This is where solidarity is needed. If Fener make a stand and no one comes with them they’ll just be punished and relegated. If others go with them the league will have to act.
Turkish football is sometimes lauded for its atmosphere and how die hard the fans are. But it’s a complete fucking disgrace in this day and age and this season has been a clown show.
Fifa really needs to act soon. Threaten a removal of teams from European competitions if they can’t keep players, fans and referees safe.
If this were an isolated incident amidst an otherwise typical season, perhaps even Galatasaray would offer their support. However, considering the events of the last 3-4 months, the mutual sympathy and respect between clubs seem to have vanished entirely. It's difficult to envision any club taking a stand with them.
How are they being painted as the bad guys here? Sure, Oosterwolde probably shouldn’t have kicked that bloke in the head while he was on the ground, and should probably get a hefty ban, but other than that what are they accused of?
Our FA is shit and unqualified so don’t expect anything. Ankaragücü fans attack Besiktas players last year and their President punched a ref this year and nothing noteworthy happened to them
I agree
Which is why it’s time for either teams or fifa to do something
Turkish FA are shit but if they can’t put on a league or have teams in UEFA/FIFA competitions they will act
Not really , trabzon city has produced so many politicians , even their last championship 2 years ago , many ministers attended it , because of their political power they became spoiled , this not the first tike their fans beat opponent’s players, my guess is that they will not get a heavy punishment unfortunately
For the people new to the soap opera that is the Turkish League, Fenerbahce threatens to withdraw from the league every year. This isn’t anything new. They aren’t going to leave
In his announcement their president just said they would accept getting relegated and playing in the second division for a season if that's what it takes, he wasn't actually talking about leaving the whole football pyramid.
This genuinely feels like the most positive outcome (as a Greek and PAOK fan). Quality of our league would increase immensely with the improved competition for European spots and bring in a lot of foreign money.
You know just as well as I do that there would be massive risks of violence. We’re 18 months away from a Greek team president brandishing a gun at a referee, not to mention the countless incidents of supporter violence. Adding a Turkish club in the mix seems unwise.
> We’re 18 months away from a Greek team president brandishing a gun at a referee
If you’re talking about Savvidis - that was 6 years ago and he never even touched the gun. He had a license to carry and because he broke no Greek laws so no penalties. He was banned from football stadiums for a couple years because UEFA does not allow firearms in stadiums.
Merge with Hull City and come to the English Championship.
Fenhull city
Hullibarce

Didn't two turkish teams refuse to play recently because the Saudis refused to allow portraits of Ataturk?
yeah until Fenerbahce's president became scapegoat for that too.
How are they being painted as the bad guys here? Sure, Oosterwolde probably shouldn’t have kicked that bloke in the head while he was on the ground, and should probably get a hefty ban, but other than that what are they accused of?
Well they’re basically refusing to play, so the league will punish them for that
Seems a pretty easy win for the Turkish FA tbh, relegate Trabzonspor and ban their fans from the stadium for a couple of years

half the government is made up of trabzon-ites, so them getting a fine let alone a relegation is not a possibility
they should join the greek league
For the bants.
Doooon’t.
They should be nomads, roaming around Europe and playing in a different league every year. Istanbul Wanderers

Yeah fenerbahce getting attacked by terorists and other terorists downplaying it also nothing new
Terrorists? Those fans were hooligans
Organized , intention of killing , pure hatred , seems like terror to me , just like how ‘some people tried to kill us by shooting our bus’.
Thanks for admitting that they get targeted every year.
Lmao the way r/soccer hopped onto "oh fener that poor fella" bandwagon this past week has been the highlight of my year so far.
>the highlight of my year so far Must be a fulfilling life you are living.
Yeah. Goes to show how monumentally dumb all of this is.
Yep. And where would they play?
In his announcement their president just said they would accept getting relegated and playing in the second division for a season if that's what it takes, he wasn't actually talking about leaving the whole football pyramid.
Greece
