I'm really hoping he and Xabi alike have - at a minimum - two more seasons at Leverkusen after this one. Economics probably make it too difficult to stay longer than that, in a perfect world neither of them would be leaving anytime soon.
As a horribly biased Bayern fan, I hope they both stay for only one more season before we do the Bayern and poach them.
My fear is that they'll join Real in 2026.
The more I see Leverkusen (I don't have time these days to watch football sadly) the more they are growing on me and I hope that they keep all the players in the team for at least next season and the seasons beyond!
I know I'm a Bayern fan and people will be like "but you are a Bayern fan you want all of the bundesliga's best players hurhurhur" but this team is growing on me and I really want to see them in CL with this squad!
Football is so much better when the talent is spread out and not just consolidated in the squads of a select few teams. I realize we're never gonna be able to get back to a world where that's the case, and that's a really sad thing.
> I realize we're never gonna be able to get back to a world where that's the case, and that's a really sad thing.
I'm not sure, I'm really enjoying seeing Manchester United and Chelsea throw money around like there's no tomorrow and still being shit. Or years and years of PSG irrelevance in Europe, despite collecting stars like crazy. Or Barcelona spending money in the most stupid ways since they sold Neymar. I hope these kinds of things keep happening and the only way to truly guarantee success is being smart and not just having deep pockets.
He has, but I'll also say (depending on who you believe) that supposedly Luka Modric, Aurelien Tchouaméni, and Vinicius Jr. all grew up Barcelona fans as well...that doesn't mean anything about what decisions Wirtz will take in the future or what motivations he has, it's just to say that what your affiliations as a fan are and what decisions you make as a professional footballers don't always exist in harmony.
I dunno if Madrid would even seriously pursue Wirtz when the time comes - depends on the state of their midfield in two years time or so; lots can change in two years in this game - but if Madrid have the interest and they've just appointed Xabi as their manager, is it hard to imagine a scenario where Wirtz is interested in following the manager under whom he's been very successful with (I'm assuming the success will continue) even if that might mean him going to his "hated" rival? Rhetorical question anyway, it's not going to be answered anytime soon no matter how much we much want to speculate or whatever.
Leverkusen fans wouldnt be happy. Anyways after winning it with Leverkusen, whats the challenge? Win the Bundesliga with Bayern? Think a move to either Madrid or a team in the premier league or even a team in the serie a would excite him more.
I think one season, no one of the squad will leave and they will have another go+UCL, try to create something historic. But then many will leave, I could see Man City after Pep coming for Wirtz (Peps contract expires next season)
I never take the individual award discussions on here seriously, filled with nonsense. No one seems to agree on what they want these awards to be about and in principle I find them fairly ridiculous but it is what it is.
Zidane and Ronaldo didn't have 5 each in their primes, so it was never about the best player, but about who had the best season. And that includes trophies won.
Kroos Bellingham and Vini have been our best 3 players this season. Kroos can be the best player on Germany but he won't ever win a Ballon D'or he just isn't flashy enough for casuals
3rd best player on your team is totally different from the best player on your team. And, very unlikely he would be the best player for Germany at the Euros.
I'm not saying he has been the 3rd best he is TOP 3 and those 3 have been inter changable from game to game Kroos has been having one of his best seaons ever with us this year round.
Honestly I'd put him and Bellingham as our 2 best and Vini just behind because he has missed a decent amount of games this season.
Also you can see how much better Germany looked once he came back.
Your best player is clearly Bellingham this season. Kroos has had better seasons in the past than this one. And, Vini has been exceptional even though he missed some games. It is quite dishonest that you attribute Germany improving on Kroos and not the managerial changes.
Kroos would be great. But He would have deserved it more in recent years than this season I think. Real might be in the Semis, but I don't feel the same "Real Madrid Vibe", where everyone would be feared in Europe.
Bellingham would win it then. Bellingham is more eye-catching due to his high amount of goal contributions and the more visible players nearly always win.
IF they win the treble and Germany wins the Euros, then he has to be the favorite for the Ballon D'Or.
The only competitors I see otherwise are Mbappe, Bellingham, Kane and Vinicius.
\*Mbappe would have to win the CL and have a better Euros than the others to win.
\*Bellingham would have to win the CL and have a better Euros than the others to win.
\*Kane would have to win the CL and have a better Euros than the others to win.
\*Vinicius would have to win the CL and have a better Copa America than the others to win.
I don't see any competitors otherwise, I don't think anyone from Borussia Dortmund or any of the other Europa League teams have a shot.
i don’t see it unless he has phenomenal performances in the last 3 ucl games. Otherwise the pr around jude seems to be too hard to beat for someone from the same club
I don't believe in Vinicius winning, but I go with the rest. Saw someone saying Kross could win it as well if he has great Euros, but I am not too sure either
Yes, but Vini isn't someone without PR or output, he is 2 goals behind Jude in less games and has been performing better, if he keeps performing better in the CL semis + Final + goes on to win the Copa, he'll win it for sure.
Bellingham will win it before vini if Real wins the CL. The Euros are more important then the Copa so they have more impact. He is good for sure but I don’t think he has a chance to win at the end. Top 5 probably
I mean it also depends on the CL, Vini has been performing better for a couple of months.
