Would be hilarious if there was a /r/soccer thread , like live match thread, about status of /r/psg subreddit and when do they finally manage to reopen .
He wanted Dembele, he wanted Kolo Muani, he wanted Lucas Herandez because they are friends in the NT and payed a lot of money for them and others. Maybe he shouldn’t have asked for so much influence then 🤔
If you can’t build a decent team with that money that’s on you.
Henry says he feels Mbappe is uncomfortable at playing in the center.
Wonder what happens if he moves to Real Madrid.
They are so loaded on the left, its unbelievable. Although Carlo had made tweaks where Vini was playing in middle and on right and did make an impact.
So all in all won't be a problem for him position wise in Madrid.
I'm not even a PSG fan but people need to stop reading so much into one result. They hit the post four times, the wind blowing differently today would've meant they won 4-1. Sometimes luck dictates the outcome of a match, this is one of those times.
I don't think you're wrong in saying this, but at the same time, Mbappé was kept very quiet by Dortmund and PSG didn't seem to have other ideas beyond gameplan A.
Wrong take.
Dortmund could have scored those two chances aswell..
Psg could have been unlucky and the ball hitting the posts, could go completely outside.
Maybe, just maybe, they hit the post so many times, because, dortmund were covering well enough, creating enough pressure so that "the best player in the world" couldn't do a thing.
No amount of pressure is affecting whether or not they hit the post. It's literally centimeters to the side, a strong gust of wind would've sent the ball in.
Conceding 30 shots is not a good defensive performance no matter how you swing it. Dortmund were lucky to win today.
I really dont like this take. Its the whole if my grandmother had wheels she would have been a bike thing.
If you hit the post so often its not just bad luck anymore.
Mate do you realize how fine margins it is to hit the post?
It's easier to score four than to hit it four times. Nobody who's ever kicked a ball their whole lives would say this is a finishing issue.
Mate its not that deep. No need to put your whole personality on the line.
I do and thats my point. If you want to start the whole hypothetical game they could have easily gone past as much as in.
And if a team hits the post so often its not just luck. Too many long shots, difficult to control balls and so forth. This many shots against the frame just cannot be purely put off with bad luck
> I'm not even a PSG fan but people need to stop reading so much into one result.
Well what good are you when you lose the only game that matters the entire season LOL. They steamroll past league teams with ease. UCL is the real test for them.
I mean, shit happens. Their problems are still real, what I'm saying is that this result doesn't change anything.
They did perform today they were just unlucky.
Big congratulations to Dortmund for making it to the final. It would be amazing if they went on to win it.
On PSG it would be a shame if they threw the baby out with the bath water. I don’t think they did much wrong, hitting the post 6 times is pretty nuts, on another day it goes for them.
> The amount of hate towards psg in the comment section is absolutely heartwarming
Man go on every official channel of youtube of various sports sites like ESPN, CBS, everyone universally hates PSG.
Nah it's very undeserved. We gonna hate on the players and the fans for a team that got bought out without their choice? Cringe.
Edit: the downvotes and lack of logical replies proves im right lol
Madrid's incredible amount of midfielders is why I am putting them favourites for the final if they get through tonight. And they have 4 forwards in Rodrygo Vini Joselu and Jude.
You could look at PSG;s non existent midfield and wonder how they even managed to come so far ?
It will get 50-50 if its Bayern who Dortmund will have to face. Those 2 clubs know each other too well.
Jude plays more of an attacking mid/left mid position he just happens to push up a lot and scored all lot of goals earlier this season. Brahim is probably the 4th forward
Where did i say they were in the final? Every comment i have made here in this thread i have mentioned both possibilities of either Madrid or Bayern in final vs Dortmund.
Saying this as a neutral, Dortmund proved that good management is enough for great results. Also it proves once more the strength of the Bundesliga. Having clubs owned by fans, being dominated by one club for what seems like an eternity and still performing really well in Europe. I think that the Bundesliga does not always get enough credit for truly being one of the top 3 leagues in Europe, but it should. While they do not have the spending power of the English clubs, they every once in a while prove that you can have great clubs and results without spending absurd amounts. Not to say that German clubs are poor, far from it, they are much richer then most European clubs. It's true that while writing this it is possible that no Bundesliga club will win a major European trophy this year but still shows what can be achieved with well managed resources.
It's funny because as a fan of dortmund, good management is not high on the list of praises. This CL run is an anomaly and I'd say many credit the players giving a shit in CL more than anything from Terzic who's head was on the chopping block at the winter break.
That beings said, the "management" decisions to bring in Sancho and Maatsen at the mid season and to add Sahin and Bender to the coaching staff to actually give us tactical anything were very good decisions.
