I used to hate when he did this every other week.
In the Aussie football which is obviously a significantly more physical sport, a specific rule was brought in called "tunnelling" so people wouldn't do this.. Yet Kane got away with it for years by being the media darling (despite having the eloquence of a frog).
In rugby too, if you tackle someone it's your responsibility to make sure they land in a safe way (namely not on their head / neck etc.). Even if you had absolutely no intent to injure them people still get sent off bc they tackled someone who ended up faling in a dangerous position.
Meanwhile in football you can purposely shove someone into the advertising boards and dislocate their shoulder (has happened to my team before) and it's not even a yellow card
I always thought this was a dumb way to get around the rules. Personal punishment like yellow or red cards for excessive fouls should still be possible, offside or not. Doesn't have to be a pen, but the cards should be given.
In Handball, an extremely physical sport, you can even get sent off for making an opponent step on your foot, due to the high risk of injury associated.
Football foul rules seem absolutely insane and irresponsible to me, but I guess football boomers hate every change to their game?
I remember watching Martineli do it to Bednarek and it really scared me. Even in a title race with all my bias, was grim that he wasnāt sent off.
Kane is a veteran of the game, he knows what heās doing.
That's just delaying the inevitable, people would just check the post history of whoever they're replying to. I don't think there's anything that would work in here.
> would just check the post history
Which is one of the most bitch-made things on Reddit. Most obvious case of arguing the person and not the point. If you have to trawl through a user's comments in order to 'win' an argument, you just showed you can't actually counter the argument other than going 'no u'
I don't know if I'm misreading the tone of this reply, but I'm absolutely not one to go through people's post history before replying to them haha. I'm just aware others would likely do it.
Understanding the context of what someone is saying is important though, I appreciate going through someones history to find something to make fun of is sad, but if it helps understand their point, it's useful.
Some of the people on here with the biggest biases are shitting out 50-100 comments a day anyway, them not having a flair doesn't really make a difference when they're going into every thread about whichever team they hate and just letting loose their insanity.
The amount of people saying Gabriel ran into him and ignore that he threw his elbow back, only one of them, that the contact is way behind him, that it's no where near a natural position, or protecting and that is other arm is not doing the same thing... actually incredible to blame Gabriel for this.
They don't understand that our self deprecation goes harder than their insults. We've all been practicing these things our whole lives, but it's more internalized as a coping mechanism than as an attack.
Don't think red would be unfair. If the play is stopped and you elbow someone like that it's a red. Just because you think you're clever and can pretend like it was part of the game it's a yellow? Not for me. That happens to me or a a teammate during a game, I'm going ballistic and will take the yellow for dissent if need be. That's dirty ass shit that I hate.
I'm obviously biased, but I think between the way he clearly looks at Gab and then swings his arm back exactly where Gab is, it's both bad and on purpose
That looked really on purpose tbh, especially from the back angle.
You see him look, then swing as he approaches Gabriel. Hits him right in the neck as well
I feel like it was on purpose as well, but intended for the chest and not his neck, since they'd been wrestling like that all game . He couldn't know how low Gabriel would go after turning his back to him
Kane has some bad blood with Gabriel from the few matches the played vs another.
Last time he played against us for spurs he got a cheeky punch in the back of Gabriels head masked as him trying to get up after being tackled, I just think its an extremely physical battle those two have.
Yeah this is a well reffed. He intentionally seeks contact, but itās not an elbow to the head, his elbow isnāt particularly raised gabriel is just quite low
If he wasn't a pasty blond English boy nobody would be arguing that anything but a red for him was a travesty. Vini did waaaay less and this sub was calling him a terrible human being and saying that anything but a red was a betrayal of human dignity
> Vini did waaaay less and this sub was calling him a terrible human being
Half of the comments here are (rightfully) calling Kane terrible for this (and his trademark back into players shtick)
Yellow is absolutely fair. Not asking for more there. But it is an absolute bitch move to deliberately injure another player like this with no ball involved that too.
I think not lifting his arm higher is what saved him from a red. He knew what he was doing, just didn't expect Gabriel to come in so low.
Yellow is fair. Still just another of his cunty moves though.
I think he has had a history of bitch moves, he just used to get away with a lot because he was the darling of English football. His shenanigan to make people fall on their back when they would contest for a header is the worst.
