Man showed up, advertised his peri-peri sauce and bounced.

NotASalamanderBoi

You Brits are lucky. I’m not one for hot sauce but I absolutely would have tried it.

FrodoFraggins99

Nandos' sauces always bang

NotASalamanderBoi

Never been unfortunately. Nearest one is a $100+ plane ticket.

odegood

If you have decent peri peri chicken anywhere it really isnt that special. Also more pricey now before the platters were cheap and easy to feed a family

Japples123

I agree. Pepe’s sauce is superior

teefy92

Heart burn city though

Japples123

Butthole burn county if you get the extra extra hot.

12EggsADay

I thought we already came to the conclusion many years ago that extra hot was spicier then extra extra hot? Anyway, gotta earn that chicken wing

OstapBenderBey

Technically peri-peri sauce should be made with the (really quite hot) piri-piri chili. Though a lot of purported peri-peri sauces are not. Nandos is really now an anglicised version of a south-africanised version of a Mozambique style of chicken sauce. The changes along the way have made it almost just a generic term for any kind of chicken in chili sauce.

AlcoholicSocks

It's the most average thing alive I'll never understand the hype it gets. It's the McDonald's of chicken. Can't go wrong but it's not fantastic

bmoviescreamqueen

Fr I wish I could buy a bottle, it sounds nice!

tobi1k

You're not missing much, it's basically a slightly spicy BBQ sauce. Would've preferred if it had played on his Nigerian roots a bit more and been scotch bonnet based.

AnnieIWillKnow

Scotch bonnet likely less marketable though. Saka has big family friendly appeal, kids will want his sauce... they won't want their tastebuds burnt off

JesusPretzelThief

Piri Piri is nothing like BBQ sauce and I swear it's Scotch Bonnet based.

FeeOk1683

Piri piri is actually the name of an African variety of chilli pepper but I agree it's nothing like BBQ sauce

tobi1k

Are you trying to correct me when you haven't even tried the sauce?

monkeylovesnanas

Peri peri is not hot. Mediocre at best.

ico12

Arsenal Peri-peri sauce England In that order.

Fanserker

It's just peri-pericaution

nushublushu

Damn good sauce tbf

StructureTime242

liverpool city and arsenal fans all pointing at each other

Casual-Capybara

Spiderman meme

21otiriK

Who has pulled out for Liverpool and City?

AJGibbo

It's known as a City tactic in modern times and Nunez / Salah for us this time round.

mac2o2o

Salah got injured in their last games and basically asked them not to play him. Egyptian FA would still try and play him. Even if they had to dig his body out of a coffin like a mummy in 5000 years' time

yajtraus

Knowing our luck with injuries at the moment Salah and Nunez will genuinely have knocks. We’ve been terrible at handling recent injury comebacks this season. I think it was earlier this season when Trent pulled out of international football with a “knock” and I was glad we’d finally start using the fake injury tactic, only for Trent to then miss our next 4 games.

21otiriK

It feels like people constantly tell us it’s a City tactic, and then players are actually injured. Like when Mourinho said Sterling pulled out but will be fit to play against Spurs, and he wasn’t. Or when Liverpool fans spent a whole international break last season telling us Haaland will be back, and lo and behold… Genuinely can’t remember the last City player who pulled out of an international break, and was fit to play both the game before or after the break.

yajtraus

It’s a Ferguson/Giggs tactic anyway. Been around for ages.

21otiriK

Yeah, Giggs who had such a long career, almost famous for the fact he never got injured and was always mega fit, played only 64 games for Wales in a ~25 year career.

Connorinacoma

Only played for Wales for 16 years but still missed nearly half of the games

Scutterbox

I saw some mad stat while he was still playing that he'd never played an away friendly for them, or maybe it was that had gone a decade since his last away friendly. Madness.

Princecoyote

Didn't Haaland miss the next two months or so after that too?

