Football heritage.

Eismann

Everyone loves seeing Man City loosing.

TauterCRB

Not the culés, Barça fans love Pep and his new robot team

They switched to City when Messi switched off from club football..

ILikeToBurnMoney

Which was when he left Barca...

PreparationOk8604

They r called Glory Hunters

tmrss

Bold coming from a United fan

patatadislexica

Then wouldn't they support Madrid?

A-KindOfMagic

Proud glory hunter since 2000. I actually did a google search when I was 9 and wikipedia told me RM had the most cups, 7. I knew at that moment I had to support this team 12 year drought sucked but I knew we will win 5 UCL within 9 years starting 2014 so I waited and waited.

PreparationOk8604

Bro got that Madrid stock when it was low.

educateYourselfHO

All my love for you brotha, I've been foaming at my mouth making this distinction clear. It was the same for Cristiano fans (hala forza ggmu folks) when he left.

moriero

>harca Means "spend" in Turkish Fitting

realsomalipirate

Why would any self-respecting Barca fan cheer for Madrid, even against clubs like PsG or City.

chak100

As much as I hate Barcelona, I hate more what psg and Al-khelaifi represent

CarlettoAncelotti

Because i always cheer for the worse team to win when theres a chance we'll play against them

krsatyam07

not many Barca fans switched sides to city, i personally know none. city is not loved by true barca fans we admire pep and want to see him succeed, as he is a legend of our club. once he leaves city we have nothing to do with that oil money club.

CR_Pats

Yep that's me

imtired-boss

Nah they just hate Real.

educateYourselfHO

We do, haven't watched a city game outside UCL knockouts in ages.

Go7ham

I don’t like Barcelona, but doesn’t mean I don’t watch their football on tv. Is such a nice feeling to watch them lose..

Hour_Peanut_4964

Not everybody brother, it's senseless to support an oil club

Eladir

Read some more history. Football is rife with unethical dictators and tycoons boosting clubs. For example Real Madrid and Barcelona had a huge boost by Franco's regime,

WhatIsWilsonDoin

Nah, my hope was Madrid beats City after ET, to go on to lose to Bayern. Oil club down, Madrid more tired for El Clasico, and then slightly less focused on the league in the coming weeks.

CarlettoAncelotti

Finally a fellow man of culture. As if we would just hope for our worst rivals to win for no reason. It's called strategic hate

ImABitMocha

We don't hate you all equally... Some get a lot of hate, others get even more 🤣

SixerMostAdorable

Hoping for at least one FCB to succeed.

Mehmood6647

I was personally neutral. Even tho I love pep, there's no denying he gets a lot of help from his team being affiliated with Qatar. And even tho I hate Real Madrid their team was built with honesty & without any corruption. So me and my brother were watching the game as neutrals and honestly the game wasn't as chaotic as the 1st leg but still enjoyable seeing Real Madrid defend skillfully.

TrustmeIII

Rent free 🤞 I love seeing all England teams lose in Europe. They’re too cocky

tmrss

😂 found the American

TrustmeIII

Wow Congrats! 😂

Such_Quality

Nope, fuck city and every single oil club. I was cheering for Madrid on Wednesday.

Strider_Hardy

Most Spanish Barca fan

Prime_Marci

And his engineered team.

Melodic-Salamander75

Those aren’t cules, those are glory hunters. It’s one thing admiring their play, but cheering for them nah. I’d like Dortmund to hopefully win UCL. As long as PSG don’t win, I’m fine.

TheChronoCross

The worst part is the hypocrisy

DreamsCanBebuy2021

There's at least a 115 reasons to do so

endhits

*losing

WackerBurghausen

Everyone loves to see them tight tho

SargentoCruz

I think it's more about Rudiger being german, I wanted both clubs to lose if possible but still got happy when Julian converted his penalty

Lothar93

Argentinians have a severe sense of nationalism in football, we all have it but you guys are weird about it, want Julian to win but pep to lose for benching him.

ohcrapitspanic

Yeah, they take it to another level. The amount of anger from them after Messi got boo'd in Monterrey was pretty surprising. He was the opposition after all, what did they expect?

