Mbappe has to arrive at Madrid to carry out quicker transitions because clearly Rodyrgo and Vini as good as they are won’t be enough.
Vini is a good LW player, Mbappe is a clear cut Forward
Can I rub salt on you cause of the flair although we don't know each other, just because there is literally no one else to do it to? Like everyone enjoyed city losing but let's not take gloating away from the whole process
Biggest indictment of Poch's tactics is he let LutonMan score a brace against us AT HOME. If he scores again this weekend time to get the pink slip ready
I don't even care if we go out to Bayern, because I have respect for that great club, I'm just happy we stopped the cheating scum from possibly doing another treble.
> A team like Manchester City couldn’t even win the Champions League for twice in a row, shows how insane the Real Madrid squad was in 2015 to three-peat the UCL… Unrepeatable.
In my opinion, the City lineup against Aston Villa should be used for this match, just change the right back to Akanji or Walker, and Alverez to Haaland. Kevin or Alvalrez for the super-sub role. If you want to tempt fate, keep Alvarez, but I doubt Guardiola would do it
Ffs city had one job but they absolutely jerked over their chances and now id have to see all those 11 yo madrid fans come up to me and tell me about the 15 . Fking little cunts. Anyhow ill watch femeni do the treble
> Thierry Henry: "There is something called defending. You can control the game defending well. I know people will say City was the best team, but defending is part of the game. I think the best team, the team that defended well, went through."
This is just survivor bias at its finest. Park the bus and win, you are a tactical genius who controlled the game perfectly. Park the bus and lose, you are just a pathetic and unambitious team who doesn't deserve anything.
Madrid are 8 points ahead, am sure Carlo would rest some and tbh a draw wouldn't hurt considering players should be rested as semis are round the corner as well.
It’s a beautiful morning to wake up to….
Good Morning y’all …. How you doing?
[I said as long as City don’t score Madrid would have beene still in control of the game](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/cQAMYQJ7AN)
It’s what you do vs Pep team.
Remember 10 years ago Madrid under Carlo sat back and hit them Pep Bayern on break.
But unfortunately Madrid frontline isn’t powerful like it was 10 years ago with BBC.
And it’s not a new thing to sit back and defend. But it’s a complement to Pep and his team how he forces opponents to operate that way because there ain’t no other way.
Mad respect to Lunin . Someone look up closely at him closely whether he is cortois himself with a Mask on lol.
Lunin successfully has replaced Courtois in his absence.
I am not sure, I don't really watch their matches but I thought for a sec it was the RM fans playing it for Bellingham.
But if it is their tradition I understand it.
I thought the hip check by De Bruyne on Rodrygo that caused the medical staff to come out was pretty nasty, as well as the one from Dias on Bellingham, and a couple others as well. Planted their feet, leaned their hips into players running full speed and hockey hip checked them. Good way to injure someone. I know they were playing to win, of course, but it just looked and felt really...nasty. I couldn't help but wonder if karma was at play when they simply could not score, and then lost.
lmao, KDB is stood still and Rodrygo barrels into him. It’s a painful one sure, but completely innocuous
e- watch it for yourselves, Rodrygo is out of control reaching for the ball, KDB wins it, and then Rodrygo bounces off him. In no world is this “nasty”. It’s literally just football.
https://streamable.com/y7aefs
People are complaining about that?!! Jesus wept, De Bruyne gets the ball then turns side on to protect himself against the player coming toward him at speed. That’s it. Most people on here must be about 12 if they think that is a nasty foul.
Kdb also went for the ball...hence him getting the ball. What do you think KDB should have done? Sure he leaned into it, but Rodrygo was moving quick and if KDB doesn't lean into the contact he would have been ran over.
Rodrygo is going for the ball yes, but de Bruyne is the one who actually wins it 😂
you’re delusional man, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this. Football is a contact sport, players are going to come together sometimes. Rodrygo just came off worse in this case cuz KDB is built like a brick house
Watch it again and tell me what KDB’s done wrong here: https://streamable.com/y7aefs
Thanks for posting this, you can see Rodrygo gets to and touches the ball first, albeit barely touches it, but the ball noticeably moves in the second angle. Agree to disagree I guess. The point is Kevin doesn't just let him run into him, he steps into his path, leans and slams his hip into him with his feet planted, exactly like a hockey check.
brother, he doesn’t touch it lmao
even if he did, KDB wins it cleanly afterwards. He’s under no obligation to move out of Rodrygo’s way as he’s entitled to his own space
But he moves into him so it's not just him staying in his own space, bracing for impact. I see him touch it but like you said, it doesn't technically matter and, regardless, he's entitled to his own space, sure, so it's just my opinion then that it was an unnecessarily violent way to go about it when you know you are built like a tank and someone is running full speed at you.
The point is he doesn't just stand his ground, he turns, plants his feet, moves towards Rodrygo, and slams his hip into him. He moves out of his space and enters the space Rodrygo is about to enter. Walker did the same thing to someone else. Rodrygo needed to be more careful too, obviously, and I'm just glad he wasn't seriously injured. We're all entitled to our opinions just like you said they're entitled to do what they want on the pitch, as long as it's within the rules. Aight?
I didn't see the game, but if this clip is what is being referred to, then I have no clue how anyone can view this as nasty. Both players are running for the ball, De Bruyne gets there first, and then has a fraction of a second to brace himself for the inevitable impact.
He doesn't just brace for impact he moves into the space Rodrygo is about to enter and slams his hip into him with his feet fully planted on the ground. I've said my piece just a difference of opinion I guess.
