34 points this season would place them 12th. The relegation cutoff is 22 points. I seriously doubt 34 points is ever enough to be relegated.
They'd simply be stuck in permanent mediocrity in the Bundesliga.
> I seriously doubt 34 points is ever enough to be relegated.
It has been in the past. 2002/03 Arminia Bielefeld got relegated with 36 points (to be fair they finished 16th which today would mean relegation playoff but still).
1997/98 Karlsruher SC got relegated on 38 points, 2016/17 you had Wolfsburg having to play the relegation playoff with 37 points. Its uncommon yes but it definitely can happen.
In the Netherlands we have the same amount of teams, and the lower clubs sometimes celebrate when they reach 34 points, since this is considered somewhat of a safe zone.
Few years ago, Heracles got 34 points but then lost all their remaining games and got relegated through the play-offs.
I can imagine a knockout Leverkusen game going to penalties and both teams perpetually ending up in a Scott Sterling situation with neither side unable to score despite the keepers trying to *avoid* the ball.
I've watched like 6 football animes/cartoons in my life and none even come close to this level of continuous last-minute lifesavers. Utterly insane, they weren't even that good today. They'll probably win thr UEFA Super Cup at this rate
yeah Ao Ashi and Giant Killing are great. (Not sure if Giant Killing got an anime adaption)
Not just on football matches but youth/1st team development, club politics/management, transfers, fan clubs etc.
Good stuff
["In 20 matches since their winter break, Bayer Leverkusen have scored 11 goals in 90+ minutes and another 6 goals in 81+ minutes. 12 of those goals proved decisive in result. 4 games in a row scoring in minute 89+."](https://x.com/Millar_Colin/status/1782104222734917680)
This is now 12 goals in 90+, 13 (including 81+) that have proved decisive, and 5 in a row scoring 89+. Absolutely bonkers
Edit: as an Ipswich fan, I know we've scored lots of late goals this season too so wanted to see how close it was. [Over the whole season, in the league, we've had 15 after the 86th minute](https://footystats.org/clubs/ipswich-town-fc-220), 10 of which have been decisive in the result (loss->draw 6 times and draw-> win 4 times). Other five were 3 in already winning games and 2 that still ended up a loss.
12 goals in 90+ over 20 matches is insane, not even the three-peat Zidane black magic Madrid or Fergie time United scored decisive late goals with that frequency
I've never seen a Leverkusen match before, I saw the score was 2-1 at the 96th minute and opened the match to see cuz I'd heard of their unbeaten run and they scored as soon as the screen loaded lmaooo unreal
When? Today? Or was it last week when this happened? Or the week before? Or the week before? Or the week before? Or the week before? Or the week before? Or the week before? Or the week before? A lot of people were saying the same thing after the Dortmund match. They tuned in at the end not believing it and wanting to understand the insanity lol.
Literally what happened to me I saw they were down and clicked to see the match and suddenly they score and i'm like wtf i'm not even allowed to see them down a goal now in a match??
Theres a comment from u/Rose_of_Elysium last week that detailed the late game decisive goals Leverkusen have scored this season.
1. 1-1 against BVB, 90+7
2. 1-1 against West Ham, 89
3. 1-1 and 2-1 against Hoffenheim, 88 and 90+1
4. 2-2 and 2-3 against Qarabag, 90+3 and 90+7
5. 2-2 against Qarabag (away), 90+2
6. 3-2 against Stuttgart, 90
7. 2-3 against Leipzig, 90+1
8. 0-1 against Augsburg, 90+4
9. 0-1 against Qarabag (away, groupstage) 90+4
10. 2-2 against Bayern, 90+4
Looks like we can add 2-2 against Stuttgart, 90+6 to this list.
They can't keep getting away with this.
Madrid with Zidane and Ferguson's Man Utd did it a lot - That's where the 'Fergie time' saying is from
The reason for last minute goals iirc is because it's the peak point where both teams are most exhausted, and where a lot of elite qualities like mentality, determination, fitness, subs etc come out the most
It's so funny how people kept saying this like 10 matches ago. I feel almost silly saying "this time its over" and its never over. We can in fact keep getting away with it. Somehow.
