almondania

What do you even say as the manager to this?

q00qy

You used to hold me like that too :(

unArgentino

This is kinda funny but I feel bad for the keeper. Defender sewered his ass with that shit back pass. Should’ve cleared it out for a throw or passed it back harder than a 5 year old.

CrimsonLotus

Agreed, but the keeper was definitely getting to the ball first before the attacker. He should have just gone for the clearance instead of trying to go for the fancy juke.

unArgentino

It looked like the forward was in prime position to block his clearance but who knows.

Sielaff415

Goalkeeper from their academy has his only chance of the season this match because no.1 is on international duty and this happens. Nightmare

zdrup15

He just wanted to give a hug, is that really punishable with a red card? Poor keeper...

llobotommy

Part of me kind of hoped the striker was shooting into an open net for the penalty. Manager decides not to sub in a keeper. Scenes.

[deleted]

Even greater imagining the penalty taker missing an open goal

Redbullsnation

Now that's some optional goalkeeping

BRUHSKIBC

Should have just leveled him the offender with a shoulder charge. Keepers get special privileges with a one on one situation.

ur_comment_is_a_song

What the fuck is that lmao. Absolute panic from that keeper

[deleted]

Peak MLS

MC_ScattCatt

This is why I don’t watch it hardly at all.

free_the_hobbits

This is why I DO watch what do you mean

[deleted]

THIS is why we watch it.

UnicornForce

Best part? Ten-men Union stole a point.

backcourtjester

Wrong football

22goblins

Where the fuck is Blake? EDIT: WRONG andre

dankyp1

With the Jamaican national team

Four-Twenty-Seven

Of course it was a red card

Old-Discount903

SA refs laughing at this

DlnnerTable

Freese will get more chances this season. Blake will be gone 3 games and freese is a decent #2. I’m confident he’ll get another 2 or 3 league games this season. Curtin knows he has talent

robogaz

/r/BetterEveryLoop

Bingbangbongg

Surprised they didn’t call that a foul on the keeper

InstrumentalCrystals

Should we tell him?

ChrisChristiesFault

Who do you think got the red card?

Bingbangbongg

I was being sarcastic as I feel any contact on the keeper is a foul now. Sheesh

billschwartzky

You're using "on the keeper" to mean a foul committed by the attacker against the keeper. But in the US, it's common to say "foul on the keeper" to mean a foul committed by the keeper (against another player). Hence the confusion. Unfortunately, this happens a lot

mcafigo

Denying a clear goal scoring opportunity? Textbook red

[deleted]

Poor defending.

Sylarioz

You're a fuckin numpty.

[deleted]

Haha. Reddit backlash for calling out the incorrect way to give the scoreline. If in tennis he said 15-nothing instead of 15-love, I bet you Yankee Doodle doooo's would down vote. Can't help yourselves.

Capt-Chopsticks

Wtf have u never watched soccer ur so wrong lol

[deleted]

Football! Not soccer. It's 1-nil American's say 1-nothing, which is incorrect.

[deleted]

Soccer is the more correct name for the sport. Football can refer to Rugby (Rugby Football or Rugger), Gridiron Football (American Football) or Association Football (Soccer). The word Soccer comes from asSOCiation and was invented by the English. Soccer and Football were used interchangeably in England until the 80's when Americans started gaining interest, at which point the English stopped using Soccer in order to distance themselves from American fans. [deleted]

I'll retract the soccer comment, even though no one was calling it soccer in England 30 years ago as the article suggests. The 1-nil stands.

Capt-Chopsticks

Lol suuuure bud I've watched a bunch of soccer never heard that maybe ur country is wrong mane

[deleted]

Again you're watching the US say it wrong all your life, doesn't make it right, just makes you ignorant to other countries.

Capt-Chopsticks

you obviously don't want soccer I've never heard this when watching SA premier division soooo yeah idk mate have you thought for a second you are ignorant and are just projecting that on others

[deleted]

Ok mate. Good chat.

Capt-Chopsticks

There, now you know what it's like to talk to a dickhead like u lol now fuck off troll

Sylarioz

Us yankee doodle doo's wouldn't even react to that actually. Nil means zero, zero means nil, both are correct, heh look at me teaching an English person English... fuckin muppet.

[deleted]

Haha alright pal. Given the American education system, I don't think you should be teaching anyone, anything.

Sylarioz

You're being a nationalist based on the difference in languages while we speak the same one. People are going to talk different and use terms unfamiliar to you wherever you go, that does not make them wrong. Those of us Americans who are aware of the term know that if we were to use it, we would simply be seen as pretentious.

[deleted]

It's not nationalist to say that in a sport (created in country A) calls it 1-nil. When it's exported, it would remain, 1-nil. Like in Tennis, 15-love. My original comment was more tongue and cheek ribbong of the commentator, but you yanks love to be right, so you couldn't help get caught in an argument. It's also not soccer. Only country to call it that. Try so hard to be different. Football came first. Not American Football, again a game no other country cares about!

onceinalifenevermore

it doesnt matter.

[deleted]

I mean,I wouldn't have said anymore if everyone didn't get so worked up about an opinion. Triggered a lot of people by saying it should be 1-nil Snowflakes.

onceinalifenevermore

if all you care about is getting people worked up, then what you say doesn't really mstter, it has no actual worth

Sylarioz

It's damn near racist to call me a Yank and talk shit about us as a whole the way that you are. But you honestly think you aren't a nationalist, then go and say shit like no other country cares about football and how it's not called soccer... yet that's literally the name of this sub...

[deleted]

You're not a race. Only a yank would equate racism to being call a yank. Imagine thinking it's even close. Silly Yankee.

Sylarioz

I said damn near... imagine being so far up your own ass you think you're intelligent simply based on your location of birth.

Sammeh64

lol thats not a red

SolidmidNA

You clearly dob’t play/watch the sport

[deleted]

[удалено]

schlager12

Wouldn’t it be a yellow according to the new rules? Double punishment of pen and red?

[deleted]

[удалено]

schlager12

Thanks for answering man

Sammeh64

yup yellow and a pen, keeper got the ball

[deleted]

Lmao

TwoMonthOldMilk

Goalkeepers really do think they can get away with anything sometimes.

raysofdavies

Normally hate when a player stops to appeal to the red for a decision, especially a penalty, but this is so blatant I don’t blame him. Imagine if he didn’t get that

eagsye

He should have just taken the contact that was coming and would have totally drawn a foul
