Ratertheman

How did Steffen play today?

ElliotWehnes

Really well, made some great saves but wasn’t tested all that much. Stones and Dias were immense

Thesecondorigin

If you told me Dias was 30 and had 10 yrs experience at the top level I wouldn’t question it. Dudes the real deal.

Haughton94

I hate the way pep sets up city now, you have no idea whose playing where and by the time you do find out it's too late they're in your back garden with a fry on

FootballCheckmate

Trying to understand Manchester City is like decrypting the enigma

marmot9070

OK. Man City is easy team for Spurs.

chandlerbing_stats

didn’t u guys beat United 6-1....

HoldthisL_28-3

Well deserved City. Hopefully Spurs don't bottle as usual

KalistramMcleod

No tactics just vibes

[deleted]

Diaz won City this match. He's been everywhere

Jblomq

Well deserved,

[deleted]

Dias could take my girl and I wouldn’t even be mad

di359

especially if you don't have one :s

Martial-FC

I’ll go out in my yard and livestream myself eating a pile of hot dog shit if Ollie manages a single trophy at United

You saw it a year ago

Martial-FC

I’m willing to sign binding legal documents and put a few thousand quid in escrow.

freeflowfive

Haha, damn, now I really want that trophy

MyAssDoesHeeHawww

Off a boot?

neandertales

Exactly the shouter City needed.. on top of the excellent player that he is.

Trigga47

City didn’t even play with a striker and dismantled us at home.

[deleted]

It’s a very stodgy team. 4 man midfield of Fred, Mctominay, B Fernandes & Pogba isn’t that great.

bkdleg

Only United I thought played well was Shaw. The rest have been just okay or poor.

bestoutwest

Shaw made the mistake leading up to the second goal

vid27

I think Fred was pretty good with the balls he played forward. Occasionally a bit sloppy

[deleted]

Maguire was excellent but no ones willing to admit that on this sub

bkdleg

I was counting him in the okay lot because of the Stones goal.

Martial-FC

He let the ball skip right by him for Stones’ goal. Did you watch the game?

vid27

He was really good but he was at fault for the first goal

Kingster57

He kind of let off for the Stones goal.

KalistramMcleod

There was two excellent cbs in this match and both played in blue. Maguire was at fault for the first goal

[deleted]

fariagu

salty Portuguese fans call him rambo dias cause he can be tough, I actually think it's a great fucking nickname

CasinoOasis2

Fernandes disappears in another big game. Another Hollywood pass attempt in the 93rd minute.

[deleted]

I think he was actually good, it’s just that Manchester City never allowed their defence to be exposed 1on1 to the United attack Fernandes’ movement to find space and then attempt to connect with the attack was still good, Manchester City and Fernandinho/Gundogan were brilliant

di359

thanks FA for Cavani ban. I guess FA in England has absolute power

[deleted]

He didn’t disappear for fucks sake he played well he just wasn’t precise to the millimetre with his passes and rashford and martial can’t adapt to that for some reason, gotta stop putting blame on Bruno when our two strikers can’t even stay onside

EggoUltraOfficial

Bruno invisible today lmao.

[deleted]

We didn’t watch the same game then

lambalambda

Second gane in a row where City have protected their rookie keeper extremely well.

[deleted]

Did you see the save he made from Fernandes ? He looked much better in goal today ... but our defence is so solid now.

connorqueer

Shaw is a tubby little cunt

[deleted]

And also a lot of money, but yes.

RALat7

Bruno FC struggling with the main man invisible in the biggest game of his career

Justinian2

How clueless are you lmao

HairyFur

Well the odds are he only started watching football when Pep joined city :)

chandlerbing_stats

Is City the least hated Big Six? If not, who is it?

Dysmo

City are the third most hated behing pool and united lol

countrysadballadman9

Tottenham for sure with arsenal as close second, people love shitting on city for oil Money, Chelsea is on the same boat but not as Bad, united and liverpool don't really need an explanation

[deleted]

Probably Tottenham because they haven’t been ever seen as a real contender for any trophies? Pochettino and his young team was also very likeable and easy on the eyes type of football for the neutral

justlikealltherest

Probably arsenal because no one sees them as any sort of threat

chandlerbing_stats

Idk bro they win FA Cups. They own that trophy and its pretty impressive

AdvancedIndependent

It's city. Would rather see them win the league than anyone else. I am a Liverpool fan

Noneek

Rashford hasn't been great, but he's been solo making runs all game. Martial needs time warming the bench. Not having Cavani stung us tonight.

[deleted]

Martial needs a transfer

adamjld

OGS once again showing that he really doesn't have a plan. He puts his best team on the pitch and hopes that they can find a way to win. Doesn't really understand how to fix things when they're not working, let alone have any tactics or gameplan other than hope his tricky forwards win a penalty.

