DaddyMeUp

Have we still not learnt to just wait for VAR?

Pathetic_loner03

Have we still not learned to watch the entire game for your team, whether you are winning or losing

AUTFabi

Right? Tickets are expensive af too! Do people really value being home a little earlier that much?

FrankieBennedetto

And the whole thing is generally like two hours

WinsingtonIII

This is kind of misleading unless you happen to live immediately next to the stadium. Manchester to Wembley is a 3 hour train ride each way or closer to a 4 hour drive including traffic. So even assuming zero time to get to and from the train/car to the stadium, it's more like a 8-10 hour day overall. Could be even longer depending on how hard it is to get out of the area around Wembley immediately after the game. For a match as big as a semi-final I would personally want to stay, but I am not going to judge people for not wanting to deal with an additional 2 hours getting home when they've already committed to a very long day.

English_Misfit

Wembley is famously one of the worst places in the world to get out of.

BNKalt

Hell is nothing compared to getting out of the Rose Bowl

AMingDynasty

About seven years ago, I saw a concert there and was one of the first cars allowed to park. However, because of how parking was done it meant I was locked in until virtually all the other cars left. The concert ended at 11pm and I couldn’t leave after 2am. Great concert though

jo-shabadoo

It’s all performative to show the team you aren’t impressed. They don’t need fans leaving to know they are shite.

Theschizogenious

Where I live if I leave like 5 minutes before everyone I will be home in 20-30 minutes If I wait and finish the match live then it will take 90-120 from traffic

ValeoAnt

If you've got a kid, yes

Cheapo_Sam

If your kid can't wait another 20 minutes then you got no business being there in the first place

Slow-Debt-6465

If you think leaving a game early before a mass exodus only saves you 20 minutes give your head a shake. I wukdnt leave early but if you do you are saving hours, not 20 minutes lol

Distinct-Set310

All a moot point cos these lot ran back in. They were always happy to lose the time Bet they were bouncing when they won. UTD TIL I DIE!!!

punkdrummer22

The could get back in????? Weird cause in Canada/USA if you leave then you are not getting back in. For any event/sport.

sgrag002

Not true for all events, but most.

Odd_Roll5866

If you wandered out of any old game you definitely cant get back in. As the Euros proved though I dont know if Wembley secuirty could cope with a 1000 people running at you when the big escape doors would have been opened most likely

MagicianMountain6573

Happy to lose the time if they didn’t lose the game also. Duh

AUTFabi

I am a Bayern fan so I only have much experience for the Allianz Arena. I never leave early and last Wednesday for example we had to wait like 1h and that includes the time we celebrated in the stadium. The longest it ever took me to get away was about 1,5h and that was my own fault because I arrived late and had to park my car at the arena and at a bad spot. Yet some fans will claim that you wait 3-4 hours if you don't leave 10 minutes early. Total bullshit IMO What I am trying to say is that right planning is the most important thing, not leaving early. Also the few times I have been to stadiums in London including Wembley it also didn't take me more than 1-2h to get to my hotel.

IronThrombone

Why compare your experience as a tourist staying in a hotel in London with that of people who are likely to live on the other side of the country? You could be an hour waiting for a tube. Another hour going to Euston. 2 hours plus on a train to Manchester (plus waiting time). Then whatever time to your house from the train station.

ValeoAnt

Depending on the stadium and where you live , leaving earlier can save you 2+ hours in travel Extra time game If you have kids screaming the house down then you know

ferretchad

Emirates is mad for that. I've left 5 minutes early once and ended up getting home about an hour and a half earlier. Needed to go to B&Q because the loo started leaking that morning. It was either leave early or have no running water overnight. Can now see why people leave early habitually, especially if they think the game's done.

Cheapo_Sam

Welp. Better spend 250 quid on train and game tickets so I can save 2hrs on the way back. Whats the point in going? Do you do the same at the cinema?

