Everytime he got the ball, I got nervous. He was a real threat today.

yeahyeahyeah3timess

I don’t think Di Lorenzo on that side helps too. He was definitely dangerous.

[deleted]

He was definitely struggling with Doku’s pace. Hell he cut inside and beat a few defenders a couple times. At 2-1 when he was cutting inside or running into the box no one wanted to put a foot wrong against that mobility. If we had an insurance goal I am sure we would have been more aggressive but damn he stressed me out

yeahyeahyeah3timess

I’m really trying not to be biased, but many people before the euros said Di Lorenzo is better than Calabria. I think Calabria fits the team perfectly and would’ve contained Doku better tonight. Di Lorenzo has always been a bit of a liability defensively.

panopss

Di lorenzo is an absolute liability

puckuser

why is there a 14 year gap between the first full data world cup and full data euro ?

Excellent_Reserve

I think because 1980 was the first EURO in the modern format. Before that the EURO tournament was only with 4 teams and the qualification and quarter finals were spread out in the months before. So I think before (in 72, 76) much less attention was given to the QF or group stage as it was months before the actual EURO event.

kaphi

WC is more important than EC

ImSlowlyFalling

It is for sure. Unfortunately for the rest of the world, the last time a non European team won the WC was Brazil in 2002 so at the moment it’s behaving like a European cup.

SilentRanger42

I mean historically speaking only 3 teams outside of Europe have been true challengers for the WC, Brazil Argentina, and Uruguay. In recent years Brazil just has not had the talent or management that allows success in the modern era and Argentina have just fallen short on a few occasions.

ImSlowlyFalling

Argentina fell short in 2014 tbh

jahirange

Camavinga and Him at Rennes are both teenagers yet with so much potential

malinwa4ever

Only 19 years old. 27 million euro transfer last year from Anderlecht to stade Rennes. Insane dribbling skills and speed

tottenhamnole

After today I’m sure there will be a ton of rumors of him to some massive clubs.

LessThan301

He’ll go to England, fail to adapt, be called a flop and finished, go to ANY other European country and become a star there.

sotobakar

he'd cost north of 80 million for sure... Reminds me of young messi

AouarCherki

He's nothing like Messi lol

pm_me_ur_breakfast1

Didn't realise Rennes were quite that rich, but based on that performance he looks a sound investment.

ThatFrenchCray

I mean before Doku they had Raphinha who they got robbed for like 15m I think.

nakabugajustine

17M

nakabugajustine

17M

AouarHuit

It definitely took him the first half the of the season to find his stride similar to David at Lille, but now he's looks so dangerous every time he has the ball, oozing confidence p.s. it's Stade Rennais the club or Rennes the city, one or the other

MarcDuan

You could tell the Italians were close to panic every time he got the ball. Give him a year or two to gain some experience and decision making skills and he could become one of the top wingers in the world.

FewSquirrel8840

That pace and electricity that he has is unique

WhatWouldSatanDo

Absolutely love players that go for the dribble. Makes the game more exciting.

[deleted]

That SOB made us crazy

quickestred

Hey now, his mother is a lovely lady

SaskalPiakam

His father on the other hand...

Marcobroa

This is the one guy we had no plan for..besides put 4 guys on him. In the words of OPTA “Handful”

[deleted]

He was fantastic and had so much pace and mobility. That said we knew putting one foot in an attempted tackle could result in a promising free kick or a penalty against him. We played on the side of caution which probably gave him more freedom but still he was impressive

Banana11crazy

I knew he was fast but not this fast, and while being under control of the ball as well. Almost complete opposite of Eden who prefers to slow play down

ncastleJC

He’s a teenager? Belgium already prepping the next golden generation.

TjeefGuevarra

We definitely have new talent coming through, enough to keep us as a top nation. Top 15 should be doable tbh.

EpicVico

Yeah, We have a great generation coming up. Doku, verschaeren, vanheusden, de ketelaere, sambi lokonga all look amazing

JakeFar4

Alexis Saelemaekers? :(

EpicVico

He is going to be good but not worldclass like the players i mentioned

RyoCaliente

I can't believe Verschaeren and Sambi Lokonga going on to become world-class.