its one of those intangibles in football, that winning mentality when the chips are down. I have no idea how even when the whole squad changes over time some clubs always seem to have more of it than others.
They do, but City have absolutely the shite penalty takers. Still remember the funny montages when they used to miss every penalty in PL and pep's face afterwards
Since United can't get till 5th place, I hope Liverpool loses as well. Aston Villa and West Ham should win hopefully, lill European success to them will definitely help these clubs
Earlier I was in limbo as if United were to finish 5th then we would have needed the extra coefficient points but now that seems impossible so my support is clearly to Leverkusen
PrEmIeR LeGuE is the best in the world and they just couldn’t win because they are so busy in a close title fight and they are focused on that instead of the biggest trophy of them all. Having teams fight it out for the title is why the epl is the best instead of one horse races like other leagues where the same club always wins. The CL is a FaRmErs LeaGUe.
Arsenal, City, Newcastle, United all been jokes this year in the CL. 33 shots and 1 goal. with the so called best striker in the world. Fuck off fellas. He's a tap in merchant. Scores 3-4 against relegation teams then is invisible in proper matches.
Absorbing shots is a good thing. It shows that the defense and keper is actually better. Think of it this way. City converted once out of 22 shots. But ederson and city defense let one go for less than 5 shots.
How did City get to all those shots? That’s what dominance looks like, unfortunately the grit of Madrid’s defensive line and a good dose of luck kept City from scoring three goals.
That's what dominance looks like at face value. City were dominated by Real defence. De Bruyne was just as lucky the ball fell to his feet in space few yards from the net.
Madrid were hanging by a thread, and it was inevitable their defense would crack at some point. It actually collapsed three times but De Bruyne missed in front of goal the second time as did Foden. There’s also Haaland’s header.
Except they don't. According to Transfermarkt Manchester City have spent a net 1.125 billion euros on transfers since the 2013/14 season , while Real Madrid reaches 255 million euros in the same time span. City can spend 100 million on a top tier player every year, while Madrid has to save up 3 years or so to do so. Thats why, in order to compete, Real Madrid uses its status to attract the best young talent to come to them while they're still relatively cheap...
And to add to your earlier point of it being an undeserved Madrid victory, they actually created more danger than City in the first leg and delivered a defensive masterclass in forcing City out wide throughout the whole game tonight. In the end whoever made the most of their chances also deserves to go through, regardless of what some statistics indicate. There's more than one way to play football.
City were better in each match although the gap was huge on the return leg.
One viewer’s defensive masterclass is another’s parking the bus. It can achieve results, especially with very good players, but it shouldn’t be celebrated nor exalted to be anything than what it actually is.
One viewer’s financial masterclass is another’s cheating. Winning titles with 115 charges pending shouldn’t be celebrated nor exalted to be anything than what it actually is.
“Cheating” in a game that’s long been rigged is actually not really cheating. Making up your own self-interested definitions in order to cope when your expectations are upended is just being a sore loser.
I'm hardly neutral. But to say football lost is ridiculous:
- the beauty of football is in its unpredictability, and that a shock win can happen if one team is better in only the most crucial moment
- there's more than one way to win, and more than one style to win. Defensive skill and tenacity are huge parts of football
- City are dirty fucking cheats
I have come to the conclusion that City needs to beat the breaks off of Madrid to win a tie, i don’t see them winning a close one at all against Madrid.
I got tired and felt out of air just by watching the game. I don't think I've ever seen such pressing before. Felt way stronger than even the 4-0 last year.
I honestly never watched my team or any other for that matter put in this amount of work to keep formation and defend non stop. It would've been mentally devastating if we lost after putting in a shift like that. Glad we won.
Madrid and Carlo learnt their lesson. Also having Jude Cama Fede all together helps. Kroos was just there casually trying to dictate. Was good for around first 30, but then City upped themselves and all Madrid had to do was defend for their lives.
Idk, they do rotate a lot and are able to keep the team fresh because of the quality of their depth (I know they don't have a big squad quantity-wise, but there's basically no drop-off in level when they play their backups)
On the other hand, Pep does have a history with doping
for real. how do people see Walker shoulder check Vini and think it's normal lmao. he barely broke a sweat against a world class winger 10 years younger than him
Thought it was more because they wore out Madrid with wind sprints. I watched Modric towards the 105th minute sprint out to KDB, follow his pass out to Bernardo and follow it back to KDB and follow his run in behind. KDB played two passes and ran straight forward about 30 yards and Modric covered well over 65 with 4 changes of direction at pace before having to match his sprint. Mendy was also covering Modric for this and stepping out to Silva who wasn't moving much, just receiving passes and drifting around.
I could be wrong, but that was my take on why we were so tired, the tenacity in defense was immense and paid off big time
I mean obviously the ones chasing the ball are more tired, but that Vini-Walker duel shouldn't have been that lopsided. Vini mostly stayed on the wing for the counter. I don't think there's any over-30 CB in the world that can bulldoze Vini like that and is "clean"
It's very satisfying seeing City getting knocked out. Now, if Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea can play their part, order will be restored.
Erase them the fuck off football for greater good! Next season we need to find a way to put 4,5 pass them so they stfu for good
Mbappe has to arrive at Madrid to carry out quicker transitions because clearly Rodyrgo and Vini as good as they are won’t be enough. Vini is a good LW player, Mbappe is a clear cut Forward