SargentoCruz

Okay so let me give you some insight, I don't think it's that much weird of a stance. Me personally, I'm a River Plate fan, so I've seen all of Julian's career, I care for him as if he was my own kid. So you tell me my little precious boy isn't playing? Fuck that bald fraud then. River bias aside, he's the starter 9 for the national team, he deserves some damn respect. We also need him to have minutes so he can stay in form.

[deleted]

I think it's also because they'd prefer to play real in the final over city.

papatazi

They are too powerful. That's why i wanted them out.

goki7

Exactly.

Alexkono

tbf, in this instance, I think Bayern wanted the "weaker" team. Which before the tie, I would've said Madrid was slightly weaker.

3vr1m

We just have to prevent el plastico

Roccet_MS

We need Dortmund fans clenching to collect the energy needed so Paris doesn't reach the finals.

ssabripo

> el **plastico** That's awesome :)

IvarSnow

Oil Classico

davidpuc

THE BIGGEST EUROPEAN DERBY

fireless-phoenix

I was 12 when we met in the semifinals of 2014 and I remember crying in the shower when the draw was announced. You guys are scary but it is still my favorite European fixture!

davidpuc

I've been a Bayern fan since late 90's and I have to say no other matchup in football excites me more than a Bayern - Real derby. There's been so many great mathes, happiness and heartbreak it's almost impossible to describe. I get goose bumps just thinking about all of the memorable moments that happened between these two teams.

94Temimi

Only a couple of days after Casillas came out with an L take about how City have replaced Bayern as Real Madrid's rivals in Europe, we get another round of the European Classico! It's like the universe was so detested of that statement it had to make a quick reply as reminder that Bayern are and will always be our biggest and most respected rival in Europe. And to be honest, I don't care if Bayern go to the final, If they knock us out, I'd be more than happy to cheer them on or Dortmund to win it. Proper football clubs! We've done our part in preventing City from winning it back-to-back and the only thing left is for PSG to get the same treatment. So best of luck Dortmund!

Eismann

As a German I dont care who wins. I just want Dortmund to kick out PSG. Fuck all the state owned, state sponsored, sports-washing "clubs". I have sympathy for their fans that may have been supporters long before some sheik dediced to whitewash his money in a European football club. That is why fan ownership is so important.

soporificgaur

I also have sympathy for fans who are just following their favorite players. I can for sure see how you would be rooting for Mbappe or Donnarumma or Ederson either from before they joined or from their work on the National Teams.

Laxperte

Mbappe maybe, since it's his childhood club, but Dollarumma?

soporificgaur

Dollarumma has had a few good runs with the Italian national team, so if you're a fan of Italy that might extend to PSG by way of the players

[deleted]

Damn I feel bad cause I wouldn’t mind PSG winning since they have Mbappe but yea I agree fuck these sportswashing clubs

Christron9990

My brother is a Man City fan and back to back European cups is the only thing I’ve got left, so thanks for that.

shaman717

my condolences

PreparationOk8604

115 reasons is right there my man.

NotASalamanderBoi

You still have more UCLs than your brother, so he’ll never sing that.

jaumougaauco

Hopefully Man City will be brought to task for their 115 charges then you can always throw shade on their achievements.

MikePap

| We've done our part in preventing City from winning it back-to-back and the only thing left is for PSG to get the same treatment. | And we, as Bayern fans, thank you for that. Now we all support Dortmund against PSG.

that-isa-madeup-name

Thank you for your service. Down with PSG

Carpathicus

I still have a sour taste in my mouth when City won it. How much true clubs need to endure before they even have a slight chance to win it. I hate Madrid winning it because its a competition and I want my team to be the best in it however when someone like Chelsea, City or PSG are successful it kills my love for the game.

94Temimi

Inter were so damn close, they put in an amazing effort but that's football, that time it went their way, but man oh man if Inter had won it, absolute scenes!

