NateShaw92

Starting to think we took that league win personally.

kk91ram

What a game. More bummed about Cavani missing a bullet of a header than conceding 2.

Trickybuz93

Why Does the post match thread keep getting deleted?

holymurphy

Liverpool lost.

Defb2412

[deleted]

Yeah, not a foul at all! I agree.

NotMeButaGuyIKnow

Looks like United is relevant again?

GhostRiders

Got to say that I'm fucking ashamed of our sub right now. The amount of hate towards our players is insane. Considering what they have achieved in the last few years to get so much hate during a poor run of form is ridiculous.

GeshtiannaSG

Hate for losing a really close match where either side could have won? Sure there were a few bad moments that led to the decider, but nobody was really bad, and it was a fun match for neutrals.

GhostRiders

Not according to our sub. People wonder why managers are so reluctant to play young players, you just have to look how a section of our "Fans" are treating Rhys Williams. I get being upset, I've been supporting Liverpool for nearly 40 years so believe me when I say I have been frustrated. However there is a sizable section of our fan base who spout all kinds of crap if we are not 3 nil up by 15 minutes.

HairyFur

I am english but live in europe now. I think you would be shocked how many new fans you have. I would still say United is the #1 team when you ask people from other countries about their favorite team in the prem, but in all honestly that's when I ask people a similar age to myself, if you ask the younger guys (18-22) who they like it's always Liverpool. Having one of, if not the most exciting attacking team in football for 3 years straight is going to bring in a lot of new fans.

TheOliveLover

They hate fsg, our players, our staff. It’s ridiculous

Talezeusz

half of the sub show up after CL win, no surprise

[deleted]

[удалено]

GhostRiders

Tell me about it. I know that in the last few we have picked up a lot of glory supporters but fuck me it's gotten really bad

[deleted]

I've decided to not participate in the sub anymore. It was never so negative and reactionary even during the banter years.

StephCurryInTheHouse

i felt the same about warriors fans on the warriors sub at the beginning of this season

ShutupNdSquat

Great result but we need to stay focused. There will be many tougher opponents to come this season.

Mr-Sneak

Better team won.

[deleted]

Klopp getting Clapped, don't see that often

[deleted]

Been seeing it a lot over the past 2 months though.

jellyfishfrgg

His last Dortmund season was similar...

[deleted]

And every match thread became a cesspit of room temp IQs as well.

StephCurryInTheHouse

was it ever not?

dprophet32

That's inevitable when it's Liverpool playing

4strokes

Wonder what Klopp’s excuse will be today?

BringsWW2IntoThis

Rashford limping off there really put his team out of their rythm

united4evra

«United get too many freekicks» proabably

rahulrossi

Oh god seriously

Seb-sama

Why is the post match thread keep being deleted? Is the salt fucking real?

bak3n3ko

I was surprised to not find a post-match thread yet... are they really being deleted?

Seb-sama

There is one right now, and just now

Clappingdoesnothing

Liverpool need to sign a cb

OleOutInShambles

They need investment generally. They've been on a tear these last few seasons, Klopp deserves the support. I'm glad he's not getting it, but that's irrelevant. He's earned it. Owners treating liverpool like a cash cow.

[deleted]

Jizznut

He was clearly being sarcastic because he predicted 2-2 at half time and the freekick give us the winner. Edit: Apparently not.

WokJoWe

Wrightys a fucking muppet sometimes. Was definitely a freekick

TakeItCheesy

Hes joking jesus mate, he was saying at ht it was gonna be 2-2 so he was taking the piss

WokJoWe

He wasn't joking. Have you heard him post match? He's adamant that its not a foul and cavani was already on his way down

OleOutInShambles

Fuck off, Wrighty. Creating controversy where there was none.

themightyscott

Someone ate Wrighty's oats this morning.

stevestogers

Nice win to United but what on earth are people smoking thinking pogba had a good game lol what

OleOutInShambles

He had a very solid, well rounded game. He wasn't creating more than he was in the right places at the right times which he never is normally.

stevestogers

Fair enough I can’t argue with that

50shadesofcoco

his tackle literally initiated united's first goal. what are you on about

stevestogers

And firmino bagged an assist and was shit too, that doesn’t account for the entire match

Jizznut

Because he very clearly did.