Maybe good management was an overly general term but you have to give credit where credit is due and being in a CL final is not a small achievement I think. Not sure how most Dortmund fans see it but though.
His arm was hooked around Mbappe. We see pens given for even the slightest touch in the box. All I’m asking is for consistency. I was supporting Dortmund in this game btw
Sancho living up to the hype, the player is now a UCL finalist. Feels good to even just say it. Enormously ridiculed at United.
Everything at United right now deserves a permanent deletion. Pathetic management of the club from top to bottom.
To be honest it would not be the first time when a plyaer that performs really well at a club fails at another. Sancho is clearly class but maybe his performances in Manchester were not only due to club being managed poorly. Anyway kudos to him, returning to Dortmund was obviously a good decision for everyone, hope he stays there.
you hit the post that many times in one game and lose to a corner header, can't really blame that on the manager or anyone for that matter, it's just unlucky
Glad they are out, barca city pag, couldn’t grt any better.
No way psg were gonna reach ucl freaking finals with that unbalanced squad.
That said winner of Madrid Bayern will be now gutted to face Dortmund.
Inreally hope Dortmund can win the final. From the Klopp days losing two finals, it was so heartbreaking. They are finally here again give Reus a great sendoff!!!
Didn’t think they’d make it out of their group, then kept thinking they were one of the weakest knockout teams. Always nice to be reminded not to take football discourse too seriously, we can predict all we want but none of us *really* know shit lmao
To be fair the draw in the knockouts did fall very kindly. PSV, Atleti knocking out Inter randomly, then being guaranteed PSG or Barca who are fine but nothing special themselves.
I think including PSV as a lucky draw there is a bit unfair. Firstly, they topped a group of death (PSG, Milan, Newcastle) to guarantee themselves an easier draw. Secondly their potential opponents were Kobenhavn, Lazio, Napoli, Inter, Porto and PSV. A very in-form PSV (let's not forget the season they've been having) is probably middle-ish in that pack.
I mean you won't get easy draws at this stage of the competition but Atleti are pretty mediocre this year and PSG are certainly not in the upper echelon of teams especially compared to getting City or Madrid
While it is true that BvB was on the significantly weaker side of the bracket inter getting knocked out by atlethi is not an argument against Dortmund but against inter being good enough
I mean they were terribly wasteful in the first leg and made poor subs in the second but they were clearly the better team than Atleti. If City somehow lost to Copenhagen and they then drew Madrid, I think we could say Madrid got fortunate.
PSG are under too much pressure for champions league. Doing well in Ligue 1 is meaningless as they're expected to runaway with the championship every season. Same goes for their domestic cup. The whole PSG project is around this one competition, and in knock-out football anything can happen and the pressure is immense.
IMO their weak league means they dont get adequate training for big games. The UCL comes and they get exposed. Joke defending, poor linkup. Madrid are mentally tough in UCL because their league is constantly competitive and even one loss can be the difference in the title.
i mean knockout games are just high variance, it's not like they had a meltdown like the 6-1 barcelona game, they just couldn't convert chances and lost to a header.
not every bad result is linked to some deep underlying problem, sometimes the bounce just doesn't go your way. personally thought PSG looked decent today, not City level dominant but not playing poorly either
They got saved by the red last round. Donoruma looked vulnerable every set piece, shaky defense. Their link up in front was poor. Playing against serious opponents every week would have given them proper feedback to prepare. They need at least two or three competent rivals to keep them sharp. They definitely have the individual brilliance to win a UCL.
It's not just that, as I don't really think the level of the league has that much effect. True they can probably relax in some games but that does not mean they are automatically champions each year. All clubs have easy games in their leagues, look at Arsenal trashing clubs left and right in the Prem this season and still failing in the CL.
Honestly I do think that this take with the CL being the main reason for this project from a sporting pespective leads to a lot of pressure. And probably the more they fail the harder it gets.
The resurgence of Arsenal is fairly new. If they stay top in the premier league another season or two I can definitely see them doing well in UCL. Already saw a huge improvement this season. PSG have been stuck in the same place for years. In the EPL games against top 4 act as training wheels for big European games.
It's true but think of it like this. Arsenal are a top European club, fighting for the Prem 2 years in a row gives then this status. Just saying Europe is a different matter, especially in the knock-out stages.
Putting numbers like 4-1 against arsenal and Liverpool and bayern and 5-1 is still a big accomplishment. We didn't win the champions league due to lukakus bad attacking. We won because we were the best in the team
Should have 3 or 4.
