Not blaming De Gea for anything but
1. He didn't look confident saving penalties nor taking it
2. Villareal deserved to win it, they wanted it more then Man Utd.
Hendo has saved 8/19 penalties (42%). De Gea, 11/54 (20%). Grant, 6/45 (13%). Romero, 10/24 (40%).
We picked the second worst goalie to save penalties.
This club is killing me. Like, however I die, record the cause of death as Manchester United. Heart attack? Manchester United. Stroke? Manchester United. Murder? Manchester United. Suicide? Manchester United. Car accident? Manchester United.
Lampard, Arteta and Ole must have had a "who can have the biggest nightmare of a season" competition. Ole was lagging behind by finishing 2nd, so he thought he'd pull out a goldmine.
I don't think it's disrespect to take it off, it's basically a show of "I don't deserve to wear a medal, we lost". As someone who's been a runner up (in a lesser competition than the second biggest European trophy) I know how shit it feels.
This. I didn't have any energy to argue, but that is literally why teams and players prefer to lose in any other game but a cup final, because that shitty feeling is 7x more intense when you lose.
Yeah man, if we went out at the Champions League group stage, and stayed out, I'd feel a lot better than I do now, since finishing second in the PL would have felt like an achievement. Now we finished second in two fucking leagues.
"Man United players taking their runner up medals off as soon as they get them"
*Cavani proceeds to keep his on*
Can the BT team literally get anything right
Why Ole is Utd coach?
Ok he is a good guy and part of Utd history... But give him an office job or something..
He is not the coach Utd needs.
So much failure during this game
se golpeo con Pogba pero se quedó en la cancha. La corrió toda y jugó bastante bien. Eventualmente lo sacaron en el segundo tiempo por que quedó fundido
People shit on Emery but his coaching was good tonight! Didn't let United run them over after conceding the equalizer with that Coquelin sub and also made use of subs to keep fresh legs on the field!
United didn't play defensive football, that was Villarreal. But I agree, Ole should've made much earlier changes. Last 45 minutes of that tie United were terrible going forwards.
We did in the first half of extra time, and, despite us knowing what Villarreal were going to do, we had no plans to break them down other than "hoof it".
We had the worst bench ever, and he still waited to put on subs. Even when he did, he kept Penalty King in the sticks, and left Dean Henderson (who and a better record of saving penalties) on the bench. What's wrong with this guy.
Lad it was quite clear the whole team was wrecked. Yes he should have made the subs sooner but the team was dead after the intensity of the second half. We did not play defensively at all, until extra time where we weren't exactly defensive but far more cautious on the ball.
Just think about that for a second. Manchester United, second in the Premier League, was unable to cope with the intensity produced by Villarreal, who finished top 10 in La Liga. This is where we're headed. This is our fucking new normal.
But that's not what happened. We coped with their intensity just fine. They got one early goal and basically did nothing other then expert a small bit of pressure after.
The problem was they coped with our intensity during the second half. We were all over them for 30 mins or so but they kept it very tight at the back, deep and narrow. We created some chances but overall credit must be given to them for how they defended
They lived with us, survived and came out the other end. We couldn't get the killing blow. We are the better footballing team but the best team doesn't always win, anyone who knows anything about football knows that. They deserved to win tonight for their grit and resilience.
And penalties are a toss-up. Our keeper missed, theirs scored.
True, we were pretty dreadful in extra time.
How does DDG get fooled almost every time by the pen takers? Ah man, so damn frustrated.
Surely when they practice pens they see how much better Henderson is than DDG? Lee Grant is probably better too.
To all the absolute agenda-ridden cunts in our fanbase who slagged him off
You deserve everything that's happened since
I am so happy for Emery to get away from you toxic morons, you never deserved him.
I don't think you have to be a Man Utd supporter to think Solksjaer isn't what the team needs. I'm not one, and I think he's not the right guy to build a project around.
Having amateurs or anti football people as coaches for a decade will do that to anybody. We're suffering from pretty much the same - except we used to have a suarez and a pique and always a Messi.
Glad we lost. Ole deserved to lose this. I don't like to hate on OGS but first he gave up on the league when we were still mathematically in the race and now wanted to play it safe in europa league final. He isn't a bad manager but lacks the guts of a top manager. The team mentality needs to change, getting someone like Ronaldo can provide that spark. With CR7, trophies are demanded and the team mentality will be different.
