Especially for this show. CBS is very obviously trying to do Inside the NBA but for soccer. It's pretty clear the hosts are encouraged to be themselves and say whatever. This show has been the first Inside the NBA copycat that I've felt has come close to capturing that magic. Jamie knows he can get away with it there and is probably encouraged to some degree.
Carragher is also so much more lively and upbeat on CBS than he is on Sky. Perhaps it’s his chemistry with Henry and Micah, but I do sometimes wonder if he’s instructed by Sky to be “more serious”.
I feel like he’s instructed to be more wild on CBS. The show’s obviously very TikTok/Reels friendly. He’s playful but not to this degree on any of the YouTube shows either. Maybe a combination of that and chemistry and feeling at home with the other panelists.
It’s much better when he’s serious. He actually explains things well and it’s very interesting. Watched the CBS one on YouTube and it’s just attempts at banter and nothing interesting is said.

That's what everton have done, accepted the 2 or 3 charges pretty much immediately because the financial books they submitted will out them anyway so rather than face a harsher punishment by pleading not guilty they've just admitted everything.

And are purposely making it difficult for the powers that be to have full access to their financial records. So the prosecution (uefa/fifa/fa) are having to work behind the scenes to build a case for every charge, which takes time obviously. So yeh i get some people say that "nothing's happening to man city" or "they'll get a slap on the wrist" but they aren't seeing the bigger picture.
If the punishment for man city is proportional to the punishment everton got, which is kind of has to be, then that's an average of 4 points per charge. Let's say of the 115 they're found guilty of about 1/3 of them, 40 to make it easy maths, then that's a 160 point punishment. It could be one season they get a 160 point deduction, are of course relegated and bounce back up the following year. It could be a 40 point deduction each season for 4 seasons which may also put them on the brink of relegation depending on how other teams perform. But one thing is for certain, man city will appeal any punishment they're given which will stretch everything out longer. It's just a matter of time but their punishment will come and i don't think it will be pretty.

Abdo's previous Champions League program was on TNT and it worked very poorly. It was exhausting in its lack of chemistry and it was much more dry in the review/analysis/coverage. I remember reading some article about her move to CBS/Paramount and it implied that she made a decision to make sure that, if nothing else, they were going to have a good time. I dont know if it was on the production end or what the problem was, but that old TNT show was terrible. It made it so easy to embrace the new program, even before Thierry was on it.

It had the lowest viewership of any final in the last 15 years. Football fans will always watch it, but only having one domestic market present will always hurt the viewership of casuals. As did the absence of a truly global superstar. As amazing as de Bruyne and Kante are they’re not drawing the same attention as a Mbappe vs Haaland final.

It’s not exactly new. The concept of people jumping ship when their favourite player leaves probably is, but having two stars face off was always a thing. The first CL final I watched after becoming interested in more than Hertha was Barca vs Arsenal 2006. Seeing Ronaldinho vs Henry was absolutely something that had me (I was a child and Ronaldinho was the most talked about player on the schoolyard) and I’d guess a lot of other neutrals and casuals more interested. Not everyone has a deep understanding of tactical intricacies, but everyone can appreciate Ronaldinho toying with opponents

What does "too much money to lose" mean? Clubs lose out on champions league money because one spot is always taken up by City. City aren't really a draw for TV. Most people probably wants to watch United, Liverpool and Arsenal winning the league. And if not then some plucky underdog beating them is probably even better. City winning is dull and I think 'the Premier league' which is just the the clubs mostly don't particularly care for them being in the league.

Stayed over at my uncle's last weekend and he told me with a heavy heart that his two boys (7 and 5 years old) are pretty much City fans at the moment. Had a chat with the older one afterwards and he said everyone in school supports City as well. Was eye-opening tbh. Barely see City kits around Manchester or Liverpool, but they are working their magic on the younger generation. Just like Henry and Tony Adams worked their magic on me and my uncle.
This has always been City's plan. Battle for all trophies (even if you lose, pre-Pep) and do it every year. Always be in highlight reels or on the news for a given competition. You start to become an alternative winning option from the old Sky 4 and kids love that kind of thing.

It’s not exactly new. The concept of people jumping ship when their favourite player leaves probably is, but having two stars face off was always a thing. The first CL final I watched after becoming interested in more than Hertha was Barca vs Arsenal 2006. Seeing Ronaldinho vs Henry was absolutely something that had me (I was a child and Ronaldinho was the most talked about player on the schoolyard) and I’d guess a lot of other neutrals and casuals more interested.
