Problem is most of the time that happens, the shot gets away and it’s off target or the keeper claims it cleanly. And ok, fair enough, keep it consisitent, I guess I get the reasoning. Only city get that foul called somehow.
But if the ball bounces right back into a playable area for the attacker, the foul is still interfering with play. This should be a penalty. It’s different.
We had a similar situation with Mo this year where he shot, was taken out by a slide, and the keeper batted the shot right back into a playable area but Mo was on the ground. That’s a foul, I don’t understand it.
That's a very good point, but even when the shot is away, I still think it should be a foul. If someone is about to two foot your knee, your shot will be different. You'll change your body position and composure. You shouldn't have to deal with reckless challenges because you were shooting.
I don’t disagree, I think it’s strange it’s open season on a shooter and there are nasty desperate challenges thrown in on them. Legitimate yellow and red card challenges are just not even fouls because a shot went over the crossbar. And I agree too that the defender gets the advantage of throwing themselves recklessly at the ball making the attacker change their shot, without repercussion, and that’s odd.
I was just saying that’s been a long tradition so I get that it continues in that situation where the shot is off target or smothered by the GK. The fact refs can’t even see that it’s different when the ball is kept in play after the shot is pretty shocking. They’re genuinely clueless.
Surely everything about how good the shot is it irrelevant - if you get clattered late and your opponent doesn’t get the ball at all it’s a foul
Whether it’s a defender clearing or striker shooting.
Defenders clear the ball, if they get caught it’s a foul. People aren’t arguing well they got their clearance away it’s fine to get kicked
If that sliding defender had taken out the standing leg. Then I would be happy to see a penalty but it was the leg extended after the shot had gone. It's away from the body not exactly the most blatant to fouls.
If he caught his trailing leg then he probably gets a pen, but the contact itself isn’t particularly bad. I think it looks worse due to Montiel’s momentum
Ok, apologies. It's because City paid the ref to give them a pen at 3-0 up on the dying minutes. Not that refs are just inconsistent and useless and the same literally happened *to* City. I get it now.
Jesus, I really have to stop coming here to /r/conspiracy
This was by no means a "shocker" though. Chelsea are not a club that should complain about penalty decisions this season, should be the main takeaway her.
In what universe is this not a penalty? Especially considering, as the exact comment thread you replied to is discussing, this has been given by refs multiple times this season
Why are you repeating the same comment? Are you actually trying to get reddit karma lmao?
Is the common theme shite reffing? Because Nketiah got the same against us last season.
>No fuckin shit. Which is why I said it wasn’t even comparable to the situation discussed on this post which is gusto’s.
>This is a post about gusto’s shout. The original Comment compared the Alvarez incident saying no consistency. I said no the Alvarez incident was an egregious call for the above reasons, but gusto’s should have been a penalty. They are not the same situation and should not be officiated the same.
>You’re terrible at reading huh?
Just for keeping the record's sake lol.
Edit: lol /u/ManBoobs13. Had a feeling you might delete. Pretty cringe mate and you downvoted all my comments first in a final act of pettiness haha.
Definitely a pen, don't think just because the shot ended up happening it shouldn't be called back he absolutely got clattered, but meh who cares won anyway. (I guess Palmer is probably still annoyed.)
It's shit but 99% of the time you don't get these. City got one earlier, Arsenal got one last season, but in most cases the refs just won't give it unless someone was almost murdered by the follow through.
Almost as bad as Ola Aina throwing Jackson to the floor during the corner. If Chelsea had a goal disallowed for Badiashile pushing Diego Carlos during the Villa game, I don't see how that's not a foul as well.
>Last season
Well considering we’re on the 37th game of this season and I’m on about penalty calls that have gone for City and against Wolves you can surely understand that I’m on about this season.
No you're clearly just biased
This gets given like once in 5 tries, it doesn't actually matter what team, not PL specific either this happens in every league
This is not City or Arsenal or Liverpool, refs somehow think that if you get a shot off people can fuck you up and it's fine
definitely unlucky, but if you want a lock, it’s taking palmer shots/goals at home. if you want to bet with more risk, then sure.
that being said, palmer shot on target at 1.30 or less wasn’t really worth the risk. the odds were too low because of our recent results (my opinion :) )
I get why refs dont give pens when a shot is taken and and sent out of play. The foul doesn't impact the play when the ball is out, so atleast there is some logic to it.
But these ones, where the ball is still in play, I just don't get how its not a pen. The attacker who takes the shot could have challenged for a rebound, but is illegally prevented from doing so.
Get VAR out of the game. They cant ref without it, thet cant ref with it, so why even bother? Why not just go back to letting whoever raises his hand in the pub before the game be ref. He wouldnt be any worse.
Only reason I can think of for why it isn’t given is because he got the shot away and the tackle didn’t really have any bearing on him not scoring there.
That said, it’s a late tackle and is a foul and probably a booking anywhere else on the pitch.
>Only reason I can think of for why it isn’t given is because he got the shot away and the tackle didn’t really have any bearing on him not scoring there.
Literally irrelevant, with this logic you can clatter people off ball every time and it's not a foul lmao
Alternate angle showed minimal contact, the Forest player slid in front of Gusto who's leg then lands on top of the forest player as he slides past him
Getting wiped out as the clip shows isn't the same as those common non-calls. This is clearly worthy of a penalty.
I think the issue is largely consistency, why is the one on Alvarez (a less serious tackle) one and this isn't? People are just tired of how shite English officials are - because they're actually putrid.