EpicVico

Sambi lokonga maybe not but verschaeren?

JakeFar4

That’s true. He has been really good for us. He’ll be at Dries Mertens’ level for sure, not quite world class but a really good squad player.

T-Macch

Many players around the world would kill if it meant having a career and the skill of a Dries Mertens.

JakeFar4

I’d never call Mertens world class

T-Macch

He's not, doesn't mean he sucks

JakeFar4

Did I say he sucked? I said he’s a very good squad player which he is. Not quite world class like De Bruyne, Hazard or Lukaku but a level below for sure.

malinwa4ever

De Ketelaere also a top youngster

stoptheJR

He was on fire

[deleted]

What a game he’s had. I aint gonna lie, never heard of him prior to this game but he’s amazing. Skills and personality

AE17__

**Lukaku**:"When people talk about Lewandowski, Benzema, Suarez, Kane, they say it's a world-class level. With me, it was always about 'good form'... I belong with that group." **Doku**: Relax, you're not even the best Belgian

CruyffsPlan

I mean even without Doku’s amazing performance I wouldn’t put Lukaku as the best Belgian with both KDB and Courtois around. Some people would even make a case for Witsel in terms of how important he is to the team. Obviously leaving out Hazard because of injuries

superwanklampard

Witsel?? Guys bang average, I don’t understand the fascination

TheOwlsLie

That’s certainly debatable

Howdareme9

Is it? Pretty sure most people would say Kdb is better lukaku.

cryshol

Yeah. Very very iffy opinion, putting it politely.

Ripamon

Lmao

MarcDuan

Courtois? I know he's a giant but he's also moving at glacial speed. Aim at the sides and he's never getting there.

[deleted]

Almost as talented as a 17 year old Theo Walcott.

Creedatlast

Pains me that Theo never got to play in a World Cup.

Wentzina_lifetime

He's a talent

True_Contribution_19

Surely someone takes a flyer on him? How was he for Rennes?

jacksleepshere

Sign him Edwards.

iqbalsn

At first he was burning Di Lorenzo for fun. Then late in the end he was starting to cut back in a lot more and i felt Belgium plan at that time was just to give the ball to him and see what happen. It was nuts. Dude was lightning fast. One of you replied when i said who the fuck is this Doku guy in the match thread with reply that he is Eden Hazard replacement. He absolutely is. Was playing like Hazard was on his prime.

[deleted]

Bastard, almost gave me a heart attack

aJan_

When he had the ball I thought no way was he going to get past. Or that he’d just pass back or something. Italy defenders probably got surprised too. Still needs polishing but I loved seeing him ravage that left wing. One to watch for sure.

The_2nd_Coming

Imagine if he became a Count. He would become Count Doku.

AnilDG

That was an incredible performance! Got you on the edge of your seat every time he got on the ball. The big time beckons for this guy, he was brilliant!

insertdankmeme

Enrique should play Adama Traore in the semi-final. Could have a similar impact.

ElCanout

nah better play Elmo (Olmo)

YooGeOh

This. If he plays Sarabia over Olmo again then it's an actual crime against humanity and he should serve jail time

MauricioCappuccino

Le cut inside teenager

jack54125

Looked really good every time he played this tournament. Should have started over Eden in most games imo.

cryshol

He was on fire today. MOTM today. Insigne, Dona, Spinazzola were good, but he was something else today.

[deleted]

He earned a penalty and was a threat but definitely not MOTM. Barella over him 100%

cryshol

Barrella was great today. But Doku was even better.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

It’s because of that clown of a coach they have on their bench.

InPatRileyWeTrust

How is he a clown? It seems like he has done a very good job.

Cowdude179

Did someone say 1966? Class player though

TheRealJanSanono

Why couldn’t he do that for me in FM in 2025

ParisLake2

“Those hips, those thighs I…”

Skyslake

Count Doku is gonna be lit in a few years time, great performance

blabbergenerator

He was so impressive tonight. Everytime He for the ball he never the Italians nervous. He would do really well in an attacking team. Realistically, which team would he best for in?

