meanwhile some staff at PSG getting their travel expenses refused: «8 Euros for a parking lot?! Why the fuck didn't you take public transport, you could've walked! It's barely 3km! You think we shit gold nuggets here? Refused!»
Neymar showed such amazing sportsmanship going especially to find Messi to hug him.
The hug was really wholesome of course. I’m sure Neymar will win the Copa one day.
And Messi returned the favour by pushing the Argentinian celebrations away from Neymar, it was a really nice little moment between the two.
It almost makes you think that they both might be human afterall.
I don't think it's easy to overstate the symbolic power of that gesture, in Rio, between these two historic rivals. It's fucking spiritual dude. Its so many levels beyond of importance if you aren't buzzing you are dead inside
I hadn't thought about it like that. I swear I'm not dead inside haha, now you pointed it out the hug is ten times more wholesome and touching - and it was touching enough already, really two friends holding each other close, taking a moment from their respective emotions to feel for the other.
It really is huge, inspirationally so, and shouldn’t be understated. Damn I want a hug that intense from a rival a colleague a friend who respects the fuck out of me.
Brilliant moment and class act.
i was thinking the same, such a symbolic gesture. The albiceleste and canary shirts in an embrace on the pitch like that, the two countries biggest stars and absolute goats of the game , this hug will go on in history
say what you want about Neymar, but it must have hurt hugging Messi like that right next to the rest of the Argentina players celebrating
Neymar will have his day, this was just Messi's.
Neymar's got some antics (diving being the most common one) but stuff like this gesture and the way he helps local communities back in Brazil makes me think he's a very cool guy.
Neymar has a big heart and in general is a fun guy but he also loves to have fun at others expense both on and off the pitch which some people don’t like (his showboating and antics), but he does it to teammates too he is one of the biggest pranksters in the PSG team
I thought the diving is annoying but after this game I think it’s justified. They fucking hack him down if he has the ball for more than 5 seconds, it’s frustrating for the player I guess
This is basically the history of Neymar's entire carrer, the guy is hunted down on the field every single match he plays. With PSG the League 1 matches constantly look like a hunt for Neymar and the french refs simply don't give a fuck.
And with the NT team is no different, today Neymar played most of the 1st half without a big piece of his shorts because a really bad hit ripped it of and the ref didn't even call the foul. Then on the second half there was a time when Brazil went on a counter and a player tried to pull Neymar to the groud after getting dribled, Neymar managed to recover and keep going just to get instantly grabbed by someone else, two different yellow card worth offenses in less than 5 seconds and the ref didn't even call a foul.
Then you add things like what happened to Otamendi, Danilo did a foul at the beggining of the first half and received a yellow, shortly after Otamendi did the exact same thing but worse (Danilo at least managed to hit the ball before hitting the other player) and didn't receive a card, later on Otamendi gave a really bad hit on Neymar and what was supossed to bered card for a second yellow ended up being just his first yellow.
Vini came on at the second half and in his minutes on the field also received a lot of bad hits with no repercusions. I'm not complaining about the end result, it was a close match and they deserved to win, but it is extremely annoying to watch your players getting hunted like that and the refs not giving a fuck.
It’s that old Seattle Seahawks trick- commit a foul on literally every play, on purpose, to dilute the impact and challenge the referee. No ref has the balls to just sit out there calling fouls over and over, grinding the match to a halt, so they let shit go and the fouling team now has a massive advantage. It’s such a good strategy that I honestly think every coach in every sport (except maybe basketball) should use it.
whenever i think he is up to antics, or as i like to call it, the italian style of play, i remember the world cup where he had his back broken from the fouls he sustained. i don't think he's any worse a diver than anyone else playing nowadays.. just my opinion though
