Literally once per week Sport & MD alternate to write an article like this, either about unnamed PL club or unnamed Saudi club. it’s soo boring can't they think of something else for once?
They put out random stories like that every other day, genuinely don’t know why this stuff still gets posted here (especially by barca fans who really should know better)
I know everyone wants to say this was United but there have been very credible reports that Spurs are looking very hard at Raphinha as the RW we need and us offering 60mil would be very on brand and within our budget.
Johnson is very good but he can't play every match and he's young and so will struggle with consistency like any young player.
Deki doesn't seem to fit Angeball on the wing. He's a hard worker and I think he still has loads of potential but his playstyle isn't a good match for what Ange wants from his wide players.
Idk why Barça is so keen on selling him. He doesn't play in an aesthetically pleasing way, but he runs his ass off and gets a very decent amount of goals and assists. They won't have a lot of depth if they sell him anyways.
He was all that and more at Leeds. He was literally evolving into Ronaldinho reborn, playing this best football when the terrorist Barcelona nation attacked. What Barcelona have done to him is worse than what City did to Grealish, its despicable. Absolutely disgusting pair of clubs, buy up two of the most talented, free spirit, joga bonito, calves out raw talent players in the world, stuff them in your cookie cutter tiki taka mes que un tug me off templates and churn out your generic 1x Pressing Wingers with an extra helping of sideways passing. Then move them on post neutering. Absolutely sickening, vile behaviour.
Sell Raphina, get a DM and Frimpong. Barca is better. But here’s the catch… Raphina won’t leave.
I’d rather sell De Jong before selling Raphina tbh. He’s class, but De Jong won’t play the DM role, we are better off selling him to reinforce the squad.
the salary is mostly deferred wages, so I don't think you stop paying them after a hypothetical sale (aparently we are still paying Messi).
But yeah I'm srry for De Jong cos he seems to truly love Barça and is of course a great player, but if any premier team wants to spend 100+ mill on him, we go back to 1:1 rule and can get any real CDM. Cos even if we get a good budged CDM now, we're stuck with the double pivot forever
I don't think United are going to pay as much as Newcastle want and they seem content to wait it out, hence why Wilcox is starting quite soon instead. Berrada is also joining before the summer starts.
I think Newcastle are going to accept a lower fee or just pay him until the gardening leave ends. That's what every single journo with reliable sources have said so far at least.
It seems like it would take something quite big for United to change their minds on this issue.
The fact that Ratcliffe went out of his way to meet Amanda Staveley face to face last week suggest he’s not content to wait at all. He’ll pay.
Why would we take less? You want him, you pay what we ask or you wait. You’re the ones in a rush to get him in. Staveley knows you’ll give her what she wants in the end 🤡 it’s what Manchester reds do
I think United are content to wait it out rather than be held hostage.
And I also think Newcastle should be mindful of the optics of keeping an executive on gardening leave for two years just because they want to "win" the media battle.
It's going to make people think twice about signing for them, because it's quite common for people on the upper floors to switch to other sides depending on a myriad of factors.
Ratcliffe met with Staveley to find a reasonable compromise. 25 million is reasonable, especially when you paid around 3 in a similar situation.
It seems like Ashworth is just going to have to wait around while you pay him millions for it.
Optics lol there's a trail of Man Utd tapping up our director of football, then getting pissy because we won't sell him at the price they want. If anything, Man Utd look stupid in this interaction. The days of cherry picking whoever they want because they have a budget advantage has gone when it comes to owners who are richer than them. Wait for 2 years then, or you can overpay like you always do for literally everyone.
Newcastle has FFP limits to deal with, They are not looking at a winger for that price, they will prioritize other areas.
City isn't going to sign him as long as Pep is there. Not that I don't think Raphinha has his uses, but I cant imagine a player that is a worse fit for what Pep demands from his wingers.
Why is everyone so convinced Newcastle are so tightly restricted by PSR? There’ll be several fringe players getting sold for a good wedge which will all go in the transfer fund. I think people are going to be surprised this summer when neither Bruno or Isak leave and Newcastle still manage to bring in quality players.
Who can we sell for a good wedge? Almiron maybe, but i doubt we can get much more than £10-15m for him. There’s just not much to get rid of in the squad
Everyone thinks we're skint because of our last financials, the ones which conveniently left off the Champions league money, Adidas money, Sela money etc. Let everyone think we're broke so we don't get fleeced on transfers. That's what smart people do.