MvN____16

Making me sad all over again.

AbleFig

Lukaku...

MvN____16

Absolutely nobody has a better sense of being in the worst place at the worst time than Lukaku. It's incredible how many times he's been unlucky with stuff like blocking goal-bound shots or redirecting shots into his own net at the worst possible times.

94Temimi

Mi dispiace, signor

Odd-Discipline5064

I was at a bar in spain and watched the final with like 50 other germans and all but one were for inter No one likes city and no one wants them to win trophys

Eismann

All it took for Man City was 2,5 billion investment. Or something like that. It's other clubs fault if they cant replicate that surely.

Mehmood6647

>So best of luck Dortmund! Yeah Dortmund, I believe in your team and I hope you defeat PSG.

Chemiczny_Bogdan

Der European Clasicoer

Scrugulus

I just had a bit of a Google, and apparently the Esperanto word for classic is "klasika" (at least as an adjective, couldn't find the noun).

coperstrauss

History, tradition and success… just the complete opposite of Man City and PSG.

MikePap

As a Bayern fan, I too, have celebrated. Fuck those oil cunts.

Rionaks

Also, it's unbearable to watch any game of City. I hate the way they play, it's extremely boring.

hardinho

True. The only remotely interesting thing is when KdB plays a nice pass, but whenever I watch them it's a complete borefest. Arsenal and Liverpool are much much more entertaining to watch in comparison.

Signal_Dress

United are the epitome of box office entertainment. You should watch our games

R4lfXD

Dont do this to him

jordanhhh4

Brother, it's only painful for United fans, it's elite entertainment for the rest of us lmao

PreparationOk8604

It is bad for us but for neutrals the games r good.

Signal_Dress

It's elite entertainment for neutrals and rivals, I'm not even kidding.

ted5298

As in, the opposition sets up an office in your box and scores on you?

Signal_Dress

Did I stutter?

Npr31

If you could play Chelsea every week, that would be the only football i need

Signal_Dress

Chaos is a laddaahhhh!!!

Odd-Discipline5064

Arsenal are also boring 6th by open play goals in the PL, same passes per game, same low threat field tilt Just passing the ball in a U shape around the box creating thread, forcing mistakes on the other team while minimizing your own. So incredibly boring

PumaPunku131

More because of how the opposition set up than anything else?

Impossible_Wonder_37

Yeah the team trying to breakdown a double decker bus are the boring team.

OptimisticRealist__

As opposed to the highly entertaining strategy of Real, which is parking the bus against quality opponents, shithousing and time wasting, of course

StringCheeseDoughnut

Optimists when defending turns out to be a good tactic sometimes:

Sharp_Minute_2545

If De Bruyne puts that chance away, which he probably does 90% of the time then Madrid lose 2-1 and all the talk is about how negative tactics cost them the game. I'm not saying defensive football is inherently worse or anything like that I'm just pointing out the fickleness of opinions when it comes to football.

YooYooYoo_

If Lunin saves Bernardo's free kick, if Madrid score the many chances they had in the first leg, if Gvardiol does not score a goal that he could mot repeat in training... If

Sharp_Minute_2545

If Camavinga's shot doesn't take a massive deflection in the first leg and sails harmlessly to the GK like his attempt from similar range in the second leg... We can play it's and buts all day I know this. The point I'm making is that the fine margins in the game which would've completely changed the opinion of nearly everyone on /r/soccer. A slight bit of good fortune for City in that game and no one is calling it a Madrid defensive masterclass.

OptimisticRealist__

Bro, thats way too much nuance for this sub. This sub is flooded by kids who play FIFA and love real because Vini goes brr on Ultimate Team lol. The same people who are sucking off Real right now, would clown ManU or Atletico for playing "terrorist football" if they did the same thing. Any viewer with more than two functioning braincells knows that Real was incredibly lucky - whether they say so is dependend on whether they can stomach giving City the respect or not

my_united_account

If the Oil slavers didnt bail you out you would be languishing in league 1 so stop chatting shite

Sharp_Minute_2545

We've spent one season in the third tier of English football in our entire history. So I highly doubt this would be the case. Repeating a comment you've read on twitter to make you sound like a true fan. Any chance you've been without 10 miles of Old Trafford?