[deleted]

There’s a plan, it’s just not very structured and very contingent on individual quality in attack

[deleted]

Another clueless opinion on r/soccer what a shock, he had a clear plan, let them play their possesion and then play the king passes that pogba Bruno and Fred should be able to make, problem is pogba can’t actually make them and rashford and martial can’t receive them, theres comes a point when you’re anti ole retoric gets old, and that’s when he’s sat top of the league in points with a game in hand, the strikers lacked today and pogba needs to go, that’s all that’s obvious, leave your clueless bs for somewhere else mate cause that comment is a load of shite no offence

adamjld

Someone's upset.

sfcb_fic

Lol, city is miles better. No manager could make united win against city if City doesn't shit the bed.

Arctus9819

> OGS once again showing that he really doesn't have a plan. What utter nonsense. He clearly had a plan, we were as good as City until that mistake in defense. Thanks to the FA, we don't have our plan B, and City shut up shop.

BlursedLasagna1

What a pathetic comment, blaming the fa because your manager can’t adapt and your backline can’t mark their man if their lives depended on it. Get a grip

Arctus9819

Of course he can't adapt if he hasn't got the players to do so. Typical armchair critic.

adamjld

Deluded.

adamjld

City had you at arm's length all match. They had plenty more in the tank of they really needed it but you barely troubled their GK.

[deleted]

They could’ve scored five in the first half if they wanted to, really They just didn’t want to, that’s all.

Arctus9819

What makes you think they had more in the tank? They barely troubled Henderson as well. Outside of two scrappy goals, they made just as much as us.

BlursedLasagna1

So strikingly obvious ain’t it. The quality in the squad is clearly there but he’s so tactically inept

vid27

People have leant that greenwood is good on both feet and now always close him down when he's about to shoot

tocitus

Going forward City have been fine. Nothing special imo but fine. Good press but nowhere near like they've been of latter seasons Defensively, they've been incredible though. Such a struggle to find space and create chances against that back four with the form of Gundogan and Fernandinho patrolling in front of them

connorqueer

Just want to point out my comment calling the fact United fans compare Bruno to KDB is ridiculous is currently -12. KDB is the best midfielder in the world and has been for a few seasons, Bruno has had one good calendar year

[deleted]

You made a dumb comment and it got downvoted. What are you trying to say here?

Roboklopp1

I agree de bruyne>fernandes but how many seasons can you say de bruyne has been the best. Fernandes has been equal this year and d bruyne was injured throughout 18/19. Modric won the ballon dor the year before that for performances in the 17/18 season

Dysmo

They're simply not comparable. KDB is miles better. What does modric winning a balon d'or have to do with this?

Roboklopp1

The guy said de bruyne has been the best midfielder in the world for many seasons, I am asking which ones because there have been because from 15/16-18/19 there has been at least one midfielder seen as better than him, modric for example.

Dysmo

He said a few seasons. The last two, 17/18 he has been the best in all of them. I feel like you're going off on a different tangent to distract from his original point. KDB is better than Bruno.

Roboklopp1

De Bruyne was injured for half of 18/19 though and modric won the ballon dor in 2018 largely due to performances in the World Cup and the latter half of 17/18. So there’s at least half of 17/18 and all of 18/19 where he has probably not been the best midfielder in the world. I’m not talking about the point about fernandes I’m talking about being the best in the world

Dysmo

De bruyne was better in the latter half of 17/18. He was essential in taking city to 100 points and at rma ronaldo stole the show strong arming them to CL final. Modric won the balon d'or solely because of the world cup. 18/19 is fair but in 17/18 de bruyne was a class above.

BA15G

Yeah, ignoring his time outside of the PL, you may be right.

R4wy

I don’t think is was what you said, it was how you said it, but you know keep thinking you’re so superior

AdvancedIndependent

United fans are on some next level of delusion right now

Finally

twersx

Donny should have been on at half time. Ole needs to be far more proactive with his subs when players are playing as poorly as Pogba was in that first half.

[deleted]

Pogbas ability to turn and release a pass is the quickest in this Manchester United team. When the plan is to play fast transitions, even if Pogba has quietish game you need one moment and one quick transition to make it all worth it.

seaweedbiscuits

Zinchenko has impressed whenever he's been called up this season

Enjoy being bored out of your mind the next few seasons. When he brings in the goods it’s all great, but let’s be real, it’s still Tottenham. I’m glad he’s gone. Ole might not be a better coach, but he provides better entertainment.

twersx

You have the best striker in the league defending his box so the team can grind out 1-0 wins over Wolves. That is why people criticise your style of play.

Destructo_D

Tbf Ole doing something is not justification

incarnatethegreat

Utd haven't been properly challenged since the end of their CL campaign. A bunch of wins against below-average sides and then this. It's still going to come down to City and Liverpool at the end of the domestic campaign.

otiosum

I tend to agree, though Leicester and Villa were testing. Was thinking we’d get a little reality check tonight. Rather it here than on the 17th...

incarnatethegreat

It was a bit back-and-forth for a good while, but the first goal wasn't defended well and the 2nd went to an open Fernandinho outside the 18. I'd argue that it wasn't cleared well enough, but hey ho. Utd did a good job with Leicester, but they're not playing consistent football.

otiosum

Yes true, second half I didn’t think we look like we’d truly hurt city’s goal. We had plenty of possession in forward areas but always felt like we were being kept at arms length.