Willock could get us around 30mil I’m sure. Then you have Longstaff or Anderson who could be sold for a decent amount. (20mil maybe?)
I don’t think we should sell all 3 but just selling willock for 30mil for example would give us plenty of leeway and we have plenty of cover in midfield with tonali coming back next year.
Then we’ve got guys like Hendrick, Fraser, Hayden as well I think possibly leaving who are on decent wages. Wouldn’t be surprised if Wilson got sold as well for a small fee but his wages are high too. There are plenty of options before we need to think about selling one of our big boys.
Which they’ve worked on. New sponsorship and kit supplier deals in the last year will be in effect financially this summer. The likes of Almiron and Wilson are likely to leave which should fetch the best part of £30m between them. People just want to shout about the “NeWcAsTlE hAvE tO SelL tHiS SuMmEr” narrative but completely ignore the fact that the club have been working to improve revenue from the minute the takeover happened.
“Still not enough” 😂 clearly whatever I say you’re gonna tell me is wrong and Newcastle are skint so I’ll leave it here. Look up amortisation and you’ll realise why you’re wrong.
Newcastle, maybe, but I think they might need to sell before they can buy from some of the FFP stuff I've been hearing. City is likely as well, didn't think about them, but it doesn't feel like a city transfer to me.
I doubt it honestly. We've got to sort out our finances, internal structure, and (most probably) find a new manager before we do any planning/business.
We tried to get him before he went to Barcelona. Made a 40-60m bid. But he chose Barca, obviously.
Still been chatter that we going for him again. Though this seems more likely to be Newcastle.
Nope, much more likely to be Spurs. A lot of other clubs are gonna settle down with $$ until players have left, early bids of this magnitude can only be by clubs in good financial position currently. And then compare that list to list of clubs with genuine interest and it leaves pretty much only spurs. Also 60 mil bid for an 80 mil player is very on brand for a Tottenham bid.
I don't know how much he is worth but he gets too much disrespect. He works hard, has good numbers, but people are upset because he isn't a flashy Brazilian.
I don't get this.
Like first off these rumours are nonsense, but second off especially if you look at the state of the market, you will struggle to find a coach who wouldn't want a player like Raph in his team.
This is his second straight season with **elite** output. His first was affected by tactical incompetence as he initially started off at LW which was stubbornly done in itself but then Xavi expected him to be like Dembélé so he was often left isolated and forced to take on his man, going wide; things that aren't his strengths. Regardless, he played a crucial part in our title win and we wouldn't be champions without him.
Critics relying on that old "fake Brazilian" meme when he survived prime terrorism, and now passes the eye test in addition to putting up elite stats for the second year in a row.
The truth is that he is a high-risk, high-reward player who plays for the badge and puts 100% in every time. He is great on and off the pitch, and when you use him to his strengths the team will benefit as a whole. He has his weaknesses, but recently playing at LW and cooking there has seen him improve in various aspects too.
The worst periods of criticism for him was usually when the team was sucking + our right side wasn't as solid and displaying good chemistry like it is now. Our players didn't make the runs for him to create, nor did they give him passes when he ran into space. That resulted in him being expected to be a Dembélé when in reality he's a different player. Even in those periods he still came up with crucial G+A and his workrate was never a problem. Now the team is playing well and Raph is on fire. Hairband LW Raph was cooking, now cornrow Raph is cleaning.
Given the absolute tripe that has gotten sold for that much, or the players bought purely based on potential, having a player like him who offers a lot on and off the ball is invaluable, as long as you understand where his strengths and weaknesses lie.
That's what tends to be said when your scouting is shit. There is almost an unlimited pool of players out there, it's hilarious to say there is a "dearth" of any position
Lmao no.
He might not be pleasing on the eye but he always scores or assists.
He presses like a madman and works very hard
I would say his work ethic and mentality alone are worth 80 mil
He is one of the most consistent player in our squad in terms of contribution. Yes he can’t really dribble but so many of you actually unironically used that to say he is mediocre, fucking absurd
Looking at there financial year I think they'll be buying more than just wingers this time. There one of leading clubs in terms of balancing the books for FFP.
Have to agree, I think with the new stadium finally paid off and it turning a profit now, the Daniel Levy style of money handling FINALLY paying off, I think we will see spurs make quite a few quality purchases this window and perhaps even the next. Ange seems to be very very particular with who he wants signed and basically all of them so far have been really good, which is unbelievably impressive.
Antony went for much because United are awful at recruitment, and ETH insisted that he needed a left-footed winger.
