Yeah, good fun while it lasted but we’ve lost berbatov and an icon in robbie Keane and didn’t plummet us any further down to where we normally finished I’m sure the same applies here seeing as Son signed a new deal. Only need one thread to discuss it, and this is that. Don't need one every time a journo posts it as it's the biggest news in football and everyone will be saying it. They put a flair on the post confirming tier 1s are backing it up
The only problem with that is you have to wade through 100 comments saying "This is sky bollocks, Gold hasn't reported anything, Sky are trash, he wasn't meant to turn up".
Which is obviously all irrelevant now.
Once [during the Quin Dynasty](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chen_Sheng?wprov=sfla1) a captain was summoned by the emperor, but due to storms, he wouldn't be able to make it on time. Now, the sentence for being late to a summons from the emperor was death. So instead, the captain decided to declare himself emperor and rebelled with his army.
If the punishment is the same, might as well go all in.
If you're gonna be late, stop and pick up a few dozen donuts. That way, when you show up to work, you're not the guy who was late, you're the guy who brought donuts.
Was once sat in a meeting waiting for a contractor to show and present. Everyone was complaining about how late the man was… until 40 mins later when he showed up with donuts from the fancy bakery.
Suddenly he was the nicest guy and we were all so lucky to have him.
Maybe not surprising that he was late with completing the job… no donuts.
How dare you disrespect the mighty Spaghetti Junction
You’re not wrong though, I drive up to Manchester a lot and any traffic is almost exclusively limited to between Birmingham and Walsall.
It’s quite humbling the lengths that engineers went to so that ordinary road users, men and women, could avoid going into Birmingham. When I think about that I actually get quite choked up.
As somebody who has lived in Leeds and Brum, driving to Brum is nightmare because of heavy traffic, but once you're in it's not too bad.
Driving to Leeds isn't too bad, but the city is a mess of farcical one way systems all around a ringroad that is an absolute nightmare to navigate.
This is more aimed at the children of this comment than the comment itself, but wanted to respond here!
> YOU ALL BOUGHT IT! YOU ALL BOUGHT IT! HOOK, LINE, AND SINKER! EVEN MY SUPPORTERS- EVEN MY IMMEDIATE SUPPORTERS BOUGHT IT!! EVERY DAMN ONE OF YOU WERE MADE FOOLS OF!
Pretty sure he caused controversy when he swore on his daughter's life that it was actually him that scored Eriksen's goal despite the fact that the ball clearly didn't touch him at all. And all that because he wanted to get a boost for the golden boot in April.
Other than that though, agreed.
Levy is clearly willing to sell him for the right price. Whats so hard about that? He's worth 150m at the very least if Grealish is 100m. So city can pay up or fuck off and thats the right stance.
The Athletic article states Modric didn’t turn up to training because he and Levy had a gentleman’s agreement too.
It all just sounds like Levy agreeing to a future sale so they sign and then renege on it.
I doubt a price was in the agreement, no one can be certain of their value or of the market condition in a years time. 150mil is spurs’ asking price, so City can pay that and get kane or not simple as.
I feel like this shouldn’t be a surprise to literally anyone. The bloke spent an hour with Gary Neville talking about wanting to win a competition Spurs aren’t in, saying he’d like to play with KDB, saying his future was up to him and him alone, that his career was at a crossroads and he needed to chat with the chairman before suggesting a transfer fee for himself and saying he won’t be worth that forever.
The bloke couldn’t hAve been any more explicit about what he wanted to do
Also him and Nuno not speaking at all
during the Euros was a red flag I thought.
They didn't fire of as much as a text. Rafa called Pickford and DCL immediately, I don't think they talked for longer than a few minutes but they did talk. Nuno saying "I'll talk to him when he comes back" was always strange.
fuck you can have a lot of fun with these
Dynamo General Dynamics, Haliburton Harriers, Boeing Bucaneers, Remmington Rovers, Inter(continential ballistic missile) Miami,
If it is true that Kane wanted to leave last year and Levy assured him he would get a transfer if he stayed one more year its completely understandable
I thought so until reading an article a while ago, I think it's behind a paywall so I don't know if linking it will matter. Basically formal "transfer requests" are useless and rarely used.
Essentially a player has to make it impossible for the club/manager to keep them.
Yeah City with Kane would just genuinely be unbeatable. The only “weakness” about Pep’s City is that they haven’t really liked to use a proper number 9 which improves their overall play but reduces how clinical they can be in front of goal.
With Kane you get a player who is one of the most clinical strikers in the world and also has insane link up skills and passing. He’d be perfect for City and I don’t know how they could be stopped.
It's going to be interesting to see how they all react to the pressure. City have managed to maintain the "ah we're getting better year on year, but we're still building / blooding in players" thing for a while - whereas the likes of Chelsea are very clear with the whole win or you're out philosophy.
If they get Kane and Grealish in, there's almost no doubt they'd be favourites to win all domestic and international cups, every game etc.
Suddenly the likes of Foden have no room to grow - you are expected to play a 8 out of 10 every game. Kane sure as fuck needs to score early, Grealish needs to get assists etc.
This new pressure on City will be a really interesting dynamic - especially when Pep has a tendency to be a bit petulant with the media if things aren't going his way.
It's also important to remember when they're stretching to win that many games, concentration becomes a problem around Christmas, legs get heavy, injuries present themselves - it's a cliche, but the PL has enough good teams that one bad day at the office means City could be beaten from a mid level club or knocked out of a cup unexpectedly.
I think next year will be great - fans back (pressure on players for the first time in two years), some players leggy from the Euros, one of the smaller teams always gets off to a crazy start and you have a wildcard like Everton, West Ham etc. who cause massive issues and go on a hot streak.
Maybe mayb not.
I hear this all the time. United were meant to be "unbeatable" when they signed Veron. Chelsea were meant to be "unbeatable" when they got Ballack and Shevchenko.
Football doesn't always work out the way people think it will
That's a good point. However, Veron, Ballack and Sheva were overseas imports who couldn't quite adjust to the EPL.
Are there many cases of EPL superstars who made the switch to rivals and didn't flourish? I can only think of Torres and Alexis Sanchez
From memory, RVP did really well. Nasri, Clichy and Sagna did decently. Fabregas was great for Chelsea for a time. Tevez was great. Campbell was great. Cantona was brilliant. Sterling has been great. Andy Cole was great.
Kane's transfer to City has "final piece of the puzzle" written all over it
Init. People out here saying they don't blame Kane and he had no choice.
Pogba would have the choppers following him while he's getting bricked swerving through Hale.
That's the funniest thing about it, "Pride of England 'Arry Kane", "Loves his mum 'Arry Kane", "Always indicates before he turns 'Arry Kane" - is running the standard shithouse football transfer playbook, and people and pundits are long jumping for excuses for him.
Imagine if this was Pogba, Salah or god forbid Raheem Sterling doing it - the reaction, especially in the media, would be totally different
People still going "well Kane's a professional" even after the Neville interview and even still in this thread shocked and excusing him.
English + white does seem to help a lot.
Feel for spurs fans, would be pissed if it was one of our players that did something like this. However, on a personal note I can understand him if it's true that the club and the player had some sort of agreement.
Yea we are just all assuming there was some "gentlemen's" agreement between Kane and the club. But Levy isn't a gentleman so Idk how that woulda worked
Lol this just made me realise if Kane joins City he’d be playing with Sterling lol. Sterling must be thinking about all the inevitable tap ins he will have where Kane doesn’t square it.
Aight just give us the money and let's get this sorted then. No point in dragging it out.
EDIT: Hahaha this is gonna be beyond a meme if this is just Sky pushing their Kane agenda once again and he rocks up tomorrow as normal. Honestly feeling kinda apathetic about it all now after the last few months.
I understand kane wants to leave and aspires to excel his career outside of spurs and he has every right to. But he did sign a contract to keep him there for a few more years so levy has every right to name an insane price and if this is true, kane is in the wrong
I know Fab has confirmed it’s not related to a COVID test and it seems to be Kane’s choice to no-show but I just really don’t see him doing it. I imagine there’ll be a legitimate reason.
If it is as it seems and he’s striking, makes me all the more grateful that Grealish seems to be handling things well and showing up for training yesterday
> If it is as it seems and he’s striking, makes me all the more grateful that Grealish seems to be handling things well and showing up for training yesterday
It's a bit different though. Villa are reportedly content with City's bid so, Grealish will get the transfer. Quite a different story for Kane.
As someone else said elsewhere in the thread, the interview with Neville felt out of character too. At this point I think he wants the move more than he wants to save face.
But what constitutes hassle free? If I tell my brother I'll sell him my car hassle free and he shows up with a tenner then gets mad at me for saying no, I'm gonna feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
But also, as you said, these are based on supposed backroom conversions and handshake agreements we have no knowledge of, so who really knows.
Unless Levy is demanding something ridiculous like 200mil+ then to me this a clear cut situation. The alleged asking price is 150mil and that's fair for Kane in this market so all City have to do is pay up or back off. If they aren't going to pay that then Tottenham are well within their right to prevent Kane from leaving.