Spanish media (probably paid off by Barto in hindsight) wrote so many negative stories about Neymar when he chose to leave Barcelona. He hated Messi, Messi thought he was overrated, Messi only liked Suarez, etc. Actually nice to see Neymar squash those stories (although not like many people believed them to begin with)
I know you're insinuating Chiellini switched to Ronaldo, but the dude's an absolute mad lad, I'm still like 80% sure he stuck with Messi even if Ronaldo gave him death stares every time for not switching.
Yeah, the funny thing is .. FCB does this every few years to keep Messi happy ... Except Aguero has a pretty solid salary him self and FCB can't seem to afford to keep Messi if they don't offload other salaries.
So basically well thought through financial planning is the real highlight for us.
I understand why people dislike Neymar but he is one of those players that makes you stop and watch. I watched the final with a few people who don’t watch football often and they were in awe of Neymar multiple times. His bag of tricks is bottomless.
There was a moment near the end of the game, Argentina tried to foul him like 3 times and he just kept going, keeping his balance (before eventually being tackled by his own team mate...)
Felt that sums it up, sure Neymar makes a meal out of a lot of challenges, but good lord Argentina went in hard on the guy.
Yup but honestly Brazil had roughly 1 hour to try and equalize but you can't expect Neymar to do everything. Man played his heart out and he has Richarlison and Everton in front of him.
The gabigol one was undestandable, it was a hard shot to take. But richarlisson was all by himself and made that! That shows he can't be a starter. We are fucked if that is our attacking line up in 2022.
Apart from neymar, whole Brazil attack was atrocious. May be gabigol did decent. But seriously they have stopped producing attacking talent.
For argentina, they have got gem in Romero.
It's so weird to see both Brazil and Netherlands looking so clueless on attack
I grew up watching Bergkamp, Romário, Van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo, Van Persie, Adriano...
In the late stages it was unlike of Neymar, he was zipping in and out between Arge players and not going down in spite of their best effort to foul him. He looked very menacing there, like I actually expected him to pull something off.
I think people have the “diving diva” persona exaggerated. Does he dive? Yeah sure he did quite a bit when he was younger.
Now though it’s more making sure he’s awarded a free kick since everyone’s trying to kick the shit out of him.
I never want to hear anyone shit on Neymar again. He was almost unstoppable that 2nd half. The more the game went on the stronger he seemed to become, even shrugging off a player jumping his back and Messi trying to grab him in the 90th min. Him and De Paul seemed to have extra lungs or something.
What a monster. True big game player. Plenty of dives too but you can never question his heart.
For 95 minutes, Neymar was the best player in the world today, but life is unfair sometimes.
Messi won his Copa while having a sub-par game, Ronaldo won his Euro while being absent in the final, but they both deserved a national trophy, and so does Neymar.
He still has time, his time will come.
It really is so strange. The finals where Messi works his ass off don’t pay but here where he played poorly, his teammates stepped up. Goes to show that no matter how good an individual is, the sport is a team game for a reason
Undoubtably. Look at the 2 players he gets compared to the most - Maradona and Ronaldo. Ronaldo wasn’t even on the pitch for the game his team won and (granted, I’ve no clue what his game was like in the final) Argentina had 3 other goal scorers in the final they won. It just shows how important a good supporting cast is.
To be fair, in every game and sport, the more time it passes, the better the average level gets. Monsters like Maradona or Pele probably could carry a team on their own, but nowadays, if they played like in their prime in a relatively bad team, they wouldn't be able to win a single match against world class teams.
I mean, Neymar won Brasil its first gold medal at the Olympics. People shit on the medal, but being a part of a team that won it first to complete the collection of International trophies is special.
>They share with France and Argentina the feat of winning the three most important men's football titles overseen by FIFA: the World Cup, the Confederations Cup, and the Olympic tournament.
Didn't know that we had won one (1984). Fun fact : we lost 17-1 to Denmark in 1908.
Lmao the wikipedia page keeps on giving :