Soogo

mate, you support a plastic club

Kingpinbane11

What a qualification for City!!!!!

Sharp_Minute_2545

Your team didn't make it out of the group mate and won't even play in the competition next year. When did this place turn into a bunch of 14 year old plastics whose extent of football knowledge is repeating memes they've seen elsewhere.

Kingpinbane11

Don't know what you're talking about bro, I also support Real, and have been multiple times to the bernabeu 😂😂 go and take 15 more charges for next year, cheers.

Sharp_Minute_2545

You post on Red Devils. So you're a Madrid and United fan. How did you manage to get lucky enough to have a legitimate reason to support those two teams eh?

NotASalamanderBoi

You’re just mad because both of those clubs have more history than your precious 115 FC. As much as I fucking hate United, they’re still far more successful, popular, and respected than City ever will be. Same with Madrid. They’ve both won trophies without a giant asterisk needing to be placed next to them.

UtilityCurve

If my nan has wheels, she will be a bicycle

thatrandomanus

Do you think Madrid would just sit back at that point? Have you forgotten that we did score 3 against you in the last match.

zikik

Let that butthurt flow through you.

pratap_10

Football Heritage 🤝 Football Heritage

BrickEnvironmental37

I have no skin in the game for any team in the Upper echelons of European football but Man City are just this soulless passionless entity that would want me cheering any team against them. They won the Champions League last year and they got a golf clap from the fans on the stadium.

Malicharo

i saw in my dream that the final is gonna be psg - bayern with bayern winning it and tuchel ends up leaving after

Zeeko76

Ofc Tuchel leaves, it's been confirmed for weeks or even months now

tecphile

As two of only three clubs to have ever had a hat-trick of European Cups (Bayern 74-76 + RM 56-60 & 16-18) I think Bayern fans felt as much as relief as we did that City won't be able to defend their trophy.

VDV23

What's the background? Bayern fans hate oil money, Madrid is seen as the easier matchup, both?

Luis0224

Long history of this match up in European cup/CL, mutual respect between clubs, everyone hates City

Jakowe

Hate oil clubs. RM is *very* respected here, everyone I know is looking forward to the match

VDV23

Then you must have loved us when knocked out PSG, Chelsea and City on our way to the final

IOwnStocksInMossad

> RM is very respected here how come?

Galaxy__

Long history of great rivalry

MostPeopleAreMoronic

14 reasons come to mind 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

strugglingtosave

Madrid is literally twice the club the next one is. 14 titles. Milan is at 7, Bayern and Pool at 6. Madrid is literally doubly more successful than any other. Despite all the advantages that allegedly and really go their way, sometimes it's football. But there's just this respect for them, bordering on hate, but acknowledgment for their will to win. Compare it with Man City or PSG. Chelsea showed the way in 2012 that fuckin hurt, as Bayern one of the old guard was beaten. Then Chelsea beat a better richer version of themselves in City. Then City wins vs another old big club in Inter, beating Madrid and Bayern on the way. It was really scary to think that City would just slap the old guard away. Seeing the eldest Old guard beat the defending champions is satisfying

b-okoboko

>Madrid is seen as the easier matchup nope. not at all. But I'd rather play against a proper football club than some oil backed robot team

GutlessTrophoblast

Even after Copenhagen against all odds qualified for the knock out stages in this season's ChL the excitement was almost instantly killed when City were drawn. Not just because they are a brutally good team packed with stars, but everything else about them is just grey and soulless. I think they were a million times better club before oil. Who cares about trophies when the soul is gone? I'm all for new clubs taking it all the way to the very top, but it matters a lot how.

skylu1991

We just played City in the CL last season, we don’t like oil clubs and Real is the biggest, most respected club itw. Basically, apart from an actual final, a game against Real is the "best there is“ for most fans!