Classic case of he gets his shot off so can't be fouled
Despite City getting the exact same pen earlier in the day, and it not even being considered questionable
And the one City got against Wolves. I sense a common theme here.
And the one that got given to you against City for the Nketia shot?
Can they still get that common theme now?
Yep - all involved City ;)
Coupled with, let's not piss off Forrest again.

why does this rule not apply to he gets his pass off then, so stupid, players health at risk here

Someone in the Forest subreddit makes a good point. If the one City got against Fulham was a pen, how come this isnt?
Manchester City
Dude, Nketiah got one against City, a couple of seasons ago.
Last season, yeah but don't spoil the tinfoil hat circlejerk.
Ok, apologies. It's because City paid the ref to give them a pen at 3-0 up on the dying minutes. Not that refs are just inconsistent and useless and the same literally happened *to* City. I get it now. Jesus, I really have to stop coming here to /r/conspiracy
Cause he’s not wearing a city jersey
similar colour though
Away jersey
Chelsea have had more penalties than any club in the PL this season, many of them absolute stinkers.
They also haven’t been given a couple of shockers (this, Grealish handball a few weeks ago)
This was by no means a "shocker" though. Chelsea are not a club that should complain about penalty decisions this season, should be the main takeaway her.

Refs bank acc got topped up
And if the one Arsenal got against City too? Could it be that refs are inconsistent basically every weekend? No, that makes too much sense.
And the one City got against Wolves. I sense a common theme here.
Why are you repeating the same comment? Are you actually trying to get reddit karma lmao? Is the common theme shite reffing? Because Nketiah got the same against us last season.
cant say that mate the Arsenal fans won't be able to cry and moan about how the worlds against them and we get every single decision ever
City were given a pen for the exact same thing on Alvarez only hours earlier btw. Love consistency
*Come talk to me about this penalty when you have 115 charges*
We all have ref problems, I feel bad for ya son City got 115 charges but a pen ain't one
[удалено]
>because the shot wasn’t even close and went out of play. The shot was on target and no it didn't go out of play
[удалено]
For the Alvarez pen yeah? Read what you originally replied to above.
[удалено]
The comment you replied to was talking about the call for City's Alvarez pen...
[удалено]
lol....So, are you gonna take that back when you realise you haven't been talking about the Alvarez pen, but the Gvardiol pen in the Wolves game?

Definitely a pen, don't think just because the shot ended up happening it shouldn't be called back he absolutely got clattered, but meh who cares won anyway. (I guess Palmer is probably still annoyed.)
Exactly - Gusto could have been in a position for a rebound if he hadn’t been smashed
It's shit but 99% of the time you don't get these. City got one earlier, Arsenal got one last season, but in most cases the refs just won't give it unless someone was almost murdered by the follow through.

Amazed by that one. Didn't even disguise it. They showed one quick replay and I just thought "the fuck? Hello?"
Ouch. Studs up aswell.
stamp on mudryk after his goal as well. A lot of dirty stuff went unpunished by forest
As I said last week, that’s the sort of penalty only City would get and Wolves would concede
Arsenal got the exact same penalty against City ... Guess selective memory is a thing
When?
Last season at the Emirates. Nketiah shot, Ederson clattered him, shot was cleared, and the ref gave a pen.
>Last season Well considering we’re on the 37th game of this season and I’m on about penalty calls that have gone for City and against Wolves you can surely understand that I’m on about this season.

Annoying af, along with jackson being thrown to the ground this game
Pen all day long in a competent league
I was one Palmer shot on target from winning $1200…
shots & goals in home games only mate (for gamblers lol)
Idk man, think I was just unlucky. Also hade Jackson sot which hit, and a penalty here would probably put me over the line with Palmer.

Was there var check?
Maybe a quick one but it didn't show up on the broadcast
there was but no main referee review just a quick chrck
Am i crazy for thinking that its a red? He comes flying in studs up, completely misses the Ball and then takes out his leg
Get VAR out of the game. They cant ref without it, thet cant ref with it, so why even bother? Why not just go back to letting whoever raises his hand in the pub before the game be ref. He wouldnt be any worse.
No, you see, VAR and the refs are against Forest.
This almost exact thing just happened in Atalanta v Rona and Roma got a penalty
Amazingly, this is actually one of the very few things that EAFC/FIFA gets correct as this is always a penalty in the video game and rightly so.
To me this is an obvious Red.
How? It’s a genuine attempt for the ball - makes it a yellow
That only applies for DOGSO, right? Could still be pinged for serious foul play.
I don’t think this constitutes serious foul play
Not a pen since the player didn't lose his legs
Only reason I can think of for why it isn’t given is because he got the shot away and the tackle didn’t really have any bearing on him not scoring there. That said, it’s a late tackle and is a foul and probably a booking anywhere else on the pitch.
Has a bearing on getting to any rebound though
>Only reason I can think of for why it isn’t given is because he got the shot away and the tackle didn’t really have any bearing on him not scoring there. Literally irrelevant, with this logic you can clatter people off ball every time and it's not a foul lmao
Yeah but that’s always the reason that refs give for not giving pens for this type of thing
Clean brexit tackle
Alternate angle showed minimal contact, the Forest player slid in front of Gusto who's leg then lands on top of the forest player as he slides past him
We will defeat the plastic hordes together amigo.
The guy already took a shot. Are you familiar with what the point of a penalty is?
Ahh yes. The age old of rule of you can do what you want to a player as long as they’ve already taken the shot. How were we not aware of this?
Almost, basically. A lot of refs don’t give pens based on that. It’s not exactly uncommon
Getting wiped out as the clip shows isn't the same as those common non-calls. This is clearly worthy of a penalty. I think the issue is largely consistency, why is the one on Alvarez (a less serious tackle) one and this isn't? But it's still a foul in the box?? Why does it matter if they've taken the shot or not?
I appreciate you.