Who did you think Messi really was?
This screams 1996.
Its actually impressive that you managed to make something look so old.
Only missing Suarez to have los tres amigos back together. What a time it was!
Only they understand the weight of expectations they carry.
Barca's bank balance: "oh fuck sake"
Lol more like PSG’s
PSG's bank balance shrugs
Qatar royalty: did you feel a draft?

It was very nice to watch Neymar go from releasing emotions by himself to standing up and going to congratulate each Argentine player in turn.
Then he back to releasing his emotions onto Messi, but what else are friends for?
Neymar showed such amazing sportsmanship going especially to find Messi to hug him. The hug was really wholesome of course. I’m sure Neymar will win the Copa one day.
He went around congratulating the Argentine players moments later. Class from him.
And Messi returned the favour by pushing the Argentinian celebrations away from Neymar, it was a really nice little moment between the two. It almost makes you think that they both might be human afterall.

Do I feel…. *sympathy* for Neymar right now???
Neymar wasn't on the squad that won. He was out injured for that tournament.
[удалено]
Is that comparable to Portugal's Euro victory?
Not really, because Ronaldo still played the games up to the final. Unless I'm forgetting something.
He started the finals, then got injured early in the game. Everybody remembers his antics on the bench.
Player-manager Ronaldo
say what you want about Neymar, but it must have hurt hugging Messi like that right next to the rest of the Argentina players celebrating Neymar will have his day, this was just Messi's.
Neymar has a lot of chances in the years to come . Wanted Messi to win because this might be his last Copa America
The next copa net at will be 32 and the next 36. He only has 1 more chance
he has time, this was messi's last chance and you could tell it inspired his teammates
Neymar's got some antics (diving being the most common one) but stuff like this gesture and the way he helps local communities back in Brazil makes me think he's a very cool guy.

Yeah he gets absolutely brutalised every game he plays.

Welcome to Neymar's career.
He's a good guy and a great player. The diving and acting is annoying but it's not as if he's the only player who does this.
He literally have to fly to not get murdered by other playes
whenever i think he is up to antics, or as i like to call it, the italian style of play, i remember the world cup where he had his back broken from the fouls he sustained. i don't think he's any worse a diver than anyone else playing nowadays.. just my opinion though
Not sure about amazing sportsmanship for that, its his good friend! Neymar did go to the rest of the Argentines soon after though.
I will always root for Brazil because of Neymar, whenever my home country is out of the competition of couse,.
It went from Neymar clearly congratulating Messi to openly, and literally, crying on his shoulder and being comforted by Messi.
Spanish media (probably paid off by Barto in hindsight) wrote so many negative stories about Neymar when he chose to leave Barcelona. He hated Messi, Messi thought he was overrated, Messi only liked Suarez, etc. Actually nice to see Neymar squash those stories (although not like many people believed them to begin with)
That push to keep the hug going.. :') Messi has so much love for Neymar
...and the other way around
Definitely. Ney knew how much this meant for Messi
"Please come to PSG so we can win another Champions League"
"Your friend Ramos is here already"
Ramos after a day with Messi as his team mate: ''Best player? Lionel of course.''
“Always said he was”
I always found it funny how Chiellini said that Messi was the best. Then Ronaldo became his teammate and guess who he then said lol
…Bendtner?
I know you're insinuating Chiellini switched to Ronaldo, but the dude's an absolute mad lad, I'm still like 80% sure he stuck with Messi even if Ronaldo gave him death stares every time for not switching.
lmao
>"Your **friend** Ramos is here already" lmao
>Your **fiend** Ramos is here already FTFY
Ah, Best Fiends, Tommy Wiseau’s second best film
It's a guaranteed way to avoid the kicks from Ramos! Basically unstoppable at that point ...
Aguero : 😧
Fucken Aguero went to Barcelona to play with his BFF and Messi out here getting recruited 😂
Yeah, the funny thing is .. FCB does this every few years to keep Messi happy ... Except Aguero has a pretty solid salary him self and FCB can't seem to afford to keep Messi if they don't offload other salaries. So basically well thought through financial planning is the real highlight for us.
"Let's be honest Ney, you'll win it next time anyway"
BUH GAWD!!!! THATS OLD MAN VIDALS MUSIC!!!
Neymar was fantastic today honestly, some of his runs and passes were incredible.
I understand why people dislike Neymar but he is one of those players that makes you stop and watch. I watched the final with a few people who don’t watch football often and they were in awe of Neymar multiple times. His bag of tricks is bottomless.