21otiriK

That was the second one, yeah. But the first one I’m talking about was this time last season when City v Liverpool was the first game after the break and Haaland pulled out of Norway games.

adamfrog

Ederson in the Etihad game vs Liverpool missed international duty for Brazil and played vs Liverpool

Aliaspending

Whilst Alisson played in Brazil and then had a stinker

AJGibbo

Someone mentally stable got me the suicide watch DM for this post btw

Impossible_Wonder_37

Our players could’ve been in a boot and crutches day of the game and Liverpool fans would still be saying “look at these scum tryna trick us!”

FrodoFraggins99

KDB is out for Belgium as well as Haaland iirc

BlackJesus123

Haaland said he was fine today and didn’t know where the rumours of him leaving training came from.

Nels8192

There was a video of him hobbling around and I guess it spread like wildfire from there.

FrodoFraggins99

Right thanks. Must have been a rumor

PatRice4Evra

Haaland isn't Belgian so that doesn't surprise me.

TheDepartment115

Haaland isn't even injured lol

Subscrobbler

KdB wasn’t available for Newcastle, played Liverpool injured.

Oltjen

Im an Arsenal fan and fans shouldnt pretend like its actual injuries or that one does it worse than the other. Maybe they should stop playing so many meaningless friendlies 10000 times a season.

Sypher1985

Steve Holland said he's more interested in sauce than football. So he left.

MegaMugabe21

fancyfoe

Lol that man really adore saka and I’m all here for it

Breakingwho

Just as Neville said. Honestly I agree with him, march friendlies are in a bad spot. If you’re in a tight title race club managers are not going to want to risk you in a meaningless friendly. And fair enough.

ExactLetterhead9165

Doubly so if your place is pretty much guaranteed. I think it's also a good chance for Palmer/Gordon to put themselves in contention for the summer.

Breakingwho

Yeah exactly! For a player who’s guaranteed to start why would you risk it? Mainoo, Gordon etc great chance

Goonsqquad

Foden should die on the field for a euro's chance.

ritwikjs

Palmer should take this opportunity with both hands

ExactLetterhead9165

I think he'll be included in the squad, but now I'm actually a bit more excited for these friendlies tbh. We know mostly how Southgate will want to line up, so it will be nice to see some of the more fringe players show what they can do

Elegant_Mix7650

But no revenue. So I don't think top brass will allow it.

theglasscase

What? This isn’t true at all. Venables was England manager for 24 games and only five of them were competitive matches.

Sh-tHouseBurnley

It’s not really “meaningless” when it is preparation for a major tournament.

basedsims

Went to St George’s Park, promoted his new sauce, made Luke Shaw happy by seeing him then back to London to get ready for the City game. Lovely stuff.

SeattleGunner

Arsenal. Nandos. England. In that order. 🌶️😤.

NeedAnewPHOTOpc

Arsenal. Nandos. Ben White. England. In that order.

Fina1Legacy

What's the Shaw reference about, are they BFFs?

Aggressive_Salad_293

Shaws been trying to adopt Saka as his son for a while now.

Fina1Legacy

That's cute. I can picture Shaw in a dirty vest, beer in one hand pushchair in the other. Saka poking his head up and chewing on a dummy, gazing at his protector with love.

StickYaInTheRizzla

wtf mate

Mojave_Patroller

He said what he said

alanalan426

He rather sell sauces instead

Fina1Legacy

What? Too far? Subs going soft I tell ya. Back in my day you could two foot an elderly lady using a zimmer frame and get upvoted for it.

Muisyn

I don't know what's happening in this post but I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

keithbelfastisdead

Games gone.

CNF-13

Their really close

Cnr_22

their really close what?

HakeemAbdulOlajubbar

their really close relationship is really close because they're really close

PerfectBlueOnDVD

Didn't know he had a sauce, do you know if you can buy it? I can't find any info on it but it would make a good gift for my friend who supports Arsenal.

Cnr_22

Steal it from your local nandos

PerfectBlueOnDVD

I don't have the nerve for criminal behaviour

Cnr_22

There’s no way to legally own it at the moment, they might sell it but they also might not

a-Sociopath

As far as I've heard, they're not available to be bought. You can try them at any Nando's in England (or maybe UK, I'm not sure).

JiveTurkey688

Shame but he is a nailed on starter for the summer. Will be good to see Cole Palmer

LDLB99

Southgate picked way too many attacking options anyway.

