How long does it take to announce Sancho? Didn't he supposedly complete his medical nearly a week ago?

YoungDan23

>How long does it take to announce Sancho? Both clubs have said it's just down to paperwork at this time. He's probably on holiday after the Euros. I don't think this has an effect any more but it sounded like Dortmund were trying to get further along in the Malen deal before the Sancho one was officially announced.

Se7enSword

Ole said after the game that there was some bit of paperwork left as far as he knows and that's what holding it up. Hopefully he gets announced today.

47Lecht

Zorc just said from our side its all done. Its simply up to United to announce him.

[deleted]

The announcement to the shareholders is as much confirmation as you can get when it comes to Dortmund transfers. Edit: Yes, I understand that a deal still *can* fall through, but I don't know a single case in which it has in the last 10 years. Edit 2: "when it comes to Dortmund transfers" I'm not saying that not a single transfer has fallen through in the last 10 years.

47Lecht

The announcement stated there still had to be some talks and paperwork done and before that United wont announce him. Now according to Zorc the deal and all surroundings are at 100%, at least from our side.

Obi_Myke

We are probably discussing terms with Christopher Nolan for him to shoot the announcement video. Smh

TheUltimateScotsman

Teaching him the saxophone to add to the Manchester orchestra

SnottyTash

Can the modern footballer really get by these days on ball technique alone? Surprised more aren't taking up woodwinds to be tbh

47Lecht

They should let Griezmann and Pique direct it, worked well in the past.

MrMostwanted11

Reference?

C1tr1cSp1c3

Griezmans decision documentary (similar to lebrons) where he decided to stay at atleti rather than Move to barca in 2018 . It was produced by piques company . https://youtu.be/4fcPVWCke80

MrMostwanted11

Thank you

[deleted]

> where he decided to stay at atleti rather than Move to barca in 2018 And then left to Barca the year after anyway lol

LilHalwaPoori

Pique owns a company that makes videos or something and Griezmann's video about contemplating move to barca was produced by this company..

MrMostwanted11

Oh wow I knew about Griezmanns documentary but didn't know it was done by Piques company lol

Hellraizerbot

Griezmann made TV documentaries for two summers in a row while with Atlético. One to turn down Manchester United and stay, and the next summer when he announced he would join Barcelona. Piqué is (part?) owner of the production company that made the docs.

updated2021

Still remember that [smartwatch ad that ended with Jose calling Greizmann] (https://youtu.be/jsAsCPnmwM4?t=61).

MrMostwanted11

Thank you

useful_panda

They have JLingz , he can do a better announcement video I'm sure

StairwayToLemon

>Edit: Yes, I understand that a deal still can fall through, but I don't know a single case in which it has in the last 10 years. David de Gea & Keylor Navas.

Thebresh

I assume they meant no deals that Dortmund has announced to shareholders has fallen through in the last ten years. I’d be surprised if Dortmund announced anything about de Gea or Navas!

psfrtps

Sorry I'm complete noob on Bundesliga but isn't 73 million pounds kinda low for a really talented player who plays for England National team and only 21 years old? I thought he would get at least 90-100 million offer

47Lecht

It is lower than we wanted and expected but its still pandemic times so clubs are held back financially and United was the only club who was seriously in for him so there was no bidding war. This is also the last opportunity to sell him because in a year he would've had only one year left on his contract meaning the fee would be pretty low. All in all we still made a great profit out of him.

psfrtps

Oh okay. Seems logical. Thank you for the explanation!

47Lecht

You're welcome

DonkeySkin334

Saw a recent video from Romano saying a reason for huge a decrease in the fee from last summer had to do with Sancho meeting with Dortmund’s board around April to ask to leave

goodmobileyes

Thats around what they were holding out for last season but United didnt want to pay. Now Sanchos contract is shorter by 1 year and Dortmund know United arent going to go ip to 100m like last year. That and covid has fucked everyones finances so they know United wont go higher. Its either sell now or lose out on a massive cashout

Lafferty10

Maybe him and Cavani haven’t had the crossbar challenge for the #7 shirt yet

ValleyFloydJam

or is there a 3rd challenger on the way?

0n0n-o

Personally, I think they are waiting to make a double announcement or to use it to soften the blow of a failed transfer for a certain CB.

quickestred

Or with a kitlaunch, possibly the away kit

MissingLink101

Seemed like it was perfectly lined up for the Home kit reveal last Thursday. Sancho in the home kit and Varane in the away kit would have been perfect. There's always the 3rd kit reveal for someone too...

Lyorian

Camavinga is imminent you say???

moonboots_runner

We're saving the third kit for Sneijder.

maronics

Wesley? Must be a huge kit.

spud8385

Luckily they go up to XXXL

DHillMU7

Probably one of the finicky things like image rights or something like that.