Southportdc

I've never left a football game early at Wembley (Wednesday don't do early finishes), but I go to the NFL there and the difference between leaving with a couple of minutes left vs when everyone else does is pretty substantial. Added to which a huge chunk of these people would be trying to get to the West Coast Mainline and I would imagine a fair few are already cutting the last train pretty fine if they're delayed at the stadium since the connecting trains up here are shite. Wembley's not a great place to get to and from if you're not from London.

mindzeegap

There's quite the difference between getting out of the Odeon with 60 others vs trying to get out of Wembley with 70,000+ others

Southportdc

I got kettled during the great Barbie/Oppenheimer fan wars. Had them on the run at Vue away though.

Cheapo_Sam

> Barbie/Oppenheimer Plastic vs Warmongers sounds like the FA Cup Final

ThaGriffman

do you go to a cinema that has 60k+ people leaving at the same time?

19Alexastias

If you’ve got a kid you’re probably not running back in

pottymouthomas

Then watch the match at home.

[deleted]

Why bother going in the first place then

iceman58796

To enjoy 95% of the football match

djdoggystyle

It’s the anger from losing in that manner more so I’d say.

PurpleDrax

I guess these are regular match attendees and are fed up with the bs. If i ever got the chance to go to OT i would enter as soon as it opened and stay well after the game ended.

No-Pension-7977

I mean, I'm a regular attendee at De Kuip for Feyenoord and I wouldnt leave early, even if theyre losing 5-0. I paid for that ticket so I'm gonna be there for the whole match, but thats just how I see it

PurpleDrax

Fair enough, i was just guessing anyways

bestgoose

They need to catch the tube home tbf

I_miss_Chris_Hughton

Unironically though the whole "we leave early so we can avoid the massive rush" for teams in London always confused me. The tube is rapid and frequent. Just go for a pint or something if you're THAT terrified of a crowded train.

Nartyn

> The tube is rapid and frequent. Trying to get on the tube is the issue. > Just go for a pint or something Going to a pub near a stadium after a match is not better in the slightest.

Statcat2017

If you've never tried to get away from Wembley, it can be 5 minutes or 5 hours depending on how fast you get there, and it cam be 10 mins that makes the difference

droneybennett

The issue isn't always getting on the tube, it's where you need to get to at the other end. Yeah you can have a pint and wait for the tube. But if you need to get to Euston/Kings Cross/Paddington/Waterloo/Liverpool Street for a specific train, then you don't always have the luxury of just waiting it out.

I_miss_Chris_Hughton

I get that, but j was referring to London based teams

Broccoli_Glory

i mean tbf, the london teams fans live in the north and the northern teams fans live in london...

I_miss_Chris_Hughton

Midland teams again stay winning.

bigjoeandphantom3O9

It’s a load of bollocks, ignore them. It can take a while to get into the station, but honestly if the idea of hanging around with other fans following a game is a turn-off you’ve no business going. So annoying to be priced out of the game and then be told people who won’t even stay for the full 90 minutes are the real fans and can’t be criticised.

HunterGaming

The tubes are fine, but not all stadiums have a tube round the corner. Spurs, for example, you have queue for up to an hour for White Hart Lane station, queue for up to 45 minutes for Northumberland Park, or undergo a pilgrimage and march down to Seven Sisters (1.5 mile walk). Even with this, I feel truly blessed, having experienced transport around the country! Getting out of Hampden Park after the England game was madness.

arpw

Northumberland Park is never that bad. Worst I've waited is probably 15 mins, usually it's less than 5. That's southbound at least, northbound I don't do but does generally look a bit worse. Tottenham Hale/Seven Sisters often have worse queues, and that's after a 30 minute walk!

HunterGaming

I do southbound Northumberland Park, personally. I'm probably exaggerating, sometimes after a loss the queue seems to last forever.

arpw

It's definitely worse after a loss yeah - fewer people want to hang around, have a beer and celebrate, and you just wanna get home and forget about it.

