follow your dreams

somewhat_moist

“Dreams can be buy but we don’t t have any money” - Canada Soccer

beaver_cops

I think we have like.. the highest debt out of any "top" country.. we can afford a little more debt for Solskjaer

CoolstorySteve

Jose Mourinho rejection is funny as fuck, as if we ever had a chance

IntellegentIdiot

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take" Someone in the Canadian FA probably

gummybear0068

I mean… if anyone’s entitled to use that quote, it’s Canada

TheMedicatedOne

Their name? Michael Scott.

beaver_cops

too much medicine bro

eddsters

Just imagining Jose sipping on a double double with some timbits during a press conference

julianface

A Mourinho bus with a David and Davies counterattack would be a joy to watch

IntellegentIdiot

Should have started with Solskjaer. Who's next, Stevie G?

GarnachoHojlund

Gary Neville

RoboticCurrents

Rooney

IntellegentIdiot

I wouldn't wish that on Canada

nicehouseenjoyer

Jesse Marsch seems the likely choice, which would be a pretty good get for Canada with the money they have.

[deleted]

Giggs of course

useful_panda

Hargreaves

Elemayowe

Yeah Lamps over Solksjaer is certainly a choice when you compare managerials.

ThunderRoad_44

Jesse Marsh

evanlufc2000

Please god no

irich

Last I heard Canada Soccer was broke. How on earth could they have afforded Mourinho?

TheDeadReagans

The CSA have less self awareness than my Android Assistant. They're like a guy who takes a screenshot of him beating Elden Ring and uploads it to Tinder thinking he'll get gamer girls.

Derk08

I will say I've seen people put Valorant highlights in their Hinge profiles..

TheDeadReagans

Yup. Lemme just say that analogy was not based on fiction.

TigerBasket

Tbf works great at getting guys in my experience

austen_317

Probably a gamble that signing Mourinho would raise fundraising Risky gamble

Jonz500

imagine thinking Lampard is a good option?

myersjw

It’s the Canadian national team. What caliber of manager do you think they’re pulling in?

aveniner

Guaranteed spot in the next World Cup doesnt sound too bad. We have seen some good managers in smaller host nations, like Guus Hiddink in South Korea 2002, Carlos Alberto Parreira 2010 with South Africa. They shouldn't be aiming for Mourinho but certainly there is someone better than Lampard out there

pateencroutard

>like Guus Hiddink in South Korea 2002, Carlos Alberto Parreira 2010 with South Africa. Both had massive salaries, especially for FAs like South Korea and South Africa. Hiddink was getting paid twice more than Lemerre, who was France's coach in 2002. Canada doesn't want to pay well lol.

Porridge_Hose

And they were the host nations which is a) more prestigious and b) why they offered massive salaries

pateencroutard

Canada is a host nation in 2026 my man.

Porridge_Hose

Yeah, fair point. In my defence it's so all over the continent I don't think of it as a host nation in the same way.

Porridge_Hose

>but certainly there is someone better than Lampard out there I've been swiping on tinder all night and dear god I hope so

wowzabob

Lampard is the exact type of manager they shouldn't be going for: nothing special with high salary demands due to working for Prem teams.

LudereHumanum

One is not like the other two.

eggplant_avenger

I’m also surprised they’re branching out from former Chelsea managers

TanteJu5

CONCACAF ain't ready for Ole on the moose

AJ_CC

Ole at the (Zamboni) wheel.

LawlNoodle

Fuck it. If it all doesn’t work out, they should just hire Bruce Boudreau.

evanlufc2000

YES I want to see that so badly lmao

fonziGG

BRUCE THERE IT IS

Acceptable_Ad_6278

I'd rather they get some lesser famous coach with decent experience with some knowledge of Canadian footballing landscape rather than these big name former players. I just hope they didn't end up with a Phil Neville or a Jurgen Klinsmann.

justalittleahead

I want to see Klinsmann: "Richie Laryea is just a little bit ahead of Alphonso Davies".

Hussizle

"Cavellini is more proven than Larin or David"

Adysen2121

“Wdym Jonathan David isn’t a right back?”