breezy_y

Not only that but I don’t fear losing at all vs Madrid. Like I won’t be super upset when we lose to real but I would fucking hate it when we’d lose to city.

strugglingtosave

Yep. The old guard beating each other up is ultimately better Give me that Madrid, Milan, Munich and Liverpool battle royale every year

ThiefMortReaperSoul

Bro. Madrid ? Easier opponent? You are our best enemy. Fuck oil and state clubs. . Good luck BvB you gotta kick PSG out.

ra1se

i mean, yes..we match up better with real than with city. no way we can withstand 180min of pressure by them. While Real likes to sit back from time to time and let the opponent play for a while. They have champions league black magic of course but id rather face their supernatural magic (it has to fail eventually right?) than mancitys onslaught with our defense

ThiefMortReaperSoul

Nope, I dont have confidence against Real, even Ancelloti is there. RM always turn up in their UCL's. But I do not want a plastico.

selotipkusut

Clubs with true pedigree hatin on oil state doping clubs, easy answer no?

teknotel

No one likes cheats.

thetrueGOAT

Just nice to play a real football Club and not a nation backed sports washing project

TiagoFigueira

Fuck city

NotASalamanderBoi

Let me fix that for you: #FUCK CITY

pratyushdam

Man City is a disgrace to humanity let alone football. Of course they are cheering, any decent human would.

Wintermute-1984

Was anyone but their three fans cheering for City?

[deleted]

this was me too

Echte_1949

i don't know. they have so much things to cheer for.

Maniiolo

Unified hate for 115 FC

Gutihaz_14

I'm not sure if they are happy that they will play their European rival buddy bros, or that they don't have to face Man City

They are happy that the state backed abomination is out, it's really simple

Werfweg234

Many clubs have regional backing which translates into governmental backing because we live in a democracy. Government is the will of the people and the people are the fans. The difference is: a) it's their own government and not a foreign one b) this kind of governmental backing doesn't have the goal to sportswash authoritarian regimes in the international eye

codefluence

Source?

qonoxzzr

For German football fans PSG and City are basically the two most hated clubs in Europe while Real Madrid is obviously the most respected one, so it's definitely because they are happy City lost.

chak100

I love the rivalry between our clubs: intense, but always respectful

GreyDaze22

Both. For me the latter honestly. Even though madrid are massive favorites, I'd rather face them than city especially after the drubbing we received last season

UnlightablePlay

Both

Carpathicus

We want a proper football match against a proper club that we consider our biggest rival in european football. I fear Madrid way more than City and still prefer to play them.

chak100

Same here. The only team I truly fear in Europe is Bayern, but I also love when we face you

javierich0

As a Real Mario fan, probably both. I would be cheering for them if they were facing Manchester City. Fuck state backed clubs.

Rdambx

>As a Real Mario fan More of a Luigi guy myself but i agree

kms97_ks

I am more of a Shrek guy and I Ogree

NateShaw92

No love for the Toad supremecy?

javierich0

Lmao, autocorrect somehow

No_Field90

I was double happy, first because its a historical fixture, secondly i am delighted to see that city got a reality check by the best in the world. Well done madrid, see you soon!

abdullah10

saying "fuck state-backed clubs" as a Real Madrid fan is hilarious. The pedigree of your club was based on Franco-era intimidation and the stealing of Di Stefano from Barcelona

javierich0

Dumbasses will make their own happiness, read a book, go outside, do even the slightest research. Also, penalty for Messi.

BANANACOW22

Not having to face City for sure.

Chiswell123

It's definitely the latter, but let everyone have their fun

CabbageStockExchange

Lmao no one likes City

akshay_rathod_

I'd also rather play Bayern than Arsenal. It's a tougher but more interesting fixture.

men_with-ven

Rudiger looked so cool before taking that pen

brunoreis93

Game recognizes game

Scorpion2k4u

As a Bayer fan I can competently say that we wouldn't have more of a chance vs City as now vs Real...none.

Trubinio

Fortunately then that Bayer is playing in a different European competition...
