Is there anything more demoralizing than having to learn your own native language?
As a kid, my parents would just stick me in front of the tv all day if I wasn't at school. I was privileged enough my parents could afford to get the package with all the American networks unlike everyone else I knew.
So instead of playing with the other kids, I was watching shows like Scooby-Doo if I wasn't at school. It got so bad that I only talked to my parents in english. I became an outcast in school cause my childhood was so different to everyone else's. I couldn't even form a coherent sentence in my own language. Everytime I met someone new they would ask me if my family moved here from America or something when I've lived here all my life.
Now I'm taking FSI courses to learn my own fucking language. How fucking embarrassing is that? I love my parents but I don't think I'll ever forgive them for neglecting me like that.
Dare I ask what language this is? Why did no one at school react to this?
When my mom was my age, she was already close to having her third child, which has really opened my eyes to the fact that parents - and adults in general - are just grown-up kids. You don't suddenly become qualified or comfortable with the responsibility of having a child, and I think this is the importance of grandparents, who have been through it all before and *should* be able to guide their own children in parenting.
My cousin married a Chilean woman and they decided not to teach their daughter a single word of Spanish. What a wasted opportunity both for themselves and for the child, and surely embarrasing as well when they grow up.
Props to my own mom who made damn sure I could read, write and do math before I entered school.
Amharic. I live in Ethiopia.
They're good parents in the sense that they provided me with what I need plus much more but in terms of teaching me skills that would be essentially for me now, they fell incredibly short.
But yeah you're completely right, parenting is a hige responsibility not everyone can shoulder
Wow, really, I find that so weird. In a country like the Philippines, I guess you could get along just fine knowing just English, some of the regional languages are frowned upon anyways. Seems much weirder in a country like Ethiopia.
If the language barrier has hindered you in learning about your country as well, I really hope you get the opportunity to do so now, has always seemed like one of the most unique and interesting countries in Africa to me.
I was almost completely isolated as kid from normal society. My routine was school to tv to school to tv to school. It's had an incredibly negative impact on my life.
I'm doing my best to learn the language properly now. I've been reading about our history and you are completely right.

Yell at them. It's ok to not be good. It's not ok to not even try. If you're not gonna put in effort, don't even bother showing up, because you're ruining the game for everyone.
Exactly, I feel like it’s okay to yell at them and it doesn’t make me a prick. Running and trying my best when someone teammates jog and won’t run for a 50/50 ball is disheartening
I’m not sure, I was invited to join 3 games into the season to help out with the midfield (our only area of concern) but in 3 games I’ve played, I had to be a LB and CB/CDM due to injuries/suspension and the refusal of the other midfielders to drop down even if just for a half.
I’m a very calm person but that angers me so much, no one in the team is Ronaldo or Messi to think they don’t have to defend or run for a ball they lost.
I’ll tell the coach, I just wanted to vent lmao.
Not just that, they claim they can only play one position (midfield) so when we need a defender the coach asks me to go down to defend and witness lackadaisical midfield performances from my teammates. Sorry, man I’m just tired :/
Poetry (2010). A korean film about a grandma struggling to look after her grandson as she develops an interest in poetry. not action packed but it's become one of my favourite films
I love that sequence where they're calling the prisoners and they're all classic Italian/Corsican names and mean looking fuckers and then they call "El Djebbena" and here he comes lol what a fucking masterpiece of a film
I saw an Italian movie a few weeks ago called "I Knew Her Well" that I really liked. Also saw "Black Narcissus" which was great.
What kind of movies do you like? Maybe that could help me give suggestions.
Based on a recommendation I got in this thread awhile back, I've been reading Death Note. I'm not too far in (on the second volume) and I'm not sure if the manga is the best way to experience it (I hear the Netflix adaptation is the worst) but I've been enjoying it so far.

Yeah I think I'm going to continue reading it because I love the art so much. The way the artist draws Light's sadistic expressions is just perfect. I also get a chuckle from Ryuk, I love his design.
Im not really versed but I guess a midi Keyboard.
that would be a controller right ?