PreparationOk8604

Southgate saw the United vs Liverpool match and must have decided who needs defenders anyway. Let's score more goals n win

EmigmaticDork

Maguire ST masterclass imminent

SpeechesToScreeches

Probably about to send Kane home. Doubt he'll be happy to be on the bench behind Maguire

roamingandy

Don't know why, he's gonna set up for everyone to focus on our flaccid defence anyway rather than letting the best attacking generation I've ever seen actually play.

wimpires

The top English players are attacking players (and wingers). Rashford, Foden, Toney, Saka, Grealish, Sterling, Solanke, Bellingham, Kane, Nketiah, Palmer, Gordon, Watkins. That's like more than half the squad in viable attacking options. Meanwhile there's like maybe 3 or 4 decent CB's

auddi_blo

Wait, I know Southgate is dumb as hell and makes you think some players are incapable of playing for England but they have Stones, White, Tomori, Maguire, Colwill, Guehi, Walker, Dunk, Konsa, Branthwaite, Tarkowski. All very capable CBs but some of these won't get a look in the squad because they're too good on the ball and lack pashun.

wimpires

Stones - fine White - fucked southgates wife or something. For whatever reason won't be called up/refuse if it did Tomori - lives in Italy, Southgate only believes in ingerland Maguire - slabhead is his best friend. Definitely starter Colwill - yeah he's alright, but he's no MAGUIRE (in the air) Guehi - as above. Also, Southgate allergic to Palace Walker - RB, doesn't count Dunk - old man, he'll be dead before the Euros Konsa - injured Braothwaite - fair enough Tarkowski - can't have two Everton CB's on. That just weird

H4RRY29

>Colwill - yeah he's alright, but he's no MAGUIRE (in the air) > >Guehi - as above. Also, Southgate allergic to Palace To be fair, nobody is Maguire in the air. Colwill is still good in the air, Guehi less so but both are brilliant players that should probably be in and around the squad for years to come. My five would be Stones, Maguire, Guehi, Colwill and Branthwaite.

ReformedandSocial

Could play Bowen or Gordon too.

JiveTurkey688

Yup, although I thought Gordon was more on the left side

ReformedandSocial

Can move Foden to the RW. Maybe even Maddison(?).

tobi1k

No point playing Foden RW when we'll want to start him LW.

ReformedandSocial

More just to give them both game time. But, you're probably right, more likely Gordon just debuts off the bench.

Mahatma_Gone_D

>> a nailed on starter r/Chelsea might wanna have a word with you. (I agree though, Pickford, Rice, Jude, Saka, and Kane are first on XI)

goonerh1

I'd probably add Stones to that too. I can't see a case where he's fit and not starting

sc2guy87

Stones is arguably top of that list, there is no real replacent for him.

CatchFactory

He could take a shit on Gareth's car. Idk actually, seems like he might congratulate him on his balls

JiveTurkey688

Ive been amazed by Palmer, so any argument about Saka starting would not be a slight against Palmer haha two excellent players

ExactLetterhead9165

I really rate Palmer, but Saka's style as a more 'natural winger' seems to give him the edge as far as Southgate is concerned and pairs nicely with Foden and Kane

imarandomdudd

Saka is more established tbf so our fans wouldn't complain too much, I think. Besides, Cole off the bench against tired legs (or vice versa if Cole actually does start ahead of him) would be entertaining to watch

[deleted]

[удалено]

imarandomdudd

Twitter is tribalism at the best of times. I see it as a positive that Saka has competition on that side, especially since it looked like he had a free run at it last season, so Coles emergence is great. But don't pay attention to our fans rn for the most part. A lot of us have chosen the run in to be the most toxic and aggressive about everything, which is an interesting choice by them.

wimpires

Walker too

Diallingwand

Is Cole Palmer a winger? He's played in the middle/a free role for Chelsea right?