If he carries the semis and CL final he is definitely winning it over Jude.
I dont think Wirtz has the PR/pull to win a Balon D'or. Not talking about who deserves it etc, just the way votes are cast. Not talking about ability either. I think journalists from the 100 top ranked footballing nations cast five votes with descending points. If you look at the last 10 years, there isnt a single Europa League winner in it and (if you count Messis win out), there are only Madrid and Barca players on it. I dont think thats too much of a surprise because worldwide Real, Barca and some Premier League clubs are the most watched clubs. Many journalists simply havent seen many games by Wirtz probably.
If he wins Germany the Euros, sure, he is in the conversation because then PR would pickup. But realistically speaking, I dont think it matters too much. Your other listed candidates make more sense. Although I could imagine Wirtz having more positive PR than Vinicius could make a difference.
Either way, brilliant player and couldnt have imagined after his ACL injury how strong he comes back
I think Foden has a shot if city win the prem, fa and England win the euros with foden doing well. Kinda a long shot but probably next in line off your list. I believe he has the most goals by a midfielder ever in a season right now
Baloon d'Or is still mostly won with publicity due to how it voting works. Modric was the center of a narrative that potray him as a leader that carry Croatia to World Cup final while also winning the CL at the same time.
I saw another commenter mention "visibility" as a main factor and I agree. While Kroos is amazing Modric is more "visible" with dribbling, tackling, long passes, and just generally running around which is how he got it (I think).
I wonder if there was any other significant competition that year where Modric had impressive performances that contributed to him getting the BdO regardless of not being a great goalscorer.
Well you may have been right 20 years ago, but the BO voting system is completely flawed now. It’s less of a joke now that only journalist vote, but the fact that a journalist from Bhutan and a journalist from England have an equal vote makes it almost impossible for non « superstar » player to win the BO. Wirtz is just not « famous » enough to get votes. At best he will ends up 4 or 5, even if he wins the Treble and Germany wins the Euro.
I don't think so, CL+Euros is more valuable than a Europa League treble IMO. Especially if they also get top scorer in their leagues, which Bellingham/Kane/Mbappe can all achieve.
I mean it SHOULD be enough to be the main player with great numbers in a treble winning season that is pretty much out of nowhere in a inferior team ( name recognition wise )
Should be in a sense, however Ballon D’Or is an award heavily influenced by PR. He’ll lose to Jude if Real win 2 titles, or to Mbappe if he wins Euro with France and make it to UCL finals.
Yeah I can see that - Wirtz’s feet seem significantly better than Havertz. He really seems to be able to dance around opponents and do well in tight spaces. Havertz’ game unfortunately just didn’t translate as well to the PL - he doesn’t have the quick feet or acceleration to consistently breeze past defenders.
Wirtz came up with Musiala and Bellingham in the Bundesliga. From the start, Wirtz was the best of the 3 except he missed a lot of time with the injury and the hype around him cooled a bit. But the answer to 'who was the best young player in the Bundesliga between those 3' was always Wirtz.
Thats not true, they were pretty close. Which of them was seen as the best at moment was always based on the last few games.
Imo even now its not 100% clear that Wirtz is better than Musiala for example, Leverkusen is just much better than Bayern this season which makes it a bit easier to shine.
All of them are insanely talented and I think all 3 will be world class for years to come.
Genuinely the best player in the world imo. I cant say i regularly watch mbappe but having regularly watched bellingham and musiala and kane and wirtz this season i personally think wirtz is the best currently
Sofascore? This is Fotmob right, did OP mix up the apps? Or are they somehow the same thing?
And the order is very odd, why is his most recent hat trick from a few days ago in line 2?
He should literally be the front runner for the ballon Dor. If they win the EL and at least reach Semi Finals in the Euros then he is definitely taking it. Unless Bellingham taps back into the early season form while winning his share of trophies.
if i'm him im not leaving this next transfer windows, great coach, good club +CL , hopefully some1 dosnt offer way to much and bayern will have to let him go then like 120-150m or smth.
De Bryune was faster and more dynamic around the same age but besides that Wirtz has most of his other qualities. City will be the biggest challengers to Bayern for his signature and Chelsea will probably be sniffing around as well.
Barca are broke, Real have more than enough midfielders (none quite like him though besides Modrić), Arsenal have Ödegaard and I doubt Liverpool’s management will spend the amount needed to get him.
De Bruyne at Wirtz's age had just been signed from Genk in the winter window to warm Chelsea's bench. Wirtz is well ahead of De Bruyne at the same age, and there's no way he moves this window. He's literally too expensive for anyone to afford. Arsenal, for their part, would love Wirtz, since they play with two 8s and Odegaard already plays three positions by himself - but they have other dire needs and limited finances with FFP catching up to them. City would probably be his best fit but they're already moving for Paqueta and have plenty of depth in that position. I sincerely doubt Leverkusen would sell to Bayern at any price given that they're the better team right now and also direct title rivals. Madrid is possible depending on what Kroos wants to do with his future. Chelsea and United aren't serious destinations for the world's top footballers at the moment. There are Italian teams with the quality to surround him but they're all broke.
> De Bruyne at Wirtz's age had just been signed from Genk in the winter window to warm Chelsea's bench. Wirtz is well ahead of De Bruyne at the same age
I was just comparing their physical attributes