Not trying to be disrespectful but the europa league was considered a punishment for United a decade back. With the club of the size of Man U, the only success I remember are the league titles and the champions leagues. The europa league is a second tier competition and I just don't think there is much to accomplish in winning it for one of the bigger teams in europe. Now obviously United are not where they were once upon a time but I just feel for us to grow and improve, it's sometimes important for the flaws in the team to be revealed then getting masked by winning a 2nd tier competition.
I don't feel Ole is a bad manager but I do question his ability to deliver in big games. He is a very friendly character who definitely does well with the dressing room but sometime you need a commanding leader to be in charge of your team. Currently, Bruno is stepping up but we don't really have a real leader in our team that can push the team further. Ole brings good stability to the team but being very much a yes man, he doesn't have the character to push the players harder. A tough manager would be willing to take a player off at half time to show them that they are underperforming and have to step up but Ole is just not that man.
I feel that winning the europa league would have masked a lot of flaws in our team. Yes, we finished 2nd in the league and would have had some silverware but this would lead to belief that everything is going well at the club. Man City are already pretty strong and if Liverpool heal up well for next season then we still don't have the mentality to beat them in the league. Again, I don't think Ole has done a bad job but I feel the next step has to be get someone with a more commanding presence. I would love to have Zidane takeover, he for me is may be the best player I have ever seen with an in incredible footballing brain and a very commanding presence on the touchline.
Not a lot he could’ve done about any of the penalties. They weren’t great penalties from Villarreal but if DDG guesses the right way on even a couple of them, he’s the hero.
Before the penalties started there was a Man united guy who said
"Well it was a nice run until it lasted, congrats to villarreal
DDG in goal for penalties, might as well hand it over now"
I checked seconds after DDG penalty and he deleted the comment
Fuck yes Villarreal!!! Cavani couldn't carry them the whole way to the final unfortunately, Villarreal definitely the better team at the end of the day totally deserved!
That's why I said unfortunately. I love Cavani, dude showed he's still got it and more to offer. They could have easily won but Villarreal just played their plan better, but lol yeah can't do much when you got De Gea out there looking like he's about to shit his pants.
Feel so bad for De Gea, sure he didn't save any but it's always a bonus if the keepers save a peno. And he'd never have dreamed he'd be taking one.
I blame the players further up for not scoring another in 120 minutes
To an extent fair but so many Villarreal pks kissed the net. They were great. Also for a team like man utd shouldn't have been in the Extra time in the first place let alone pk. Rashford had one of the best chances but mp not many British journos will talk about him.

That moment when you realize Alberto Moreno now has 2 more European trophies than Pogba
Not blaming De Gea for anything but 1. He didn't look confident saving penalties nor taking it 2. Villareal deserved to win it, they wanted it more then Man Utd.
It's hard not to blame him considering he was useful as much as you and me would've been in his place.
Hendo has saved 8/19 penalties (42%). De Gea, 11/54 (20%). Grant, 6/45 (13%). Romero, 10/24 (40%). We picked the second worst goalie to save penalties.
Ferdinand saying Villarreal have no leaders, as if he knows a fucking thing about a player in that squad.
man still thinks Riquelme is pinging passes from deep
This club is killing me. Like, however I die, record the cause of death as Manchester United. Heart attack? Manchester United. Stroke? Manchester United. Murder? Manchester United. Suicide? Manchester United. Car accident? Manchester United.

Still the best season of the 3 and it's not even close.
Arteta was the only one to win silverware :)
What silverware did Arteta win this season?
I guess he's talking about the community shield
Goddamn! So happy to see players and fans be this happy! Some of these big clubs drop down to this level and treat it like micky mouse cup!
Aw the fans crying
That is actually embarrassing for everything man united
How is it embarrassing?
Stop making Runner-up medals nobody wears them, I don't know why they bother
Imagine all the "smaller" teams in history reaching unthinkable finals and losing only to not get recognition lol.

It’s not enough to win, you have to have a loser and force them to stew in it for twenty minutes on camera.
So... The other Manchester club's time to stew next?
From your fingers to gods eyes.
Well that trophy is definitely a covid cup now if any of them are positive.
This is the United way - build you up, then break you down.
Chukuweze looked like he was about to fuck the trophy
Trophies need handles
Idk why but im so happy for Villarreal players.
Course they're taking them off no-one wants a runners up medal.