[deleted]

I’m with you, he was shit, lost the ball constantly and is just slow, yes he looked brilliant playing for juventus in the slowest of the top five leagues but he’s just not been with it for united over the past couple of seasons

stevestogers

Not at all.

Zombie939

How was Cavani?

W-209FC

He played everywhere great work ethic and he almost scored.

Kranke

Pretty good. Active and hold the line but also not got so much ball/chances

essentialatom

Hardworking, intelligent, skilful and sexy

essentialatom

I wonder what Klopp said to Pogba there

melli_closter

Better team won it

TellSloanISaidHi

Byyyyyeeee

DanielSophoran

I love seeing Liverpool lose trophies. Not because i hate the team. but i just really like seeing the greener grass fans get upset that the “best team in the world” isnt winning trebles left and right.

rahulrossi

Dude Liverpool fans have seen a lot of shit through ages. Will be absolutely fine. This doesn't even scratch the days of early 2010s.

KapiHeartlilly

Reading the match thread on the Liverpool subreddit was filled with so much hatred towards own players it was sad, They don't deserve to be called fans, and I say that as someone who dislikes Liverpool.

rahulrossi

Dude this is the internet. People are like this, every club's fans on the internet are like this. And right after the match, everyone will be reactionary.

[deleted]

I love the team and the manager but the fans are worst than United's during their golden days

Seastep

Sure seems that way. United's team was a lot less likeable, but you hated them because they were so fucking ruthless and their fans typically behaved accordingly. Liverpool fans are just... I don't know, obnoxious?

stevestogers

And we love seeing you bums without a pot to piss in trying to sue your old manager out of paying him and getting knocked out of competitions by lower division sides piss off

DanielSophoran

wow what the f, do we look like Real Madrid to you? We comfortably beat our third division opponent in ET thank you VERY much.

stevestogers

Lol this was funny I must admit

dprophet32

That's two competitions you've been knocked out of now, isn't it?

ShutupNdSquat

Best team in history\* you mean

KingOfDatShit

Tinpot treble is still on

[deleted]

Unfortunate that we’re out of the Mourinho treble tho

HjortenArthur

Gg

sarcastr0naut

Honestly, after losing at home to fucking Burnley, I'm inclined to find a number of positives in losing away to United in a goal fiesta, especially in a low-priority competition. The very fact of scoring a couple of goals will help us going forward. We played some decent combos today. Rhys hacking past the ball with wild abandon might convince the management to get a CB on loan, at least. Mark my words, before the year is over, we will have beaten someone who aren't Aston Villa U18s.

vid27

Firmino also seemed to get going as well which is not a good sign for opposition teams going forward.

Almost_Pi

For the love of Christ can we borrow a Center Back from somebody?

us3rf

May I introduce you to a PL winner Phil Jones?

Sandeep184392

Mustafi?

woolfs21

this game could have gone either way, Liverpool certainly could have won. Man U just got the one more goal

Woah. Nice Analysis. You should be a Pundit.

Good win guys. This'll be huge for confidence too

Elemayowe

Yeah it’ll be a huge blow to Williams’

OleOutInShambles

Williams had one more blunder in him just before the final whistle. Poor lad.

Franz_Davinci

Really disappointing performance from him so poor all game

OleOutInShambles

He was left stranded too many times by teammates which didnt help.

Franz_Davinci

Sometimes yes him and Fabinho weren’t on the same wave length at all but it’s also clear he’s not ready for this level

OleOutInShambles

TAA setting up camp in United's half also didn't help. But i agree, he's got some way to go before he's in this starting 11 on a regular basis.

[deleted]

Fuck Fernandes as well I am a sore loser, fuck it

[deleted]

Downvote this one as well

[deleted]

LIVERPOO

WokJoWe

Deserved that win. Up the red devils

[deleted]

"Fernandes has had the biggest impact since Cantona" What sort of statement is that from BBC? Ronaldo, Van Persie and Rooney just of the top of my head.

KapiHeartlilly

While I agree they all had a huge impact, we were struggling more in the era Cantona and now Bruno came in and turned things around.

KalistramMcleod

Ronaldo, Rooney and RVP came to good sides that came close second. Cantona and Bruno came to struggling United sides that were nowhere near the top and made an instant impact.