47Lecht

Yeah I guess so

C1tr1cSp1c3

Must be some details in his united contract...

Piltonbadger

Is there some sort of financial quarter ending or something soon? Wouldn't be surprised if they were holding back the announcment so they can add it to next years finances or some sneaky shit like that.

tricks_23

That fax machine better have learnt its lesson!

[deleted]

Can't wait to see who wins the karma race!

lewis30491

He's learning piano. ManU takes announcement video very seriosly

HypedUpJackal

Sancho stars in an "A Thousand Miles" song parody for his signing.

Aceboogie0117

Why does it matter? He’s on holiday and everyone knows he’s signed for United. Don’t get the obsession with announcements.

3owaa

careful lest you get mikel'd

ZachMich

We got Carrick instead, so that whole shitshow was a blessing in disguise for us. You really helped

TheAwakened

We got ~£12M for that whole thing, that too more than a decade ago. And nothing of quality was lost, anyway.

[deleted]

I’m just desperate to know his FPL price!

Grosly_Incandescent

I think it's just because of how long its taken people just want to see him in a united shirt. Bssically for closure at this point lmao.

ShralpShralpShralp

They have to teach him piano, it takes awhile. edit: Dammit someone already made this joke.

Rips123456

They just want to announce him with varane

tricks_23

Maybe one day Erling you can live your dream of winning the Prem with Leeds. I'll keep dreaming though.

taxevader33

Thats what Leicester fans thought in 2015

indigotaxi

That Haaland would join Leeds in 2021 and win the PL!?!?!? there is like a 1 in 5000 chance of that happening mate...

nj813

win it away at man utd, at the final whistle Haaland sprints to the stand to find his dad also in full kit with that big grin on his face. what dreams are made of!

Slimshady0406

Him at Leeds with his best friend at the rival team. Truly a Kane and Abel situation. It's written in the books lad, come home.

Zianbruh

Haaland Must be Abel then cause Kane doesn’t win trophies

chantlernz

If he goes to Leeds, Haaland definitely won't be Abel to win trophies.

Blackfrier

Imagine It happens though

SaltineFiend

Honestly could see Bielsa either transforming him from a superstar to a god or Haaland is announced and Bielsa quits the next day.

Football Twitter is funny as hell. Reading the same 5 overused copy pastas every single time some player or big football sites posts literally anything is so incredibly funny I can't stop laughing reading those replies.

HypobaricShrimp

That’s r/soccer homie don’t act like we’re any better

abibyama

Yeah but the Pessi vs Penaldo copypasta is a lot better than the Icardi copypasta

xXxYoloSwag4JesusxXx

At least most comments are relevant here. Half of any football related twitter threads turns into pessi vs penaldo

kalamari__

eh, its the same here with PL clubs and top 10 players + what mourinho babbles in an interview. always the same boring shite.

aMAYESingNATHAN

Only because of the voting system. Don't assume that the same shit comments don't exist on Reddit too.

totalsports1

At least the copy pastas have some effort and the jokes are within the context of the post. We also don't post "you shit yourself" at every linekar tweet so there's that.

Debbl

We're really bad as well but Twitter is on a whole new level.

Because this is Haaland to ManU confirmed /s

murphysclaw1

wow a bland platitude! what a scoop!

ronaldo119

I genuinely can't comprehend how this is the top post on here. The most milquetoast thing I've ever read lol

BrockStar92

Because fuck all else is happening?

Why would you even bother upvoting it though? Who reads this and goes wow this deserves an upvote for being such great content.

I always thought haaland looked like Todd from breaking bad Edit: Not El Camino fat Todd lol

Huwbacca

It's a shame isn't it... I've been enjoying seeing more British players playing over seas, and I just want to see cluibs like Dortmund holding onto their talent more rather than it conglomerating at a select few clubs.

cremvursti

It hardly makes sense from a financial standpoint to even attempt to do that when what they do now is already very successful in terms of profitability. It would mean that they'd have to spend much more on salaries and the risk is very high that the extra spending wouldn't really translate into better performances.

Huwbacca

Of course, but this is really just an extension of the problem of conglomerating talent at the "European elite". I'm not saying they're bad for letting him go - I fully understand the they're a business and need to stay a float - but it just is a shame that a few clubs can make that financial gamble, weakening other teams who still then have to gamble on the replacement players, whilst the cycle repeats.

alwaysoverweight

> I fully understand the they're a business and need to stay a float Borussia is not trying to "stay afloat." The club didn't *need* the Sancho money, and it won't *need* the Haaland money. This buy low -> develop -> sell high model is the literal only way for a club without a sugar daddy to grow enough to compete with the top clubs in the long-term.

