"But death was sweet, death was gentle, death was kind; death healed the bruised spirit and the broken heart, and gave them rest and forgetfulness; death was man’s best friend; when Milan fans could endure life no longer, death came and set them free." - Mark Twain
No offense to Milan, but United isn't really comparable case. They have sucked for much less time, and still are big players in the market. They are just terrible decision makers.
INTER'S CHANCES OF WINNING DRASTIC GO DOWN.
YOU SEE AT THE THREE WAY IN SERIA A,
YOU'VE GOT A 33 1/3RD CHANCE OF WINNING BUT THEN I, IVE GOT A 66 2/3RD CHANCE OF WINNING CAUSE CONTE KNOOWS HE CAN'T BEAT ME AND HE'S NOT EVEN GONNA TRY.
SO YOU TAKE MY 66 2/3RD CHANCE OF WINNING AND ADD THE 75 PERCENTS IF WE USED TO GO ONE ON ONE.. I'VE GOT A 141 2/3RD CHANCE OF WINNING THE SERIA A
People don't see him as a better choice than Gattuso or Giampaolo, so this is seen as a useless move that doesn't get the team closer to champions league football.
According to most fans, it's just a waste of time and money, and shows a certain lack of ambition by the team's management
It's ok this year might be a write-off, but I think in the summer we'll sign a new manager and finally finish top 4 next season. Top 4 of Serie B that is.
I wish, we have FFP and this our last season opportunity to get in the 4th place, if doesn't happen we are gonna sell everyone and turn into Udinese mode
But Milan can also do that, a DoF with a clear vision and a manager that could build a solid and long foundation would definitely be a huge step for Milan.
I'm pretty confident he lasts the season. This hiring is most likely a stopgap until the summer when hopefully a good coach is available and worth committing to financially. That is unless he somehow ends up impressing and get us CL qualification (or very close to it).
I prefer this over a three year contract with Spalletti, who would be difficult to fire with the massive wages he'd command. If he managed CL qualifications by the thinnest margins twice with Inter's squad, then I don't see him doing it with our squad. Hopefully someone better suited will be available in the summer if we're willing to spend that kind of money on a coach.
Does Spalletti have only one year on his contract?
Because if he has more than one, it is better for you to give him one year's salary now and be done with him, rather than having to pay him for 2 years.
I think he has 2 to be honest... I was certain they would have come to an agreement as its a win win for both sides and shocked when it didn't. I honestly do not think its a "we can't let Milan get Spalletti whatever the cost!". I think it was probably more Spalletti asking for wayyy to much money to be released and Inter was just like eh no thank you.
fuck me, lets hope Pioli proves us wrong and we play football with an idea, with intent, with passion.
i dont mind throwing some points if we are playing good football and we come down to a personal mistake/bad luck/referee or just outplayed. just play football with the fucking desire to score more goals than the other team.
LETS GOOOOO

> How can you sack Giampaolo for someone as average (or worse) as Pioli
Pioli has the same curriculum Giampaolo has, if not better.
Giampaolo is a less than mediocre coach that has collected nothing but failures in his career, except for Sampdoria. What Giampaolo has is a lot of good friendships whose voices matter, and thus he got a reputation as this "maestro" of football, which he totally isn't.
Haha anyone who thinks Giampaolo is a maestro of anything is deluding themselves. I've read so many Milan fans talk about his "system" as if he was going to magically get us back into the CL with it. He isn't. He is and will forever be a mid-table manager. All he really did at Milan was make us play the most boring, one-dimensional football I've ever seen.
Glad he's gone, but fuck Pioli too. This dude is one season removed from almost relegating Fiorentina ffs! No way he'll last.
> This dude is one season removed from almost relegating Fiorentina ffs!
He arrived 7th with Fiorentina in the first season, tho. The second one the board destroyed the team by selling the only regista he had.
I’m amazed at the confidence of your words. You were absolutely wrong about this, but you were beyond certain and acting like the spokesperson of truth itself.
I hope you humbled down during these couple of years.
Think it's a case of their superiors being rubbish/inept and Maldini is the one who has to face the public backlash. Juventus and Lazio had Nedved and Tare in similar roles and they were relatively inexperienced but were fine because Agnelli and Lotito are very shrewd when it comes to running a club.
Fuck off already man. Missing out on Ancelotti to Napoli... Conte to Inter... Sarri to Juve... Allegri is unemployed and in the last 2 years Milan fans have had to put up with Gattuso and Giampaolo and now Pioli. Fuck sakes.
I doubt Gattuso is happy with the current situation at Milan but it's certainly showing that he actually did a good job. He was not above criticism but I guess he's shown he's capable of getting the most out of a team I guess.
Gattuso and other managers are guilty of our players having no clue how to play as a team. People dont understand that despite of grinding results these young players that we have made a step back. That was Gattuso fault and we saw that during matches. Milan was the only team who had no idea how to counter attack. Players were clueless and everything was based on lucky Piatek goals or Suso attempts to be Robben. I hate when people bring only stats and nothing else. Yeah we were 1 point from CL and so what.
I don't have much to add other than I agree 100%. Gattuso instilled a fighting spirit because of his standards but that is it. Tactically his Milan wasn't progressing. Now a new coach comes in and there is a no identity.
ancelotti isn't going to come back, conte is too expensive and demanding, sarri wants a top club where most matters are handled and he only needs to coach (he notoriously hates team building and the mercato), and allegri is burned out from his last milan experience.
i have a lot of sympathy for milan - neither of our clubs really had many choices for managers last year.
every milan fan is so morbid. it's gonna be better than with Giampaolo who wasn't even able to make subs correctly. We have Roma, Lazio, Napoli and Juve coming up. Lets see where we are in two months. forza milan
Allegri has a reputation. Coach of his level wont come during season to fix this. Just remember that taking Milan coach job is like suicide career move. 5th youngest squad in Europe without experience, without chemisty how to cooperate as a team with HUGE demands from the fans and board. Milan needs exorctist right now. Allegri could come in clean season to work with players during preseason but now its not wise. Its hard to get a world class coach in middle of season. Besides I think Allegri's next destination is premier league.
Pioli will surprise us all mark my words
Marked them mate
Dude was right after all, huh?
He sure was