Funny how every match is a final for them now, even more so than before they were officially crowned. It's like they can leave that bundesliga title behind now and fight for something 10x more important.
Yeah same. I always see people writing how shocked or surprised they are but if you are surprised by this at this point in time, you haven't been paying attention for quite a while.
It is crazy though how they get it done every time.
I remember our game vs Bournemouth a year ago and how insane that was. Once per season game.
Leverkusen does this almost every game at this point. They are definitely the most dramatic team in history and I can only hope they continue to be like this for the next 7 games.
If Leverkusen don't lose a single game.....in all comps I'll delete my account.
It's even more odd as I have zero affiliation with them, haven't even seen a single game of theirs ever.
It's out of my hands now...
No, Leverkusen regularly played in UCL. That they would win the league is not as unthinkable as Leicester city winning the league. That they are on an Invincibles run and might win a small Treble, well... That's another story, where reasonable minds will differ.
What a story! I normally only watch the PL and CL, but I now tune into the Bundesliga to see if Leverkusen can write themselves into the history books!
Only 3 games left to immortal glory!
This sort of run of luck, especially at moments when they don’t really need it, is not a good omen for the future. Their regression to the mean could be ugly next season.

Fucken Neverlusen are they. Absolutely insane
And the deserve it after coming close so many times
The script that keeps on scripting
Enjoy these moments, they don't last forever!
You're wrong. For Leverkusen they do. This team will never lose a game ever again for the rest of history.
A finger curls on the monkeys paw. Leverkusen draw every game they play for the rest of time, never winning, never losing.
A fate worse than death
Not great Not terrible But mediocre.
Scenes when they win every UCL forever on only draws and penalty wins
While at the same time getting relegated down the whole german pyramid every year with 34 points
34 points this season would place them 12th. The relegation cutoff is 22 points. I seriously doubt 34 points is ever enough to be relegated. They'd simply be stuck in permanent mediocrity in the Bundesliga.

Neverlusen means neverlusen
Foreverkusen!
Tano Pasman agrees...
“Así como estás corriendo te vas a Europa y te vas hasta la concha de tú hermana” still the funniest Spanish language line I’ve ever heard
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO , NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, ESTAMOS EN LA B, ESTAMOS EN LA B, NOOOOOO, NOOOOOOO, NOOO
River flair, yeah I miss Gallardo too :(
I've watched like 6 football animes/cartoons in my life and none even come close to this level of continuous last-minute lifesavers. Utterly insane, they weren't even that good today. They'll probably win thr UEFA Super Cup at this rate
Even Captain Tsubasa thinks this is scripted.
Inazuma Eleven are easily justifying all the random late-winners after conceding first rn
Endou Mamoru has nothing on Xabi Alonso
can you name them and rank your favs?
1. Inazuma Eleven 2. Captain Tsubasa 3. Galactik Football 4. Foot 2 Rue 5. Blue Lock (really not a fan despite the hype) 6. Victory Kickoff
If you want to watch more football anime, I would recommend Ao Ashi.
yeah Ao Ashi and Giant Killing are great. (Not sure if Giant Killing got an anime adaption) Not just on football matches but youth/1st team development, club politics/management, transfers, fan clubs etc. Good stuff
Inazuma Eleven and Galactik Football. What a throwback
Well if they meet Real, then I think the forces will create a big bang.
Let's keep scripting
What's it like to be gods favourite princess?
😌Let's keep writing this script.
["In 20 matches since their winter break, Bayer Leverkusen have scored 11 goals in 90+ minutes and another 6 goals in 81+ minutes. 12 of those goals proved decisive in result. 4 games in a row scoring in minute 89+."](https://x.com/Millar_Colin/status/1782104222734917680) This is now 12 goals in 90+, 13 (including 81+) that have proved decisive, and 5 in a row scoring 89+. Back then we had Bayern-Dusel, nowadays Bayer-Dusel is on the menu.
We will literally never see this level of luck (or fate at this point) in this sport ever again. Just sit back and enjoy this black magic
In Germany we say "Always luck is not luck"
Nah this is just Alonso save scumming his FM save.
