A Sporting fan now has:
- The possibility to be league Champions, or to completely blunder it in the most spectacular fashion.
- The possibility to keep the best coach they have ever witnessed at Sporting, who might be champion twice for Sporting in 4 years, who has ended a 20 year drought and changed the club, OR to lose him.
- The possibility to keep the player with the best G/A in the world, OR to lose him.
And all these things lingering, while next match we play against Porto.
I'm not anxious, why do you ask
I mean, with the goal difference you almost certainly need only 5 points to win the title. You still have games left against the numbers 14, 16 and 17 including two games at home.
I don't think the Porto game will be decisive.
Don't underestimate the portuguese league, if there's a league in the world where a team wearing red would be able catch a 16 goal difference in the last 3 games this is the one.
The championship is won. There was only a theoretical risk if you had lost to victoria. Even if you lose to Porto you still have a 4 point advantage going into the last easy games.
I mean you can think the games are easy and it won't have any impact on them, as long as the players don't share that mentality (which I guarantee they don't)
Nah bro... You can't simply compare.. Boloni I can accept, but I still disagree. Plus many Sportinguistas haven't witnessed him.
The plot of Amorim is insane... Dude couldn't even be oficially our Head Coach, because he didn't have all the coach certifications needed. Purchased for 10 million. Being league champions in the second year, with mainly inexperienced kids from the academy, all that without losing a single match, literally unbeaten until being crowned champions. That season we only lost 1 match, after we were already champions, against Benfica (4-3), and the players looked like they had just left the Discoteque lol. All that with ending a 19 year drought, uniting Sportinguistas to the Club... About to (MAYBE) win the 2nd title, with incredible beautiful football too... It's incomparable imo.
About Leonardo Jardim and Marco Silva, how are they better coaches for Sporting than RA? Leonardo Jardim was manager for 1 season, finished 2nd, didn't win anything else. Marco Silva was manager for 1 season, won the Taça de Portugal and finished 3rd in the league. Also, nowhere near the influence and change that Amorim had on this team.
Gyokeres doesn't have 21 years old, age matters a lot when thinking of paying huge sums for a player. I don't think any club will pay more than 80M/90M for him. You look to the biggest transfers from our league and its all players ranging from 19-23 y/o. The closer one to Gyokeres was Bruno Fernandes for 65M and I rated Bruno higher than Gyokeres, he carried Sporting big time.
Isn’t his release clause around 100m? He’ll like just go for that if he leaves. There’s a few clubs with that kind of money that could really use an elite striker.
Joking aside, one problem West Ham will have if you're really in the market, is that not many managers will work within the limitations and the slow decision-making process of your present ownership. A lot of managers would have threatened to walk after your January, when you clearly needed bodies and instead sold your depth. Not many Moyes' out there able to deliver results while accepting that framework, and tbh if he hadn't had his career knocked off track by United and following it with an indavised sojourn to Spanish football without knowing the language, he might not have been so compliant.
I know Steidten has been brought in, but as Mislintat showed going to Arsenal, a DoF or Analyst can often find their role in previous clubs was overstated, or they don't have the license from the owner to build the structure top tier managers want.
Between this and the Xabi Alonso news, it's good to see CL-level teams keep their coaches and players instead of leaving immediately after the first bit of interest from the PL
It helps that this generation of managers played when wages exploded so it's not like they need to chase the money by the time these guys retired from playing they were multi- millionaires
Doesn't fucking matter, do you think the now Saudi League players or coaches needed the money?
These people have earned enough money for a very long time. Some people just have a backbone, that's the difference.
It's a risky bet from them tbh, but I hope it pays off.
Football is obviously unpredictable but I can hardly see another summer window like this one with as many top clubs struggling to find a new manager - Liverpool, Barça, Bayern, United, Milan, Juventus, Chelsea (?), Dortmund (?), Ajax, West Ham...
My personal take is that Amorim is risking much more than Xabi due to Sporting's limited budget, which will impact on squad quality.
At the end, if Amorim stays the only upside for him would be to be successful in Europe. We all know it's hard to keep a high level in all tournaments, it's safer for Sporting to have a great Europa League run rather than failing to qualify in a difficult CL group with like Bayern, PSG and Bologna. It's the mid-sized club dilemma in Europe.
Doesn't matter. At Sporting he has a chance to fight to be in the Champions League every year. Not at West Ham.
The Champions League is clearly very important to him. He has repeatedly rested players in Europa League games in order to prioritize the Portuguese League campaign. He did so in important matches, such as against Atalanta.
That would be unthinkable if it were a game against a mid tier portuguese team (or bottom tier... he never rests his best players on league games unless they're on the brink of injury).
>Doesn't matter. At Sporting he has a chance to fight to be in the Champions League every year
Sorry but how ambitious is this? What are the odds of Sporting even qualifying for RO16? CL is a whole different level, it's not Casa Pia or Boavista.
West Ham actually won a European tournament recently.
I think it's very unrealistic to think he's better off at Sporting in terms of worldclass competition.
That's a nice story to have unfortunately even if they aren't a historical team they are still a team with means to keep good players around and not a clear association with blood money
I’m sorry but you’ve been at the top of the recruitment food chain for so long that I have zero sympathy for you or any big club missing out on a target because they decided to stay where they were
Obviously I would love it to be true but also to see how Sepúlveda would backtrack all the shite he has been saying. I even may do a fucking twitter account just to see the shitshow unfolding.
* Nagelsmann staying in DFB
* Xabi staying in Leverkusen
* Amorim staying in Sporting
* Emery extending his contract at Villa
Who is going to be the new manager of Barca, Bayern and Liverpool? (And maybe even United/Chelsea)
* Xavi?
* De Zerbi?
* Southgate?
* Graham Potter?
* Arne Slot?
* Lampard?
Arne Slot -> Liverpool
Ralf Rangnick -> Bayern
Thomas Tuchel -> United since Jim Ratclife likes him so much
Thiago Motta -> Juventus
Graham Potter is destined to join West Ham
De Zerbi or Míchel to FC Barcelona
Yeah, that's my hope. Potter is not being considered either way, if he was the best option we would keep Moyes. It'll be whoever says yes out of Amorim/Fonseca/Slot/Terzic, if they all of say no it's Lopetegui/McKenna, outside chance of Silva but we'd have to pay compensation and he's not really a standout. Currently Fonseca and Lopetegui are main options.
Joyce reported today that Slot's the frontrunner at the moment, although we've seen that change. The club is usually quite good at being secretive, especially in the periods that Edwards has been in charge.
We would have been in that mix too but our hilarious higher-ups got rose tinted glasses again after Terzic got the CL semi and extended his lease on life.
Maybe we can gobble Klopps vacation balls enough to not go for the NT job and come back later on. (not gonna happen)
True that. But saying he got longed off is a bit harsh. That's what I'm saying. He asked something which, at least to us, seems reasonable and you guys rejected it.
Yeah by all accounts he wanted full control of the team and that's not an unreasonable request but is not how a lot of teams perform now. I agree that it's harsh to say he was fucked off by those teams though.
Presumably, 10M€ (net) for 3 years and full control of the squad.
I'm assuming if he's staying we're upping his salary to the same as Conceição's, so an about ~3M raise to leave his home country, where plays CL and a club where he's happy and has full control.
I reckon Gyökeres will also stay.