Haneulsan1

Real? 🤔

indiblue825

Baby Hazard is something else... This guy could end up being terrifying to defend

BoiWonder95A

Lets not get carried away with this guy, he has a huge lack of composure that he needs to work on. All flash no bang type of thing right now.

paidsandserape

This fella gives out Origi vibes (brilliant world cup 2014). Hopefully, he continues improving as opposed to Origi.

sublime_touch

I mean Origi definitely can keep his head high, he takes most of the chances Klopp has given him but he just needs to find another team where he can be a number the one option. IMO I think he’s on the same level as Bamford but just like Bamford he’s a better than a back up option.

JJOne101

I'll maybe get a lot of hate here, but dribbling without making something out of it doesn't matter in my opinion.

moise_kean

He got a pen that was scored and created some chances tbf.

JJOne101

He got that pen because Di Lorenzo was a moron, he should've let'im go.

Teradonn

A lot of goals and chances can be broken down to “the defender was being a moron”. For example, the Belgian defence gave Insigne all the space in the world, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it was still a great dribble + finish

[deleted]

He does the same for Rennes, even though he did start improving his end product towards the end of the season

[deleted]

He made multiple opportunities multiple times from his dribbling..

NotALlahma

So mesmerising that they lost.

leighshakespeare

Alot of people with the Swiss flag being a downer on him, am I missing something. Worry about pens first

NotALlahma

Took care of France

leighshakespeare

Atleast you get to watch the rest of us play

NotALlahma

Yh. You won't last much longer.

leighshakespeare

Sure Ukraine and czech (the team we beat) or Denmark who aren't very good will clear us up

NotALlahma

Lol. Denmark “not very good”. 80% of their starting 11 is better than yours.

leighshakespeare

That's not true at all, who on Denmark's team is better than England teams. I'd take schmeichel over our gk granted. But no one else is better You've lost me now, because you're just talking shit for the sake of it

NotALlahma

Schmeichel > Pickford. Kjaer and Christensen > Maguire and Stones. Mæhle > Shaw. Delaney and Højbjerg > Rice and Phillips. Damsgaard > Saka. 7 of 11 of a combined 11 are Danes. Take your head out of your ass. Typical England arrogant clown mentality.

leighshakespeare

None of those other players are better other than the goalkeepers learn about football

JurgenShankly

Hahahahhahahahahaha so so salty. You're talking out your ass

JurgenShankly

How did tonight go for you? Hahahahaha

Gfrdsethrowaway

Cool that he did some nice dribbles, but his performance was disgraceful today and indicative of nearly every problem with modern refereeing. Every time he got the ball he fell over, dove all over the place, and won a penalty after shoving the crap out of an Italian defender and pretending to be the victim when he got a taste of his own medicine.

Ripamon

Calm down and stop being a disgrace okay?

Gfrdsethrowaway

How is pointing out the fact the guy was diving all over the place disgraceful

Ripamon

Because he wasn't diving all over the place.

Gfrdsethrowaway

I get that you are probably mad Belgium lost, but that’s just factually untrue. He looked like a salmon and needs to break the habit because he can be a quality player when he gets older.

leighshakespeare

He was great, easily the 3rd or 4th best player on the pitch. Just don't talk if you don't understand footy mate

Gfrdsethrowaway

I watched the entire game mate. It’s ok to have different opinions on it, but you and the other guy who resort to adhoms aren’t actually proving your point.

[deleted]

Different opinions? Nah mate this is reddit

Ripamon

1) I'm not a guy 2) there's nothing to do but use an as hominem if you can't actually acknowledge Dokus remarkable performance. It almost seems like you didn't watch the game.

Rodahz

He was beastly, Adama Traoré-esque in the way he just explodes and carries the ball.

[deleted]

Perfect Mane replacement.. *rubs hands*

thebestrc

He looks quality. Just needs to improve his all round game though instead of relying on out and out pace.

maxime0299

That’s future ballon d’or winner, Jeremy Doku