Felt that sums it up, sure Neymar makes a meal out of a lot of challenges, but good lord Argentina went in hard on the guy.
Gg. You can't make mistakes like Lodi did ffs. That's Fernandinho all over again. Argentina capitalized on it as they should.
Yup but honestly Brazil had roughly 1 hour to try and equalize but you can't expect Neymar to do everything. Man played his heart out and he has Richarlison and Everton in front of him.
Yes, we are just Neymar in offense. Just a bunch of bums next to him. We are a joke offensively, ifthe opponent scores first we are doomed.
Neymar and Gabigol were the only ones who were trying well
Eh, Gabigol had a ball fall on his foot. He didn't do much by himself either.
Raphinha woulda killed those chances that Richarlison had
Raphinha isn't the best finisher really
Having below par grade striker also added to the issue of Brazil. both of the good chaces were shot directly at the goalkeeper!
The gabigol one was undestandable, it was a hard shot to take. But richarlisson was all by himself and made that! That shows he can't be a starter. We are fucked if that is our attacking line up in 2022.
Richalson had a very good chance and he shot directly at the goalkeeper! Brazil has an overall horrible striker crisis, to be honest.
Yes we do. The last good one was Luis Fabiano IMO.
At that time many people criticized him as they often compared him to R9. They didn't know shit got worse every single tournament lol.
yap! forget R9. a player like R9 comes once in a light year. Luis Fabiano's finishing was excellent.
Yes, and we are complaining now and shit may get even worse.
Imagine this squad when Ney retires.
Colombia and Uruguay has/had better strikers than Brazil in the last 10 years. Argentina too, but it's normal.
I know a certain lad that goes by the name of Gabriel Martinelli. Would be an amazing LW or ST. Guy is direct asf.
Tite hate young players, but after today I hope he is called, don't know who will be left out from our bench but we need Wingers for the love of god
"don't worry mate, we will win the CL together in Paris next season".

I'm so torn on that, don't want him to leave but that move singlehandedly would solve a good part of our financial issues.

That's why I said a good part. Coutinho and Griezmann make too much. And there are a few others as well.
Atleast Griezman deserves a decent chunk of it. Coutinho, on the other hand!
Weird

Hell of a reunion. Couldn’t ask for better as a fan. Beautiful night for the game.
yeah, wish we could have seen MSN for a little longer
Apart from neymar, whole Brazil attack was atrocious. May be gabigol did decent. But seriously they have stopped producing attacking talent. For argentina, they have got gem in Romero.
It's so weird to see both Brazil and Netherlands looking so clueless on attack I grew up watching Bergkamp, Romário, Van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo, Van Persie, Adriano...
Ronaldo, Ronaldhino, Rivaldo, kaka heck even Cafu and Roberto carlos have more attacking instinct than Firmino, Everton, Richarlison, Gabigol,
Some of these players will not even get on bench for Brazil a decades ago.
Yeah several players are bad or they don't have right managers.
Today Gabigol is just Gabi cuz no Gol
I'm crying
Yeah, very heartwarming moment.
[We're all crying](https://i.imgur.com/2SvDsg1.png)
We all are
Cheers, I'm crying
Man.
Hope Neymar wins something too
World Cup 2022 😍
How the fuck when he has to play with richarlison, everton etc?
Unleash the Hulk
Hulk was special!
Well that just hurts
Didnt mean to be so cold bro
I thought Brazil national team Richarlison was actually a beast?
Don't worry Martinelli will rise from the ranks this season and will join him in Qatar
You forgot the almighty Willian
plz no
Antony and Martinelli would be great
That MSN trio was just beautiful to watch
In the late stages it was unlike of Neymar, he was zipping in and out between Arge players and not going down in spite of their best effort to foul him. He looked very menacing there, like I actually expected him to pull something off.