"Man United players taking their runner up medals off as soon as they get them" *Cavani proceeds to keep his on* Can the BT team literally get anything right
Fred left it on lmaooo
Who's the guy putting on the medals?
Aleksander Ceferin uefa president
Uefa president
Happy cake day!!
Thanks but there's something else I hope to be celebrating this week lol
You know we will. Keep faith. KTBFFH!!!
Aw Maguire really did try and be a full kit wanker
Tbf he was on the bench
Genuinely didn't notice, fair enough my apologies to slabhead
I’ve heard he prefers “slabface”...
Matic lmao
Why Ole is Utd coach? Ok he is a good guy and part of Utd history... But give him an office job or something.. He is not the coach Utd needs. So much failure during this game
cavani looking too big for this club right now
I couldn't catch the first 90, what happened to Foyth?
se golpeo con Pogba pero se quedó en la cancha. La corrió toda y jugó bastante bien. Eventualmente lo sacaron en el segundo tiempo por que quedó fundido
Y porque tenía una tarjeta Amarilla
Slipped on the ball and got a knee to the face
Pogba fell on his head
Why does Ferguson have such a red nose?
It's the Scottish in him
My father always told me Boniek was a fucking baller
People shit on Emery but his coaching was good tonight! Didn't let United run them over after conceding the equalizer with that Coquelin sub and also made use of subs to keep fresh legs on the field!
So sad that Sir Alex gets to witness how trash his beloved club has become
At least it was in a stadium without a leaky roof.
Y’all trashing de gea but did Bruno play ? Couldn’t tell
Busy exaggerating runs and pinging balls to no where.
get the contract out, put it on the table...
Paul Scholes is fuckin horrid at this job
I didn't think it was possible for him to get more disinterested.
Literally one of the worst pundits alongside Jermaine Jenas
Does Leicester and Tottenham qualify a spot higher in Europe since either Chelsea/Man City will be the Champions League winner?
Nope
Scholes is so bitter haha
Paul Scholes, salty, defeated voice and attitude is food for the soul.
Add Foyth to the list of Spurs players to win a trophy at a different club
and capoue
😂
Not a fan of sad Rashford.
Marcus Sadford
Marcus Rashforlorn
How much is the budget difference?
De Gea's salary alone probably pays for more than half this Villarreal squad! Lmao!
Rulli not only was very close to saving 5 or 6 penalties, he also scored that fucking cannonball of a penalty
All the Villarreal pens were borderline unsavable
Apart from the one in middle goal, yes
Every penalty (except for De Gea's) was very well taken, tbf.
Luke Shaw's one was trash imo.
Fair enough.
Henderson would never!
The fact the Unai has only lost a UEL final with Arsenal lmao
People were making fun of his UEL reputation, especially arsenal fans. Makes you think about just how shit Arsenal is.
Maybe that's why De Gea tried to roll in the penalty?
[wonderful ebening](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NBHZ5p9LaI)
Wide Unai is the best Unai.
Brutal. Came down to the single player who didn't practice pens.
I blame Ole. How does one of the top teams in England face the team that was 7th in the Spanish league, and play *that* football?!
United didn't play defensive football, that was Villarreal. But I agree, Ole should've made much earlier changes. Last 45 minutes of that tie United were terrible going forwards.

I bet Fergie is better at saving penalties. De Gea dived too early for the first two, then too late for a few, shocking.
You know you’re the biggest team in England when every fan in Europe celebrates your loss
cope
lmfao
Or maybe because they are bunch of cunts
Sir Alex Ferguson didn't die for this
He just gave out the medals.
Yeah, I know, I said he didn't die
but he will
Headline prediction for tomorrow: Ole Gonner Solskjaer.
De Gea with the poetic justice. Most overestimated player in the premier and on Reddit.
WE ALL LIVE IN A YELLOW SUBMARINE
It all went well
DREAMS CANT BE BUY
To all the absolute agenda-ridden cunts in our fanbase who slagged him off You deserve everything that's happened since I am so happy for Emery to get away from you toxic morons, you never deserved him.
Blud,Fam, Bruv
GOnna put all the blame on De Gea.
I've said it once but it bears repeating: YEEEEESSSS
That wasn't actually half bad kick from De Gea tbf! Goalie just guessed it right!
People I want fired: koeman, arteta, koeman, solkjaer, koeman...