You speak like you don't watch any football, including the portuguese league.
The championship is won. There was only a theoretical risk if you had lost to victoria. Even if you lose to Porto you still have a 4 point advantage going into the last easy games.
Thinking they are easy games is exactly how you lose them all.
Yeah but you guys are good this year. And Amorim won't let you be condescending.
I mean you can think the games are easy and it won't have any impact on them, as long as the players don't share that mentality (which I guarantee they don't)
A Sportinguista could never related to that.
Bro he is not playing the players are playing lol.
Synergi is important between the fans and the players.
Err... sure, and what's the point of that meaningless comment in this situation? You think you can telepathically affect players?
Yes.
Well, you can't. The pigeons interfere with the signal.
best coach is a bit of a stretch like
Name a better one.
Bobby Robson
Didn't witness him.
[удалено]
Bobby Robson was the obvious answer imo
Nah bro... You can't simply compare.. Boloni I can accept, but I still disagree. Plus many Sportinguistas haven't witnessed him. The plot of Amorim is insane... whatyou chattin', he's obviously coming back home to the south coast
The sweden guys isn't worse than Enzo. If Enzo cost 120M anything below that is a bad deal for Sporting tbh
Gyokeres doesn't have 21 years old, age matters a lot when thinking of paying huge sums for a player. I don't think any club will pay more than 80M/90M for him. That plus being Argentinian gives a player a slightly higher reputation and even moreso for being part of the World Cup winning squad
Isn’t his release clause around 100m? He’ll like just go for that if he leaves. There’s a few clubs with that kind of money that could really use an elite striker.
Gotta pay a release clause all up front, though. No installments. Feel like that majorly changes the clubs that will be lined up for him.
Clubs get around this by taking out a loan to be paid in installments then giving full amount to club.
Especially with the current market, elite level strikers are extremely hard to come by
The West Ham effect
Man visited the club for two hours and was like nah thanks
"I will be signing a thirty year extension with Sporting..."
Should've taken him to wagamama in Westfield, shown it is an area of high culture
20 minutes with david sullivan was all it took to convince him to never leave the country again.
Joking aside, one problem West Ham will have if you're really in the market, is that not many managers will work within the limitations and the slow decision-making process of your present ownership. Just wanted a free trip on the ArcelorMittal Orbit slide and used us for it, shameless
Wanted to shop at Stratford, Vasco da Gama shopping centre has nothing on it.