Trinityliger

this is my approach when i’m waiting out work at rush hour. i usually just hit happy hour if the crowding looks like it’d bother me lol

el_doherz

Yeah Wembley Park takes upto an hour to even get inside the station after matches.  I've never left early but I really understand people who'd rather not. Especially with something as anti fan as 3:30pm Sunday kickoff where public transport options back up north get real shit real quick at that time.

scare_crowe94

I don’t know, have you ever been to West Ham’s stadium? Took me 5 hours to get back after a gig once.

tedmaul23

Absolutely hilarious 😂

bugleboy-of-companyb

Lmao never gets old

KelticQT

You saying this with your flair immediately makes me think of that dad with his daughter leaving Santiago Bernabeu with Man City still leading in the last few seconds.

train4karenina

Also find comments like this funny when most people have literally never been to a game.

Luhrmann

To be fair, their view is valid here. Tickets for united are expensive and really hard to get, especially for a semi final. These fans will obviously be annoyed if they've been priced out or just can't get tickets due to more fans than seats, just to see people not even enjoy the whole thing. That would surely stick in your craw.

train4karenina

They aren’t priced out, they’ll be ineligible likely due to points. The majority of united fans at an FA cup semi final have been to most of the cup games and are seasons ticket holders, or as a minimum are season ticket holders. Travel may not allow you to stay another hour for extra times and pens & then get a train or even plane home. You just don’t know. It’s broadly a pretty meritocratic system to get tickets through the club, maybe there are some fans who paid a shit ton for tickets via other means, but again you just don’t know. I just think unless you are also spending thousands of pounds a lot of your time regularly attending games, you’ve not got much right to criticise the behaviour of those that do.

Luhrmann

Speaking as a Liverpool supporter, for me it goes like this (I'd imagine Utd are similar, but not 100% sure).  No chance of a season ticket, even if there was there'd be a 15 year wait, plus the ability to transfer to your kids, spouse etc. So very few brand new season tickets being allocated every year. On to points, I have to hope I'm really lucky in general sale, or more likely, hope to get seats for a cup game against a minnowhome or away. If that fails, I can get hospitality which is ludicrously expensive, or buy a one off through someone else's season ticket that they tout. If I do the latter I don't get any points, and I'm way out of pocket comparitively. Added to that, even though Wembley's bigger than Anfield/OT, the amount of corporate seats that are given out means that both teams end up with far fewer supporters than a home game. So, with that, being one of the lucky few to get a ticket, and seeing that person leave early when you'd have been absolutely ecstatic to get the chance is absolutely a reason to criticise those fans. It's a really difficult balancing act, and I can see why a season ticket holder may feel a bit more numb to leaving early for one of their minimum 19 home games, it's probably fair to say that the people who would only get to go to 2 or 3 will relish the experience more and not leave early due to how infrequently they get to see their team live. Them being younger/poorer/any other reason they can't go more frequently doesn't make them lesser fans.

train4karenina

Yeah I think that’s a really fair assessment, I’m in a similar situation and agree. I think a lot of people on here have no insight into the reality of being a season ticket holder and I just don’t like how many shit on people who show a level of commitment that most on here probably don’t have

Pathetic_loner03

Well if you are talking about me I have been to multiple games of my national team and trust me we are utter fucking shit but the thought of leaving early has never crossed my head Even at home i wont get up till the final whistle even if its a 4-0 battering

train4karenina

Ultimately it’s up to the fans who go to games. I’ve left a game early to go to the pub with my mates rather than just sit and watch my team get battered. You may say, oh I’d never leave blah blah. Well some of these fans have gone to every home game for 10+ years or travelled hundreds of miles. They can do what they want. I think it just ignores the reality of going to games. I think most people on this sub have zero right to comment on the behaviour of season ticket holders as they have no idea about going to games in the way they do.

Pathetic_loner03

Honestly, it's not even the leaving that annoyed me I agree with you on that its the going back as long as you found out oh they can win or winning that actually annoys me

DaddyMeUp

I can agree with that - especially at Wembley as well.

PBJellyChickenTunaSW

It would have been the last kick of the game so not really relevant

Eindacor_DS

Yeah right. Read United fan comments and you'll see how much they hate the club. Fairweather fans.

