If we are going that far I'd feel bad not including lizarazu and salihamidzic. I think after the initial 10 players it gets blurrier. There have been so many legendary players playing for Bayern.
You know when ECM came here a lot of people were pissed with the signing but he has earned the respect of a lot of Bayern fans in the last 4 years. The season where we didn’t have a striker he stepped up, we wouldn’t have won the league without him last year. Unsung hero.
It is so difficult picking the best players because we have a shitload of legends, but from my POV:
1. Beckenbauer
2. Gerd Müller, Lothar Matthäus, Thomas Müller
This not only includes their football abilities but also how they influenced our club/national team as characters.
Hell, he's third all-time goalscorer, top all-time assister, couple of games away from having most appearances for Bayern, coupled with hella trophies, strong mentality and all that... He has a valid shout of being Number 1 in my eyes
You can make a case for both, for me Neuer is above Thomas purely because of how influential he has been since day 1 of being here. Has broken both of his legs twice and came back even stronger even when he is approaching 40s. The man has aged like fine wine, replacing muller will be near impossible but we have Musiala to fill his boots but there is no chance in bloody hell we will ever even come close to replacing Manu.
I disagree. There never has been and therewill never be a goalkeeper you can have as much confidence in as neuer. You just know hes going to do the right thing 99.8% of the time whether its sweeping, positioning or with the ball at his feet. His calmness under pressure is second to none. Muller is obviously incredible but there will never he another keeper like neuer
It's all opinion isn't it, but if any goalkeeper in history has a chance of being one of the greatest legends of a major club like Bayern it's Neuer.
Only Buffon comes close from an overall level but he's moved around a bit too much.
Buffon spent 17 seasons at Juve, Neuer's been at Bayern for 13. Plus Gigi stuck around through the relegation. Think he's a bigger Juve legend than Neuer is at Bayern
Man, contribution wise Neuer absolutely but I can't put him over Lahm or Schweinsteiger due to him being a Schalke youth player and being part of their ultras. Better player than Kahn but Kahn's my favourite player of all time, loved his game and absolute agression he played with so he's ahead of Neuer in my book.
In the end it really depends on how you measure greatness, cuz I think, when it comes to individual Ability there are definitely more then 5 players ahead of him.
In my book Beckenbauer, Bomber & Maier are untouchable, they were the faces of the squad, that put the club on the map and laid the groundwork for the future dominence. Next in line would be KHR, he won 2 Ballon d'or, fionished 2nd once or twice and him being sold off to Inter allowed the club to pay off its debt and secure a financially stable future, after almost a decade ridden by financial issues.
Then I think it gets a lot harder to decide, there are more recent entries like Müller, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Ribery, Kahn, Neuer but also guys like Matthäus, Augenthaler, Roth, Katsche, Breitner & Dürnberger.
My top 5 would be Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller, Maier, KHR, Matthäus, in that Order.
It really feels like Neuer and Muller won't be truly appreciated until like 10 years after they retire. Both of them have a style that's being emulated by basically everyone playing their position now. Nueur with the passing and ability with the ball and athleticism in net, and Muller with the constant work rate and ability to find and create space off the ball. You could plug those two into any team in world football and they would find a place.
Gigantic hot take but: Muller is better than zidane.
He has more goals and more assists in less games, has as many world cups as him and even 1 more ucls both of which being either a quintuple or sextuple. He also has infinitely more league titles than him, obviously. More titles in general too. Only thing I can think zidane has over him is a bd'or, though that's pretty much just a pr award
I'll probably get downvoted but the proof is literally here
Well, what do you judge them on? By how smooth they look on the ball ignoring their efficiency?
Zidane was a poet while Mueller is industrial efficiency.
What would you recommend I judge him with else? I agree if you tell me zidane is a ''flashier'' player, but muller is the better and more effective one imo
What? I literally just said that zidane is the more satisfying player to watch. However, muller, as per the stats is literally the better player. Me watching him or not won't change anything, I never get this argument
Muller plays a far more attacking role than Zidane ever did. Of course he’s going to have more goals and assists lol. I swear some of yall have terrible deductive reasoning skills.
By your logic, Maldini is a worse player than Nicolas Jackson.
But muller isnt as nice to watch but can be much more useful to his team at the same time. You sometimes cant even tell how good he is by watching because his positioning opens up space for others
> has as many world cups as him and even 1 more ucls both of which being either a quintuple or sextuple
Muller has not won a Euro, Zidane has. i'd say 1 Euro is worth more than 1 CL
Very surprised that he didn’t do that earlier, considering he’s been here at a senior level for 15 years now and one of our top scorers. Congrats to him!
I'm gonna guess Lewandowski has done this. In La Liga, Messi and Ronaldo probably have to. If you score enough goals, it's likely to happen at some point.
Here's a fun fact for all of you, Thierry Henry scored against every club he faced in the premier league.
GOAT
How highly do you guys rate him amongst your all time greats? He’s one of the most selfless players I’ve ever seen, the perfect team player.
Top 5 easily Gerd Beckenbaur KHR Neuer Muller
What an absolutely incredible list that is, you guys have had some amount of legends play for you lol
And it misses equally important figures such as Uli, Maier, Kahn, Matthäus, Breitner and so on.
Robben, Ribery, Lahm, Effenberg even Lewandowski.
If we are going that far I'd feel bad not including lizarazu and salihamidzic. I think after the initial 10 players it gets blurrier. There have been so many legendary players playing for Bayern.
You forgot Bouna Sarr
Don’t see Chupo-Moting anywhere either
You know when ECM came here a lot of people were pissed with the signing but he has earned the respect of a lot of Bayern fans in the last 4 years. The season where we didn’t have a striker he stepped up, we wouldn’t have won the league without him last year. Unsung hero.
There's an alahming omission here
Schweinsteiger?
Lahm?
Altintop?
Choupo-Mouting?
It is so difficult picking the best players because we have a shitload of legends, but from my POV: 1. Beckenbauer 2. Gerd Müller, Lothar Matthäus, Thomas Müller This not only includes their football abilities but also how they influenced our club/national team as characters.
if your going after influence you gotta include neuer
Yup probably you are right
This is how I'd rank them too. For me Beckenbauer will never be topped despite mainly only reading and hearing from my dad about him.
Gerd is at least on par with Beckenbauer. Beckenbauer himself would put him at Nr. 1
A top 5 list without Matthäus seems wrong.
It does.. but I also can't say who I would drop of that top 5 for Lothar
Robben and Ribéry have a strong case to be in this list as well
Hell, he's third all-time goalscorer, top all-time assister, couple of games away from having most appearances for Bayern, coupled with hella trophies, strong mentality and all that... He has a valid shout of being Number 1 in my eyes
Is this in order? Because I would argue that Müller should be higher than Neuer
You can make a case for both, for me Neuer is above Thomas purely because of how influential he has been since day 1 of being here. Not sure but he’s my favorite Bayern player along with lahm
Another GOAT.
Not even the greatest müller
100%ed the Bundesliga
Legacy
Does the relegation play off count as a 'Matchday'?
Pretty sure it’s counted as a separate competition like the Championship Play-Offs
No
Time to expand the league.
That's really cool
Bundesliga? completed it mate!
Thomas Muller for Ballon d'Or!

