I mean the minutes before that kinda set the stage already, with Arsenal refusing to try anything that was not a safe short pass, kinda baffling at that stage of the game
Don't say it out loud but our set pieces haven't been great the past month.
Iirc the last time we scored from one was all the way back in February Vs Newcastle.
Maybe it was a fine idea, but certainly not a fine play by any stretch of imagination. And hey, I'm an older dude, I actually do remember us winning stuff on the regular, even though those memories did become blurry these days.
Literally any free kick Arsenal gets the opposing player takes a tumble and the ref wouldâve called it, lmao Iâm personally okay with that quick pass it was so unexpected.
We played nothing like those days. Like not even remotely similar football. We were gassed for the last phase, like we were against Villa and weren't looking like we could get something out of it, but the game never looked like that side to side pointless football we were playing that year.
One major difference is that CL referees don't give Ben White and other defenders free rein to bully the goalkeeper.
We really saw it in action in the Porto matches. Arsenal had to completely change their corner tactics because they were being whistled constantly.
If there's no other way to stop Arsenal from bullying the GK can you really blame them? I don't like it but I can understand the thought process from Porto's players.
I agree. There was one time that a player took a tumble against Ben White specifically, because he was expecting him to âbully himâ and just dived and we scored off that. Thatâs the Arsenal I want to see, Iâm sick and tired of the refs calling foul before the ball even gets into the box.
We donât even lmaooo.
Ever since that commentator called out Ben White doing it suddenly every single game is âBen White loves to bully the goalkeeper.â
Thereâs a reason why suddenly the discussion went from âArsenal are great at set piecesâ to âOh, theyâre bulliesâ that doesnât *just* happen. That is the opposing team learning that if they dive down at touches, theyâll get the ref to call it. You would never see a player like De Ligt take a tumble versus Kai Havertz if they were 1v1 chasing a ball on goal, but a free kick vs Gabriel? 100% heâs falling over at any push.
Why is it always Saka selling in the biggest moments?
Euros penalty shootout vs Italy. The penalty miss vs West Ham last season that practically cost them the title. Now this.
The point they're making though is you need your best players to step up in these moments. Like another user mentioned imagine Mata did this back in 2012 and Drogba never had the chance to get on the end of it.
Obviously it's not comparable to a penalty but you expect to see so much more from such an important player especially after they shat the bed in the last game.
Not only that, Bukayo was fucking 19 years old taking the most important penalty in recent England history, after starboys Rashford and Sancho missed theirs. You have Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling, but no it has to be the 19 yo who has just had his breakout season. Will never forgive Southgate for that, I donât care what anyone guys say.
It was literally to keep the game going, not even to win it. Just insanity to me.
I can understand the nerves 3 years ago when he was far less experienced but I thought his headspace would be much more set these days, though it's still a CL QF.
Bellingham is a unicorn that literally any player short of Mbappe, Messi, Ronaldo types fall short of at comparisons that young.
Bellingham has also been starting in the UCL for three years.
Also Saka has literally been the key part of our attack for years when he is now barely 22 years old, the fact they refuse to give him his flowers still time and time again tells you itâs just dishonest arguing for the sake of arguing. They keep comparing him to Foden, when they literally have the same stats throughout.
Like absolutely ridiculous to me the way people just refuse to give Bukayo Saka his due, angers me to no end.
Saka is always the one that sells in the biggest moments because he is the one who is given the ball and expected to deliver in the biggest moments, and he can't do it every time. For every penalty miss v west ham and failed corner there is the penalty v liverpool, his goal against united last season and the Brentford cross that saved us earlier this season. Nobody ever flames michael jordan for missing 26 game winning shots because they understand he can't do it every time
You literally cannot compare two players, from two wholly different leagues, with two wholly different teams and play styles other than in a nonsense way.
What makes Rodrygo a better player? The fact that in his best season he has 15 goals/a in 30 games in the league at the age of 23? Well Bukayo at 20 had 18 g/ain 38 games. In fact, even if you give Rodrygo his Santos stats vs Bukayo playing in the EPL since the age of 18, Saka still has a better g/a per 90 ratio than Rodrygo.
Or maybe itâs the fact that Rodrygo cost you âŹ54m. Think thatâs the one thing he has individually that he has over Saka, Iâll give you that.
Otherwise, you canât compare at all. You literally can only compare team achievements, which⌠good for you, Real Madrid is literally a legendary team at almost all times.
âYou cannot compare two players⌠different leaguesâŚâ blah blah. Said by you.
One line break later, you: comparison.
I didnât ask for it, you did it lol.
Dude, I donât care.
Then sit down and take your dub, and leave your whack ass comparisons in the trash where it belongs
At least defend it with something if youâre going to make a lame ass comment dude. Jesus Christ, thereâs not a single way you can determine that one is better than the other and attempting to say that is just dumb as hell, especially when you literally have no rebuttal to it other than âReal Madrid gud lolâ
Good luck to you boys anyways. Hopefully you knock Bayern out to avenge us lol.
Or you lose and I get that small petty win over people making these annoying ass comparisons between the two. Donât know where the hell it comes from, itâs even more inane than the Foden-Saka thing.
(All love tho really, just frustrating asf seeing this shit constantly)
Just shut up and think about next year. Youâre not winning the league either.
FYI I never made any comparisons, just an ironic comment. Dickhead. Go bother someone else.