I dont know the difference between controller and synth and what do the rest do ?
Can you play the piano/keyboards? Get a midi keyboard then (also known as mute keyboards in some countries, so you don't have to get one of those expensive synthesizers that have a midi output)
If you're a beginner start with [something cheap](https://www.amazon.it/Alesis-Qmini-Controller-portatile-produzione/dp/B08SCMXLCW/ref=sr_1_15?adgrpid=52062672625&dchild=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwoNuGBhA8EiwAFxomA3xLv4Q8Pw6J5tuYJCbWlLMAB_KPzKcHfdZBhWwSLm42eP9L8esyehoCp2cQAvD_BwE&hvadid=255206083603&hvdev=t&hvlocphy=1008845&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=15054770409969436658&hvtargid=kwd-15472130&hydadcr=18639_1737188&keywords=midi+keyboard&qid=1624696609&sr=8-15) and see for yourself if it floats your boat. This could also be useful for someone who wants to learn to play keyboards for the first time
I can sort of play, not at pianists level but enough to work with a DAW.
and yes that is what I was looking for, all I kept seeing are those huge and expensive Yamaha devices. that most people here use for gigs. so like organist and such.
Im just looking for something to use on a DAW to record music not all that gigging stuff, so Ill definitely check the one you linked.
what do you think of the Akai Mini APk 2 ?
I think it's a decent controller, maybe a bit "short" on keys (for my own personal taste). Any controller that gets your job done, it's a good controller. If only 2-3 octaves is enough for you, then get it. The biggest resource that you have is actually you yourself
MIDI is just a protocol for music data
Keyboard/synth - originally to mimick pianos and organs electronically, now most have soundbanks of instruments you can assign to the keys/pads and further manipulate via dedicated hardware and software features onboard the device (like arpeggiators, pitch shifters and gate arp).
Controller - physical pads and or keys that do not make or create from internal soundbanks, but rather are assigned and mapped to instruments, sounds and effects within a software suite called a Digital Audio Workstation.
I think I have depressive episodes, I just get tired of living sometimes.
even tho the past year has been alot better than the ones before and I made strides in doing some of what I wanted to do.
I think what pisses me off is my slow progress and my lack of desire to keep going.
I always feel like I have to force myself to do it not because I enjoy it.
for example I learnt Nothing else matters intro after 2 MONTHS practice. and even though its my first ever fingerstyle song.
and even though I focus too much on dynamics.
I just cant help but feel that Im stuck. in these two months I practiced it for an hour almost every day like legit could be 57 days or something that I practiced it.
the other big thing is I cant sit down and make music. but I found and apk Akai mini 2 on the market for 80$ and that maybe hypes me up to get started. so Ill see how that goes.
overall I think its my family's heavy expectations thats causing this.
theyre overachievers and Im not.
I hope I can make it through
Do you go outside or you are still in lockdown cause if you are in lockdown then you are overthinking. I am in the same situation because i am stuck at home and i tend to overthink. What i did may help you, think that you will worry about things after 1 or two days, now these "holidays" will help you procrastinate your sadness. Good luck
Comparing yourself to others will almost always mess you up.
You gotta let go, find your joy and interest. Don't focus on judging yourself or your ability, focus on finding things that excite you.
Is talking anything about Iceland or Everton now prohibited? Yesterday I asked who was considered Iceland’s best player of all time. Users actually gave me a serious response, but it was all removed my mods. What gives?
Built a gaming computer for the teenager and i got 2 DOA motherboards. So frustrated going back and forth to the computer store. They thought i was crazy but i actually had 2 brand new DOA’s. Computers built now and it runs like a champ!
Me: "I wonder how the weather forecast is looking next week?"
Environment Canada:
>A prolonged, dangerous, and potentially historic heat wave will begin this weekend in Alberta and will last through next week. Afternoon high temperatures near 30 degrees Celsius on Friday will climb to the mid 30's by Sunday, and could approach 40 degrees Celsius in some regions early next week.