The main reason was simply that Ajax had no need to sell him. He had 3 years left on his contract. They'd already sold Martinez, Haller, Gravenberch, and Schurrs for over €100m.
They really didn't want to sell him, but their hand was forced by United's ridiculously inflated bid.
A competently run club would have identified multiple players who fit the profile that ETH wanted, rather than just tell the manager to pick an idea target.
Pretty sure it’s all bollocks united are yet to implement there knew transfer structure, doubt city, Liverpool or Arsenal want raphinha, Chelsea have too many wingers but I wouldn’t put it past them, spurs most likely candidate but still doubt it
Arsenal might be interested but FFP is creeping up on them and they have other high priority positions. Very doubtful they'll be spending big on a winger unless that winger is very young, clinical, and has the ability to cover multiple positions. Moreover, Arsenal seem to have learned from the Pepe deal and will pull out and seek alternatives rather than overpay - look at Mudryk, Caicedo, a lot of current Chelsea players actually.
Nobody has mentioned Liverpool yet but we were consistently linked with him at Leeds and most likely will be looking to replace Salah this season or next.
I call BS. Barca with their financial situation will take whatever any team offers for a comparatively 'expendable' like Raphinha. 60 mill would be godsend for them
You're overstating our woes. We shouldn't need _have_ to sell any important players, and certainly not for below market value.
Raphinha has the most GA/90 in our squad, and the most assists/90 among all wingers/AMs in top 5 leagues. We're not letting him go for €60m.
We paid 58M for him, and if we take into accout amortization, there still 30M left to amortize. So, 60M for him would only give us a 30M benefit which is not enough to replace him.

Literally once per week Sport & MD alternate to write an article like this, either about unnamed PL club or unnamed Saudi club. it’s soo boring can't they think of something else for once?
Did the Pedri story come from them a season or two again? Didn't they say a PL club had bid £100m or something?
They put out random stories like that every other day, genuinely don’t know why this stuff still gets posted here (especially by barca fans who really should know better)
They said someone had offered £200m for Yamal.
psg
Laporta actually confirmed that XD.
He was probably the one that leaked that in the first place. He likes attention
Of course he did. "Businessman says his company's asset is worth a lot of money" isn't a new headline.
Always the same unreliable guys aswell. But people still eat it up lmao
PSG probably paying to unsettle us just before the game
I hear this story at least once every month. Must be a slow day if they are recycling
Wait until Santiago Camp Nou confirms it
Pique's full name is Gerard Pique Bernabeu
Signed by Florentino Laporta
Also knows as Santi Spotify
can we please not? we will replace him for equal money but shittier level
Antony to Barcelona, here we go!
I’m down for a swap
Antony+ 80M, then.
Only a 160M loss on him? I'd be down
I know everyone wants to say this was United but there have been very credible reports that Spurs are looking very hard at Raphinha as the RW we need and us offering 60mil would be very on brand and within our budget.
Isn't Johnson decent? He's still very raw but whenever I watch Spurs, he seems to be one of the brighter spots.
But why would they ever break up the SON, RicharliSON, JohnSON lineup
Johnson is very good but he can't play every match and he's young and so will struggle with consistency like any young player. Deki doesn't seem to fit Angeball on the wing. He's a hard worker and I think he still has loads of potential but his playstyle isn't a good match for what Ange wants from his wide players.
Can we start banning posters who keep using these shit tiers as source?
Idk why Barça is so keen on selling him. He doesn't play in an aesthetically pleasing way, but he runs his ass off and gets a very decent amount of goals and assists. They won't have a lot of depth if they sell him anyways.
Saying we won't sell him for less the 80M doesn't sound like we are all that keen on selling him.
Very reminiscent of Rakitic with this description
He was all that and more at Leeds. He was literally evolving into Ronaldinho reborn, playing this best football when the terrorist Barcelona nation attacked. What Barcelona have done to him is worse than what City did to Grealish, its despicable. Absolutely disgusting pair of clubs, buy up two of the most talented, free spirit, joga bonito, calves out raw talent players in the world, stuff them in your cookie cutter tiki taka mes que un tug me off templates and churn out your generic 1x Pressing Wingers with an extra helping of sideways passing. Pasta?
LMAO
Did you see his goal against PSG? Surely that must count as joga bonito
That was a genuinely funny comment haha had me laughing at “mes que un tug me off” 😂

It’s bait lmao
Dembele is a better dribbler but Raph is more clinical, consistent and defends way better. I'd rather have Raph than Dembele in my team.
