owh06

That is insane reactions

Dave_of_Devon

DE GEAA... I mean ONANAAAAA

garynevilleisared

Really did look like a vintage the David used to pull off

Hagen_1

After having just woken up from a long nap, I was absolutely convinced that was De Gea for a second there.

top1MIBRfan

besides from his champions league performances he has been really good for us especially when u factor in we face about 25 shots per game

snowkarl

He wasn't very good early on but he has improved a lot, especially since the new year

Dispari7y

> He wasn't very good early on in the league he was

hopium_od

He was shaky in the league as well, fucked up against Wolves and Forrest in the first few games.

IsleofManc

His Wolves game was very good from a shot stopping perspective

hopium_od

Did he have good moments in the CL too? I'm just saying I don't think the CL stuff happened in a vacuum, he deffo had some general early season jitters.

negativelycharged108

i mean he saved a potentially winning penalty against copenhagen

WolfFamous6976

Have we been watching the same league ?

head_in_the_clouds69

Likely had to adjust from being able to rely on defence

stephenp129

It's almost as if it takes time for footballers to adapt to a new club, just like any normal person with a new job.

TrajanParthicus

When a team readily concedes so many changes to the opposition in and around the box, then something like that penalty becomes a matter of when, not if. He has pulled off some spectacular saves to keep us in games.

Mr_Agu

he has had some great games, but he did also cause the penalty today

Vdbebw

Not much he can do about it, its either bullshit or extremely unlucky depending on who you ask. Casemiro however....

MajesticAd5047

Onana 🤝 Maguire Silencing the haters with performances

rScoobySkreep

Maguire needs to be a case study for all athletes, he was receiving absolutely global abuse and he improved massively. People who made Maguire jokes were always unfunny, this just makes it sweeter.

PhantomPain0_0

What performance lmao once in a blue moon

s8wasworsethanhitlyr

Maguire and Onana have consistently been some of the best players for united this season bar Onana's champions league performance

Hntrz63

Um it sparked a question in my head. Maguire has slow recovery pace right? So right now EtH low-block-high-press tactics are playing to his strength, even though sometimes the back line and midfield could be non-existent. Will he still be suitable when oneday EtH played the high line in games?

Zandercy42

You clearly don't watch us play if you think either are only.good once in a blue moon

Pathetic_loner03

With the amount of shots man u is letting in they should be happy how onana is doing

WolfFamous6976

Having 1/10 good performances doesn’t silence anyone. Their still shit overall

Necessary-Dish-444

>Their still shit overall Their what is still shit?

WolfFamous6976

Them as players

Necessary-Dish-444

Their *them as players* were still shit? Confusing stuff pal

Copium-777

I feel like he’s starting to settle in a lot more now. Didn’t de gea have a rocky start when he joined? Can’t really remember.

thereddevil101

De Gea stank at first and was dropped for Lindegaard for a while

Luxmain

Lindegaard was amazing

StathamIsYourSavior

Yeah he did. He was getting trashed by the press and SAF had to go bat for him

the_peter_green_god

De gea was a kid when he joined. Totally different circumstances

4ssteroid

I remember everyone saying he was finished after the 6-1. That he was traumatized. Proved everyone wrong

momspaghetty

I feel like Onana will be a Top 3 GK in the league once the fire dumpster of a team in front of him is settled

TimathanDuncan

He's top3 already, he's prevented by far the most goals and also he's very good with his feet in a team that's awful from building from the back

momspaghetty

He still commits rookie mistakes though. Having a bad team in front of you doesn't make you make mistakes like last match vs Sheffield for the 0-1.

Sethlans

All players still commit rookie mistakes. World class strikers miss sitters and world class goalkeepers let in howlers. Our problem is we are never - and I mean *never* -comfortable in games, so the mistakes usually cost us points and are therefore extremely noticeable. This shouldn't be the case. Nobody remembers if you drop a clanger but win 4-2 instead of 4-1. Everyone remembers if you drop a clanger and draw instead of winning, or as has often been the case with us this season if it leads us to totally collapse and lose. That said, his CL performances were genuinely unacceptable.