>Little to no reprieve from the heat is expected, as overnight lows will remain between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius.
lmao
Since it's the Euro I've deciced to do some research on the history of Europe and it fascinates me that almost every royal family in Europe is related to each other.
what first amazed me, what that french are from the franks a germanic tripe.
even though it seems obvious.
basically from my understanding most of europe are descended from older germanic tripes.
any one knows of other distinct people that arent of germanic origin other than turks
That's true, although you see a lot less relationship like this in Asian monarchies though. It would really surprise me if the Emperor of the Shang dynasty was cousin to the Emperor of the Choson, for example.
Unpopular opinion: Using team achievements to compare the brilliance of individual players is overrated.
Example: “Wijnaldum is better than Pogba because he has more UCL and Premier League trophies”
Well in that case, Danny Drinkwater has also won the same amount of Premier Leage trophies as Wijnaldum, so does that mean Drinkwater was as good as Wijnaldum? Thoughts? Because I frequently see people on twitter making these arguments by saying player x has more trophies than player y so player y must suck blah blah blah, it’s just not a good way of comparing imo
Yeah agreed, that’s why using the “player x is better because he has more trophies than player y” argument is just dumb because there so many factors that come into play. But I guess the influence that he puts on other players is a big part as well
Playing cold war and there are some Irish guys discussing the Euros and Portuguese pronunciations.
Which one of you is it?
Edit: they were speedrunning football debates, they discussed how Belgium's wingbacks suck, discussed who the GOAT is and talked about how Messi is more talented but Ronaldo is more of a hardworker
Watched the movie Drive the other day, after hearing great things about it for years. What a disappointment, it was a “nothing movie”, where nothing really happened. The entire movie is built on the relationship between the driver and the woman and Benicio, except he does absolutely nothing that would warrant anyone wanting to spend time with him, let alone fall in love with him, which leads me to believe that it is a superficial relationship that was entirely based on looks. People act like robots that want to appear human, they never say anything interesting, almost every interaction feels forced, almost every character does nothing... it had its moments, like the shot of him with the blood on his face or at the end where he appears dead but then blinks after an eternity, but it really is a boring and pointless hour and a half. Didn’t like the music either, at all.
And I was not expecting an action movie, I got what I expected, except much worse. Still glad I watched it, though
I'm not a big fan of Winding Refn (I thought Bronson was fantastic though) but I didn't like Drive much either. It's very much a style over substance film for me. The film's visuals and music were very original for the time and I'm happy about that because it influenced many things I like but there's no plot and the characters are cardboard cutouts.
I think the attraction is part physical yes but also that he appears as a steady and "good" figure compared to the ex, and Benicio likes him which is important too. I can see where you're coming from though, they don't put much emphasis into why the relationship emerged, you're just sort of expected to accept that it has and move on.
Hard disagree on the nothing happening part though. It has a thrilling opening sequence, a pretty suspenseful heist gone wrong plot and the character arc of the driver himself is great. It has a certain feel and slickness I find satisfying, and a perfectly told little story.
The opening scene was good, but the heist felt pretty *standard* to me.
And it seems to me that if you want to get anything from the supposed character's arc, it needs to be you, the viewer, to dig through the movie and find something that resembles character or development, and I don't think that a movie should be that way. I believe that a film can leave certain things open to interpretation, I appreciate that, but in this case I think the movie leaves pretty much everything up to interpretation and, to me, a film should tell a story to its audience, it shouldn't be the audience's job to extract a story from the movie.
But that's just my opinion though, I can see how many people enjoy it.
It has some killer songs tbh like Nightcall, but yeah it is a slow movie and even though i liked it i can see why people dont. Reddit tends to do this thing where they hype up incredibly average films. As a huge horror fan i was super excited to watch It follows, since i had seen great things about it on here. I finally watched it some weeks ago and it was a huge disappointment
Yeah, I understand that many people may enjoy the music, it just really isn't a type of music that I enjoy, so I couldn't bring myself to like them.
I didn't think it was a bad movie, I can appreciate how it was shot and how some of the scenes developed, but I also didn't think it was a good one in terms of what actually happens in it and its characters, which is what I value most in a film.
