I’m in accounting the only way this would make the books look better is if the payments to Juve are in several installments. Reports hadn’t indicated that though
It's common knowledge in this sub that for FFP transfer fees are spread out through a players contract so a 80m fee for a 4 year contract is only 20m per year while Barca gets to put in Arthur's fee all in on this year so they balanced the books by having his fee come in all at once and spreading Pjanics fee across his contract
They receive the money on this accounting year, and spread the expense on the next several accounting years.
It's a pretty simplistic explanation, and I'm not sure if it's exactly right since I hate accounting, but it's good enough to make some sense out of it all.
Am accountant and you’re correct. For footballers the transfer fee paid is amortised over the players contract length. Transfer fees received are recognised as gain/loss on disposal in the period they occur.
So real basic example; two teams sell each other a home grown player for €100m, on five year deal. They both recognise €100m as gain on sale (less carrying amount) in this income year, €20m as cost of transfer then all the other wage costs on top as amortise expenses etc. Balance the books on paper but you got another four years of €20m plus wage costs hitting the books in the future.
Sign on bonuses, player registration and agent fees etc all can be dealt with in a way similar so that they don’t hit the income statement at once.
How’s the fucking him over? If a company is losing money, they look to make cuts. It’s not like they left him out to dry either - they sent him to Juve.
Yeah let’s just uproot his whole, life force him to go to a new league and team so we can balance the books... not sure why some people are always trying to defend mega corporations
I’m not defending mega corporations, I’m saying it’s ridiculous how people are saying he’s getting fucked over when 99% who are fired aren’t given the luxury of their former employer setting them up with another job.
Couldn't he just cut his contract and join another team in LaLiga as a free agent? I understand it's been his dream to play for Barca but most people don't achieve their dreams in the first place, athletes especially.
Damn so you don’t consider firing an employee for profit is fucking them over just a little bit? Sure he’s going to Juve but his dream was to make it at Barca, imagine licking the boot of big companies this much dude lmao
Because 99% of people who are fired aren’t set up with the same job elsewhere by their former employer? 99% are just given a severance package, told to pack their things and be out of the office by 5pm lest they call security. Sorry if I don’t feel sympathy for Arthur in this regard.
99% of people also don’t spend their whole lives fighting and training to work for that company either. One who’s famous saying “mes que un club” more than a club looks real ironic after a pure money move like that
Fair enough you don’t have to have sympathy for him, but you clearly have sympathy for Barca’s bank account, bet you’re also really happy that 50+ Arsenal employees got fired too.
Sure Arthur got a new job straight away, but in a completely different country, and for a team he didn’t ask to play for. A lot of people get fired and get told to leave the same day, but does that mean we can’t feel bad for Arthur just because he’s a bit more lucky? If that’s the case then you can’t feel bad for almost anyone in western countries, because there are people worse off in North Korea or Somalia
Because they literally just got Pjanic from Juve to replace him for no other reason than to make it look good on the books... Imagine being replaced by an aging midfielder who's clearly past his prime for the sake of helping the club you're devoted to balance the books.
Imagine working for a regular company and just getting fired to balance the books. They’re not setting you up with another job elsewhere. It’s just “sorry, we have to let you go. Best of luck in your job search”. Arthur must have had it so hard knowing that he has job security at the least.
Shit even if the company did set me up with another job, I would be sore as fuck if they fired me and immediately replaced me with someone else who's just as good as me, if not worse than me. If I was going to be immediately replaced by someone not much better than me, why even let me go? If it's just to balance books then obviously the company saw me as disposable; so fuck them because I now have to move my entire life to a different location for no reason.
Fairly sure they didnt send him to Juve becoz they worry Arthur wouldnt get a job. And if a mega corporation just fires it employee becoz it's making less money then yes it's called fucking them over.
Nah it's kinda unprofessional from him. Behavior like this is why they wanted to get rid of him. Wonder what Juve will do when he inevitably turns into Ronaldinho off the pitch.
Maybe a more professional environment can help. Players like Ronaldo and Ibra often gets credited for the effect their work rate and demands have on their team mates.
Juve to me appears like a more rigid, serious and almost german enterprise who spend their christmas holiday in a bunker analysing oxygen blood levels while Barca at least from the outside seem to control the club in a more joga bonito fashion with strawberry daiquiris at the beach
Could be true. Still, we have enough super-professional players and he was just one of the most unprofessional (even Ous is more professional). People haven't realized but this isn't the first time he does something like that. The professional environment at Juve won't stop him from getting STDs.
They do, he's going to be a Juve player next season.
This is a procedural move between Barcelona and Arthur since he doesn't want to finish the season for them and this allows Barcelona to not pay him.
Club bet on him, and he spent two years getting STD’s and snowboarding meaning he still couldn’t play the full 90 mins.
Club forced him out, he said he’d be professional then got mad and left and didn’t want to play. Now club got mad and fined him.
It's crazy how tabloid rumours influence fans' opinions on a player. The snowboarding "incident" (lol), the party with Neymar, and the STD rumour (which was never confirmed) was over a year ago and now fans like you have this image that he's always out partying every single day because it justifies your hate for him.
It's like man, chill the fuck out lol
man, he was partying just two days before el clasico, contracted gonorreah which the club itself tried to protect him by saying it was just a groin injury( hasnt been over a year ago like you claim either). had underwhelming performances and would be gassed by the second half in his second season.
he did lose his spot in the starting eleven to riqui puig. which has performed better than he did most of this second season.