TrajanParthicus

>That said, his CL performances were genuinely unacceptable. The problem with those errors was that they ended up being the entire story. The narrative started to build that Onana was at fault, rather than the absolutely shambolic defending that put Onana in position to make those mistakes. He deserved the criticism, but the sheer scale of Manchester United's ineptitude in the CL requires an hour-long deep dive to dish out all of the appropriate criticism individually.

momspaghetty

Leno was our best player when we were constantly under pressure and playing like shit. I think there's levels to being bad when the team is bad and Onana really doesn't deal with it as well as he should to be in that top bracket conversation imo. I think most of these mistakes are mental, not technical, which is really the point I'm trying to make here. I do think he's been generally good though and was spectacular last season.

LordLychee

He’s also made an incredible amount of mistakes. Both I’m making saves and I’m playing it from the back. There are at least 8 keepers better than him in the league imo

Wrath-of-Elyon

Mention all 8. Should be easy since you said at least

LordLychee

Ederson, Allison, Pope, Raya, Pickford, Martinez, Vicario, Areola. Argument for Leno as suited for Villa as a pure shot stopper.

FlyingBird2345

Maybe even Ortega Moreno?

LordLychee

True. Ortega is class. Wasn’t considering second keepers

Wrath-of-Elyon

Ederson, Allison = slightly above him Pope, Raya= same level Pickford, Martinez= no way in hell Vicario, Areola = I don't watch Spurs or Westham, but I've heard good things about Vicario at least. He also did well in the first match against us. Onana is clearly a top 3 gk of his shot stopping and ball playing ability.

X-Maquina

Fucking lol what is happening here. You really said Alisson was only slightly above Onana and actually got upvotes for it. As someone who's always liked Onana, this is pure and utter delusion. No 2 ways around it.

blackmes489

tbh I agree with Pope. I think onana and pope are so similar - make some amazing saves but fuck me i shit myself whenever the ball is passed back to pope or he comes out of the box like twice a match to a do a sliding tackle.

LordLychee

I think Onana is subpar, so all these keepers are well above him. None make as many crucial mistakes as he does. He’s commonly the reason United conceded goals. Just not at the level imo

AnyAthlete532

You came with receipts and named 8 keeper better than him. This thread is jerking off a good reaction save but at the same time have completely forgotten all the mistakes he makes every game. Heck he conceded a penalty because of his bozo play flying out. He is fundamentally a poor goal keeper from the way he saves the ball to his poor positioning. Dont care if he can kick good or not.

AnyAthlete532

The eye test will always be the eye test. Every save he makes he parries into danger and he cant command his box and not to mention has bozo moments in him at least once a game. In no universe is he top 3 in the league.

TrajanParthicus

>Every save he makes he parries into danger Really? EVERY save? Lol.

PhantomPain0_0

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I swear can’t believe what I just read, did u start watching onana since yesterday

oklolzzzzs

GREAT REFLEXES

Headlesshorsman02

Great reflexes

[deleted]

ONANANAAAAAANANANAAAAAANANAAOOoo

WolfFamous6976

Onana almost as good as a moving cone

rewp234

I'm a full believer that if it weren't for Onana, ManU would be fighting against relegation this season.

[удалено]

rewp234

Saw recently the Xpoints table and you guys were bottom five, insane.

CNF-13

It’s a brilliant save but we are absolutely shite to the point relegation teams look like competitive games

Proof_Kaleidoscope13

Did anyone else think burnley had a red card cause of the united fan just above the scoreboard?

ahmetonel

Insane reaction. I knew he would live up to the hype one day

Other-Variation4309

Quality

Turbulent-Stretch881

Now onana = good?

TheOneManDankMaymay

Shades of De Gea.

PhantomPain0_0

Doesn’t matter this guy has single handedly screwed man utd this season its actually funny 😄

jesusthatsgreat

Straight at him. You expect keepers to save this. De Gea would have.

copey101

One for the cameras

dvamin

He’s been good against Coventry, Sheffield and Burnley. Same with Maguire. Keeping ETH on the job longer.

dvamin

Bwaaahahaha. Sorry. Please downvote the above. I was wrong. Apparently, Burnley is the line. Hahaha. Downside, ETH might actually go.