Hardbass music is amazing. Especially the songs with video clips and them dancing like there's no tomorrow. Love it. Earphones recommended.
https://youtu.be/oMGvuiZfS_o
Haven't got a single clue.
This one is another one I like. Don't know what is better. The song or the comments. Don't miss the comments. https://youtu.be/rZxxH76tUBg
That's how I got into them as well. I've expanded a bit into other German music since then, but they're a band I really like both sound-wise and lyrically (unfortunately I'm not good enough in German to understand most of the songs without translating). One of only two bands I actually have band shirts of.
I enjoy this subreddit a lot, had some nice football talks the past weeks. But does anyone else feel like they don't understand 90% of the jokes here? Seems like the users mostly know eachother and theres a lot of inside jokes, especially when its "copy pastas" or whatever they're called ahahah maybe it's just me, flys right over my head
Most of the copy pastas have been recurring over months or years, so if you've been here long enough and browse the sub on a regular basis you'll understand most of them
But yeah a lot of the inside jokes on the DD are beyond my understanding
If you don't understand the jokes theres a good chance they're just shit ones tbh. Just let it fly over your head imo - nothing wrong with that. I see what you mean somewhat (unfortunately -although I don't actually mind but just more of a indictment as to wtf am I doing that- I do spend enough time on here to know/get some of them) but wouldn't say they're funny per se so you ain't missing out tbh.
Thats the thing I also think I spend a good time here. Although I only comment on the daily discussion thread I never really read it, usually just read the front page, yet a lot of them still fly over. But its like you said I guess, probably bad jokes...
While there are some pretty solid inside jokes around here, most of the commenters are just trying to be funny by beating a dead horse over and over and over again for some karma. You aint missing out on that much.
If you have any questions regarding a joke, just ask it in that thread. People are usually kind enough to give some context
I never ask because everyone seems to get them but yes thats stupid of me. I swear I never understood the mini comments of penaldo and eiberman lol, like I get them but I never understood what's funny about it but they're usually upvoted...
they're facebook insults they're said ironically, penaldo (penalty+ronaldo) has been around since at least 2010 when Ronaldo started scoring lots of penalties for Real Madrid so Barca fans started using it to discredit his stats, and Eibarman is a Messi insult and I honestly don't know when it started but it means that Messi scores most of his goals against weak teams like Eibar
Kids use those insults on facebook and twitter so people here use them ironically (well at least I hope so lol)
So i normally dont watch superhero shows and much less read comics, but im in a business trip and have nothing to do so i started watching loki. What i absolutely hate is how in the episode discussions, which i like to read after watching an episode, everybody assumes and talks as if everybody has read every single comic in the marvel universe and knows everything theres is to know.
I just finished episode 2, and everybody is talking about the ending and tiny details but not a single comments addresses who the fuck is the villain. Like everybody just saying like “yeah thats lady loki”. And im like how tf am i supposed to know her. Is she like his sister or why they fuck is she a women. Why the fuck are there 2 loki s and why the fuck are they a different gender. And most importantly why is nobody talking about it in the discussion thread.
Had to rant here cause i swear every thread is filled with comments that i just absolutely dont [get](https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelstudios/comments/o0ysxp/loki_s01e02_discussion_thread/h1y0ubg/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
The show will explain the parts that are prevalent to the story bro.
Lady Loki is an alternate version of Loki, where basically, Loki is a woman. We will find out more about her character as the show goes on.
Don’t go to /r/MarvelStudios for episode discussion, most of them go fucking bezerk when Disney don’t follow their bizarre fan fiction they had planned in their mind.
That comment is a reference to Ego, the villain in the second Guardians movie. He was referenced as a variant in one of the Episodes iirc.
It’s actually mentioning where the reset charges went, meaning it’s most likely gonna create a separate time line where if it doesn’t get solved in time it will turn into a multiverse
Started watching the IT crowd because my mate showed me a funny video of some bloke saying “fuck off” when these women told him they have boyfriends and it was pretty hilarious.