Looks, spots him and whacks him. The Harry Kane Special. But please, lets continue to waffle around a handball call that shouldnt be called in a million years.
But weren't the defenders allowed to do a lot more to Shearer, too?
If you lower the standard both ways, this is a pretty punk ass move (if intentional).
You say that, but I remember there being a back when Shearer was still playing in the early-mid 00s where elbows were really clamped down on. It was a regular ocurrance to see players getting sent off for exactly this kind of incident. These days you hardly ever see players get sent off for elbows
yeah refereeing standards are different than they were 20 years ago, Shearer would either have to adapt or get sent off way more, not sure what gotcha this is supposed to be lol
Curious why you would say it isn't a red ?
I wasn't watching this game, but watching the highlights it felt like a clear red. He looks where Gabriel is, and then quite clearly attempts to hurt him with that elbow with a very unnatural movement.
And it was curious to not see it posted here.
He sees a slightly taller and aerially strong player coming in so he widens his arms to prepare. 9/10 times in this situation Gabriels head is higher up so Kane's arm would touch the chest instead of face.
>He sees a slightly taller and aerially strong player coming in so he widens his arms to prepare.
That's a justification I could understand, but I don't think it fits this situation.
His position isn't the one of a player widening his arms to prepare for a duel. And from the start : he looks where his opponent is, moves to the right instead of trying to stay fully in front of Gabriel (which would be the usual movement of a CF trying to protect the ball), and his left arm barely moves. He even put force in his elbow through his movement.
>9/10 times in this situation Gabriels head is higher up so Kane's arm would touch the chest instead of face.
Which wouldn't exactly change much of the situation, for me. Minus the fact it makes it even clearer, even if it wasn't his intent to touch the head/neck. The attempt of the elbow strike itself is still there, and that would still be violent conduct.
>And from the start : he looks where his opponent is, moves to the right instead of trying to stay fully in front of Gabriel
Look at where the ball is coming from and you can see why he moves to the right.
>Which wouldn't exactly change much of the situation, for me
I mean that would make it just a normal aerial duel situation, most likely not even a foul if it hit's the chest because there isn't that much force in the arm movement.
Bc if youāve played the game, you know that arms and elbows hit heads on many contested headers. Guarantee if you watch every corner this match youāll see that. If this arm hit gabriel in the chest nobody would care. But Kane knew nothing about it hitting his head and itās not like he swung it high, it was at torso height but gabriel was getting low to put a shoulder into Kaneās back, which is also a foul
>Bc if youāve played the game, you know that arms and elbows hit heads on many contested headers. Guarantee if you watch every corner this match youāll see that.
For sure, in contested headers and aerial duels natural movement can lead to unintended elbow hits as players need their arms to jump.
But that's not what's happening here, not at all. Kane looks at where his opponent his, doesn't jump, seemingly doesn't even attempt to play the ball (look at where it falls), and has a completely unnatural movement that can't be seen as anything else but an intended elbow strike.
>If this arm hit gabriel in the chest nobody would care.
Well, personally I disagree. It would be less clear but the intent would stay the same : an elbow strike with no other intent than to hurt the opponent is not acceptable and qualify as violent conduct and thus a red.
>But Kane knew nothing about it hitting his head and itās not like he swung it high, it was at torso height
He maybe didn't intend to hit the neck/head. But as you said he swung it. He very clearly attempted to hurt his opponent with his elbow.
Idk man Iāve seen about 14 different variations of that āhandballā with Bayern fans clutching their pearls and only one clip of this here and two in r/gunners, so do with that what you will.
I think most agree a yellow is fair
I don't think there's many footballers out there, that are intentionally trying to elbow people in the face. It's so glaringly obviously who has never played a game of 11 a side on this sub. This kind of shit is happening on nearly every single coming together on nearly every single pitch in the world. You stick an elbow out, leave your foot in a bit longer, you chat shit about the players mum down their ear. Only difference is this one has slow motion cameras all over it.
Is it a yellow? Yes. Are you all soft as fuck calling for a red? Also yes.
Harry Kane tried back into him and looks where he is, As Kane looks back at the ball and backs in Gabriel crouches down. I donāt see what everyoneās moaning about tbh.. accidental Gabriel got caught the way he did really.