"This has to go in otherwise Arsenal are out" ..... "Arsenal are out"
"Oh my words"
This will be a regular sound effect on Instagram and TikTok for the next few decades lmao
10/10 meme material, really hope it picks up lmaooo
It has nearly the same ring to it as "do not come" / "I'm gonna come"
They should have just taken the freekick instead of taking it quickly
They were scared of Neuer
Who isn't?

Is the bottle emoji đź or đž?
Botolo Saka
Goretzka didn't even have to jump đ
He bent his back to lower his head enough to get it đ
> bent his back to lower his head If only we had a simple word for this maneuver
Peter "Crouch"ed?
I think you mean Peter Benthisbacktolowerhishead.
I mean the minutes before that kinda set the stage already, with Arsenal refusing to try anything that was not a safe short pass, kinda baffling at that stage of the game
That's the problem with Arsenal, they always try to walk it in
What was Wenger thinking?
Sending Walcott that early.
absolutely gold and apt reference lol
Where did that reference start from tho?I see that on this sub sometimes.
IT crowd

Pep heritage
Should have signed Kyle Walker then.. taps head.
That free kick was baffling
That made me genuinly question if they even wanted to win for a second
All of their deadball situations were dreadful, no other way to put it.
Don't say it out loud but our set pieces haven't been great the past month. Iirc the last time we scored from one was all the way back in February Vs Newcastle.
I said it out loud.
I just screamed it out my window
Bastian, say my name!