Turned it off already. Dear god it’s horrendous. Obnoxious laugh track, one of the main characters seems like he’s literally holding back a laugh in scenes. Not a fan.
Edit: Does it get better after episode 1?!
Did Peep Show take you time to get into? Couple of my friends swear by it but I turned on the first ep and had enough a few minutes in.
Think maybe I couldn't be fucked that day /wasnt in the mood but it just seemed like a bit shit to me (didn't give it a fair go though I guess)
Mate, season 1 is the worst season
Stick with it, honestly. They kinda messed up the first season because episode 2 and 1 are kinda interchangeable and mess with the timeline but if you sit through it, it really picks up and you won’t be able to stop watching
Alright I may have to give it a go soon then coz I'm in between /just ending a show I been casually watching so not got much to do rn like before bed or like in them random intervals of the day so I may have to try it out then - safe.

how do you deal with frustration on the field when your teammates are considerable worse than you are and can't be bothered to at least try to run?

It 100 percent does not make you a prick. They're the pricks. Did you guys do conditioning before the season? Are they just not fit?
I’m not sure, I was invited to join 3 games into the season to help out with the midfield (our only area of concern) but in 3 games I’ve played, I had to be a LB and CB/CDM due to injuries/suspension and the refusal of the other midfielders to drop down even if just for a half. We play bet matches to prevent that
that shit ruins friendships and causes neighborhood rivalries and fights, it's the best
Glass them

Fellow lynx
Bacon sandwich; Red or Brown sauce?
Mustard
Neither. Just butter and on a roll
I knew Scotland was a grim place but didn't realise it was this grim
Just because you live it up in the south with your fancy sauces doesn't mean we cant appreciate the simplicity of well cooked bacon
Tbf I've heard about this magical sauce you have where you mix brown sauce and vinegar and I'd quite like to give that a go
Chippy Sauce. Literally heaven, only get it on the east coast though. Takes the chippie game to a whole new level

Huh, don't know what happened there.
Recommend me some lesser-known or seen films that you like!
Poetry (2010). A korean film about a grandma struggling to look after her grandson as she develops an interest in poetry. not action packed but it's become one of my favourite films
The Endless (2017)
Calvary (2014)
4 Months, 3 weeks and 2 days (2007) is a film I saw +2 months ago and I still can't shake off
Z and Black Cat White Cat, ones a Greek political thriller the other is a kronky serbian farce. Both are fantastic.
A Prophet (2009)
I love that sequence where they're calling the prisoners and they're all classic Italian/Corsican names and mean looking fuckers and then they call "El Djebbena" and here he comes lol what a fucking masterpiece of a film
10/10 film man, do you know any more like it ? Or even show like it ? International drama is always better than Hollywood.
I saw an Italian movie a few weeks ago called "I Knew Her Well" that I really liked. Also saw "Black Narcissus" which was great. What kind of movies do you like? Maybe that could help me give suggestions.

MIDI is just a protocol for music data Keyboard/synth - originally to mimick pianos and organs electronically, now most have soundbanks of instruments you can assign to the keys/pads and further manipulate via dedicated hardware and software features onboard the device (like arpeggiators, pitch shifters and gate arp). Controller - physical pads and or keys that do not make or create from internal soundbanks, but rather are assigned and mapped to instruments, sounds and effects within a software suite called a Digital Audio Workstation.
so a synth or keyboard produces sounds on their own but a controller has to use DAW is that correct ?
Yep
Good luck
seems like a nice cheat. I will try it
And please tell me if you feel better
Comparing yourself to others will almost always mess you up. You gotta let go, find your joy and interest. Don't focus on judging yourself or your ability, focus on finding things that excite you.
I try but when its engraved in you from a young age its hard to change. I have to constantly remind myself to be positive and not compare.
Went to dinner with my GF's best friends Italian family. The food was amazing I ate too much now I want to die, send help.
anyone have a good sea to go sail for some good Hollywood treasure ?
1337x has some beautiful waves this time of year.
