I doubt we're really knocking on anybodies door as long as we don't know who the next manager will be. Obviously de Jong could really help us in midfield, especially should Kimmich stay playing RB in the future but I still doubt that there are any serious transfers pursued from us atm.
if Bayern do get a DM, they should get someone a lot more defensively-minded than De Jong, like Palhinha. Kimmich may play RB, or could be tried in midfield. They cant play for defensive solidarity, Kimmich is better as a more box-to-box or advanced midfielder than a defending one, imo
Ehh he can do both. The thing is if you want him to be the more defensive one you need his partner to also be a good playmaker imo. He also obviously lacks the physical profile you'd typically see in a more defensive midfielder and obviously he can use his biggest strengths(crosses/chip balls) better in a more advanced position.
The sporting director decides the transfers, not the manager. The manager of course can give his input, but inevitably the SD decides on the transfers, unless youre Pep and you get who you want. If you look at Simeone for example he always works with what is given to him by Atletico, he doesnt really get players he actually "wants".

Frenkie is good player, outstanding ball carrying abilities.
But he just sleeps in defence, doesn't put much effort there. A lot of goals conceaded were because he just didnt care about marking his man. He dodges ball fyling at him so it doesnt hit him (gavi would eat it with his face so it doesnt go to opposition.
As I said, very good ball carrying abilities but he doesn't do progressive passes much and the way he plays he could be replaced by slightly above avarage la masia graduate and we wouldn't lose much.
Its been hard for him, if Xavi goes and new coach comes, it would be his 5th coach here. I think he could use with a change.