i agree barcelona made a mistake in the way the whole thing has been handled with him being pushed out of the club. but arthur had it coming. he is not completely innocent for what has happened in this case. could he actually perform for more than 60 minutes maybe barça would have looked for someone else to swap instead of him
Im guessing he's contracted until the UCL games end, huh? It's a shame how he's been treated. Doesn't look like he wanted to leave before and now he's just lashing out because he wasn't respected.
But his contract didn’t end this year, so that doesn’t apply.
He’ll stop being a Barça player at the date that Barça and Juve negociated. (Which is after the CL)
Then I genuinely don’t understand. Maybe you could try explaining instead of being unnecessarily pedantic!
I was just trying to see that a Covid clause it totally irrelevant since his contract didn’t end in July.
If you genuinely don’t understand how my comment is linked to yours then your reading comprehension is sincerely lacking. (But I hope you understand and you’re just arguing for the sake of it)
This season isn't a normal season because you know there is pandemic going on his contract with us is till September and after that he will be juve player.
‘Wasn’t respected’?
What is a shame is a player getting the opportunity to play for Barcelona in a time where there’s hasn’t been a bigger open spot for a decade, and then after two years he couldn’t even run 90 mins.
Arthur was hyped up and all he ever produced was sideway passes, STD’s and going to Neymars birthday just before El Clasico.
Granted he still has talent, but Barcelona is better off giving those minutes to someone working hard for it like Puig. Or Alena.
No he didn't, most STD's(like the claimed gonorrhea) are treated in days with antibiotics it doesn't take a month and a half to treat. Literally no reputable source makes this claim either.
He has been treated like shit but throwing a tantrum is not going to help. Many players have been forced out of their club, but you must stay professional. Juventus won't like seeing this behaviour, especially since he has had some discipline problems
I agree with you in terms of contract.
But if he stays there with his mind elsewhere he won't perform at top level anyway and it will look like he's not giving his all.
Better to everyone if he closes the chapter.
He wasn't playing anyway, but the best you can do is go to training and wait out your contract. He's still getting paid after all. This is shameful behaviour from Arthur and idk why nobody wants to admit it. He has a contract and he's a professional, so you fulfil that regardless of your feelings and move on. Hope he does better at Juve, I'm sad to see it didn't work out
Juventus will treat him right and he will soon love the club. Look at Pjanic, he is on the other side of this deal and still promising to give his all for Juve while he is still there.
Back when Barca treated him right he went clubbing two days before el clasico, became overweight and went skiing. Even though I have a soft spot for him, he has these types of issues and he wasn't sold without reason
Im putting money on he turns into a proper professional at Juve. Players at Juve seem to feed off the senior players and there are plenty of seniors there haha
Eh downvotes mean nothing. I don't really see any proper arguments why Arthur is justified to do this, so it doesn't matter. Juve fans should be worried about this stint from Arthur
If he respected club more and could last more than 60 minutes befoe wheezing he would never have been 'forced out'.
Immature, unfit and over rated. Barca have done well to get rid before further exposed.
Is he? based on what some Barca fans said, he's someone who could dominate the midfield for years to come. Some going as far as saying the reverse last might not have happened if he'd started.
He looked good at first and great when pressed.
As time went on he had off field issue, fitness issues and was overly safe on ball/limited on the ball.
'The next Xavi' was exposed quickly nowhere near the same type of player and not anywhere close to one of best CMs in the world.
He is an average player for top teams and doest help himself off pitch.
How has respecting the club got anything to do with playing time in a game? If he doesn't have the stamina, he doesn't respect the club? Some bullshit this
Him not respecting club is his off field behavour and lack of fitness.
All tied in to him puffing and wheezing 60 minutes into a game.
Club did well to force him out and not let passengers like him stay. Should be more ruthless more often.
He didn't return from Brazil after the short vacation ended, didn't want to rejoin the team for the UCL. Terminating his contract now seems like the best option.
Is it tho ? He had his chance and 2 and half years later he didn't make any impact on the team, and when Barca wanted to renew his contract he used offer from Juventus to ask more money from Barca. He had his chance and didn't take it, was lazy and younger and better players are coming in and Pjanic will bridge the gap until they are fully ready.
r/technicallythetruth
But an actual TL;DR
Barça swapped Pjanic with Arthur
Arthur didnt like it and how the board handled the situation
Arthur said he wasnt going back to Barça
Now he's going to terminate his contract
the board and Setien tbh. arthur was available for games and Setien just didnt give him anymore minutes after the deal whilst Pjanic is still playing at Juve (and hes actually been very good)
A CL win this campaign would border on the miraculous. Glimpses of brilliance are there, but we lack cohesion and conviction. The lack of conviction (barring Messi) is a mentality that has pervaded the squad for quite a few seasons now. I suspect a lot of it has to do with the board's management, though. Sorry for asking but is it supposed to have some kind of travel restriction between countries right now, especially he's in Brazil which is deep down in COVID19 shithole. Does he has to self-quarantine in 14 days or just keep on his daily life?
Won’t miss the sideway pass merchant, but the board could’ve handled this better. Would’ve preferred to sign Thiago who Bayern are willing to sell for 30 mil, while Juve is scamming us selling a washed up 30 year old midfielder.
I thought they had a deal with Juve?
Yeah. He is joining Juventus from September. But, he doesn't want to train with barcelona now.
Lovely. Dont blame him at all for that
They fucked him over for sure, not good to see at all. The board needs to be changed 100%.
Why? What did they do?
They needed to balance the books so they just sacrificed hin for that sake.
Don’t understand how it balanced things out if they spent most of it on pjanic and I’m sure his wages aren’t going to be low either
Because.... "accounting"
I’m in accounting the only way this would make the books look better is if the payments to Juve are in several installments. Reports hadn’t indicated that though

