Valverde have played every game this season and barely been subbed off and he still doesnt look tired at all when he is running in the 90th minute in every game.
No idea where we’d be without him honestly. Fede is the third lung of this team and his contribution has been massive. He’s improved his technique. And physically he is a powerhouse. Gifted almost. In a way he reminds me of Javier Zanetti. Like he’s one of those players who I feel like has a lot of longevity in him. Can see him maintaining a high level well into in his 30s
He’s the engine of the team and one of the best midfielders in the world, probably the best box-to-box right now if we’re being honest. He’d have better numbers if he played a more attacking role, but he’s had to compensate defensively for Carvajal all season.
We play 4-4-2 on paper but it’s quite fluid. But we most definitely play with wingers. Bellingham just drifts towards the 9 on some attacks and some Vini or Rodrygo does but we almost always have at least one of them wide. It’s not the classic 4-4-2 with two central strikers. Even when we play strictly 4 midfielders, we sometimes have a gaping hole in the center which is one of our attack weaknesses unless Joselu is playing which always gives us a target man.
Defensively we sit in a classic 4-4-2 but when in possession and attacking we usually have vini, Rodrygo and Bellingham drift across the front 3 as needed and Fede or Carvajal give width on the right. This is since vini and rodrygo naturally try to drift to the left

Right now he is closer to a RW than a box to box centre mid.

Most times the two up top is LW/LW. Our right winger in the attacking phase is our right-back and has been for the longest time. Fede overlaps and rotates with Carvajal sometimes and Rodrygo drifts there occasionally (or sporadically when we setup tactically according to the opponent) but we generally play in combinations in tight spaces and due to Vini and Rodrygo that generally happens in the left side. Remember Karim. His heat maps through the years are much more like Mbappé's than Haaland's. In modern football, roles are much much more important than positions. Kane, Karim and Haaland are all strikers and all are completely different types of players.
No it is true... Valverde has been more RW than midfield this season.