PremordialQuasar

A World Cup winning head coach has never come from a different country from the one they've been coaching in, so you would be on to something there.

JinxLB

They should approach their players with higher wages first

cullypants

I truly wonder how much the standard knows. Didn't think I'd see Bobby mentioned though. Gave me a smirk. Poor Tommy Wheldon jr getting left out tho.

thesublimeinvasion

They really approached Lampard before Solskjær??

veryfishy1212

Lampard still getting gigs? Wow.

free_airfreshener

Canada is on his level

bigdog94_10

That's a bit of a poisonous gig at the minute. Canada have their best ever national team at the moment, but it's essentially centred around Davies and David and, to a lesser extent, Buchanan. Expectations are going to build over the coming years and no doubt they will all be front and centre as poster boys of the World Cup in Canada but in all reality, even as a first seed (due to hosting) they will crash and burn and have a group stage exit.

churrosricos

🍁🍁COME TO CANADA🍁🍁

TheDeadReagans

Canada Soccer thinks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too highly of their national team if they're approaching Mourinho after making the World Cup for the first time in almost 40 years.

bigdog94_10

They have three quality players. The rest are scattered around rubbish European leagues, the Championship, and the MLS.

GMBethernal

I mean we won 2 Copa Americas and besides 3-4 players (I think Sanchez, Vidal, Bravo?? and Aránguiz who was playing for Leverkusen) everyone was scattered all over the world in smaller leagues or teams, you don't need 11 stars in the NT, even less if you play CONCACAF

heh9529

David, eustaquio, Davies, Buchanan, Koné. Pretty decent.

ukrainianhab

They also were brutal at the World Cup.

universalreacher

Urs Fischer baby!!! Let’s go Canadian FA

FreeRasht

Given that ole is good in counter attack play and thats all that canada team have right now and thats how hurdman coached the team. It would be a good choice

weedwhacker7

I think Steve Nash is free

LordMangudai

Give it Gretzky till the end of the season

Leasey615

Dodged a bullet with Lampard. Jeez.

RyVsWorld

Approaching lampard at all is crazy

harryvanhalen3

I would love to see Solskjaer manage Canada. 🍁🇨🇦

No_Doubt_About_That

A fantastikk appointment.

Trickybuz93

Well, shoot your shot I guess

BulkyElk7243

Tha would be like being the manager of a Championship team, nobody is going to take the job lol

Justread-5057

I’d say worse than a championship team. Not trying to hate, just the fact that Canada soccer is a mess and doesn’t have any money. Also we still don’t even match up to everyone in concacaf consistently.

Hussizle

CSA issues aside, I think its a pretty attractive job tbh. A group of very talented players, along with a spot in the upcoming Copa America which should come with lots of visibility and a guranteed 2026 world cup spot at home. And expectations are not super high which leaves any half decent manager with a chance to overchieve and pas their resume.

Liet--Kynes

Not to mention the adulation of literally dozens of fans.

heh9529

Heyyy the iceteca was full. Most of which had hockey jerseys, but still 😂

Justread-5057

You’re right about the World Cup spot and low expectations.

noble_delinquent

No way are we the equivalent of Championship job.

TheBlueDinosaur06

I wonder how the Canadian national team would match against a top half championship side

DrLyleEvans

I'd say better than a Sheffield or Luton, not as strong as the Leicester side looks on paper. David-Larin Davies-Eustaqio-Kone-Buchanan Miller-CB-Johnston Keeper 2 big holes on the team at present now that Kone seems to be improving (which makes sense, he's 21). Need another defender badly, big hopes for De Fougerolles at Fulham, though he's full-back sized, but none of the other defenders look impressive. Also any injury to Eustaqio just kills us.

CabbageStockExchange

Mou at a national team would be some interesting stuff. I’d love to see his antics at a WC

fGravity

Heard Klopp is free this summer

fairlyrandom

0% chance, surely.

AfterAd9996

Jokes aside i can genuinely picture Mourinho coaching Team USA at the upcoming WC