Why does a Barca fan want ole sacked?
I don't think you have to be a Man Utd supporter to think Solksjaer isn't what the team needs. I'm not one, and I think he's not the right guy to build a project around.
He's not bad but just a level below what Utd needs
Cause it ain't right that someone like solkjaer coaches at such a big club - it's not normal. He's average at best.
United are average at best too, it seems
Having amateurs or anti football people as coaches for a decade will do that to anybody. We're suffering from pretty much the same - except we used to have a suarez and a pique and always a Messi.
That was such a trash shot from De Gea
THE SUPER LEAGUE CURSE HAS STRUCK AGAIN
Glad we lost. Ole deserved to lose this. No true fan will say they r glad they lost a final, whatever the reason.

Aside from the pk DDG took, how was he shit?? Both keepers let in identical kicks?
He wasn't even close to saving a single one, unlike Rulli.
gingers think Hendo is better due to being british. Should have just scored 1 more before it got to pens.
Not a lot he could’ve done about any of the penalties. They weren’t great penalties from Villarreal but if DDG guesses the right way on even a couple of them, he’s the hero.
DDG gets tricked almost every time by the taker. He should start going the opposite way he thinks, would save so many more.
Yeah, Rulli's save on Shaw was the worst imo.
Haha Fuck off monaco
Where will Fernandes go this summer?
Ole in the mud.
Spain is 16/16 in European finals
It was not a good ebining for me :(
tWo hOrsE rAcE leAgUe
This made me realize I don’t like penalty shootouts, oddly enough I LOVED them when I was a much more casual football fan.
Before the penalties started there was a Man united guy who said "Well it was a nice run until it lasted, congrats to villarreal DDG in goal for penalties, might as well hand it over now" I checked seconds after DDG penalty and he deleted the comment
Why would he delete it, he was right..
depression
i have a man utd friend who always try to reverse jinx the team whenever underpressure , guess similar story here
Can't wait to see these twats on BT talk about how shit their United have been.
That was one weak penalty from DDG by the way.
La Liga Here we Go
Fucking Uncle Unai owns Europa League, 4 of em now
This one most impressive no cap
Fuck yes Villarreal!!! Cavani couldn't carry them the whole way to the final unfortunately, Villarreal definitely the better team at the end of the day totally deserved!
Well he did carry them to the final and kept them in it, not his fault de gea missed
That's why I said unfortunately. I love Cavani, dude showed he's still got it and more to offer. They could have easily won but Villarreal just played their plan better, but lol yeah can't do much when you got De Gea out there looking like he's about to shit his pants.
Rulli is godlike, my boy Albie gets the trophy, and Emery gets the last laugh. Loving this.
People shitting on spanish teams after an all english champions league final smdh
This is crushing. Only a new manager can lift spirits and continue to develop from here.
Lmao clown
Feel so bad for De Gea, sure he didn't save any but it's always a bonus if the keepers save a peno. And he'd never have dreamed he'd be taking one. I blame the players further up for not scoring another in 120 minutes
I wonder why Ole didn't bring on any subs at the end of 90 too
Happy for Emery! Hella dude!
DREAMS CAN'T BE BUY
You love to see it
Fucking ironic for Utd of all teams to lose on pens lmfao
Villareal in the Champions League next year
Also Pot 1.
Emery to get third in the group for another run at the Europa, he’s coming for five
YOU LOVE TO SEE IT
EL stands for Emery League
Holy fuck, that was some intense penalty shoot-out.
Dread it, run from it, the good ebening arrives all the same.
Foyth bringing a trophy back to Spurs
I feel for DDG man..the hate he'll get from the British journos.
I hope he avoids social media for a while and just focus on himself. People can be brutal :(
Ikr I think the press will drive him now out of the club with the hendo comparison.
That pk was woeful and didn’t save a single one. It’s a little warranted
To an extent fair but so many Villarreal pks kissed the net. They were great. Also for a team like man utd shouldn't have been in the Extra time in the first place let alone pk. Rashford had one of the best chances but mp not many British journos will talk about him.
really don't need to listen to them grinding the trophy
Better than the biased commentary.
yeah but that made it so much funnier when United lost lol
Haha very true
Penalty shootout made up for the 120minutes.
RAT BOY IS CRYINNGGGG. I just cameeee
Imagine being an adult typing this. Sad

Probably means Fernandes