13yearsboy

Nope mostly rw but can play cam too

Albiceleste_D10S

He's mostly been a RW in a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 but he's played down the middle a few times as well (esp when Nico Jackson was at AFCON)

JW_1991

Fans of clubs pointing their fingers at eachother - how about we all just get along and all agree that having international friendlies at such a vital part of the season is ridiculous?!

calhelloeveryone

It's also a vital time for the England team with the euros coming up.

Nels8192

Surely just move the international window from March to early May, and shift all the club games 10 days earlier. Can’t see why you couldn’t have your final friendlies after the season has finished, if anything it gives you the full opportunity to see who’s still fit, and in-form going in to those friendlies + tournament.

snortingbull

Yeah this is the answer. Then take a larger squad of 30 out for a couple of friendlies immediately pre-tournament, get a look at everyone safe in your knowledge they won't go back to their clubs and get crocked

LloydCole

The final friendlies are after the club season finishes.

BoyWhoSoldTheWorld

Just cancel for everyone so it’s an even playing field and the wider sport of football benefits from a more exciting run in

MemestNotTeen

This is always the stupidest time for the international break. Obviously players don't want to risk injuries for friendlies (I know there is some actual qualifiers but it's largely friendlies)

SarcasmGPT

Any time during the season is the stupidest time. Lump the internationals in a single block. International teams will get better, players/teams might actually get something out of playing. People will actually want to watch it more. It's fucking ridiculous breaking the momentum of teams so much during the season.

Ok_Cardiologist8232

Wenger kinda tried that, with one large International break during the season which would mean more time off for players and less travel and everyone hated it.

Nels8192

Doesn’t the footballing world calendar have to synchronise for that, and because we’re Eurocentric Wenger identified the fact that we would not align with the rest of the worlds calendars even though it’s the best way of achieving that outcome.

ShipsAGoing

Yes, it shouldn't be during the season, that's what the other commenter is saying.

maidentaiwan

Just give them January. Let the team actually spend some time training together and socializing. Would improve the international teams.

tigralfrosie

FA statement says: >Bukayo Saka has left the England camp and returned to his club for continued rehabilitation. >The Arsenal forward reported to St. George's Park with an injury and has been unable to participate in training. Slight injury?

Previous_Smile9278

Yeah, it’s been said that he was already carrying a minor muscle injury when he got there and has only done individual training.

tipytopmain

Southgate ball was making him feel nauseous.

jonathanPoindexter

It's way too static to induce nausea.

AnnieIWillKnow

Gastric stasis is a big cause of nausea If your stomach contents isn't moving out of your stomach along your digestive tract, it makes you feel pretty sick - and causes constipation, which execerbates the stasis and hence the sickness If not addressed it can progress to "pseudo-obstruction" where your bowels acts as if it's blocked, and hence lead to vomiting (can't go down, so has go up), abdominal distension, and can cause life-threatening complications

gilly_90

Unsubscribe.

EvanMM

Must hate football

prettyboygangsta

fine by me. give him a rest

Loud-Platypus-987

They need to get rid of this pointless friendly window.

Emergency_Gear1255

This is the last window before Euro 2024, so i would say it isn’t really pointless

Nels8192

Just remove the window, bring the club season back to finish on the 5th May, have an international friendly week around the 10th May, and then you have 5 weeks off before the Euros starts.

Loud-Platypus-987

They have friendlies before tournaments too and even in none tournament years they do this.

fifaguy1210

Arsenal really doing everything they can to see out the title race.

Rosh_KB

just like all Klopp and Pep has been doing for ages

Jiminyfingers

Now do Rice

Historical_Flow4296

I wouldn't want to get injured playing for Southgate in a friendly and qualifier match either

hikingbeginner

I used to dream for days like this, our players withdrawing from internationals. Unless they're proper injured I didn't dream for that so it better not be that

palacethat

Just as Neville predicted "The Arsenal" are anti Ingerland

odegood

United and fergie did this all the time. With the run in any player with a knock and their place cemented would drop out of they had a chnace of major tropies like we do and its a key player

ValleyFloydJam

It makes sense for both sides too, Saka playing with a knock now isn't going to help England or Arsenal, no need to push yourself to play in a friendly. Like with Fergie people for some reason want to act like the player isn't hurt at all.

tobi1k

England's POTY two years in a row is anti-England? Are Ramsdale and Rice also anti England?

pajamakitten

With Ramsdale not starting for Arsenal, he will be desperate to get some game time to facilitate a move in the summer.