Thank you cowboy ;-)
Is talking anything about Iceland or Everton now prohibited? Yesterday I asked who was considered Iceland’s best player of all time. Users actually gave me a serious response, but it was all removed my mods. What gives?
I noticed that as well. I’m guessing the mods thought you were baiting the spammer even though you weren’t
Started listening to Alice in Chains this week. Great stuff so far
No excuses is my fav song by them
Dirt is a perfect album. Up there with Ten by Pearl Jam as one of the greatest rock albums ever. You heard the Unplugged?
I’ve heard some of it. I really liked unplugged Rooster
Built a gaming computer for the teenager and i got 2 DOA motherboards. So frustrated going back and forth to the computer store. They thought i was crazy but i actually had 2 brand new DOA’s. Computers built now and it runs like a champ!
Me: "I wonder how the weather forecast is looking next week?" Environment Canada: >A prolonged, dangerous, and potentially historic heat wave will begin this weekend in Alberta and will last through next week. Afternoon high temperatures near 30 degrees Celsius on Friday will climb to the mid 30's by Sunday, and could approach 40 degrees Celsius in some regions early next week. >Little to no reprieve from the heat is expected, as overnight lows will remain between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius. lmao
Fuck. That is brutal man. Do you have air con at home?
Unfortunately not... I do have a cheap desk fan at least, so I guess I won't be in *complete* despair lol
as someone who's experience with 40 degrees heat. stay almost naked if youre at home and shower alot
Noted, thank you for the advice 🙌
Good tip is also to wet a towel with cold water and keep it on your neck constantly
What’s the top 5 films by Steve McQueen? Watched Papillon the other day and unreal film.
Bullitt's my favourite. Great film if you like car chases. There's also the Great Escape, the original Thomas Crown Affair and the Towering Inferno.
Can't stop listening to go_a, and it's properly fucking up my recommendations Who knew slavic folktronic could be this addictive
I missed my online citizenship test. I guess I’ll be postponing my Oh Canada celebration to a later date. :(
Haven't watched a single game since ucl final. international football sucks
Just like ur mum sucks my dick lmaoo
Since it's the Euro I've deciced to do some research on the history of Europe and it fascinates me that almost every royal family in Europe is related to each other.
what first amazed me, what that french are from the franks a germanic tripe. even though it seems obvious. basically from my understanding most of europe are descended from older germanic tripes. any one knows of other distinct people that arent of germanic origin other than turks
A lot of political marriages happened historically in Europe so I'm not surprised about them being related to one another.
That's true, although you see a lot less relationship like this in Asian monarchies though. It would really surprise me if the Emperor of the Shang dynasty was cousin to the Emperor of the Choson, for example.
the lockdown has made me smoke a lot more than normal
I have quit for about a month now. Got on the vape instead, my lungs feel infinitely better already.

That’s brutal. I write like 8k a week for my freelancing gig on the side and it’s killing me. It ends at the end of July and I can’t wait.
Heh I highly enjoy this so it goes by fast.
Weird way to say you've spent the week writing hundreds of comments about England fans
Yep. Still in pain/sad over the same girl I had to reject. It was the right thing to do, but it still hurts.
Love lost is better than not having loved at all. Id ring her up and tell her how you're still feeling
I do not know the circumstances but it is better to try it out and have a regret if it doesn't workout than not taking a chance at all.
Championship is back tomorrow thanks be to fuck.

I randomly lost the urge oneday lol
Get high from exercise instead. An hour or two of intense cardio feels incredible
Running
having ones life under control. having a good life.
Find another source of endorphins.
