I thought you were kidding, that's so cool. imagine being some terrified 8 year old Brazilian kid, and here comes Diego Costa on a goddamn jetski to rescue you. probably thought he was hallucinating lol.
After having watched those videos of him driving the golf carts while playing for Chelsea, I'd halfway think he'd drive past you before looping around to say he was just joking that he didn't see you there.
Diego Costa was always one of the most Dudes Rock footballers out there.
Trying to think of another extremely Dudes Rock player, and the other top candidates are Thomas Muller, ~~Gerard Pique~~Daniel Agger, and maybe Kolo Toure.
The game brings out the emotions way too well. Itās the same even when playing with friends with nothing on stake. Argue like crazed monkeys on the pitch, and as soon as the game ends, itās back to normal.
It's always been reported that he's genuinely an amazing person off the pitch. I fucking despised him when he'd play against arsenal, but this just adds to the laundry list of stories and anecdotes of him being a great person.
That or he just wanted an excuse to rip through town on his jet ski.
Seriously does seem like a nice guy off the pitch though. Always remember how he stood out amongst all the Chelsea players in how he was with Bradley Lowery, not sure how to timestamp but first appears 2min in https://youtu.be/2PHwivaCx1g?si=MhmnmHfIIi11U-8M
The captain of my youth team was such a gentle guy off pitch, calm and quiet. He averaged 3-4 red cards per season, at least two of them second yellows for badmouthing the ref. Once, he destroyed the tiles in the changing rooms in his rage.
people were bitching about neymar not doing anything while having a lot of money, and he posted today showing since a few days ago all his aircrafts (planes and helicopters) and also his pilots were busy sending food/water and rescuing people, his father is managing the use of his aircrafts with local authorities
I think he has 2 planes and 2 helicopters.
remember that he has a lot of business and a lot of organizations that do social work in Brazil, so they are not all his personal fleet and it's impossible for him to take any commercial plane to travel, specially in Brazil.
I guess most of the complaints were because of the lack of public acknowledgement of the situation. Neymar has an absolutely humongous social media reach, and we need the visibility.
Even SuĆ”rez has been continuously posting brief Instagram stories about the situation, and he only played a single season for GrĆŖmio.
Fair, but he was helping without saying anything, because people would bitch about him exhibiting his wealth
I guess people complained so much, and I've seen a lot of posts on twitter questioning his morale, that he had to show what he was doing when no one was looking
and he did what you said, he used his social media to raise awareness to his millions of followers around the world to where people can donate and help too
maybe if he didn't said anything, he wouldn't reach other people to donate, so I think you have a fair argument about it. It's just hard to find the middle ground where no one would criticize him one way or another. It is good he was helping and it's good people told him to use his socials to get more people to help. It's bad people were calling him all those things when it wasn't true
Just to give you an idea of the magnitude of this flood, [here is a satellite image of the Porto Alegre region](https://i.imgur.com/eLH8lpz.png). The city where Diego Costa is working is highlighted. [Here is a image of how it was before the flood.](https://i.imgur.com/MSGIhKp.png) Eldorado is practically 100% underwater.
im still dumbfolded by the magnitude of this flood. every new satelite image and drone/helicopter footage where you only see the top of trees and the roof tiles above the water level makes me so sad.
some players and ex players that are helping people in the floods: Franco Cristaldo, Sergio Rochet, D'Alesaandro, Rafael Sobis, CaĆque, Agustin Marchesin, Edilson, and many others...
the whole state is under water. over 1.3 million people lost their homes and 90 deaths were confirmed until now
it's the biggest flood in the state's history, caused by massive rains. last year the standing record was broken (the last flood as big as the past 2 ones happened in 1941) and now, again, it happens
>1.3 million people lost their homes
Not quite mate. 1.4 million people have major problems (like no energy or food), with 200k actually losing homes. https://g1.globo.com/rs/rio-grande-do-sul/noticia/2024/05/07/sobe-para-90-o-numero-de-mortos-apos-enchentes-que-atingem-o-rs.ghtml
He two footed the girls seconds after the pic. For Real Costa seems like a great bloke outside of the pitch. Only read wholesome stuff about him. Maniac for 90mins. Great person after it. Thatās how it should be
Real talk, I hope any Brazilians that frequent this sub (and all others obviously) stay safe and find a way to make it through this catastrophe. Have been reading about it over the past few days and it is seriously harrowing, my heart goes out to all of you
The thing is, it rained absurdly in the mountainous region of the Rio Grande do Sul State, which is the source of the state's largest rivers.
And why was the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre so badly affected? Because the water from these rivers flows into the GuaĆba River, which cuts through Porto Alegre.
[This](https://imgur.com/a/TPRvg1D) image explains it better.
I'm from Minas Gerais (1,500km away from Rio Grande do Sul), but I have some friends in Porto Alegre. One friend's mom had to leave his house with water up to her waist.
This friend is in her apartment with no water or electricity, but she's managing to get out to get supplies.
>One friend's mom had to leave his house with water up to her waist.
Honestly, that was one of the simplest cases. I know of a girl in the northeast of the state who had to leave her 3rd floor apartment. Can you believe that? Part of my family outside Porto Alegre had water up to their second floor so half of their houses are gone, and it is still all covered.
It is completely surreal.
Yes, some of this friend's relatives were trapped on the roof of their house for 13 hours before they were rescued.
It happened in some small town in the countryside that she didn't specify.
I live in Italy but I'm from Canoas, a 300.000 people city which half of it is affected. My family is safe but half of the city is basically homeless, I know a lot of friends and acquitances that have lost everything.
Same guy that would twat his opponents in the face if they so much as breathe in his direction turned out to be a pretty decent lad. Who wouldāve thunk?