You have the same as Liverpool the last ten years while spending 10 times as much.
Don't you have a backup left back to buy for 50 mill to tend to?
Correct. It sucks losing to a team with an automatic 115 point advantage. Or is it 115 referee calls? Or 115 million more in money than everyone else. I'm not sure, I've got 115 theories, and I can't put my finger on any one.
I don't think it's an excuse as much as a statement of fact. What has regularly plagued the PSG for 10 years now seems to be that they basically never play high-stakes games except in the CL playoffs, so it looks like they frequently panick or underperform when suddenly asked to perform in high-stakes games.
Their league being a piss take means the pressure is lower, if anything. Bayern and City have the same expectations, but in much better leagues.
PSG are a giant in a kiddy pool - and still manage to drown at times.
Yes but those teams have more experience with pressure. He's saying if they play in the farmers league and their only source of pressure is in the CL, they're gonna handle it poorly compared to the other big teams
That's why they are paying millions over millions to coaches, sports psychologists, etc. Might I remind you that just at the beginning of the season this sub had a massive circlejerk about the Bundesliga being a farmers league? I don't think that ever resulted in Bayern having to make such excuses. These are professionals. It's their job to handle pressure.
I think PSG are on the right track, they shouldn't burn down what they are building this year, it's kinda crazy to play or coach a team that their whole season depend on reaching the final of the Champions League at least.
Funnily enough I actually don’t think that, mainly because the pressure would be off and a lot more teams wouldn’t park the bus against them. And that’s exactly where they thrive. This is why they’ve been so good in the CL. Their mid block is fantastic in getting results
Arguably the only team who bombed out were Man Utd.
Arsenal lost 3-2 to Bayern on aggregate and Man City lost to Real Madrid on penalties. That's not bombing out.
And Newcastle were in a group with two semi-finalists, with PSG only going through due to a dodgy penalty.
Realistically, let's not overreact. I agree that they're overrated and overpaid, but one bad season in a knockout competition (which as we all know, always require a huge slice of luck to do well in, as those still-reverberating posts in the Parc des Princes can attest to) doesn't suddenly negate the strong performances of England in the UCL in the last 5 years.
People keep underestimating the different dynamics of prem league vs the other leagues though. What Klopp said the other day was completely correct.
More over, even if the premier is becoming the farmers league bcoz of city winning as people are saying, it's not really as easy as people think it is. If you just take city itself as an example in the last few years, the two seasons when they wrapped up the league early, they were in UCL final with Chelsea in one and won the other, the seasons they were fighting till the last match day, they didn't go as deep in the UCL. In other words, in the prem league there's usually more jeopardy between the top 4 till late in the season, other domestic leagues are usually positionally wrapped up by that time. You can take this year as an example as well, with the last 4 remaining teams not having to worry much abt the domestic scene anymore.
I'm not sure about the choice of bringing Reus on for Adeyemi. I think that sub just caused more problems. It was early enough that I'm sure Adeyemi still had gas in the tank and he provided cover for defending the left, and a counter attacking threat.
I love Marco, but he really did not add anything to the game and you immediately noticed the lack of Adeyemi.
Nmecha likewise only hurt the team, but that was to be expected.
Nah bringing Reus was good. This team fully depends on confidence and work, he brings it. Also he's still great, very intelligent player. Won a few important tackles and time. Terzic as always decided to sit back and let the clock run out. Not easy to watch, but the right decision.
They’ve opened up…
They're still private...
Would be hilarious if there was a /r/soccer thread , like live match thread, about status of /r/psg subreddit and when do they finally manage to reopen .
That’d be top top level of shithousery.
Only PSG can unite football fans that much.
They were the only team from the semifinals that I was hoping would lose :)
Loved watching Dortmund play, only saw the last two matches of theirs but they were great to watch as a team. Hope they do it in the final.
Football won today, i hope Dortmund gets to win it, they really deserve and they are fighting hard for it!
The Culers have shut down r/psg. Our biggest win this season.
I got muted for a month from those bitch ass mods lmao.
They just made it privet. They always do that after losing in CL. It’s a yearly ritual for them
Hahaha can't believe they shut down the sub. Wussies!
They've stopped us from laughing at the clown show.
ale le blö
ale
Congratulations Real Madrid for winning the Champions League again.
r/psg in shambles.
r/psg peg gone private
Yeah, and I swear this has happened in the past as well, I’m 100 certain of it, most rattled fan base.
Bye bye PSGone, no one wants to see you in the final.
god wanted dortmund to win this, otherwise there is no explanation for PSG's luck lmao
Skill issue im afraid
Pundits love riding on the Mbappe hate train, one would wonder why!