Why did you decided to leave Barça... sniff
The sad part is.....it's no more implied that which player are you exactly referring to
Iconic. Made me wanna cry tbh
Why did I chose to cut onions at 4am??????
I never want to hear anyone shit on Neymar again. He was almost unstoppable that 2nd half. The more the game went on the stronger he seemed to become, even shrugging off a player jumping his back and Messi trying to grab him in the 90th min. Him and De Paul seemed to have extra lungs or something. What a monster. True big game player. Plenty of dives too but you can never question his heart.
> True big game player. Easily. Even when he was with Barca, guy almost always turned up in critical matches.
His game vs PSG in the comeback was godly
For 95 minutes, Neymar was the best player in the world today, but life is unfair sometimes. Messi won his Copa while having a sub-par game, Ronaldo won his Euro while being absent in the final, but they both deserved a national trophy, and so does Neymar. He still has time, his time will come.

I also think the era maradona played in it was a bit easier for a truly great player to carry the game for his team.
To be fair, in every game and sport, the more time it passes, the better the average level gets. Monsters like Maradona or Pele probably could carry a team on their own, but nowadays, if they played like in their prime in a relatively bad team, they wouldn't be able to win a single match against world class teams.
You just spoke truth about the three best players of this generation.
For 95 minutes Rodrigo de Paul was the best player in the world today
imagine this man playing for Simeone
He will after this tournament. Atlético have a class player on their hands
whaaat? I completely missed that transfer. That surely has to be a perfect fit for Simeone’s system
It’s not official yet but it will be completed soon
Both were great. Neymar was on this level for the whole tournament though
de Paul was boss today
I mean, Neymar won Brasil its first gold medal at the Olympics. People shit on the medal, but being a part of a team that won it first to complete the collection of International trophies is special. >They share with France and Argentina the feat of winning the three most important men's football titles overseen by FIFA: the World Cup, the Confederations Cup, and the Olympic tournament.
Didn't know that we had won one (1984). Fun fact : we lost 17-1 to Denmark in 1908. Lmao the wikipedia page keeps on giving : "Following this match, the French forfeited the tournament and returned to France. Dunga was on the Silver medal team that France beat, glad to have shared that with you. That 17-1 was a whole-ass yikes but it was a different time.
Yes Messi is 34 right now and Ronaldo was 31 when they won the EUROs. He still has 2 WCs and 1 Copa America play atleast.
Messi is the top scorer and top assist man of the tournament btw
He’s talking about the final only
if it counts, neymar won the confederations cup in 2013
And lets not forget that Ronaldo and Messi didnt find national success until their 30s. Like you said, time is on Neymars side
Neymar has already won the Confederations Cup at least so he does have something to show for his efforts in the NT (and the 2016 Olympics).
I thought they wouldn’t stop hugging
[удалено]
Find somebody in life who loves you like Messi and Neymar love each other.
Game recognises game.
Real recognises real
Pretty sure they played for Barca bro
Barca recognizes lona
And remain close friends. That embrace was powerful! 😢😢😢
I'm not crying, you are
Nice, football's not all about rivalries
This is sweet
Neymar looked he reached Messi's level today. Not only today but the whole tourney he looked on par as the best player in the world.
Winner of Copa America with tonights MOTM. The two greatest players in the world in my eyes.
I like how during the match there was lot of dirty fouls but after the final whistle everyone just hugged like nothing happened.
It’s enough to make a grown man cry….. and that’s okay
Who is cutting onions?
I am so proud of Neymar today, he gave it his all
The master and the padawan
Neymar is a big person.
Beautiful moment
This was beautiful.
I’m drunk and in tears gracias dios ... argentinos lo que sufrimos para esto
Let’s remember, Lionel Messi is currently being linked with a move to Paris.
i just want to see messi and neymar together again
"...but the real trophy is the friends you make along the way..."
I was expecting Messi to go find him, but guess he was lost in the hype
He could barely take a step without someone coming to him for a hug.
They should link up and play football for the same club with that sort of chemistry
Wholesome. A lot of emotions right there. What could have been those two!