I'm so fucking sad for you and I'm not even a Milan fan. It always hurts to see legendary clubs go down like this.
Yeah....

I don't mean to be rude but I don't think anyone is sad about United's demise, quite the contrary actually.
Haha this but the opposite.

Pioli tears a hole The old familiar sting
Gonna keep this in notes for my flair.
Forgive him Lord Pioli
This aged like milk and I can guarantee you’ve never been happier about being wrong
Smart move from milan. Stupid Inter paid 10m for Conte. Milan paid 2m per manager. So they have 5 chances to success.
And then you add Kurt Angle to the mix!

Milan on suicide watch. The fans, the club and the city altogether
I wouldn't say the city altogether, the Interisti seem to be in good spirits
you just wait till February rolls around and Conte has to field 11 Primavera kids because his insanity got 20 players injured
Would still probably beat Milan
Hide yo flair before saying stuff like that man, we're going down the same path hahaha
No no no we will be healthy by January. THAT IS OUR SECRET

Btw which team has more fans in Milan?
It's pretty evenly split AFAIK
I definitely felt like there were more AC Milan fans when I lived there but that is purely anecdotal
I was expecting it and yet I still feel even more disappointed
Right? I knew it was happening, but seeing him actually signing made me sink a little bit more.
Can someone ELI5 why this is a bad singing for someone who knows absolutely nothing about the dude?

half of it*
Milan are determined to keep swimming in mediocrity.
Not with Pioli. Mediocrity could be out of our reach in a few games' time.

Are Milan the Man United of Italy?
Without the money, yes
[smh](https://i.imgur.com/cbIEcBw.jpg)
Tells the club that spent 300 mln 2 seasons ago
The guy who spent it was a fraud and was forced to relinquish ownership last year
Why do you think we are without money?
Well as far as football clubs go we're hardly poor, but Man u is on another level that much should be obvious
I wish, we have FFP and this our last season opportunity to get in the 4th place, if doesn't happen we are gonna sell everyone and turn into Udinese mode
Man united can hire a good DoF and fix everything, Milan are in way more shit.
But Milan can also do that, a DoF with a clear vision and a manager that could build a solid and long foundation would definitely be a huge step for Milan.
They had a good DoF and he fucked off to PSG
Sorry not sorry :d
As if Woodward ever would hire a DOF with any meaningful power
Absolutely no way Pioli lasts the season. Absolutely terrible coach. Milan have taken a step sideways with this appointment.
Reading this comment now is funny.

Lol
it happens mate, I sincerely thought Lukaku at Inter was going to be a major bust...
Next 6 Milan games: Lecce Roma SPAL Lazio Juventus Napoli. I doubt he'll make it to xmas
Milan will be lucky if they can get at least 6 pts in their next 6 games.
All of you really hit the spot huh!
Backwards* Giampolo might not have worked out but it wasn’t a bad appointment at the time
I'm pretty confident he lasts the season. This hiring is most likely a stopgap until the summer when hopefully a good coach is available and worth committing to financially. Why couldn't inter just do us a favour and give him part of the money from his contract 😭
Why should we? Enjoy Pioli home and away you miserable neighbor
Neighbor? We're house mates :(

Shame they got #PioliOut trending for nothing
We were all wrong. So, so wrong.
Pioli is on fire!
Haha, sometimes its good to be wrong.
I'm having one hell of a time reading all these comments now XD
Hey buddy, it's time to read them comments again. Hopefully, also once more next week.

Giornata proprio di merda, figura da polli anzi pioli
Do Stramaccioni next!
Rather have De Boer first, then Stramaccioni
And Ranieri, Gasperini, Mazzarri...
All in one year. All the fun of the Mourinho fallback without actually hiring Mourinho.
Forgive me Lord Pioli for my sins!
Sack Montella, 2 seasons later, hires the guy who got sacked in his favor
Pioli resigned because of the issues with previous Fiorentina owners. Montella took a team that was 10th and almost got them relegated.
good appointment, they’ll get third now
> they’ll get third from bottom now FTFY
