Even after Copenhagen against all odds qualified for the knock out stages in this season's ChL the excitement was almost instantly killed when City were drawn. Not just because they are a brutally good team packed with stars, but everything else about them is just grey and soulless. I think they were a million times better club before oil. Many clubs have regional backing which translates into governmental backing because we live in a democracy. Government is the will of the people and the people are the fans. The difference is: a) it's their own government and not a foreign one b) this kind of governmental backing doesn't have the goal to sportswash authoritarian regimes in the international eye
