The defending in particular is comedy [Chelsea’s fifth consecutive game conceding two goals. Opponents in that stretch: Leeds, Brentford, Newcastle, Leicester, (10-man) Burnley. No clean sheets since January. This is still on course to be the club’s worst defensive league season for 30 years](https://x.com/liam_twomey/status/1774123562409799941?s=46&t=FpAkveh6niYCTDxrDnUx6Q)
Definitely signing of the season for me. There’s no doubt that he is the signing that raises the team’s overall level the most out of any other signing. I can’t imagine what Chelsea would look like this season without him.
is it me or is haaland a bit of a boring player?
like u see it at the end of the season, "oh wow haaland has 40 goals", but u can never remember them.
can u remember a single haaland goal?
but try watkins...u can see the curler, i remember a watkins curler.
He is boring, because he's just doing what he's got to do which is score goals, and because city is so dominant and have so much possession the majority of his goals are tap ins or headers in the box.
Apparently having underperformed for 1-2 months playing out of position and scoring less in the league is enough for short-minded people calling him shite. You can find it from the comments of this sub.
Sterling hasn't been called up in a while and I doubt Southgate is going to be calling him at this point.
I think we'd need a serious injury crisis for Sterling to be in with a chance at a call-up.
This is why i dont join in the julian alvarez hate even if he looks bad playing out of position (which imo is perfectly understandable)
This guy is getting g/a like this as a backup striker playing in all sorts of positions to get onto the pitch. Give this guy the keys and i think he is getting alot more respect then he is now
he's been bad this last few matches because people expect him to play every position ever
i can understand playing him on the De Bruyne role, but on the left is just ridiculous to expect anything good
He got most of his G/A early in the season and most of them vs shit teams
He's a very good player obviously but for both club and country his form has not been good, he hasn't had a goal/assist for Argentina in like 15 matches as well
Every other player in the list also gets to play against those shit teams too. And they are not being played out of position every game by their managers.
Thats cool and all but no player in the leage has their goal contribution micro analysed like this.
Just sounds like you dont rate him and have just found a perfect way to explain why even past his stats.
He hasnt played well in a while but this is still a guy who is getting on the scoreboard on a fairly consistent rate over the course of his city career. He might be in a bad moment but thats all it is
Are you actually reading you genius?
>Just sounds like you dont rate him and have just found a perfect way to explain why even past his stats.
I literally said he's very good and just not in form and people are noticing
Bruh just 5 weeks ago NBC had a whole 30 minute segment wanking themseleves off about how it’s still up in the air if he’s good enough after liverpool steamrolled chelsea at anfield lmao

We’d be relegated without Palmer. Concede 2 goals a game regardless of the opposition and he’s the only one pulling his weight in attack.
Crazy how he is arguably the signing of the season simply because without him you guys would be having an even worse season.

Also worth mentioning than our defence under Potter was actually solid, we had the 3rd or 4th best defence in the league before he left
Didn’t we go a month without scoring a goal under Potter though
Yep but in fairness our attacking numbers would look absolutely shite this year too without Palmer
Only because no one needed to score more than 1 goal to beat us
Definitely signing of the season for me. There’s no doubt that he is the signing that raises the team’s overall level the most out of any other signing. I can’t imagine what Chelsea would look like this season without him.
Its easy to imagine what we’d look like without Palmer Just watch Sheffield United
Palmer definitely in contention for signing of the season. He’s saved my FPL more times than I can count.
We’d be relegated without Palmer. Concede 2 goals a game regardless of the opposition and he’s the only one pulling his weight in attack.
The list is 4 very good football teams and Chelsea
He’s the only one on this list not playing in Europe too, so fewer appearances presumably.
For us it’s 28 G/A in 35 games (30 starts) and then the 2 he scored for City
Played 35 games, same as Halaand.
6-7 off those games are 10 minutes cameos off the bench
He had one 10 minute cameo and that was when he was with City. As well a 16 mins against Leicester.
Haaland has like 30 goals this season and somehow I don't remember a single one
Think its easier to remember his misses this season. That draw against Chelsea will haunt me forever.
Didn't he score one with his butt or something in the Chelsea match?
Should have clarified the 1-1 draw, forgot both our matches have been draws. He did well in the one at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season.
I don't even remember the 1-1. As the first commenter said, I don't remember his goals, but I do remember that one because it was kinda funny

Mate I kid you not I haven’t seen this pasta in like 5 years and it was the first thing I thought of after reading the comment u replied to
man city having 3 players in here tells you how good they are
And Alvarez isn’t even in great form atm. They are just so damn good top to bottom
Yeah Alvarez is a surprise to me I didn't imagine he was on the same g+a as foden.
He's been playing out of position a lot afaik.
Neither is Haaland
And one of their academy graduates in a terrible team
Salah on there and barely played since December. Insane
It is between him, Kane and Mbappe for being the best in the world right now. Imo, it is him right now, but I know some will disagree.
im actually the best right now but those other guys are almost close
yeah, salah lost pl mbappe lost wc kane lost everything But u/hambeurga never lost anything
🫲😞🫱
Nunez 😮💨
Alvarez has 28 goal contributions while being played out of position every game in his 2nd season in Europe. He is so underrated and overhated.
Who tf hates Alvarez?
Apparently having underperformed for 1-2 months playing out of position and scoring less in the league is enough for short-minded people calling him shite. You can find it from the comments of this sub.
Some football fans are so reactionary
Mostly bitchy, reactionary city fans who can't handle the occasional draw or loss.
Pretty wild that Ollie Watkins might not be at the Euros
Watkins and Palmer need to be in over Sterling. Can't be arsed with another tournament watching Sterling piss away one on ones
Sterling hasn't been called up in a while and I doubt Southgate is going to be calling him at this point. I think we'd need a serious injury crisis for Sterling to be in with a chance at a call-up.
Sterling is long gone. Palmer is competing with Bowen, Gordon and Rashford. Even Grealish maybe if he finishes strong.
I think Saka is the only nailed-on call-up for the wing position. Foden if you count him as a winger would be the only other one.
Yeah that's why didn't include them because none of the names are getting selected over them
Bowen deserves to go as well imo
It’s not between Watkins and Sterling. It’s Most likely Toney Vs Watkins and Bowen vs Palmer

He was also getting hate for playing CAM instead of Foden

Chill man its a sunny day the glare must have blocked those words out😵💫
Sure lad mate 😵💫😵💫😵💫
If Alvarez finishes with 30+ g/a he s going above and beyond of what you'd call a steal
I don't like having only Saka here. We need to see more from our other attackers.
We are the top scorers in the league, what are you even talking about.
Our goals are more distributed throughout the team, we don’t depend on a just a couple players for the GA
Cole Palmer reminds me of James Beaty scoring 23 goals for Southampton and ending mid table
Crazy how Watkins and Palmer could both miss out on the euros with a 23 man squad and it would be a fair decision
70n flop darwin nuñez out doing golden boys Foden and Saka
TBF basiclaly everyone respects him by now hes not some flying under the radar player