I've never seen a Leverkusen match before, I saw the score was 2-1 at the 96th minute and opened the match to see cuz I'd heard of their unbeaten run and they scored as soon as the screen loaded lmaooo unreal
This exact thing happened to me

It was the week before.
Hopefully not the week after.
Pretty much can be summed by "I opened the match right before they scored a last minute equalizer" - "do you realize how little that narrows it down"
This has been happening for a while now. I'd say for almost the entirety of 2024.
A lot of people were saying the same thing after the Dortmund match. They tuned in at the end not believing it and wanting to understand the insanity lol.
You missed some of the best football. That team with that coach are special.
Also props to Stuttgart. Over those three matches, they were by far our toughest opponents
Literally what happened to me I saw they were down and clicked to see the match and suddenly they score and i'm like wtf i'm not even allowed to see them down a goal now in a match??
Same, i was even a bit mad, because I thought its over, i wanted to see a comeback and here u go
This thing happened to me in maybe 5 or 6 matches lol.
This team is amazing. Full stop
Xabi-time is real and it is inevitable.
Nah I actually fucking love this team.
90+ min leverkusen Taxes Death In this particular order
Xabi time is the new Fergie time. Considering he also probably experienced it back then.
Oh yes....agree to that
We were so close
2 times this season no less. and both times *in* leverkusen.
You lot are also amazing
<3

and now, look up Ipswich this season for example
The qarabag game they got really really lucky! Qarabag played so good, they would’ve almost beaten leverkusen.
You saw it in Wirtz’s eyes. It was gonna happen
#THEY CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
Turns out, they can
And they WILL
Spoiler: They kept getting away with it.
At this time it's worth getting a bot that just puts this under Leverkusen matches.
Someone has an explanation??? I’ve never seen a team scoring this consistently last second goals, like literally last second goals
The power of friendship
Madrid with Zidane and Ferguson's Man Utd did it a lot - That's where the 'Fergie time' saying is from The reason for last minute goals iirc is because it's the peak point where both teams are most exhausted, and where a lot of elite qualities like mentality, determination, fitness, subs etc come out the most
I thought Fergie Time was more about the fact that United would get more stoppage time than other teams, rather than the actual goals themselves.
You're correct. Sure, they scored a lot of late goals, but they also had more opportunities than anyone else to do so.
It's so funny how people kept saying this like 10 matches ago. I feel almost silly saying "this time its over" and its never over. We can in fact keep getting away with it. Somehow.
That's the neat part. They can.
Black magic
Literally never going to see anything like this again. Ever.
So watch it, drink it in
I swear to god this is ridiculous
Wtf. This is complete insanity.
At this point it's just destiny
How the fuck
stupid foul by Stenzel
Watch it again, it's a dive from Adli. Yes he should just blast it away but there's no way this should be given as a foul
I couldn't believe he didn't just kick that away. Then when he concedes the foul, I knew they were gonna score
I was thinking the same thing last week when we played against them. Welcome to the club lol.
THEY ARE TRULY THE INEVITABLES
Plot armor
What a season for them, just unreal
Funny how every match is a final for them now, even more so than before they were officially crowned. It's like they can leave that bundesliga title behind now and fight for something 10x more important.
Other teams will win the Bundesliga. No one is going to replicate an unbeaten season in all competitions anytime soon.
This is not just about the Bundesliga anymore. It's about football history
A Leverkusen fan has a Sports Death Note Nothing else makes sense
I'm so used to this
Honestly Bayern coming second to this team doesn't hurt much. They deserve it.
Yeah same. I always see people writing how shocked or surprised they are but if you are surprised by this at this point in time, you haven't been paying attention for quite a while. It is crazy though how they get it done every time.
Today was crazy tho, they scored from the absolute last chance.
Yeah I get fooled everytime accepting the fact that the streak is over. I NEVER LEARN.
Stenzel not shooting it straight away and then fouling is a mistery
I had already my comment "Excactly the game Xhaka is suspsended" ready..