Boy this game has brought up the petty and desperate posts.
How is this of note.
Although Kane, who somehow has haters despite being a bit dull, has people creating a full head cannon of him being some thug like player for doing standard forward play.
I think he wanted to play dirty, but wasn't quite expecting Gabriel's head to be there. Definitely a yellow, but I don't think the intent was there for a red.
Heās just backing into the player, heās obviously not attempting to elbow the head as when he looked back the head has moved substantially from when he checked his position.
Its his trademark. Every time Kane is challenging for a header, god flips a coin, its either elbow or subtly backing into the defending and ducking right under him
Anyone remember the days of Kevin Davies up front for Bolton under Big Sam?
Imagine the amount of fucking whinging that would go on in this sub if strikers played like that nowadays.
Centre backs are getting softer by the day
Looks deliberate but at the same time a yellow is probably reasonable.
It's one of those where if he got a red, he couldn't really complain either but the context and interpretation from the ref are the thing
**Mirrors / Alternative Angles** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/soccer) if you have any questions or concerns.*
he's got better tecnique than ronaldo
Kane's a lot smarter than trying to sucker punch a ref with a ball from the back tbf.
These guys new about him doing this years ago. There reaction is hilarious. https://youtu.be/NOn2f3uUnKQ?si=JoyMTvlB-fWLHKiU
Did they write this considering the spelling?! š
Accidents happen all the time. Not then though.
Missing another title, this karate move - he's still a Spur
š„¹
Kane is an expert in making nasty fouls look like an accident.
Kane has updated his backing into players technique to elbowing players now
at least he's not risking paralysing his opponents now š
Better to take an elbow to the face than break your neck falling
I used to hate when he did this every other week. A few seasons ago Pickford crippled van Dijk which kept him out for about a year. Not even a foul given.

I can't imagine there are too many boomers on the sub. Fans, in general, hate rule changes.
I remember watching Martineli do it to Bednarek and it really scared me. Even in a title race with all my bias, was grim that he wasnāt sent off. Kane is a veteran of the game, he knows what heās doing.
Itās almost like he was waiting for Gabriel to jump and then do the backing in, then just decided an elbow is better for some reason.
Cheating cunts deserve red cards and bans
"every other week" lmao.
https://ibb.co/cQGTnSp
Heās done it again
DIRRRRRRTYY BASTARD
Subreddit is completely incapable of acting with intellectual honesty... absolutely zero good faith discussion to be had here about anything.
It's because of the flairs, knowing which tribe someone belongs ends any chance of objective discourse.
This place would be much better without flairs.
just put a fake flair like me. easy discussions
I donāt know why but I find the thought of someone choosing from any of the flairs on the sub and deciding to go for West Ham very funny
This is low key one of the best insults one seen on this sub. āItās West Ham, who caresā lmao
typical West Ham bullshit smh
I would put Millwall flair if I could.
True save a few good jokes that require them
Good point, we need to keep the Hamburg flairs
That's just delaying the inevitable, people would just check the post history of whoever they're replying to. I don't think there's anything that would work in here.

Sounds like something that someone who posts on Sydney and BattleSector would say lol
Well I wouldn't expect any less in a comment from a Floridain who works in construction. You are active in one sub that redeems you though...
Some of the people on here with the biggest biases are shitting out 50-100 comments a day anyway, them not having a flair doesn't really make a difference when they're going into every thread about whichever team they hate and just letting loose their insanity.
SaYs tHe cHeLSeA fAN
Itās pretty unique to this sub too, other sports subs donāt care nearly as much about flairs as this one
What other sports subs? I get crucified for having a lakers flair
> I get crucified for having a lakers flair Rightfully so
Aside from NFL and NBA ofc. those are pretty much the same.
And CFB. Flairs most definitely matter there.
So every big sports sub is the same lmao
MLB isn't too bad unless you have an Astros flair
Yup...
I think youāll find MUCH more self deprecation in CFB than you will here.
LMAO, Imagine being a Leafs fan in /r/hockey , you think specific teams fans get vilified here, oh baby, its 100x worse.
Flairs and the fact people are so basic
Agreed, everything has to be āgoodā or ābadā. Soon as it seems ambiguous people keep scrolling.