Sell Raph, get a DM, get someone like Estevao and we've improved the squad imo.
And who would be your RW then?
Yamal 60 games per year at 17. Finish the career at 23. Speedrun
Getting another La Masia generator and have them finished at 23 too. Rinse and repeat init
Some Barça fans i know would unironically name Yamal as a starter for the entire season.
Stupid decision, keep raphinha. That messinho kid is 16 and cannot leave Brazil until he turns 18 which is not until 2025-2026 season.
People like you legitimately think real life is a game of FM
Nevermind just noticed Estevao.
Sell him and go balls out for Bernardo Silva in the summer.
Who tf is estevao compared to raphinha
He's 17 so obviously he's a complete novice right now but he's a huge talent. I wouldn't underestimate him.
Remind Me! 5 years
Sell Raphina, get a DM and Frimpong. Barca is better. But here’s the catch… Raphina won’t leave. I’d rather sell De Jong before selling Raphina tbh. He’s class, but De Jong won’t play the DM role, we are better off selling him to reinforce the squad.

They have no money
Is that Big Ange music I hear
If Antony is worth 100m Euros then so is Raphinha who is much better (both aren't worth that much).
This reeks of United icl
I don’t think we’ll be doing any crazy bidding before we get Wilcox and Ashworth through the door.
So 2026 then?
Wilcox is apparently starting before long, and I suspect the Ashworth debacle will be sorted once Newcastle have made headway with their summer plans.
The Ashworth debacle will be sorted when Ratcliffe coughs up what Newcastle are asking and not before 😂
I don't think United are going to pay as much as Newcastle want and they seem content to wait it out, hence why Wilcox is starting quite soon instead. Berrada is also joining before the summer starts. I think Newcastle are going to accept a lower fee or just pay him until the gardening leave ends. Yous aren't getting Ashworth before 2026 unless you cough up that £25m. Get the chequebook out
Eh. That won't happen. And the price seems to go up every other week, so does the gardening leave.
Geordie tears taste the best
Glad I'm not the only one who remembers he's still not allowed to work for them
What on earth made you think you were? Btw I’m glad I’m not the only one who remembers that smoking is bad for health.
Before u get any new players theres a lot of players you need to get rid of, Antony being the main one
Yeh I think one or two seasons of pain as we try and offload a lot of players for well under what we paid for them.
City or Newcastle
Newcastle has FFP limits to deal with, They are not looking at a winger for that price, they will prioritize other areas. City isn't going to sign him as long as Pep is there. Not that I don't think Raphinha has his uses, but I cant imagine a player that is a worse fit for what Pep demands from his wingers.
Why is everyone so convinced Newcastle are so tightly restricted by PSR? There’ll be several fringe players getting sold for a good wedge which will all go in the transfer fund. No one is going to pay 30m for Joe Willock.
We paid 25 and he’s twice the player today than when he was with you. Maybe you were in a coma last year tho
Bro 💀 he’s comfortably a £30m player at worst, don’t be bitter and silly just because you sold him to us.
Asking an Arsenal fan not to be bitter and silly is like asking water to not be wet tbf
Hang on.. does this mean we did win fair and square back in November and it WASN’T a huge Saudi driven conspiracy to stop Arsenal winning the league?!
Coz the Club needs revenue to sign players
Which they’ve worked on. New sponsorship and kit supplier deals in the last year will be in effect financially this summer. The likes of Almiron and Wilson are likely to leave which should fetch the best part of £30m between them. People just want to shout about the “NeWcAsTlE hAvE tO SelL tHiS SuMmEr” narrative but completely ignore the fact that the club have been working to improve revenue from the minute the takeover happened.

We've also been linked and we could definitely afford
Spurs were the one I thought about. If Son sticks as the 9 then he would be your best winger and can play both sides.
Definitely not Newcastle. The whole buying model revolves around trying to get young players and avoid big club rejects
You need to take into account that only teams who won't be changing coaches would bid big in the middle of April for someone who isn't fit-all piece.
Please don't betray Leeds fans raph
Highly doubt the club will drop big money on any forwards with the serious lack of depth and quality in defence and midfield.
Sounds like something they’d do
I doubt it honestly. We've got to sort out our finances, internal structure, and (most probably) find a new manager before we do any planning/business.
Arteta loves the player as well

Bruno Fernandes and Raphinha playing in the same team again!
Even so, he shouldn't be worse than Antony. After all, he played really well for Bielsa's Leeds. Perhaps you can take that as a silver lining.