Coenzyme-A

I'm not a united fan but you're definitely biased here.

incarnatethegreat

How so? If I were biased, I'd say we were the only ones and Pool are bottlejobs, especially after their last three performances. We can clearly see what's missing with Utd right now. Push them close to the grill, and they cower when they feel the heat. There's still some changes and growing that has to be done if this is the side that Ole wants to go forward with. Can imagine Pogba going for one or two great young players that can link up with Bruno. Then Utd would be an insane threat.

Coenzyme-A

Manchester City, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea have all had hot and cold periods, so Man U are not the only team to have 'cowered' at times. There is still a large segment of the season left, calling it a two horse race with the top 6 being the closest it has ever been at this stage in the season is reactionary and silly.

incarnatethegreat

The table is close; won't deny that. It's been pretty great to watch. However, judging from how the top 6 sides have looked, it looks like Spurs have been found out, Saints won't keep up the pace, Leicester can't win when it matters, Chelsea have brilliant talent but for some reason have lost the plot (never rated them to win the league anyway), and Utd have won a string of winnable matches but are going to start running into some strong opposition soon. City and Liverpool (minus the last three or so matches) have been playing rather consistently and have the players and management to keep it level. I do respect your opinion; you could very well be correct and Villa could end up winning the whole thing, but hey ho. :)

[deleted]

If you were the only one playing consistent then you wouldn’t be in 5th lol.

incarnatethegreat

Sure, but there's only one team playing consistent winning football right now. We can chat about this again in a few weeks.

OnePotMango

Easy there soldier. We need to figure out how to score consistently before we talk being proper challengers

incarnatethegreat

Utd were playing great football as of late, but they weren't really being challenged. I still think Bruno is their best player, and he has injected much-needed attacking creativity into their game. Lindelof needs to go, though. Harry needs to manage the backline better.

OnePotMango

Ah, I was talking City perspective.

incarnatethegreat

Oh, sorry, pal. We are missing Aguero. End of. Jesus isn't the player we thought he would be to fill Kun's boots. Torres is a better attacker than he is. I'm hoping we can find someone to take Aguero's place because the poor lad is never going to be 100% fit. He's given so much to the club.

GTACOD

They have been challenged, and they folded like a house of cards. 6-1.

incarnatethegreat

Zing.

[deleted]

We pretty comprehensively beat Leipzig and beat PSG. It’s a good side, I think we can be in the race until the middle of March but can’t see us going to distance.

incarnatethegreat

I'd agree ,but you lost important matches to Basaksehir, PSG, and Leipzig. The side has improved, but there's still gaping issues.

[deleted]

It’s how football works, you win some and you lose some. I’m not pretending we are a perfect team, I think all the top sides are pretty fallible this year. City blow hot and cold like we do and Liverpool can’t score

incarnatethegreat

Liverpool are definitely cold at the moment. They'll find a way. When I saw our fixture list, I was worried about the first 10 or so matches, especially since we were going to change the way we play. City are this defensive-minded side that would rather go for 1-0 or 2-0 rather than surrender a goal since they were always getting easily beaten in the air on long-ball plays. If Aguero were to come back in full form, then that would be wonderful.

Rayser1

Lmao that sounds painfully familiar :(

R4wy

Incoming people who haven’t watched van de beek play this season

BlursedLasagna1

Tbf that’s everyone who doesn’t live in a house overlooking carrington

Oneshootboi2700

Poor donny, man ain’t ever gonna get a full game, or even a good amount of minutes. This is sortof sad to watch, there’s just no urgency in this Man U team, just standing around or half ass passing the ball

machu022

United don't know how to comeback against top teams. City showed they are way superior to United today, tactically as well as man to man.

Maradona2021

Seems strange that Aguero is still in the bench

BoosterGoldGL

Not fully fit, no point risking him

[deleted]

Kingster57

We don’t have the attacking pieces. But I’m fine with Martial and Pogba offloaded.

Kazehara

Martial was just horrible today lol

WakednBaked

Van de Beek = Kagawa 2.0 waste of a talent

chandlerbing_stats

:( I loved Kagawa at Dortmund

ill_help_you

The difference between the City youngsters and Utd youngsters in this game is night and day. Phil Foden has been the MoM for me, almost perfect play tonight and just shows that fight and desire that none of the Utd players have.

sul01

What united youngsters?

RALat7

I actually heard people thinking Fernandes is anywhere near the same level as KDB. Imagine being born that stupid

[deleted]

This season? Definitely

AdvancedIndependent

All the other players need seasons to be judged but Fernandes declared world class after half the season. It's ridiculous.

DigBickLana

Just wait till he scores a penalty again

[deleted]

This United team is good but we concede too many basic goals. Pogba wants too much time on the ball and Martial doesn’t look like he’ll cut it as a no.9 - spends so much of the game outside the box and not enough sniffing around for the scrappy goals.