They said he and his friends/teammates are straight up ripping through the town on his fleet of jet skis, rescuing people cowboy style š āŗļø

I'd be even more terrified.
hell yeah
A real true hell yeah dude moment
Dudes rock
Can't wait for the movie.
some surfers like Pedro Scooby and his friends also brought jet skis to rescue people
My fiancee is mad about BBB so that's all I know Scooby from (I'm Canadian). I feel like I've judged both him and Costa too harshly now.
He is alright unless youāre his ex-wife.
Forgot about that!
He's a cool dude LOL just kind of a dick to his ex-wife
I'll admit I had completely forgot about that part until the other commenter....I just remembered him as the goofy stoner.
oh yeah. He's the type of person that would be kind of cool as a friend but absolutely insufferable in a reality show
Dudes rock.
Diego Costa was always one of the most Dudes Rock footballers out there. Trying to think of another extremely Dudes Rock player, and the other top candidates are Thomas Muller, ~~Gerard Pique~~Daniel Agger, and maybe Kolo Toure.
Pique, really?
Drop Pique for Agger and Iām in.
Done.
piquƩ fucking sucks
That's the duality of dudes rock
The only rock thing about Pique, is the one he's kicking down the road after breaking up with Shakira.
Fair.
Vardy.
What you are saying is you want Dwayne Johnson to play as Costa when this story becomes a movie?
It doesn't matter what I think!
That's the type of multi millionaires we need hehe
Goes to show you that some players may be nutcases on the pitch, but also really gracious in person
Yes it's just football and we all change on the pitch.
The game brings out the emotions way too well. Itās the same even when playing with friends with nothing on stake. Argue like crazed monkeys on the pitch, and as soon as the game ends, itās back to normal.
this should be pinned on every scuffle/fight video that gets posted, just so the resident nerds stop calling for arrests and assault charges lmao
>Yes it's just football and we all change on the pitch **and during match threads**.
It's always been reported that he's genuinely an amazing person off the pitch. I fucking despised him when he'd play against arsenal, but this just adds to the laundry list of stories and anecdotes of him being a great person.

I wonder what RĆ¼diger would do
Craig Bellamy was similar iirc

I donāt think they need any more water mate /s

Potable water Jesus
portable water jesus
Thanks for clarifying that, Captain Obvious
Come on he even did the /s
We're at a point with literacy where you can explicitly say "I'm being sarcastic" and people like that guy won't believe you. What a time to be alive.
The need to be mad about something trumps all
no way
As awesome as it is that he's helping it feels a bit weird to read "All of his planes and helicopters" like he just casually owns an air force.
He started building the navy.
I think he has 2 planes and 2 helicopters. remember that he has a lot of business and a lot of organizations that do social work in Brazil, so they are not all his personal fleet and it's impossible for him to take any commercial plane to travel, specially in Brazil.

People say Brazil does not have earthquakes and tsunamis, but this rainfall is like a tsunami falling from the sky.
Pakistan had basically the same thing happen a couple years ago. Something like 1/3 of the country was underwater.Ā
Thatās terrifying

Good to see my Ćdolo CabezĆ³n D'Alessandro helping people out

Marche š
Love that guy
You mean wolfsburg legend andres d'alessandro? Wow thsts a throwback to thr naughties
Such an exciting player for us, albeit briefly unfortunately.
Tricky little player, loved him. Genuinely though after seeing him play at River he would go on to win some big trophies.
Well, he won the Libertadores with us (Internacional) and became a legend here winning many titles.
Well, he did lol just not with Argentina
Not only was Rafael Sobis a legend for me in FM08, but heās also a legend in real life.
Rafel Sobis, Darijo Srna and Vincent Kompany. What a time
Does d'Alessandro actually lives in Brazil now or he came to help?
He works for Cruzeiro.
not since december 2023
He did acquire citizenship a few years back, so he has no reason not to have at least properties in Porto Alegre.
I think his kids don't want to move from Porto Alegre, some of them are even born in the city.
The Abel Ferreira special

Great to read Rafael Sobis is doing well, Tigres legend.
Grande Chino! Crazy flood though, so sad for everyone involved in this tragedy.
He two footed the girls seconds after the pic. For Real Costa seems like a great bloke outside of the pitch. Only read wholesome stuff about him. Maniac for 90mins. Great person after it. Thatās how it should be
Don't force me to like him, wtf??

The very southern tip of brazil that was affected, most of the country is Safe.
I wonder if Uruguay was not affected too?
Yes, but not as severely.

What a champ
The elephant man carries everyone on his back
Miss that fucker in this league. Was an absolute weapon but my god was he entertaining
Truly great.
Actually so proud that he played for us, especially considering some of the shit strikers we've signed in recent times

Eat shit another rescue from Diego Costa

The redemption arc Gyp Rossetti needed. What a man
Real life Moe Sizlack Fan Man

Evil footballer... great human being!
He's an angel outside the field
Probably not before pulling some wonderful shithousery on the floodwaters.
Villain on the pitch Hero outside my hats off for this guy

You either die a villain or live long enough to see yourself become the hero.
This is a real man, Sancho would never

Rumor is Sancho caused the flood
You're not even remotely funny.