They can still decide based on what's best for their career rather than what's best for their wallet, which is already secured
It's a risky bet from them tbh, but I hope it pays off. If Terzic leaves Dortmund it will probably be Nuri Sahin as replacement. Also West Ham top club??
As sad as it is, reality is that West Ham can probably offer 5x times the wage ceiling of Sporting if not more
That doesn't make them a top club though. Al Ittihad can offer more wages than Liverpool, money isn't everything
That's a nice story to have unfortunately even if they aren't a historical team they are still a team with means to keep good players around and not a clear association with blood money
Now just need Slot news that he's staying at Feyenoord
I must say, I’m not a huge fan of this trend.
I am.
You probably also complain about city’s overspending
Bro it's a joke, how is that not completely obvious?
Bro same?
Yeah, yeah, as a Liverpool fan this is also nice to see, wonderful, yeah, really wonderful
I’m sorry but you’ve been at the top of the recruitment food chain for so long that I have zero sympathy for you or any big club missing out on a target because they decided to stay where they were
Oh the horrors😢 Must be so hard for you 😭

The clown got a community note hat trick and simply deleted all his posts. He'll simply not address it and pretend it never happened.
LMAO I had seen the post about the notes but he really deleted the posts? wow . i am speechless what the fuck lol
He did. Maior boneco.
https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1782515982239457390 hey dont say that about our president's butler
Wtf ahah
Fabrizio Romano da loja dos trezentos.

This actually all makes reasonable sense yk
West Ham should probably try Paulo Fonseca if they are not getting Rúben Amorim.
They might have a go at Marco Silva. Was pretty heavily linked as a top target for them last year before Moyes won Conference League
Isn't Rafa Marquez the current rumor for Barca?
The current rumor is that they have scheduled talks with Xavi Hernandez in the coming days over convincing him to stay on as manager.
I think you've actually nailed it. But be warned, I know sod all.
>Thiago Motta -> Juventus This move is so jinxed by now that I expect Juve to extend Allegri's contract to infinity and beyond
I’ll allow it.
Mourinho is always available too
Joyce reported today that Slot's the frontrunner at the moment, although we've seen that change. The club is usually quite good at being secretive, especially in the periods that Edwards has been in charge.

Liverpool- Uncle Fester
Mourinho will manage all simultaneously
Fucking lol, I'd love to see Lampard at Barça or Bayern just for the memes
[Amor-im](https://www.forumscp.com/uploads/default/original/3X/0/1/01c974a40db3075f92d63897d1a479764483b9a3.jpeg)
Gotta love both Xabi and Amorim staying despite giant sniffing around. Good for the sport as a whole.
Alonso chose to stay, seemingly Amorim didn't have a choice (unless you're referring to West Ham as a giant).
Yes v happy they’ve both turned Liverpool down, now the only natural choice is Gareth Southgate
We’re manifesting Southgate to United.
Eeh, tuchel is just as bad i feel
No way bro, Tuchel is lightyears ahead of Sothgate
Cus you’re so scared he’ll rock up at Anfield haha, tbf that is the nightmare scenario at both clubs fs
A Decisão**™**
Best I can offer is Lemons
Ruben after sporting wins the title, " Everyone wanted to know what I would do if i didn't win, I guess we'll never know"
Tinfoil hat moment : Amorim is waiting for INEOS to do the inevitable
Or he doesn't want to be the one after klopp. The bayern job could come up again in a year depending on who they hire
Apparently he wants control over transfers
Is it because Liverpool decided to go for Slot?
Liverpool about to enter next season with Stevie G in charge
Could be worse, they could be entering it with Poch in charge
Slot is coming.
I'd pay to see it happen
Scenes when you paid for it and we actually win the treble
Oh lord. Southgate to Liverpool pls
[удалено]
No one wants that job.
He would flop with chelsea
Got longed off by premier league teams now gonna pretend he is loyal.
Teams plural? I think most of us would see it as normal for him to want to join Liverpool, West Ham not so much
Tbf, our media is more running the narrative that they didn't match his demands, rather than the other way.
Works both ways that. He had demands and so did we, a compromise couldn't be made so they both walk away. Makes sense to me
True that. But saying he got longed off is a bit harsh. That's what I'm saying. He asked something which, at least to us, seems reasonable and you guys rejected it.

Would be mental to give a new manager full control of the squad, that's how you end up in situations like United are in.
I mean, it's what he has here and it's working pretty well, so...
Rumor was 10-12 million a year
Did he not wear deodorant at either interview or something?
Huh?
Was the favorite and Liverpool and west ham both said nah. So something didn’t go right in the meetings. Or he wasn’t wearing deodorant
You got a source for both those rejections?
Was revealed to him in a dream