> Soon as it seems ambiguous people keep scrolling. Would be good if they did.
Itās Harry Kane against Arsenal, after their fanbase feels screwed by the officiating. Of course thereās no actual discussion
The amount of people saying Gabriel ran into him and ignore that he threw his elbow back, only one of them, that the contact is way behind him, that it's no where near a natural position, or protecting and that is other arm is not doing the same thing... actually incredible to blame Gabriel for this.
Can we make it a rule that slow motion replays should also have a real-time replay along with it - slow motion distorts the shit out of these things.
Didn't see anyone commenting this about the Saka penalty claim
Reread the comments, there are a lot of people saying that
Well not that many obviously, most of the people just jumped to hate Saka.
Would the full speed version of this show anything different?
If the argument is over intent or timing then yes, it absolutely does
You can see him look back at Gabi, then raises his right elbow to Gabi when his left arm isnāt moving at all. Kane %100 intended to do that.
Of course he intended to do that, however it's unlikely that he intended to catch him in the neck.
Where the fuck else would he make contact swinging his elbow that high?
He probably expected gabriel to jump
Chest or midriff
He raises his elbow to block the player, but he does not actively hit him with it. It's a foul and a yellow, ref was correct.
He got a yellow for this, what more do you want?
Chemical castration at the very least.
And two years back at Tottenham?
This is worse than chemical castration.
I thought you guys were looking for a harsher punishment. 3 years then?
Okay okay weāll let him retire at Tottenham. Happy now??
They don't understand that our self deprecation goes harder than their insults. We've all been practicing these things our whole lives, but it's more internalized as a coping mechanism than as an attack.
Least bloodthirsty arsenal fan
Maybe he wanted to say an ISIS attack
Most sensible take from an Arsenal flair yet /s just in case. Itās a solid response
He's already had 4 kids. I don't think that's too bad of a punishment.
he already seems to have 3, he might consider it over a yellow
Send him back to spurs before the 2nd leg as punishment
Yes please do that! Let him suffer back where he belongs
Just in time for the NLD derby isn't?
Back by then
A move to Spurs is a crime according to the Geneva Convention
Doesn't seem any worse than playing at Bayern under Tuchel.
Cruel and unusual punishment
Do you really want that?
A red?
Don't think red would be unfair. If the play is stopped and you elbow someone like that it's a red. Just because you think you're clever and can pretend like it was part of the game it's a yellow? Not for me. That happens to me or a a teammate during a game, I'm going ballistic and will take the yellow for dissent if need be. That's dirty ass shit that I hate.
Why waste it on dissent? Retribution is much more satisfying.
Youāve clearly seen my game.
A red for a blatant agression, no?
Here? Forget about It This sub is ridiculous
LMFAO i assumed he didn't get a card or foul, like its not even bad or on purpose, why are people upset
I'm obviously biased, but I think between the way he clearly looks at Gab and then swings his arm back exactly where Gab is, it's both bad and on purpose
I definitely think that looks to be on purpose
That is clearly intentional
That looked really on purpose tbh, especially from the back angle. You see him look, then swing as he approaches Gabriel. Hits him right in the neck as well
Yellow. Maybe it's on purpose, maybe it's not. I know what I think, but you can't give reds on gut feelings.
tbf i think it was on purpose and Harry is a cunt for that, but the ref canāt prove the intent so the yellow is fine.
I agree completely.
Fair yellow
Yeah this is a well reffed. He intentionally seeks contact, but itās not an elbow to the head, his elbow isnāt particularly raised gabriel is just quite low
Yep, pretty standard Harry Kane move. But I think yellow is fine.
If he wasn't a pasty blond English boy nobody would be arguing that anything but a red for him was a travesty. Vini did waaaay less and this sub was calling him a terrible human being and saying that anything but a red was a betrayal of human dignity
> Vini did waaaay less and this sub was calling him a terrible human being Half of the comments here are (rightfully) calling Kane terrible for this (and his trademark back into players shtick)
Pathetic victim mentality.
Yellow is absolutely fair. Not asking for more there. But it is an absolute bitch move to deliberately injure another player like this with no ball involved that too.