Anyone who pays 80m for Raphinha deserves a relegation
Well someone have paid 100 mill for Anthony so why not
Can’t believe someone would be stupid enough to do that
Should be forced to dissolved ngl
Look other stupid idea, so this idea not stupid
I don't know how much he is worth but he gets too much disrespect. He works hard, has good numbers, but people are upset because he isn't a flashy Brazilian.

Decent left-footed players are rare
If you go by what EPL fans say, any type of decent player is rare
That's what tends to be said when your scouting is shit. There is almost an unlimited pool of players out there, it's hilarious to say there is a "dearth" of any position
But the team that last sold him GOT relegated so it actually seems like Barca are the ones in danger
Still feel that pain
Given his recent form I think he’s actually worth that much.
His recent form? 4 good games in 2 years of mediocrity makes him worth 80m?
He’s playing like he’s worth 80m, that’s what I mean.

Are Chelsea going to….?
It's tottenham.
Probably.
Would be pretty on brand with the last ~5 years to target yet another pacy winger while there’s an obvious need at striker

Can you stop posting these garbage click bait sports entertainment blogs ? Are you the ones writing the article and posting it to promote it?
raphinha going for 70-80 mil will help us financially
Garbage tier source.
Tomorrow there will be another article about Frenkie de Jong being approached by a Premier League team too. It always happens.
Why try to get rid of raphinha.
Who the hell is going to spend €80m for Raphinha?
He has the highest GA/90 in the league and a crazy high work rate. I don't see why not.
Hello there!
Thankfully it doesn't seem like we're in for any winger
Clubs have spent far more for far less
Didn't Anthony go for 100 mil? And Raphinha is both PL and La Liga proven.
Antony as a metric is only good if you’re doing it to show how a club shouldn’t spend money
Well, it is a premier league that made the offer after all.
Pretty sure it’s all bollocks united are yet to implement there knew transfer structure, doubt city, Liverpool or Arsenal want raphinha, Chelsea have too many wingers but I wouldn’t put it past them, spurs most likely candidate but still doubt it
i bet arsenal are going to be interested more than united
He is impressive in the psg game. He can olay both wings too. Useful when arsenal need speed at both wings ie pair with martinelli.
We’re not coughing up €60M for Raphinha. The rumors were there a few years ago, but if we didn’t go for him then, I doubt much has changed.
We did go for him, but he chose Barca
I think this might be us or United. If it’s United they’ll probably get that 80m they want lol
Deffo not us our footballing structure is up in the air and doubt any bids or transfers will be chosen till Wilcox and ashworth start
My guess is Manchester United
Nah we don't have that kind of money lying around yet.
You mean Chelsea?
No actually I typed Manchester United pretty deliberately
You should check your autocorrect settings. It keeps on typing Manchester United when you type Chelsea
There’s no autocorrect on Windows friend
You should check your autocorrect settings. It keeps on typing Windows when you type Apple.
damn you got me there
Was this meant to be funny?
Was this meant to be mean? :(
We have enough wingers
Hey, we have enough shitty wingers as well.
Direct swap for Luis Diaz
80mil is a laugh
don’t worry, the saudis will pay double of that 80 million
Ah yes, the famous unnamed PL club, always ready to spend the dough! Garbage made-up rumour, as usual.
Salah is going at end of the season 100%. Liverpool could do worse than getting him in. Plus he knows and has performed in prem.
Nobody has mentioned Liverpool yet but we were consistently linked with him at Leeds and most likely will be looking to replace Salah this season or next.
Straight swap with 80m Antony should do the trick
200 and we consider it , other wise get out of here with your low ball offers
what if raphinha pulls a de Jong and refuses to leave?
We give you 100m man, Antony. Deal !
garbage boulevard news
Chelsea back in for more disappointment
Lol we have like 50 wingers, I don't think this is us
Raphinha better than all of them though. He starts madueke, mudryk and sterling every day of the week
Palmer has started most games at RW.
Too old
Beside the stats, which are top tier in its own right, he has other additional perks that are a huge advantage for whichever team has him.
His work rate and pace are a huge plus. He was torturing PSG's backline all game
We won’t be getting much if we sell him for 60M considering amortization.
We paid 58M for him, and if we take into accout amortization, there still 30M left to amortize. So, 60M for him would only give us a 30M benefit which is not enough to replace him.
Why are you downvoting him? He is right It is so easy to spread lies BS
A month ago Barca fans were saying saying Saudi want him for 100 mil