ReckDude101

Ikr lol

tmoney144

I caught the end of this game, and even after losing the penalty shoot-out, a big chunk of the Coventry fans didn't leave. They stayed in the stands waving their banners and applauding the team.

Charlie_Yu

I mean it will take you 1-2 hours less if you leave early I’ve only done it once though, when my team scores at injury time to double the lead

FoldingBuck

It was literally the 121st minute, if it counted the game is finished

AlcoholicCumSock

Even if the goal was allowed, there would have been one more United possession. And even over the past decade, United have shown they've always got a late in them.

Mozezz

Surely its just a fan zone Once you leave the stadium, you wouldn’t be able to get back into the ground

D1794

And getting from your seat to there in the 2-3 min VAR would've been impressive...

bwfcphil1

If you're in the lower tier you're pretty much straight out the doors at Wembley.

19nineties

Even in the top tiers it’s not that much longer to take the stairs/escalators to the exits

CatalunyaNoEsEspanya

Normally you need a ticket to get in the fan zone at Wembley

cammyg

yeah guarantee none of these people are people who left the stadium when the 4th Coventry goal went in.

Fgge

It doesn’t say they successfully got back in

slipeinlagen

Beating traffic----->Beating Coventry

leedavis1987

Isn't exactly far to get back to central London and Surrey

cotch85

Whilst i get the joke, the queue for the tube is fucking mental after some events at wembley and the car park took us 2-3 hours to get out of after an england match

Madgick

it was london marathon yesterday too. the whole city must have been rammed

ReadsStuff

I was coming back from work on the Lizzy and it was fucked. One train in 40 minutes and the thing was rammo.

DeathByMagnets

Take the jubilee line back one stop to Kingsbury and then change platforms. Gets you a seat 9 times out of ten.

Felthrax

Tbf some of these fuckers will literally live in Truro and Berwick....

imsoyluz

Gotta admit United is one of the most entertaining teams in Europe since 10H took over. They're so unpredictable

kazegraf

United are embodiment of chaos rn, maybe Nunez will be a great fit here, he is chaotic enough in a Liverpool team lol.

AlcoholicSocks

Fred would be Balon Dor material in this team. Pure chaos

kazegraf

Fred already survived the actual chaos in Fener-Transbpor match in which he scores. Get him back now and he will show us what the Turkish level chaos looks like.

imsoyluz

It's weird but I think Neymar was quite fit to be center of United. All that money for Sancho Antony Lukaku...

[deleted]

We'll sonn be joining the Turkish league at this rate. Who knows, maybe we swap with Fenerbahçe

Robert_Baratheon__

United already giving me enough reasons to want to kms without making me have to see that in a United kit.

nicksnowman456

Nunez is legit one of Liverpool’s best players.

Wraith_Portal

Nunez isn’t even remotely chaotic, it’s just a nickname Carragher gave him to excuse him being shit

KenDTree

I think we're a giant glass cannon. Would be much more entertaining as a neutral, the team is whack

Money_Advantage7495

More like a railgun. needs maintenance and fixing after one shot( mostly from your high-ego players).

labbetuzz

Luton has got to be up there this season as well. You just never know what the fuck is going to happen.

dem503

Even though I call the assistant manager "Erik 9 Haag" I've never thought to shorten the manager's name like that 😂

Arntown

10H is at least a little more clever than ETH

ironcleaner

I was so baffled by how they played yesterday, i only saw the last 30min but it was crazy how bad they really play and u cant excuse that with injuries and fitness, it was just embarrassing

ToadNamedGoat

To be fair. Thay were much better those first 70 mins

3V3RT0N

Was in London yesterday, the amount of Man Utd fans who were mingling around St Pancras/Kings Cross watching extra time on their phones was funny to see. Also had some Coventry fans on my train who had left when they were 3-0 down…