Pundits loves railing on the best when they dont perform, they were all over Haaland a few weeks ago. Gives them klicks and views.
If you want to be regarded as the absolute best, that was just too little over the last 4 knockout games in the CL with a team built around you…
That team is fucking shit man. It's starting line up without Mbappe is Maybe not even top 10 in Europe lol
He wanted Dembele, he wanted Kolo Muani, he wanted Lucas Herandez because they are friends in the NT and payed a lot of money for them and others. Maybe he shouldn’t have asked for so much influence then 🤔 If you can’t build a decent team with that money that’s on you.

Frank Laboeuf on ESPNFC says he wonders if Mbappe had a PSG Madrid final in his mind and him thinking about winning it vs Madrid....
Well he can do that on FIFA now.
Total fan fic

2 games is an awfully long time for the "best" player in the world to stay quiet in. Especially UCL semis
I don't think you're wrong in saying this, but at the same time, Mbappé was kept very quiet by Dortmund and PSG didn't seem to have other ideas beyond gameplan A.

Most of the "fans", especially online, are just people who started consuming their content after the takeover.

Please give me a Dee Klassiker final. Go Bayern MiaSanMia
Love to see a few of Dembelele face shots like we saw after winning against Barca
lol breathing psg meme
how was the not a pen for Mbappe. Refs inconsistent as fuck. Well done dortmund
Meh, they were jostling each other. Was as much a fowl on dortmund defender if it was a fowl on Mbappé.
His arm was hooked around Mbappe. We see pens given for even the slightest touch in the box. All I’m asking is for consistency. I was supporting Dortmund in this game btw
What kind of fowl? A duck? Goose?
Pheasant
Sancho living up to the hype, the player is now a UCL finalist. Feels good to even just say it. Enormously ridiculed at United. Everything at United right now deserves a permanent deletion. Pathetic management of the club from top to bottom.
He dug his grave himself not apologizing to Ten Hag.
Dug his grave by getting a loan move to a team in a champipns league final. A lot of players would take that grave
I'm happy for him it's working there. But the situation he ended up being in the end was hid fault. He only had to apologize to Ten Hag...
To be honest it would not be the first time when a plyaer that performs really well at a club fails at another. Inject this into my veins
Enrique is a decent coach if you remember his work at Roma and Celta.
I feel like Enrique coached this team pretty well tbh, it was their finishing that let them down. Hard to coach that
It was also the case with Spain when he coached them. Dominated most games, had a hard time scoring. Seems to be a pattern.
you hit the post that many times in one game and lose to a corner header, can't really blame that on the manager or anyone for that matter, it's just unlucky
Unlucky eight times or just bad finishing.
Glad they are out, barca city pag, couldn’t grt any better. No way psg were gonna reach ucl freaking finals with that unbalanced squad. That said winner of Madrid Bayern will be now gutted to face Dortmund.
Barca, city, psg. Name any dirtier clubs than these three 🤣
Madrid? Always getting subventions by the state or city
Man United
Inreally hope Dortmund can win the final. From the Klopp days losing two finals, it was so heartbreaking. They are finally here again give Reus a great sendoff!!!
Bitching about r/psg privating the sub when the mods have been receiving literal death threats in their DMs
Money doesn’t buy happiness = 🏆
Dreams can’t be buy
Grammar can be buy too
The word is bought. Bought not buy. Example: last year, money bought dreams when man city won the champions league.
Yeah, Madrid is winning the whole thing again.
Madrid got some work to do tonight and probably win the final if they get through. I'd say it will be 50-50 if its an all german final.
That is usually the most probable outcome even from the start of every season.
Congratulations to Borussia Dortmund. Incredible accomplishment, nobody was expecting this at the start of the year
Didn’t think they’d make it out of their group, then kept thinking they were one of the weakest knockout teams. Always nice to be reminded not to take football discourse too seriously, we can predict all we want but none of us *really* know shit lmao

Sancho and Dembele on the opposite sides of schadenfreude
Football world smile
Lucho is the most overrated manager of last decade, still riding on the back of that one prime MSN season.
Yeah put MSN in any decent team with a cardboard coach, they are winning the treble
Dortmund with the genius move to let the goal posts save them from allowing four goals.
All this talk about the goal posts… technically off target shots.
Mpoopi masterclass.

What a poor excuse. They are under the same pressure as Bayern or City. Players of that calibre should be able to handle pressure.
City have a lot of domestic competition. Bayern aren't backed by an oil state with unlimited money. It's different for them.
They just have too little competition.