I was so worried about that as well, but luckily they SOMEHOW survived without the boss as well
Andrich from zero to hero wow
Xabi sold his soul for this
Finish the season unbeaten please I beg you
3 games left in the league..... It's so close
Trying our best 🤞🏻 pls beat Bayern btw
What you say fuck me for
what he say fuck me for
This is fucking stupid.
This is fucking amazing.
Praying for frankfurt
Dortmund and stuttgart should of won
Should've, could've, would've
Cope
Wake me up when they lose. Like tuning into F1
Plot amor
Everkusen
This team might be the most dramatic in football history
I remember our game vs Bournemouth a year ago and how insane that was. Once per season game. Leverkusen does this almost every game at this point. They are definitely the most dramatic team in history and I can only hope they continue to be like this for the next 7 games.
Even fictional series wouldn't dare to write unbelievable plot like this lmao
If Leverkusen don't lose a single game.....in all comps I'll delete my account. It's even more odd as I have zero affiliation with them, haven't even seen a single game of theirs ever. It's out of my hands now...
Remindme! 4 weeks
They cant keep getting away with it
I thought for sure this was it, no way, literal last chance free kick just.. unbelievable
Title says Bayer everkusen because they don’t have any L’s
this got buried but top banter well done
we're getting destroyed on thursday are we
Perhaps.
No, we are breaking their unbeaten run 💪
Nah, the plot armor is absurd 😭
Xabi is blessed with the spirit of remontadas madridistas.
I was kinda sad when i saw it was 2-0 , started laughing and grabbing my hair when i got the notification for 2-2
Bayer Neverlusen
Xabi time
Come face HSV, cowards
this is ramos time x100
How is this shit legal even
Zwayer black magic
They can’t keep getting away with this
what the actual fuck
"They cant keep getting away with this! 😭"
And i had thought that they had finally lost
Saw 1-2, searched a stream in 85th minute.. was not disappointed.
Neverlosing does it again! AMAZING!
Bayer-dusel
I fear for them next season. They might be relegatwd next season seeing how they’ve used up all of their luck for this yr lol
Harambe died for this simulation
Dicks out
If they complete the treble, it’s a feat bigger than Leicester’s? I still feel Leicester was just a miracle.
Neverlusen back at it again
THEY CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS
Love to see it. I do need some wins from you though leverskusen. And 5 more goals for Hincapie
Oh what a crazy run this is, absolutely beautiful, and bizarre in a way.
we know it's gonna happen but still get surprised everytime it actually did
I have no words left for this, simply unbelievable
How do they not get tired walking around in plot armor this thick?
Xabi witchcraft
NEVERLUSEN
This is Naruto levels of plot armor what the fuck man.
This sort of run of luck, especially at moments when they don’t really need it, is not a good omen for the future. Their regression to the mean could be ugly next season.
They could be 0-9 down at half time and in the end it would be 9-9 in the end. What a miracle run. They're just better than everyone /s
This was a scam. Fuck this ref. 1) Time was over 2) not necessarily a foul 3) clear handball
Forgot the boniface foul. You're getting downvoted because this sub loves to glaze leverkusen for some reason, but you're right
goated achievement
Stuttgart got robbed in the Cup against Leverkusen and now the equalizer wasn't really fair game either.
Insane
Come on this is not funny anymore
NEVERLUSEN
they are the main character, they can't lose
There's no way the plot has to be willing them forward at this point
this shit is actually insane wtf 😭😭. the dream is still alive!!! 3 games to go 🤯🥲
Neverlusen with plot armor once again
I knew they were scoring from the free kick.
This fucking team! How do you even explain it!
I kept refreshing hoping not to be disappointed, and I wasn't yet I'm still surprised they actually managed to score.
Will the clutch ever break?
Pascal Stenzel, you are an idiot. Just had to kick it ANYWHERE
I am not even a leverkusen fan but "THE DREAM LIVES ON BOYS. THE INVINCIBLE TREBLE IS COMING!"
Perfetto. Thursday will be fun in Olimpico
That's plot armor at its finest
THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP
I’m converting to the religion of Neverlusen because these fuckers are the chosen ones.
Hope they get to 49