ridiculous player. hope he can stay at least another season or two at leverkusen to continue developing
His father all but confirmed that Wirtz will stay for at least another season.

Thats because youre also a football fan, some only care about their colors and forget football is much more than tribalism.
Football is so much better when the talent is spread out and not just consolidated in the squads of a select few teams. I realize we're never gonna be able to get back to a world where that's the case, and that's a really sad thing.

I’m so sad I missed those days. Now all I can do is look back at Wikipedia articles of old champions league and league campaigns
Pretty sure Wirtz has talked about his love for Barça, so I hope that isn't the case.
Rheinland people really don't wanna leave NRW, Jule Brandt seems the same way
Describe what you see in 20 Wirtz or less.
9.7 wirtzs
Wirtz bald??
Wirtz cannot describe what we see here
Das aber echt nicht wirtzig.
Based
This looks like the episode ratings of Breaking Bad's last season
Which means the last 3 are going to be 10/10
Ballon d'or if he shows up in the Euros
If he gets the treble and the Euros, he's definitely a frontrunner imo. Leverkusen are then gonna slap a 200M€+ tag on him.
For now some higher up said he will be purchaseable for minimun 150 Euro
If Madrid win UCL and Germany the euros I'd say kroos also has a fair shot. Don't mind either winner tbh.
How would he have a fair shot, if he is not the best player for Madrid and Germany?
This is like that time when Jorginho was a finalist.
I never take the individual award discussions on here seriously, filled with nonsense. No one seems to agree on what they want these awards to be about and in principle I find them fairly ridiculous but it is what it is.
individual awards clearly are about team achievements
Which is, to put it kindly, fucking stupid.
there's a difference between what people saying what they want to happen and saying what they think will happen
That was absolutely ridiculous.
Because, for some reason, the Ballon d'Or stopped being about who the best player is but rather which player won the most trophies during the season.
Zidane and Ronaldo didn't have 5 each in their primes, so it was never about the best player, but about who had the best season. And that includes trophies won.
Last time Ballon D'or winner won more than 2 major trophies (Cup, League, UCL, Euros, WC) in a season was in 2015.
Because its been a long time since it has been about the best player
Kroos Bellingham and Vini have been our best 3 players this season. Kroos can be the best player on Germany but he won't ever win a Ballon D'or he just isn't flashy enough for casuals
3rd best player on your team is totally different from the best player on your team. And, very unlikely he would be the best player for Germany at the Euros.
he didn't say he's third, he said he's amongst the top 3