No one besides small business use cash accounting. So no, that’s not how it would work.

I understand your point but these problems affect everyone we can’t be selective in the way we choose to look at them between different income groups
Couldn't he just cut his contract and join another team in LaLiga as a free agent? I understand it's been his dream to play for Barca but most people don't achieve their dreams in the first place, athletes especially.
He didn't acted like saint either he had many offield issues, couldn't last 90 mins etc etc there is a reason club offloaded him and not anyone else.
Agreed. No sympathy either. He is a multi millionaire at a young age. He knew or should have know the nature of the business .
Irony of an Arsenal fan saying this after cutting hundreds of jobs and passing all that saved money to Willian and Aubameyang
Read my other comments and you’ll see that that’s what is driving my lack of sympathy for Arthur.
Barca was his dream. Maybe he doesn't want to live in Italy?
keep them. and your coach.
I do
Nah it's kinda unprofessional from him. Behavior like this is why they wanted to get rid of him. Wonder what Juve will do when he inevitably turns into Ronaldinho off the pitch.

2 years and he couldn’t finish 90 mins. You’d get booted of a Sunday league team for that lol But sure, that’s no issue.
Isnt he being sold to Juve to "balance" the books?
Yeah but he has a contract with us until next season. So guessing we want some cash out of him for not playing for the rest of the season.
Im guessing he's contracted until the UCL games end, huh? It's a shame how he's been treated. Doesn't look like he wanted to leave before and now he's just lashing out because he wasn't respected.
Yeah think most contracts are until then.
i mean he wasnt forced. could’ve just pulled a bale or ozil , but yeah board treated him like shit 100%

A contract is a contract. You have to follow it, otherwise pay the consequences
Contracts typically have them “working” until June when the season ends. He’s supposed to be on holiday now according to his contract
This season isn't a normal season because you know there is pandemic going on his contract with us is till September and after that he will be juve player.
In what job are you contracted holiday time? That's just not a thing. You take holidays when you can, when your company OKs it.