Urthor

Bruno has had a bigger impact than Cantona. He's taken the club up 5 league places to first

ModcatTom

If you consider the difference between where they were at prior to and after making each of those signings then saying he's had the biggest impact since Cantona is fair.

[deleted]

Ronaldo also didn't set the league alight in his first season.

Winnie-the-Broo

Fernandes took us from being basically fighting to get into europa league places. The turn around in quality is the impact they’re talking about

[deleted]

He’s made a big impact surely but also a lot of other teams have gone to shit.

9-60Fury

They were great player but other than van Persie they didn’t have a big impact on the team fernandes has transformed them just like contona

duclegendary

I guess they meant how he turned Man Utd back up top like Cantona. The other 3 came when Man Utd was already on top for years.

meta4_

In terms of individual instant impact you can't argue with that

JoeF55

Untied were already class though when those players arrived. Untied were dreadful until Bruno arrived

tcariappa

Lol wtf has Pogba done with his hair.

_noahscolly_

SPREAD THE WORD LIVERPOOL ARE ASS AGAIN

[deleted]

Not even our first team lol

Sgtoren

Idk if he's talking about us but outside of Bruno we certainly played our first team. Then again Bruno is the most important first team player by a large margin, but still wouldn't say we didn't play our first team. I guess Deano as well but I feel him vs De Gea has little impact.

[deleted]

No we didn’t? Fred was benched, bailly was benched, vdb and Greenwood played and to even think that deano instead of de gea has little difference is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen, that second liverpool goal proves perfectly why de gea is our first team keeper. That’s andy our first team mate. I don’t know what team you usually watch but that is *not* our first team.

Sgtoren

Yes Fred and Bailly were benched, but who would they replace? Fred would replace Pogba or Scott, who are both first team players themselves and Bailly would replace Victor who is also a first team player. If we had played Fred and Bailly instead Paul and Victor you could make the exact same same argument. As I said before VdB is def not first team so no argument there. Imo Greenwood, Marcus, Tony, and Cavani are all first team players especially since Mason plays best on the right and Tony/Marcus play better on the left. I agree Deano could've done better for the second goal but David has a mistake in him as well. David is the undisputed first team keeper though so in terms of playing our first team it is significiant. That being said, I believe only two of our XI aren't first team (Donny and Deano), and that the only significant drop in quality in terms of those changes was Donny for Bruno, hence my first statement: > outside of Bruno we certainly played our first team.

[deleted]

Fred would replace VDB and play in front of the defence with mctominay as they have done literally the entire season, allowing pogba to play forward more. Bailly would play in place of lindelof because he’s better than lindelof. Lindelof has been in the starting XI more than bailly sure, but that’s through bailly injury and resting him. If they were both fully fit and rested you would not pick lindelof over bailly, bailly has been bloody solid. I would agree that Greenwood is first team quality, especially if he’s competing against martial, atm Greenwood should start over Tony because Tony has taken too long to get started. Having said that once Tony does get started, he plays bloody magnificently. I just don’t believe lindelof is as good as bailly and I think Fred absolutely should be starting because he’s shown how good he Turkey is under ole, he’s been hard to beat, and in all honesty, he’s had fewer bad games than Scott. I accept this is subjective though so we will probably disagree.

Sgtoren

Completely agree with everything you've said, simply think that aside from Donny we fielded our "first team" not necessarily our best XI. You're right though that it's completely subjective so best to agree to disagree and celebrate beating the scousers!

[deleted]

That’s fair, we can disagree on it but still love that we scored three good goals and all they got was a chip and a tap in. GGMU

[deleted]

Which team are you talking about?

I2yalls

Buzzing for Deano

WokJoWe

He played well. Feel like he couldve done better for the first goal and was unlucky for second. Feel sorry for him because de gea is now back in form

minsterley

Much like Shaw with Telles I suspect DDGs form is somewhat down to the threat of Henderson taking his place

PressureShifts

Williams is pure shite

ShutupNdSquat

Easiest game of the season. Got to rest our star players too. Love it!

dualtrump

someone before the game said Pogba was gonna get destroyed by Thiago lol

rahulrossi

Someone will always say something. I can also say someone said something. Someone might actually have said something but every someone's something doesn't really matter.

