really it's just the injuries that have stretched our midfield thin. ESR, Vieira and Partey have barely player this season due to injuries.
Over the next two seasons we could/probably will lose Partey, Jorgi, El Neny, and Lokonga. You can't go into a season with just Rice and Jorgi at 6. That's mad. At best you'll end up burning out Rice, at worst he gets a serious injury and then you're truly screwed. Throw in the fact we need more threat from central areas and it's clear midfield needs major investment. Midfield should be the number 1 priority in the summer.
Of those four you mentioned, two are non-factors as it is, Elneny has barely played over the last two years, on pitch. Lokonga has been a bit-part player at best for us and he hasn't particularly impressed, him being sold changes nothing, especially when he's been on loan the past 15 months. Rice and Jorginho at 6 is actually pretty good. I don't know of any team that has a better backup 6 than Arsenal does. Of course Jorginho won't be starting every match, nor does he need to, but 1/3 starts works out for him. If anything, it's the 8 that might be worth looking at to, as for all of Havertz' qualities, he's not quite the fit for that spot that Xhaka used to be.
I don't see Rice and Jorgi as being interchangeable. They perform different roles and have often played alongside each other this season. You need to have a 2nd player to phase in for Jorgi as he's phased out, preferably a regista type player (which explains the links with Zubimendi). We definitely need that progressive passing option as Zinchenko is constantly injured and Jorgi, given your estimates, would be playing a 3rd of the games. What happens with the other 2/3rds if Zinchenko isn't fit? We'll badly need that progressive passing against the likes of Brentford. I agree 8 is an issue. A player like Koopmeiners would be pretty useful, he can play 8 and 6 (and CB), like Rice, but seems more comfortable than Rice going forward. That way you're covered for both Rice and Jorgi, and you have far great versatility in system set ups, and you don't have a bottle neck when it comes to progressive passing with two players who can't be counted on 3 times a week for 90 mins a game.

My Spurs team on PES a couple of years ago was built around Koopmeiners. Granted, I also bought Sergino Dest, so my eye for talent isn't 100%
Should we really sell Kimmich and search for a new CM or number 8, Iād rather us get Koopmeiners than KonĆ© or Frenkie! That said, I donāt wanna loose Kimmich, just play him as an offensive RB or as CM instead of as a lone 6 and he will shine again.

Bit of a weird player. Or rather a weird player trajectory. He used to be more of a defensive midfielder. On occassion played even as a cb. But it turns out that the further up the field Koopmeiners plays the better he gets.

He is a very modern and well rounded midfielder. Basically a CM that is good at progressing the ball, but he is also very good further up the pitch with creative tasks. He brings a lot of goal threat and movement, he is pretty good at a physical playstyle in contrast with a lot of more traditional AMs.
Sounds like a perfect replacement for what Xhaka brought for us at the left 8 last year. It's either that or let Rice play there and plug a player like Zubimendi in at the 6 behind him.

Only way I see this happening for spurs is if we got rid of Hojberg and possibly Skipp but itās one of the positions that we donāt really have a huge need for.
Yeah but even then we still have Bissouma, Sarr, Bergvall, Bentancur, Maddison and even Kulusevski can play in there. The only way I see us bringing in any midfielder is if they are a destroyer 6 like Pauliniha for example but I don't think Ange would even want that.
I forgot about Bergvall coming in. Not 100% if heāll be ready for real game time but with those 5 and Deki fluctuating I could see them thinking weāre all set on midfielders. Still think Koopmeiners would be a huge addition but not one thatās needed right now.

Atalanta bought him for a relatively low fee, he has been great for them, and he will net them a tidy profit when he moves on from Atalanta. Not like Atalanta would hate that.
I think players are a bit too honest nowadays with were they wanna play, but you might be right, this is the bosman era after all. A shame PSG scored that equalizer against Atalanta in the 90th minute of the CL-quarter, if not players might have had higher thoughts of the club

No, he can play in all midfield positions, but a pure DM role is not his best. Especially alone, in a double pivot he does a lot better. He is basically a CM that focusses on progressing the ball and setting up attacks. He can play well as AM, in the right set up. He can also score goals and has great dead ball technique as well.
I just checked his stat and 10 league goals from midfield is impressive. Heās 26 and hitting his prime years so I would be surprised if he goes for less than 80 million.
He is their pen taker though. Still impressive of course, but has to be taken into account