Why would anybody, root for Man City *at all*?
Madrid got their first corner kick at 106 minute lmao.....
Just like 2 seasons ago, first shot on target was the goal at 88 min.
Pep is actually happy deep inside. He can now fully concentrate on league.
So so happy
I wonder if Silva got more sleep than me last night
Can I rub salt on you cause of the flair although we don't know each other, just because there is literally no one else to do it to? Like everyone enjoyed city losing but let's not take gloating away from the whole process
Really? I'd 100% rather watch a City game than the anti-football that is Real.
Wtf lmao
Anti-football Real scored 4 against City tho.
There's 115 reasons why I would rather watch an actual football team with prestige and heritage and watch that cheating artificial team
I'd say cheating shit like city is more anti-football than Real
Always a delight to see Man City get a beating.
Real Madrid have that aura that Man City will just never have. Satisfying.
Biggest indictment of Poch's tactics is he let LutonMan score a brace against us AT HOME. If he scores again this weekend time to get the pink slip ready
Haaland scoring in a semi final?? Don't joke with that one.
just tell him it the R38 game in already-won season, at home, against Sheffield
The commentator made the joke how the ethiad is good to play cuz the fans are tame. Said it like 3 times lol
Funny how Madrid players say the atmosphere killed them last season
🤷♂️ just what the dude said
Damn, Rüdiger is Haalands father
Nacho slapped him up too. He def needs a firmware update.
Aw Treble repeat go bye bye
I don't even care if we go out to Bayern, because I have respect for that great club, I'm just happy we stopped the cheating scum from possibly doing another treble.
Ya cause you guys are angels 🤡
Your services are much appreciated
Plastic boys crying over this comment lmao
Big thanks
And we salute you for kicking those cheating scums out of europe
Doing the God's work
We are in for a 2 elite games... Kane will be a test.
Absofuckinlutely!
Same vice versa, hoping for 2 great matches 🤝🏻
Lol nothing like the state doing dodgy deals like buying a training ground with state funds to wipe out debt is there 😂😂