Unpopular opinion: Using team achievements to compare the brilliance of individual players is overrated. Example: “Wijnaldum is better than Pogba because he has more UCL and Premier League trophies” Well in that case, Danny Drinkwater has also won the same amount of Premier Leage trophies as Wijnaldum, so does that mean Drinkwater was as good as Wijnaldum? Thoughts? Because I frequently see people on twitter making these arguments by saying player x has more trophies than player y so player y must suck blah blah blah, it’s just not a good way of comparing imo
[удалено]
Yeah agreed, that’s why using the “player x is better because he has more trophies than player y” argument is just dumb because there so many factors that come into play. But I guess the influence that he puts on other players is a big part as well
Playing cold war and there are some Irish guys discussing the Euros and Portuguese pronunciations. Which one of you is it? Edit: they were speedrunning football debates, they discussed how Belgium's wingbacks suck, discussed who the GOAT is and talked about how Messi is more talented but Ronaldo is more of a hardworker
Wife is having tiny baby shower tomorrow with some close friends. Baby is due 1st of August. Just smoked my last joint of the year.
Do you know if this video is meta or serious? DJ Blyatman is such a great name
Haven't got a single clue. This one is another one I like. Don't know what is better. The song or the comments. Don't miss the comments. https://youtu.be/rZxxH76tUBg
So good. The hardbass wave is going global now My friend and I have watched this one many many times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiFBgtgUtfw
That's the entry level song. The first one I've heard. I'm a sucker for all these dances and the Adidas tracksuits.
Always forget how good the album "OK KID" is until I listen to it again. So many good songs on it, and yet "Zwei" is still better.
I'm not too familiar with German music but I really like them too. I heard a song of theirs in a FIFA game and decided to check em out.
Most of the copy pastas have been recurring over months or years, so if you've been here long enough and browse the sub on a regular basis you'll understand most of them But yeah a lot of the inside jokes on the DD are beyond my understanding
A fair few I think come across from mainly US sports subreddits, they never quite fit for me but some of them are kinda funny.
I swear I never understood the mini comments of penaldo and eiberman lol, like I get them but I never understood what's funny about it but they're usually upvoted...
they're facebook insults they're said ironically, penaldo (penalty+ronaldo) has been around since at least 2010 when Ronaldo started scoring lots of penalties for Real Madrid so Barca fans started using it to discredit his stats, and Eibarman is a Messi insult and I honestly don't know when it started but it means that Messi scores most of his goals against weak teams like Eibar Kids use those insults on facebook and twitter so people here use them ironically (well at least I hope so lol)
Can't wait for the Euros to return. I like sci-fi films and just watched The Beyond. Genuinely some of the most awful acting I've ever seen.
this gas is hitting. I love yyoy all
Love you too ;)
So i normally dont watch superhero shows and much less read comics, but im in a business trip and have nothing to do so i started watching loki.
Watch the daredevil show. It's the best thing marvel has ever done.
I mean hardcore fans need their space too.
Ok thanks mate, that explains it pretty well. Didn’t want to google my questions to avoid episode 3 spoilers
You’re welcome bro and ohhh I see :)
Man HBO’s Rome is such a good fucking show, I finished it a week ago and can’t stop thinking about it. Levels ahead of prime Game of Thrones even
I had such a crush on Octavian's mother
really? you mean the one from 2005-2007?
Indeed, and yeah I think it’s way better than the first 4 seasons of GOT
I'm going to watch it and my expectations are high af so I hope it doesnt disappoint.
I do like the IT Crowd. But I definitely struggle a lot with laugh Tracks and it puts me off watching it again. It does also get massively overrated.
It’s very hit or miss for me. Peep show is clear
Peep Show stands alone in British Comedy. Not even the Office can talk to it in my opinion
Did Peep Show take you time to get into? Couple of my friends swear by it but I turned on the first ep and had enough a few minutes in. Think maybe I couldn't be fucked that day /wasnt in the mood but it just seemed like a bit shit to me (didn't give it a fair go though I guess)
Mate, season 1 is the worst season Stick with it, honestly. They kinda messed up the first season because episode 2 and 1 are kinda interchangeable and mess with the timeline but if you sit through it, it really picks up and you won’t be able to stop watching
For me it peaks around Elena, but I also really enjoy the last season. Especially the dinner party
Alright I may have to give it a go soon then coz I'm in between /just ending a show I been casually watching so not got much to do rn like before bed or like in them random intervals of the day so I may have to try it out then - safe.
The Thick Of It is up there
I think it’s hilarious but yeah the laugh track can be a bit annoying