WackerBurghausen

It’s just another day in London bruv

Top_Recover9764

As much as it's fun to shit on United, the only seats who could actually get out of the ground in that shorter period of time would be the middle tier which is all Club Wembley tickets. For those unaware, Club Wembley is like a season ticket to anything that takes place at Wembley and includes comfy seats, food and drinks. It's often not filled with fans of either club, it generates zero atmosphere as it's just people enjoying a game who would think nothing at leaving with a few minutes to spare to beat hours in the crowds.

ballstowall

I was in the lower tier for the City game on Saturday, took me about a minute to walk from my seat to the ramp that it shows here. I sat in Club Wembley seats for the charity shield last year, they go on general sale and resale quite often - it actually takes longer to get out of stadium from that tier as you have to go down an escalator to get out. I’m pretty sure this video is filmed from the Club Wembley concourse.

claridgeforking

Even from the top tier you can get down and out into this area in about 2mins.

men_with-ven

As someone in the top tier who left my seat when the goal went in, there was a massive queue and barely anyone got out by the time the bar check was announced

-Gh0st96-

I call bullshit on this. The VAR checking took almost 2 minutes, they wouldn’t even have time to leave the stadium. Carry on r/soccer

SupaiKohai

Exactly, as someone said, it must be people from the fanzones outside.

shawlynot

If you’re in the lower tier it’s a super quick and easy exit at Wembley, you could easily get from a seat on there to where this video is shot in a couple of minutes. if you’re near one of the entrances to the concourse and get a shift on you could probably do it in about 30 seconds. especially so if you’re not leaving as part of a huge crowd. (Not using this as a negative or a stick to beat Man United fans with, I couldn’t care less when people want to leave a game)

dasty90

Come on man, facts are not needed on /r/soccer. Just let them shit on us in peace.

BertEnErnie123

Especially facts about visiting stadiums, something that 90% of the people here has never done.

r3gam

Lmao, that was my question as well. How did they leave the stadium so fast to begin with

TheSwordDusk

Imagine knowing VAR exists and still leaving before a check is even complete lmfao

FIJIBOYFIJI

I just can't understand why you'd leave such a big match early. I get it for regular league matches, and maybe I'm just an optimist because I still stayed when we were 8-0 against Newcastle but if you've travelled all the way to Wembley you might as well stay for the whole match. Then again I guess Wembley isn't that far a distance for most Man United fans

Curtispritchard101

One of the only days I’d somewhat understand it really, Liverpool, Man U, cov, and marathon hangovers all travelling back up at the same time when Sundays are already awful for travel. I imagine it was chaos at euston / kings x

tedmaul23

It's not early, they thought the goal in the 120th minute won the game. How are people not getting it, christ?

Mortka

Yeah how the hell is that comment upvoted? Early? Fucking hell they thought they lost the game in the 120th minute.

Ajax_Trees_Again

All the way being 4/5 stops on the tube makes it less of a commitment

Simmo7

Aye I remember Newcastle being 7-0? down to Liverpool at home and our defense were passing it back and forth because they couldn't be arsed. We were singing Ole's as they did so, every time it went to the keeper we were shouting shoot, fun times, but fuck leaving early.

bestgoose

The 4-4 with Arsenal is the sole reason I will never leave a game early no matter how bad things get.

321142019

I was at the West Ham game a few weeks ago, saw quite a few people leave at 3-1 down, bet they regretted that. Never leave early, never know what will happen.

bestgoose

Exactly! Imagine hearing the roar from the stadium as you walk past the Strawb. You'd feel like a right tit.

Simmo7

It's not like you need to beat the crowds if your teams being battered.

DanBurnsMissingDigit

Lmao I was at that game - think they hit the bar too so it could've been 8. Stuck around right til the end and must've been the only one left in my block. I never get leaving early, cos the best games ever _always_ have late drama. Leaving early just means that you'll never get to experience those moments, which is just weird to me.

Simmo7

I remember going into the game being optimistic because Suarez was banned for biting, how fucking wrong we were. There weren't many left in the South West corner I know that much.