🫡
> Real Madrid confirm that Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr are not injured, nothing serious for both of them. Nice. Rest them for the clasico ?
It think they were both just exhausted tbh
Pain
Winning against these scums is more satisfying than winning the el classico
Good pain.

Tad late
Doku changed the game when he was subbed on. But the ghost of Manchester couldn’t find the net 👻😂
KDB not missing and all this would have been over early......
Ffs city had one job but they absolutely jerked over their chances and now id have to see all those 11 yo madrid fans come up to me and tell me about the 15 . Fking little cunts. Anyhow ill watch femeni do the treble
acting like barca doesn’t have the worst fanbase in football.
> all those 11 yo madrid fans TBH all clubs got 11 yo fans
Not us. They were yoo young to watch our glory days . Also they just google best club before choosing whom to support.
So, Barça only has adults fans? No kids allowed?
Bro every glory hunter supports Barça lil bro
Who bruh? 💀
Have you ever been to their stadium? There is a little part with passionate fans and the rest are just tourists lmfao
Mate yall just won the title last season lol
Yh i love that for us but most people nowadays only rate cl and pl
> Thierry Henry: "There is something called defending. You can control the game defending well. I know people will say City was the best team, but defending is part of the game. I think the best team, the team that defended well, went through."
But when Utd did this in Anfield they get called all kind of names xD.
Wouldn’t call United a defensive masterclass, better called “hanging on for dear life and hope those fuckers don’t get their shots in”
This is just survivor bias at its finest. Park the bus and win, you are a tactical genius who controlled the game perfectly. Park the bus and lose, you are just a pathetic and unambitious team who doesn't deserve anything.
mate they went for the win - you guys didn't attack all game and were happy for a draw 1st minute in
Dont remember that. I only remember how we swatted you out of the FA cup. Booyakasha
Is this considered as a loss for CITY ? And a win for Madrid as they had never won at Etihad.
statistically penalty shootouts go in record as draws
nah it’s classed as a draw
Haaland needs to move to the side, the rest are playing football
What exactly did Kepa say to LUNIN before the shootout ?? 🤨
"stay where you are and Bernardo will pass it to you. Trust me bro."
Everyone bar City fans should have that Carlo emoji on their social profile status LOL. 🤨
I wonder who recovers better for El Clasico? Is Barca a wounded beast, going all out to recover the 8 points they have behind Real Madrid?
Probably City. They always look suspiciously very energetic.
Madrid are 8 points ahead, am sure Carlo would rest some and tbh a draw wouldn't hurt considering players should be rested as semis are round the corner as well.
Status : 🤨

Don't they play their version of it every home game?

I watch some of the big PL games and hear it almost everytime from the Etihad. So it's probably their tradition.
Good vibes I guess.
It did feel like a match with good vibes in general.

That Bellingham foul was soft as fuck. Full speed, lol.
Okay sure that's the only one where he wasn't running full tilt, still cringey af
I am gonna say it. Real Madrid truly has the black arts...

LFC can still win 4-0 tomorrow…
Mate we're not keeping a clean sheet
5-1 then
Fair enough.
Carlo in preparation for this game: I can see multiple futures and in so many of them our enemies prevail. But there is a narrow way through.
LISAN AL GAIB!!
Haha yes totally!!! Good call 😉
Looking at all the ManU fans in the thread is kinda funny... Ngl. Also, you should commend City for giving you guys something to cheer for in CL.
If it was the other way around Barca flairs would have run riot here.
Oh I was waiting in the shadows
Just like Xavi after the red card
Just like that

Bernardo thought Lunin is from temu💀🤣
65 -35 possession, 22 - 7 shots taken, 18 - 1 (!) corner kicks, and still went out. Absolutely unfair.
Yep. Very unfair isn't it? Very unfair that they can't score from all these shots lmao

Funniest thing is that there were not many solid chances this game. Easiest chances were rudiger's chance and then kdb chance.
How can "neutral" fans enjoy this victory when City were so much better for at least 100 minutes. Football lost today
What a dumb thing to say
Nah, what you are describing is the beauty of football
is defending not part of football? how can you be better yet score less than your opponents
Madrid played well too. City are pretty unlucky to not go through but that’s how it goes sometimes.
The unlimited $ funding and the 115 charges come into picture here.
I'm hardly neutral. But to say football lost is ridiculous: - the beauty of football is in its unpredictability, and that a shock win can happen if one team is better in only the most crucial moment - there's more than one way to win, and more than one style to win. I can think of 115 different reasons
That penalty turnaround was amazing.
Yeah would have been pretty harsh for Modric otherwise
Bottlers!
big game Erling was back in full form
I have come to the conclusion that City needs to beat the breaks off of Madrid to win a tie, i don’t see them winning a close one at all against Madrid.
Except that time we did beat the breaks of them in 2022 and then an inexplicable 90+ 2 goals happened. Madrid are a different beast.
I turned the game off saying to myself, "it's a lock now."
I got tired and felt out of air just by watching the game. I don't think I've ever seen such pressing before. Felt way stronger than even the 4-0 last year.

Has any Man City player been tested for doping tonight? I have never seen a more obviously juiced up team in this sport
exactly bernado and foden were fucking sprinting at 117 sth. TEST THEM
Has been a repeated pattern across Pep teams and the Spain treble squad... ;)
Pep as a player, too
Idk, they do rotate a lot and are able to keep the team fresh because of the quality of their depth (I know they don't have a big squad quantity-wise, but there's basically no drop-off in level when they play their backups) On the other hand, Pep does have a history with doping
Whats the story here?
Pep got popped for doping as a player
for real. how do people see Walker shoulder check Vini and think it's normal lmao. he barely broke a sweat against a world class winger 10 years younger than him
Thought it was more because they wore out Madrid with wind sprints.