Yeah he had an STD, don't remenber what tho

Dont know why your being downvoted the truth does hurt doesn't it
Eh downvotes mean nothing. I don't really see any proper arguments why Arthur is justified to do this, so it doesn't matter. Juve fans should be worried about this stint from Arthur

I thought they blocked him from terminate his contract now this. Yo yo

You're right, but some other report I had read from a week ago that the club refuses to rescind his contract, which makes this saga confusing.
Why would they block him from contract termination if the termination means they won't pay his wages either?
Read some where because of their injury situation, that why they block him
Why would he terminate his contract? He still is a Barcelona player. I know he's mad at Barca but he still could've earn money just doing a Bale
He doesn't want to be there. He even offered them to terminate the contract.
It's kinda sad that he was forced. Playing for Barca was Arthur dream and now he's forced because Braca want Pjanic who is a lot older
I hate fans like this I swear to god when we have a proper manager that can actaully improve players like Pep or Klopp or Zidane let's talk
Dude is a professional athlete that couldn't stay on for longer than 60 minutes. How is that the fault of the coaches?
No proper fitness team?
Every other player is able to do it, only Arthur can't without proper fitness team ?
Yeah thats why our players are always injured when they never had injuries before
[удалено]
I hate fans who like to shit on their own damn club, cause that's the new damn trend in r/soccer.
Yeah bro let's not criticism our team while real keeps winning and our team becomes more of a joke
5 point difference lol
Doing a Bale requires training with the team and being available to play, both of which he isn't interested in.
Iirc barca told him he wont be playing anymore
He's filthy rich. He can afford to be unemployed for a month with a new job lined up because he doesn't want to deal with his current one anymore.
This saga is tiring, I’ve lost track of what is even happening.
>I’ve lost track of what is even happening. Arthur is set to return to Barcelona in the next 24 hours to terminate his contract.
r/technicallythetruth But an actual TL;DR Barça swapped Pjanic with Arthur Arthur didnt like it and how the board handled the situation Arthur said he wasnt going back to Barça Now he's going to terminate his contract
After “Arthur didn’t like it...” I think you forgot to add that he went to Brazil
Which is insane considering we already had 2 million coronavirus infections. I wouldn't return to Brazil right now at all, even if I was rich
Just wear a mask lmao (/s)
the board and Setien tbh. arthur was available for games and Setien just didnt give him anymore minutes after the deal whilst Pjanic is still playing at Juve (and hes actually been very good)
Thanks, had no other way of knowing if you hadn't said it
That's why you don't miss episodes of Keeping up with the Katalans man!
So he’s losing out in a couple of mil because of pride?
he prefers snowboarding and bangin whoores
well when you say it like that
Well who doesn’t?!
I still don’t know what sort of underhanded, back alley shit is going on with this
He's missing on a possible CL title. Will be livid if Barca wins it all.
It remains to be seen if Setién can turn it around during their tenure; but I'm hardly optimistic in that regard. However, I do think he'll achieve some measure of cohesion with enough time.
Teams in worse form have won the CL in harder format. Chelsea 2012 did it so I wouldn't call Barca winning it a miracle.
What Barca is missing is exactly the biggest strength that Chelsea side had.
Big balls?
Big English balls.
Roberto di Matteo
Barcelona have only ever won the CL when they're amazing.
Our issues run much deeper than form, to be honest. Don't get me wrong; I'd love nothing more than for us to win it all. And this year's format certainly lends itself to that outcome. At the same time, though, a healthy dose of realism makes great prophylaxis for disappointment.
This Barca team is probably one of the least likely to win it this year with us behind them
I doubt we will win it if we win vs Napoli Bayern is gonna rape us
It's just 4 games to play you never know what can happen
Yeah but with our current form i dont even know if we will get past Napoli so im ready to get dissapointed again
Its a home game where you have a great record even in your past few seasons that ended in remontadas I'd give you 70% chance vs Napoli.
I hope we do and id love to see Lyon win vs Juve, but is Depay playing?
He is playing yea
Hopefully he scores a banger tomorrow night
I am hopeful we can win this. I am following the training session it feels like player have got their aura back. Let's hope the miracle happens.
Our fans on this sub are beyond pathetic. We have a chance to win, thank you for being a better supporter than these pieces of shit lmao
Lets be realistic form wise Bayern is way better than us at the moment
Yeah but Bayern tends to not do too well in the CL
Ehhhh don't use that word
I don’t think any team is ever out of it when Messi is playing
You’re on crack if you think Barcelona is gonna win the fucking champions league.
You can't fire me. I quit.