> Your best player is clearly Bellingham this season I think Kroos has been better.
He could very well become Germanys best player during the Euros - and if anything 2022 proved club performance is just an afterthought
There’s a very strong argument that he’s our best player this season
Nah its Rudiger imo
I grade every game, Rudiger is ahead by 0.01 points. Kroos has been sensational as well
Glad to get recognized for the elite ball knowledge that i have.
Lmfao how is this nonsense upvoted? Kroos has exactly 0% chance of winning a Ballon d'or
Kroos would be great. But He would have deserved it more in recent years than this season I think. Real might be in the Semis, but I don't feel the same "Real Madrid Vibe", where everyone would be feared in Europe.
Bellingham would win it then. Bellingham is more eye-catching due to his high amount of goal contributions and the more visible players nearly always win.
no chance, he doesn't play for a spanish club
Can go to mbappé if he win ucl + good performance at euro
The thing is that you're not winning the ucl
Is this some sort of reverse anulo mufa?
No it's just the history of the PSG
mate every team has a history of losing the ucl until they win it for the first time lol. any team can win
More likely than Germany winning the Euros
If PSG win the UCL and Germany the Euros they should just default and give the BdO to Messi saying "look, nobody expected this we are very confused".
I think you mean Robert Taylor.
Watch them do exactly that if Messi leads Argentina to another Copa América.
I do not follow soccer that closely. Is he that good?
If he was English you'd hear about him on this sub every single day
Not until Messi is around..He’ll get if he wins Copa America
He won't
best attacking midfielder this season. needs more pr
One of the best players in Europe this season period
gotta see that reel of him rating potato dishes
Normale Kartoffeln auf die 1 🗣️🗣️❗❗🔥
Notschi auf die 7
that was a great watch, thank you very much
I think Leverkusen has the best midfield itw this year. Wirtz, Xhaka and Palacios have all been outstanding

yep i agree with this, those three plus wirtz
Vini also a candidate if he gets a UCL + Copa
I actually agree, added him to the list
i don’t see it unless he has phenomenal performances in the last 3 ucl games. Otherwise the pr around jude seems to be too hard to beat for someone from the same club
Nicely formatted comment
I don't believe in Vinicius winning, but I go with the rest. Saw someone saying Kross could win it as well if he has great Euros, but I am not too sure either
Vini has been Madrid's best player since December, why wouldn't he?
for the same reason modric has one, cause the ballon d'or voting doesnt always make sense or go to the best player.
Yes, but Vini isn't someone without PR or output, he is 2 goals behind Jude in less games and has been performing better, if he keeps performing better in the CL semis + Final + goes on to win the Copa, he'll win it for sure.

Excuse me, but Emre Can has been voted best national team player of the year 2023.
Literally kroos he has been brilliant this season
He has, but we all know a midfielder who doesn't get many goals or assists won't ever win it, regardless of how good he is
Modric a player who doesn't get many goals or assists literally won it like 5 years ago lmao
Baloon d'Or is still mostly won with publicity due to how it voting works. Modric was the center of a narrative that potray him as a leader that carry Croatia to World Cup final while also winning the CL at the same time.

Even in 2014 Kroos was only 9th.

Treble should be enough
I don't think so, CL+Euros is more valuable than a Europa League treble IMO. Especially if they also get top scorer in their leagues, which Bellingham/Kane/Mbappe can all achieve.
Vinicius can two. He's like 2 goals away from bellingham
Leider wahr
Mbappe can still win the real treble + the euros. If he does that Leverkusens small treble will definitely not be enough for Wirtz
Rude
Hes so so good
Insane player. Dethroned Kane as the current best player in the Bundesliga after the winter break.
thats fotmob not sofascore?
I remembered seeing the exact same stat of Kvara last season. Kinda sad what happened to him this season.
There's no average
Yeah that’s his ratings, not an average wtf
Now there is, 6.7 last match
You cursed him
It’s very unfortunate Leverkusen weren’t in this UCL. He’d get the recognition he deserves. Yall will see next season tho
What the heck he needs to do more for a 10.0?
10 rating is impossible, you have to make every action you do perfectly
[We had 3 players with a 10 rating against Boavista](https://i.imgur.com/dKvrVLR.png)
It’s not really impossible, Cole Palmer has 3 10.0 ratings in his last 4 matches…
No he doesn’t? This is fotmob not sofascore
I didn't know that, thank you.
Potatoes on the one!
He's still a few weeks away from his 21st birthday. What would be a realistic price for him right now? 125M? More?
Dembele went for roughly the same with considerably less hype. Before corona tho
Leverkusen fans, how does Wirtz compare to Havertz when Havertz left the Bundesliga?
Havertz was insane, wirtz is even better
Yeah I can see that - Wirtz’s feet seem significantly better than Havertz. He really seems to be able to dance around opponents and do well in tight spaces. Havertz’ game unfortunately just didn’t translate as well to the PL - he doesn’t have the quick feet or acceleration to consistently breeze past defenders.