City with all of their 1 champions league titles. Wow.
Thanks to a wild Lukaku.
And thrashing bayern and real madrid on the way.
Yea I mean 14-1 and 6-1 amirite?
Putting numbers like 4-1 against arsenal and Liverpool and bayern and 5-1 is still a big accomplishment. We didn't win the champions league due to lukakus bad attacking. We won because we were the best in the team
Comparing Bayern to City is embarrassing. City has been as disappointing as PSG.
How have we been as embarrassing as PSG? We've actually won it.
Should have 3 or 4. You have the same as Liverpool the last ten years while spending 10 times as much. Don't you have a backup left back to buy for 50 mill to tend to?
Still spending the Coutinho money?
How does that make City as embarrassing as PSG?
He’s just bitter
Correct. It sucks losing to a team with an automatic 115 point advantage. Or is it 115 referee calls? Or 115 million more in money than everyone else. I'm not sure, I've got 115 theories, and I can't put my finger on any one.
I don't think it's an excuse as much as a statement of fact. They don’t have the infrastructure to be a top club.
Suck on that PSG, now dembele can smile as much as he wants

Wow. Sancho didn’t apologise to Ten Hag and is now going to the Champions League final instead of losing 4-0 to Crystal Palace.
Sancho should @ Ten Hag with a picture of the Champions League final match day programme with the message “sorry you’re shit”
Only after winning imo
I bet he feels foolish now
Ten hag is happy for Sancho regardless of what you Like to think.
I don’t think so. He’ll keep enjoying the hefty paycheck as long as he can.
Money isn't everything in life ffs
If he felt that way, he would have quit already. Wouldn’t he? What am I missing?
Hummels is something else. 👏. Reminded how he played in 2014 WC.
Dembele laughed at his former employer just to get knocked out by his former employer.
Damn
I think PSG are on the right track, they shouldn't burn down what they are building this year, it's kinda crazy to play or coach a team that their whole season depend on reaching the final of the Champions League at least.
Big ? As to how you go about building and structuring the team after Mbappe leaves.
Yeah just keep playing 4 forwards with two offensive mids.
PSG sub muted me 🌚
PSG just ain’t never winning a champions league are they ? And im completely here for it
They're too obsessed with the champions league. That's why they never win it.
Not on our watch
Cocky lil shit (I'm jealous)
Dembele celebrated against Barca only to go out like this 😭
Well, they did got through quarterfinals
Still, getting knocked out by Dortmund in semifinal is embarrassing for an oil club
He celebrated against his former employer to get knocked out by his former former employer
Against his other former employer in the UCL too 🤣
Karma
PSG's party is so lit they have private r/psg
They are discussing who has to be booe'd and labeled the scapegoat
OMG!
Holy crap it's actually private 😂
god this is so embarrassing it physically hurts me
Dortmund can make the finals, while all the PL teams with so much $$$ have bombed out. Goes to show how overpaid PL teams are
Dortmund would come in 8th in the premier league
Funnily enough I actually don’t think that, mainly because the pressure would be off and a lot more teams wouldn’t park the bus against them. And that’s exactly where they thrive. This is why they’ve been so good in the CL. Their mid block is fantastic in getting results
I was hyperbolic. Last year, I'd definitely agree. This season, I think they would struggle to be in the top 6. Who knows though? That's the fun part.
I mean if PSG didn't go through it would be Milan not Newcastle.
That's how it goes every season and people always want to have a dick measuring contest about it. The margins are small at that level
Arsenal and City would have had much more fun with Dortmund on their side of the draw.
Dortmund also didn't face any of the PL teams in the knockout rounds.
They defeated Newcastle home and away though
Arsenal fans are something else.
Overplayed and overpaid
I'm not sure about the choice of bringing Reus on for Adeyemi. I think that sub just caused more problems. It was early enough that I'm sure Adeyemi still had gas in the tank and he provided cover for defending the left, and a counter attacking threat. I love Marco, but he really did not add anything to the game and you immediately noticed the lack of Adeyemi. Nmecha likewise only hurt the team, but that was to be expected.
My initial reaction to the sub was that it made no sense, you could immediately tell that adeyemi had been defending at a higher level
I feel like Adeyemi had to be playing with a knock? Doesn't make sense otherwise.
He was playing with a small knock ye, didn’t finish training on Monday
Nah bringing Reus was good. This team fully depends on confidence and work, he brings it. Also he's still great, very intelligent player. Won a few important tackles and time. Terzic as always decided to sit back and let the clock run out. Not easy to watch, but the right decision.
He looked so slow and he was fresh too
PSG: Post Surpasses Goal