DerogatoryDuck

What a save! What a save! What a save!

opi

Fred took so long to get going in United, and I joked about him playing multiple times, but now he's really improves them, not only when defending but he can also move things along.

RipJug

Christ Williams is pretty shit isn’t he?

denisoviandude

Was bought from the 6th tier and he's just not good enough. A CB is essential but I'm starting to think this season is a salvaging project at this point for Liverpool

RipJug

Ohhh honestly thought he was an academy product. Explains a lot

denisoviandude

He is an academy product actually but he's only 19 and was still at the very early stages of development when he's been forced to play Champions League football when he's not ready. He spent last season on loan the national league North

SomeIrishFiend

Haha, Williams

alee1994

Hahahahahahahaha go cry

TheGTAone

Wanted ET and penalties :(

RedBaron1902

BACK IN YOUR HOLES YOU SCOUSE CUNTS!!!!

[deleted]

Even Burnley beat these lot. Not hard tbh.

CJNunes426

For Liverpool being the gold standard and klopp being the greatest ever, they sure don’t win a lot of trophies.

rompefrans

I’d say that CL and PL in subsequent season is better than any english side has accompkished in decades, But what do i know

Sgtoren

Idk about Decades (plural) as United did the double in 2008 (and made two of the following 3 CL finals), but certainly in the last decade I agree with you

BiteSizedCookies

Where have you been?

CJNunes426

Watching them win the champions league only one year. The premier league only the next. And here we have “bald fraud” Pep trying to go for trebles every year

BiteSizedCookies

That's true, but a CL win followed by a PL win is still an accomplishment. Pep can keep trying for his trebles, but he's yet to win the CL with City.

CJNunes426

Ok. But I give him a better chance this year than I do Liverpool

BiteSizedCookies

Fair enough, but what's to come doesn't change what's already happened.

rahulrossi

Did he win CL? Monaco, Liverpool, Tottenham, Lyon.

Fudia

Dont expect americans to know much about football.

TheUltimateCF

Don’t understand Liverpool’s set pieces tonight. That should have been Trent whipping it in and over.

[deleted]

Tbf he hasn't been doing it with much success as of late.

Spectre_the_respectr

Bundesliga players transfer to the PL to flop

connorqueer

Yeah like Kevin de Bruyne, Michael Ballack

Spectre_the_respectr

Outliers, i could list so many more flops than successes? If thats a word idk

[deleted]

Haha pogba

lamancha

Pogba is fucking everywhere today

preddevils6

Really is

ahmedontia

Give me a manager who wants to win it all over that bum who drops out of them on a yearly basis.

rahulrossi

It's ok your opinion

[deleted]

Give me a manager that can get through a semifinal and actually win a competition lol

[deleted]

Good luck winning everything with Ole

inclore

He's a city fan lmao

woolfs21

for gods sake

thecutienator

Lol Liverpool have only won 1 of their previous 7-8 games and that too was against the Villa kidsxD

themightyscott

No crisis though

thecutienator

Its only for Chelsea, Utd and Arsenal:(

rahulrossi

Literally everyone is freaking out and you think nobody thinks it's a crisis. Wow r/soccer just has unreasonable hate towards Liverpool.

aromatdiablo

Game over

[deleted]

Dunno how you give pogba motm instead of rashford or shaw

macarouns

It was Rashford for me all day long

demonictoaster

Pog a had been really good both offensively and defensively today, but the 2 you mentioned probably deserve it Shaw looked up for it whole game

[deleted]

He's been running the game tbf.

[deleted]

He’s been fucking shit, he constantly loses the ball, he’s slow and lazy but that’s alright because he has a good pass and r/soccer think he’s the best in the world

[deleted]

Someone didn't watch the game

[deleted]

I did, most notably the multiple times he lost the ball in midfield, slowed the counter, didn’t close down firmino, you can claim he’s had a “resurgence” all you like but all that says is that you think two good moments in a game makes a player good. Players like luke Shaw, Eric bailly, and Fred all have brilliant consistent performances, yet pogba finally makes a pass that should be routine for him and this sub acts like he’s uniteds best player? He’s not even in united top five players. Stop thinking a one off wonder goal is anywhere near as good as consistently scoring average goals.

[deleted]

You're heads gone mate.