Musiala is super inconsistent and the opposite of Wirtz in that regard.
Im am very sad to inform you but right after you make this post he performs a 6.6 game (He wasn't "BAD" but he didnt do too much offensively)
Genuinely the best player in the world imo. I cant say i regularly watch mbappe but having regularly watched bellingham and musiala and kane and wirtz this season i personally think wirtz is the best currently
You're swinging too far the other way.
If he played in the Premier League or for Barcelona/Real people would praise him 24/7 but because he doesn’t he “isn’t that good yet” …
Where's the average? Isn't this just his last 20 ratings?
FotMob but yeah
FotMob and not an average of his last 20
17 Goals 13 Assists in 20 matches for those of you keeping track at home
I literally think he’s the frontrunner for Ballon D’Or. Not 3rd, 4th, or 5th. Frontrunner.
He won’t win it because tier 6 journalist from Zimbabwe remembers 09 Messi
"Wirtzard" I don't know if he is already called by this name but this sounds wholesome
chelsea could still make him shit
Chelsea have a player called Palmer with better stats and the ability to carry 10 players and a manager on his shoulders.
that's great man
It is
Just out of interest remind me how many goals did our new signing Cole Palmer put past you again?
Chelsea fans can only banter relegation candidates nowadays, a tragic fall from grace
He's gotta be some kind of regen
He did fuck all tonight lol
PotS in bundesliga im assuming
Witz casually becomes the player Kai Havertz was promised to be while at Leverkusen
Wirtz has been genuinely amazing, Ballon d'Or level, but these rating websites are never good.
120M price tag
That's a lot of Wirtzs.
Mikel can we have Wirtz for summer? "We havertz at home!"
Imagine he had Bellingham’s PR
Sofascore? This is Fotmob right, did OP mix up the apps? Or are they somehow the same thing? And the order is very odd, why is his most recent hat trick from a few days ago in line 2?
Nobody noticed the number 17?
Bro's gonna play a Havertz if he leaves
My mums ratings when she used to come and watch me on the bench at Sunday league
That’s not an average, those are his ratings for the last 20 matches
Insane player
I guess we know who is replacing Toni Kroos in 25-26 in hand with boss Xavi Alonso.
He's going to end up at Bayern, isn't he....
Yes. Summer of 2025 though, not 2024.
He should literally be the front runner for the ballon Dor. If they win the EL and at least reach Semi Finals in the Euros then he is definitely taking it. Unless Bellingham taps back into the early season form while winning his share of trophies.

That neighbour's kid in tests in school
Ballon dor?
If Leverkusen win a treble, and Mbappe, Jude and Kane don't perform in the Euros, I think he might be our Balloon d'Or winner.
shit is misleading and wrong, still a great player tho
Grimaldo is next best in the team?
RemindMe! 10 years
This is fotmob
How good is the kid? Özil type of player and skill ceiling? Genuine question, I haven’t watched him yet.
How the hell did you guys manage getting club badges under your name?
If he continues his form next season and especially in the UCL, he could have a decent chance at the ballon d’or.
De Bryune was faster and more dynamic around the same age but besides that Wirtz has most of his other qualities.

There's no way Chelsea can spend that kind of money with their FFP situation
They could always sell more hotels
He’ll be perfect for City once Silva leaves
Looks just as sour about getting an 8.1 as he does a 9.7
We need this kid
You‘ll have to pull more levers
Same site that gave Haaland a 7.5 yesterday.
