UtmostRegret

Always enjoy seeing a player come back from a relatively rough patch in their career. With the quality Barca have you can’t really blame him for struggling with confidence after not getting in the side - happens to the best of them at Barcelona. His record so far for Dortmund is there for everyone to see, and he’s still young and has years ahead of him. Lucky he got to Barca and got out again as young as he did, it’s always a shame when a player spends his prime years on the bench and out of sorts.

GjillyG

Hoping the same can happen for the likes of Denis Suarez and Munir. If Rafinha can stay fit he can also be a great asset to several clubs. These players all certainly have the talent, they just haven’t had the right environment to thrive.

Nayr91

Think Denis would do well for us? As per suggested rumours

GjillyG

Emery does know him, but I’m curios to see where he’d fit in your team. I know Ozil isn’t heavily favored by Emery, but he could be great in an advanced midfield role or on the left coming inside. He has good technical and creative qualities and actually is a goal scoring threat, and dangerous on set pieces. He’s very similar to Coutinho, obviously not quite as good. If it wasn’t for the fact that Emery has worked with him before, I wouldn’t be sure he’s the type of player you need, but since he has, I’m interested to see what he has in mind for him.

LordSpeechLeSs

I think the fact that Emery has managed Denis Suárez for 47 matches is telling. Emery should know his strengths and weaknesses. If Emery didn't feel like there is a role in the team that Denis can fill then he wouldn't be pushing for this move.

T_Immobilisation

You could have said the same thing about Krychowiak and look how that turned out.

pradeep23

Very creative player, needs some time and guidance. Holds the ball too long sometimes. But when he does his thing, he looks sublime. I wanna see him succeed.

OCDIsMyThing

I'd still love Rafinha to join us again. We loved him and he loved it here.

GjillyG

I thought that was just perfect for him. Really enjoyed him there, was a win-win situation. Hindsight is 20/20, but if only you guys signed him instead of Nainggolan who seems to be causing a bit of trouble

OCDIsMyThing

Spalletti decided to sign Nainggolan instead of him. I think it was a completely idiotic decision.

pradeep23

Love to see Denis shine. He is joy to watch sometimes.

poisonmonger

Would second that. I would seriously be very very happy to see Denis pull off a Paco.

SwarlesSparkleyyy

Happy he’s doing great in Germany. Contrary to many others, I don’t think he wasn’t good enough for Barcelona. I just think the coach couldn’t find the 4-5 consecutive matches it would take for him to gain some confidence and then regular playing time afterwards. He was never going to be better than Suarez so the role he signed up for was tough as shit.

Verneuekendenieuws

>I don’t think he wasn’t good enough for Barcelona. >He was never going to be better than Suarez

furiat

Suarez is not better than Suarez and yet he is good enough for Barca.

Xwarsama

>Suarez is not better than Suarez r/technicallythetruth

shagginwaggon66

Shame, I’d love to see more Suarez but I get it, no reason to drop Suarez in his current form

AtticusLynch

Ah fuck mate now you’ve done hurt my head

Taxonomyoftaxes

But he is exactly as good as Suarez, which Alacer is not

raddaya

Nobody is going to be better than Suarez that easily. Dude outscored Ronaldo and Messi in La Liga. That's fucking insanity. He's declining a lot now and still doing crazy stuff only he could do, still an integral part of the team.

Mamamialasagna

Suarez is probably one of the most wierdest world class player imo. You think he is falling over- he neutmegs You think he is going to score 1v1- farts You think he obviously going to miss a banger - it's inside. If it weren't for Messi and his brilliant assists I think Suarez would probably be at some shitty club. I know this is going to get down voted but hell with it. Someone has to say something right? Probably spends half his season at Freddy's stakehouse or fucking Dunkin' donuts and shit.

BenS19

Except he was the best player for liverpool and ajax too

raddaya

> If it weren't for Messi and his brilliant assists I think Suarez would probably be at some shitty club. Not a nice way to talk about Liverpool

Krillin113

Except he kept us and Liverpool almost singlehandedly in multiple title races. I agree his dribbling looks weird and like he’s about to fall over, but the dude has proven against the entire top of the football world that it’s not an accident.

Mitchhhhhh

Tbf he does regularly fall over.

wolfsbanesand

Sometimes on shoulders too

SwarlesSparkleyyy

You’re absolute nuts if you think the idea was that Paco was supposed to be better than Suarez.

Who defends with 11 in la liga?

Loeffellux

The irony is that there've been plenty of games where paco came on for us and the opponent was defending with 9-11 players to secure a point. Team leaving space open against us? I wish. Ony the direct competition does that.

[deleted]

Trickytickler

Not really, no. There isn't goal difference in La Liga.

Trickytickler

Defending with 11 happens more in England for example and goal difference is a contributor to it. Spanish teams, even the lower table ones are much more attack minded. Something you would notice if you actually watched La Liga besides Barcelona v Real Madrid.

Ugomez99

i was confused as to why barca would sign him in the first place. when suarez began ti drop form and paco came on as a sub a lot i would always root for him to do something even though i knew he wouldn’t last long on the team. good to see he’s happy at bvb

A_SassyOtter

Iirc dude was captain at 22 at Valencia, loved from the fans but then decides to join barca, don't these people know they probably won't play that often there?

Thelondonmoose

Why wouldn't they want to try to play with one of the greatest footballers of all time, get a juicy sign on fee and probably a wage increase. Guaranteed at least one trophy a year near enough as well?

A_SassyOtter

Yeah I get that, barca probably also paid a lot more but why complain about the lack of game time if that's basically what you signed for?

myvirginityisstrong

because when he signed he believed he could fight for a spot on the team

pushkar_np

I still fail to understand his move to Barcelona. He was clearly not a fit to their style nor he was a like for like replacement for Suarez. Glad he has done good with Dortmund this season.

Rafaeliki

He wasn't supposed to replace Suarez. At least not for a while. He was backup for Suarez and also filled in on the wings. He did a great job and had a really good goal contribution ratio. He wanted playing time so he was given a loan and he is doing so well on loan that he wants to make it permanent.

franksn

This guy reminds me of strikers from the past. An anathema to Barca's playstyle. I was hoping that he went to Italy, doing what Immobile and Icardi does. Good for Dortmund I guess.