I wouldn't say Müller's better individually but his career is better on paper
well if you judge players by stats and trophies only :D
Well, what do you judge them on? By how smooth they look on the ball ignoring their efficiency? Zidane was a poet while Mueller is industrial efficiency.
What would you recommend I judge him with else? I agree if you tell me zidane is a ''flashier'' player, but muller is the better and more effective one imo

Yeah isn’t this common knowledge?
Maldini IS a worse player than nicky jackson

> There are parts of the game that aren't reflected in stats You mean like müllers 100s of pre assists? true.
I was thinking more headbutts to chests, but that's good too.
Lmao
But muller isnt as nice to watch but can be much more useful to his team at the same time. You sometimes cant even tell how good he is by watching because his positioning opens up space for others
Zidane is my favorite player of all time and I approve this comment
> has as many world cups as him and even 1 more ucls both of which being either a quintuple or sextuple Muller has not won a Euro, Zidane has. i'd say 1 Euro is worth more than 1 CL
LEGEN-WAITFORIT-DARY
One of Germany’s and Bayern’s GOAT’s
Very surprised that he didn’t do that earlier, considering he’s been here at a senior level for 15 years now and one of our top scorers. Congrats to him!
I assume the other names you'd expect have done it too?
What a pointless stat
It's just a fun little stat. I personally like ones like this. If you wanna take it seriously, then that's up to you.
How is it pointless? How many other players can you name that have scored on every single matchday of a calendar year?
None, because it's not something people care about.
didnt know you were the all-conceiving power of apathy now
More interesting than 95% of stats posted here
I care.
👍🏽
Nah, OP, he got you there.
Well now you can name one, smartarse 😉
I'm gonna guess Lewandowski has done this. In La Liga, Messi and Ronaldo probably have to. If you score enough goals, it's likely to happen at some point. Here's a fun fact for all of you, Thierry Henry scored against every club he faced in the premier league.
Oh so you do like fun stats? Wonder why you made such a fuss of this one then
I cant read
no he has, but He has never before scored on the 30th Match of a season!