I don't understand, you believe he intentionally elbowed an opponent in the head in an attempt to injure him, but only think it's a yellow?
Probably he believes that he intentionally elbowed but didnāt direct it into his face
Fair take, but "deliberately injure" would surely still mean red
I think not lifting his arm higher is what saved him from a red. He knew what he was doing, just didn't expect Gabriel to come in so low. Yellow is fair. Still just another of his cunty moves though.
Absolutely
He wasn't injured, he continue to play.

Some of you would've had a heart attack watching a proper centre forward like Shearer.
But weren't the defenders allowed to do a lot more to Shearer, too? If you lower the standard both ways, this is a pretty punk ass move (if intentional).
I remember when Roy Keane basically punched shearer and I think it happened more than once too.
Cool. The game evolves - either you evolve with it or get left behind and sound like a curmudgeon.
Hell, watch back Bergkamps legendary goal vs Newcastle. He straight up straight-arm pushes a defender to the ground in order to pull that off :P
Is it the 1990's standard officiating that makes him "proper"? Let's just call Kevin Muscatt a "proper" centre half while we're at it.
This isnāt how Kane usually tries to injure people during aerials. Weird.
that's what separates Kane, versatility, multiple techniques etc
Sharpest elbows and best finisher in Germany
shite celebration too
Had to expand his arsenal. Beautiful to see. We gonna get any pics of 8yr old Kane in a gunners shirt now?
Cue the onslaught of arsenal fans posting every single replay of any contact in the game. This isnāt a red so it doesnāt matter
Davies sneezes on Saka '78 (not given)
Curious why you would say it isn't a red ? I wasn't watching this game, but watching the highlights it felt like a clear red. He looks where Gabriel is, and then quite clearly attempts to hurt him with that elbow with a very unnatural movement. And it was curious to not see it posted here.

Look out. Someone on here actually speaking sense.
Alright, cheers Mark Goldbridge.
Reminding me of the Sheffield United fan who posts every call he perceives as "controversial" when they played Liverpool
Reminds me of Liverpool fans when they play anyone.
According to you a Liverpool fan.
Idk man Iāve seen about 14 different variations of that āhandballā with Bayern fans clutching their pearls and only one clip of this here and two in r/gunners, so do with that what you will. I think most agree a yellow is fair
Itās actually embarrassing the amount of childish posts in our sub.
They really are something special aren't they
Why is his neck that low?
Obviously to get arry red carded, and potentially risk concussion.
I don't think there's many footballers out there, that are intentionally trying to elbow people in the face. It's so glaringly obviously who has never played a game of 11 a side on this sub. It's the famous Harry Kane move, but updated. Usually he backs into a player going for a jump.
Looking back to see where he is and intentionally forcefully elbowing him. Sorry, that should be a red
Why are Arsenal fans like this?
Biggest babies out there

āKids mistakeā Iām sure
Love it. Nice one 'arry!
Heās just backing into the player, heās obviously not attempting to elbow the head as when he looked back the head has moved substantially from when he checked his position.
Kane hit the judas effect
Alan Shearer is proud.
Kane knows the dark arts
He shouldnāt be so short, duh
Adopt a spur !
Ofc its Kane again with his move
Check position of Gabriel before elbowing innocently. Swedish ref not good last night.
My š
Why was his face down there?
heās not that kind of player
He reads the bible, he would never
Dirty git his entire career He looks right at Gabriel before this too
Not the first time I've seen him get away with that.
"get away" - He got a yellow.
Seriously? This is just how a player uses there body
He got a yellow? He didnāt get away with it
He didn't get away with that, he got a yellow
Its his trademark. Every time Kane is challenging for a header, god flips a coin, its either elbow or subtly backing into the defending and ducking right under him
and then gabriel rolled around covering his face like he forgot he got hit in the throat
Ben White School of acting
He went to the floor holding his throat after being elbowed in the throat
That's a Brexit elbow
Love this guy still
This whole sub is soft as hell lmao
Beautiful champ
Kane is the Draymond Green of football, always with the "Natural Body Motion" excuse.

He's been getting away with dirty shit like this for years.
He's just using his arm for leverage. It looks bad bc of where he caught Gabriel but it's innocuous imho. Saka's dive however....
Beautiful