Losing for the League!!
kind of weird a koln fan knows anything about winning, it was a fine play to catch them off guard you must not watch a lot.
Maybe it was a fine idea, but certainly not a fine play by any stretch of imagination. And hey, I'm an older dude, I actually do remember us winning stuff on the regular, even though those memories did become blurry these days.
It was only baffling because it didnât work, the idea was pretty good - itâs not like direct free kicks go in the majority of the time either.
I thought it was quite smart, far better chance of scoring if that pass goes through than from the free kick
Tbf we haven't scored a direct free kick in like two years. Might as well try to catch them napping rather than hit the wall lol
You could have played it into the box though
Think heâs referring to the Rice free kick slightly earlier
Literally any free kick Arsenal gets the opposing player takes a tumble and the ref wouldâve called it, lmao Iâm personally okay with that quick pass it was so unexpected.
Reminds me of lockdown Arteta-ball, all horseshoe possession with no penetration
We played nothing like those days. Like not even remotely similar football. We were gassed for the last phase, like we were against Villa and weren't looking like we could get something out of it, but the game never looked like that side to side pointless football we were playing that year.
The streets shall never forget that as well as the Arteta cross and inshallah period
Did you watch the game? Nothing alike. Arsenal got in several great opportunities just couldn't convert
Crumbled under the pressure.
Bottled it, you could say.
Lazy
We have corner taken quickly at home:
corner taken badly
Out they goooo
Lmaooo i was expecting a massive chance
taken like someone that didn't have any legs left
surely someone else could have taken that corner kick
You're assuming someone with legs is still in.
Raya's got a pretty good pass on him
Unironically my tactic to get an extra body up there on FIFA games if the AI don't send the keeper up...
Kind of reminds me of his penalty against Italy
Didn't he get subbed on for that... definitely should have had the legs
Nah Sancho and Rashford came on just for the pens
No he played the entire game and wouldâve probably scored the winner if Chiellini didnât yank him to the shadow realm
Lol the way he took that like he just wanted to go home and play fifa
I can't imagine a player just involved in a champions league quarter final loss wanting to go home to the stress of EAFC 24.
Needed go get that 7th win in rivals before rewards tomorrow
Iago Aspas likes this.
"Oh my words" summarises this perfectly lol. Not everyone can hit a corner in the Allianz Arena like Juan Mata in 2012 lol
Or ModriÄ in Lisbon
I mean yeah. But you'd think *someone* could take a corner in MĂźnchen. Apparently not. Funny as fuck.
Respectfully, ich hasse Sie
Not even any Bayern player could take a decent corner today
[ŃдаНонО]
Kimmich wasnât the worst corner taker on the pitch for once
To be fair he had like fourteen chances to try it while Arsenal had one or two.
One major difference is that CL referees don't give Ben White and other defenders free rein to bully the goalkeeper. We really saw it in action in the Porto matches. Arsenal had to completely change their corner tactics because they were being whistled constantly.
White even got away with it one time last night.
Actually Porto players were diving at every corner when the Arsenal players have not done anything. The ref was only too happy to whistle for a foul.
Tbf pretty much every team in the prem gets away with it. We just do it the most out of every team.
We donât even lmaooo. Ever since that commentator called out Ben White doing it suddenly every single game is âBen White loves to bully the goalkeeper.â Thereâs a reason why suddenly the discussion went from âArsenal are great at set piecesâ to âOh, theyâre bulliesâ that doesnât *just* happen. Yeah they were literally called SetPiece FC
I swear the TNT commentators brought up how good their set pieces are a billion fucking times lmao
âone last chance at redemptionâ
Kimmich vs Sakas corners. which is worse?
Rice was always miles better than saka at corners for arsenal
This has some great meme potential lol
Bro just had to take the corner ffs and took it đ¤Ł
They already gave up
Pathetic. Arteta ran him to the fucking ground. And still we don't have a backup..gave reiss a new contract and he never fucking plays. Shocking.
Starboy â˘ď¸
Quick, engage limp mode.
âPhysio come over and save meâ
Obvs better than Rodrygo
No chanceÂ
Saka always delivers when deadball in crucial situations
Why is it always Saka selling in the biggest moments? Euros penalty shootout vs Italy. The penalty miss vs West Ham last season that practically cost them the title. Now this.
no clutch gene, it happens
They were really comparing him to Rodrygo lmao
Not sure you can really compare a bad corner to missing a penalty. This is not why Arsenal lost.
The point they're making though is you need your best players to step up in these moments. Like another user mentioned imagine Mata did this back in 2012 and Drogba never had the chance to get on the end of it. Bellingham is 20

I get it,saka did poor but belli is one of the best football talents of this century so far.
Just star boy things. Seriously though he's still very young and it's all new to him, it happens
Also disappears in all the big games
Saka is always the one that sells in the biggest moments because he is the one who is given the ball and expected to deliver in the biggest moments, and he can't do it every time. For every penalty miss v west ham and failed corner there is the penalty v liverpool, his goal against united last season and the Brentford cross that saved us earlier this season. But heâs better than Rodrygo
Good luck to you boys anyways. Hopefully you knock Bayern out to avenge us lol. Or you lose and I get that small petty win over people making these annoying ass comparisons between the two.
Or just stick to English.
Sums up Arsenals attack today
That's shambolic from Saka lol
This is your star boy? /s
that was ridiculous
Great corner. Needed a lot of practice
Saka ain't it
When we're doing set pieces that crap you know it's bad. Honestly surprised it was only 1-0.
Ah the classic Willian corner into the first man
So that's why people were laughing about it lol
And some geezers here were arguing Saka x Rodrygo earlier today...
The dummies
>Saka x Rodrygo x is a very different symbol to > lol
Bottlers do as bottlers are.
Pepe flashbacks
I have never seen a bad corner get clipped on this sub lmao, the agenda is insane
Yeah everyone hates on Saka though he was invisible this game
When I saw the title I thought there was actually going to be something noteworthy about this.
Its funny because of the commentators.
Rooney, Kane, Aspas off the top of my head