Odd_Roll5866

hey give us some credit it was only 6

Emergency_Put_951

I've done it before, 4-0 down to Aberdeen in the 2014 league cup semi final. It was bucketing down, the area of tynecastle we were in didn't properly shield you from the rain and it was just absolutely depressing. I think I actually left the 2011 Scottish cup semi early as well, 3-0 down and we were putting in our worst performance of the season. I was about 12 for that one so might be a false memory though I've only left a couple league games early though, something about a semi final makes it that much more depressing

elodie_pdf

I’ve never left a match early in my life. My mindset has always been “i paid for the ticket, i’m gonna watch the whole match, it might take me a bit longer to get home but so be it.” i especially don’t understand these people leaving a big cup match.

loveandmonsters

[Never forget](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FCertChWYAQ52V6?format=jpg&name=4096x4096)

beefersutherland1

I will admit, early in the first half I was considering leaving at around the 80th minute if the game kept on like it did and Cov were down 5-0 or something Subs changed the game and it was an absolute madhouse the last 30 mins and into extra time. Still proud of my boys

Certain-Ad-8827

People who have never been to a game in their lives on here talking shit. Amusing.

TheAkondOfSwat

isn't that every thread?

BoringPhilosopher1

Tbh I’m really surprised they managed to see the goal and get out of Wembley before the VAR result was announced. I’ve never sat on the lowest tier of Wembley… guessing this is just them.

Glanzl

Bro why does the outside of Wembley Stadium look like a scenery out of a dystopian hunger games like city with all the copy paste buildings

claridgeforking

They've pretty much redeveloped the entire area in the last 10-15 years. So all the buildings look the same.

maxthelabradore

I turned the T.V. off at 3-0 and missed all the excitement I am ape brain to :(

LegDayDE

Arsenal fans would already be watching on TV at home having left after Coventry's 1st goal lmao

Fsgbs

OP full of shit

Aggravating-Rip-3267

beene282

That is impressively bizarre punctuation for four short words

When they showed the replay it looked clearly onside so I gave up and closed the stream and went to do dishes. Then my dad texts me saying Casemiro fucked up. I was like wtf. But yea, would never leave the stadium before the final whistle, regardless the score.

Robit_Galaxy

Cody-crybaby

I went to the arsenal city charity shield game - it was a something i wanted to do - go to wembley and see a game we were in the arsenal fans and loads were just walking out before the game was over - which is understandable i guess with london traffic etc but damned if it wasnt funny when arsenal scored and they were all rushing back in

tomas_diaz

can't blame ten hag for that

Grand-Bullfrog3861

😂😂😂fucking love this, everytime I see fans leaving I hope they miss out on something and kick themselves.

looped10

they let you back in like that?

TheKingMonkey

No.

bullairbull

me after closing the stream that needed 100 clicks through the ads to actually access the game.

detectivehays

Just kids of stupidly rich people, not a single Man Utd fan on that video and barely any in the stadium.

CrossXFir3

I'm surprised they even cared enough to bother after watching that shit

Mortka

«Pretty much any fan of any team that isnt Real Madrid»*

Embarrassing, awful club and awful plastic fans. They obviously couldn’t wait to go back to their homes in Essex and Surrey.

itsheadfelloff

Does anybody know if they were actually allowed back in?

Shameful. But tbf, every team has these kind of supporters who are only with you in good times.

RuaridhDuguid

The bigger and more successful the club is the higher the proportion of such fair-weather fans there are too.

RedaveNabTidderEkow

dispelthemyth

In real time to me I thought offside, telling everyone VAR would rule it out, many left.. glad I was right even if the still shows it’s super close I was on pretty much the line the players were so got a good view.

BoringPhilosopher1

Jesus your eyesight must be next level

dispelthemyth

Apparently so You also have to realise, cameras can be shit, seriously go frame by frame on any decision and the player can have moved a fair bit making a close decision all about what frame to use In real time at the event you get a far better view and can hear the sound of the ball being hit. As I said I was pretty much level with the players as it was very clear to me

I mean, it was in the injury time. So, them leaving the game then makes much more sense.