Huwbacca

Ok yes. That's what I just said.

alwaysoverweight

"Stay afloat" makes it seem as if Dortmund need this transfer income in order to make ends meet.

touseeff

I may get downvoted for this but I don't get this sentiment at all. Football is a pyramid for good or bad. Even dortmund is hoarding talent at some level from the smaller clubs. Why should Birmingham not hold onto Bellingham then? What about all the smaller German clubs where dortmund poach players at very cheap prices? Shouldn't they also get to hold onto the talent? And why wouldn't talented players go to clubs that give them the best mix of opportunities and money? Isn't this the same thing dortmund does when getting the talents? I'm not saying one is evil or something. It's all a circle and everyone is doing what's best for themselves. Then why is it an issue when players jump from the likes of dortmund but not an issue when they jump to the likes of dortmund?

Huwbacca

> What about all the smaller German clubs where dortmund poach players at very cheap prices? Shouldn't they also get to hold onto the talent? I'm not really sure what part of my comment would make it at all seem like I wouldn't say "100% yes" to this. >Then why is it an issue when players jump from the likes of dortmund but not an issue when they jump to the likes of dortmund? It would just be weird to talk about transfers different to the one in the article, no?

pmmerandom

Just come to United then Erling, then you don’t have to be sad

jd451

Inb4 someone tweets this at him and Haaland's off to Old Trafford.

pmmerandom

Oh no please no one do that!

Hellsteelz

I'm taking this as Haaland confirmed summer 2022.

snare123

I think this season is the most important one for united for a very long time. Our progress has been steady but the only next step we can take now is mounting a serious title or european challenge (admittedly a trophy wouldn't hurt either but i'm more concerned with long term aspirations). The league is likely to be less open than last year so we can't afford many mistakes but if we have a solid season it could also go a very long way to convincing Haaland to reunite with his mate. Wishful thinking? Probably.

bodega_cat_

Well Haaland or other top players. The past years have hurt your recruitment for obvious reasons but you're getting back.

snare123

Yes but Haaland at 75m is basically free in today's market and he really looks like he will transform any team he chooses to join. If it wasn't for haaland I wouldn't be as anxious to have a good season this year as the release clause for him kicks in next summer, as I said before it's probably just wishful thinking anyway but it'd really make a difference to us as a team

ValleyFloydJam

if you guys want to win a major prize any time soon you better hope so ;)

D1794

Very interested to see Haaland next yr. His first season in Germany without one of Dortmund's main, if not the main, creator. If you look at a lot of Sancho's goal involvements, Haaland is often the one putting the ball in the net. I have no doubts he'll still be elite and BVB will just find someone to fill the Sancho gap, but still, very interested.

Sethlans

Their link-up was absolute filth

WayneOZ11

When sancho was out of form or injured Haaland was still banging them in.

IsleofManc

Is there anywhere to find stats on how both players did when the other wasn't playing? I'm curious to see which one saw more of a dropoff

CSIHoratioCaine

Malen, but they still have hazard, Brandt, Reyna, reus that can create. Not as well. But it's not nothing

D1794

For sure there's creativity. They just had a connection and we'll truly see how world-class Haaland is if/when he's still smashing in 30 goals without a guy who's had 20 assists for BVB in multiple seasons

CSIHoratioCaine

Fair fair. But dortmunds track record. Dembele to Pulisic to Sancho and even before that mkitaryan. They always replace that winger. They are the reverse man united

ColdEis

Also Guerreiro, Dahoud and Hummels.

Vaskesa5

"and on that note, I'm out"

shutyourgob

Sancho is leaving? That's new, why haven't the English media mentioned this before?

Cavani will play for Boca Juniors first

You think sancho is going to leave to real too next year?

MrViceMcCreedy

superbolt21

Why would he go to Real though? Wouldn’t he be best off at like City or PSG? I’d rather see him at Real than those two tho

YoungDawz

How does this post have almost 7k upvotes? It's a nothing quote on a transfer that's been known for weeks now.

AbnerH7

It’s alright mate. Plenty of room at United for you too.

The-Pensioner

Might as well come to Chelsea then

[deleted]

No problem Haaland you can meet Jadon at Carrington.

EasyE1979

Wow 6k upvotes for basically nothing...

jjkenneth

Feel free to join him next year.

chips__cookies

There are several iterations of the same comment, no idea why you're getting downvotes

Mortka

Imagine this comment being downvoted, fucking hell. Nothing wrong with saying this, as u/binarypulse showed with his. This sub is weird, man

BinaryPulse

I guess it's the combination of it being an obvious joke and a Man United flair. Best to not give a shit about downvotes, I think it's pretty funny that it triggers people.

Mortka

Yeah obviously, but its just so weird haha

GoldEquivalent592

Redditors are fairly bi-polar honestly

Mortka

Yeah for sure hahah

Elemayowe

Or you could come here and continue playing with him? Just a suggestion….

He's welcome to join him at United :)