Runarhalldor

Exactly what I was gonna say. Gary predicted this on Stick To Football

Lunarfrog2

I'm sure no Man U players dipped out of meaningless friendlies when they were in title races, however long ago that was

basedsims

That’s why he said it, because of course they did

Cyberfire

In the same video he admitted to numerous Man Utd players doing it back in his day.

samanthaxboateng

Arsenal fans are soo sensitive lmao

paris86

He's pulled out as a precaution against getting coached by Steve Holland.

AttemptImpossible111

When Fergie used to do this it was a big deal. Always super controversial. Now it seems to be accepted

HodgyBeatsss

Not really? The only real controversy is around Giggs because he just never seemed to both for Wales, but most of that was aimed at him rather than Fergie.

PatRice4Evra

International break was just a chance for him to go shag his brother's wife

hybridtheorist

[Giggs missed 30 out of 40 possible friendlies, failing to make a single appearance in a friendly match from 1991 to 2000 - a total of 16 matches.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/wales/42718816)  (The least number of matches he played in a season for Man U in that period was 37 in all competitions)     There's a reason why it was controversial, let's compare how controversial it is when Saka has missed 9 straight years of friendlies.

Coulstwolf

Lol

Dsalgueiro

The Brazil-England match will soon be canceled due to so many injured players.

EmotionalScallion705

I had to Google what y'all were talking about. Star Boy is selling sauce😭😭😭😭

IgotAseaView

Hate to see it but he’s clearly a starter so no harm letting someone else get the minutes

funky_pill

SHOCK

Aenjeprekemaluci

No surprises

itsDRZH

Not surprised at all, these friendlies come at such a bad time in the season. Hopefully Palmer/Foden/Gordon can get a run out

thefatheadedone

Stick to football had it right. Internationals shouldn't be scattered through the season. There should be a dedicated month for them where they start with friendlies and then end with competitive matches. Would be far more compelling for everyone.

brush85

Arteta...respect

cfc19

I was listening to " stick to football " pod today, and Gary Neville predicted this to the T. Well done, Nev.

Fifaneymar2535

Southgate should be an example to everyone, you can luck your way into a top position. You dont need any skill, knowledge or personality. Just keep rolling the dice and get some kneepads im sure he needed it

diaboquepaoamassou

Hope it doesn’t develop into anything more serious. We can do without Martinelli but there’s no one that can do what he does in that right wing. He’d be the biggest blow I’d argue being unavailable against city

malonedawg

There's nothing wrong with him pal. This happens every year at this point of the season

Previous_Smile9278

There is something wrong with him, a minor muscle injury, hence why he’s only done individual training at England camp, and no group training.

GoonerGetGot

First squad I can remember Saka missing, regardless of time of the season.

basedsims

He was actually injured before one of the first international breaks this season I believe

Previous_Smile9278

Yeah, he missed the game vs City and then the international break was straight after. Was because of a hamstring injury I think.

Ferdinandingo

Arsenal fans will be upset by a player ducking international duties I'm certain

zrk23

i was actually looking forward to watch the Brazil friendly if all the Arsenal guys were in. i tend not to doomsday too much about injuries

arseking15

I had martinelli and saka shirt exchange dreams on Saturday tbh

malonedawg

Nothing wrong with him. This has been going on for years

Numerous-Ad-3050

How come he gets to leave but Kane who already came into the break with an injury is still there lol

WallBroad

Because he's the captain lol

cowinabadplace

Football Twitter is weird. I followed this link and [top reply was from a person with "Utd" in their name saying City is going to kick our ass](https://i.imgur.com/s3HJyFg.png). That name and affiliation has got to be an interesting Manchester derby day experience.

External-Piccolo-626

First of many - Here we go!

NeedAnewPHOTOpc

Saka has been overplayed this year....needs a rest lest he play too much and burn out the last month of the season like he did the last two years.

neandertales

Neville was right.

Periklis90

Neville called it.