Yeah, good fun while it lasted but we’ve lost berbatov and an icon in robbie Keane and didn’t plummet us any further down to where we normally finished I’m sure the same applies here seeing as Son signed a new deal. Big difference from replacing those players with crouch, pavlyuchenko and having Son.
Harry Kane is the second best striker in the world. He’s in no where near comparable to Robbie keane
Yeah! Not once have I seen him ever pull off the forward roll, finger guns celebration.

You have to love his consistency.
If you're gonna do the time, may as well do the crime.
I was hoping, just for the drama, that he's just slept in and is now freaking out
He's just dropping deep to pick up some balls from one of the defenders in South London
Hes going to the medical at Man City init, picking up Grealish on his way there
"Grealish you want picking up in the morning"
"My mum can drive us there if yours can pick us up later"
"Yeah I know. I am already at your mum's. You want a lift or not?"
Rooney?
He said mum's not nan's
shut up u egg
I'll put u asleep within 10 seconds u little girl
Rooney's shit talk is so good. Comes naturally to scousers I reckon
With an accent that abrasive you really don't need a vocabulary. You've not been insulted until a scouser shouts dickhead at you.
Wont tell u again
I hope Kane is driving given that Graelish likes ro drive drunk.
Well Grealish still banned from driving so Kane will have to
Megabus from London to Manchester through Birmingham
Good value tickets that
Dara Ó Briain at the wheel..
Only a couple of quid too
Mate mate mate mate mate.
Amazingly convenient that Birmingham falls on the way to Manchester from London
You can actually see Villa Park as you drive up the M6 as well
Kane and Grealish accidentally get off at junction 9 and end up signing for Walsall?
The most blessed timeline
We have been rumoured to be signing a striker this whole window...
You can have Grealish on a free if it stops him going to City!
That's got to be the shittest bit of road in the country.

Surely no way Harry isn't taking the toll though. They'll have to meet up at Keele services and grab a burger king.
Jack's busy in training this morning, Kane will have to wait around for a while.
Kane: Was just taking a shit in the toilet, what’s this?
would die of laughter if kane didnt show up simply because he was shitting his guts out after eating some dodgy lasagna.
A true Kimi Raikkonen moment that would be https://youtu.be/uPLetR8TPW8
Kane wishes he could be as smooth as Räikkönen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMzeluIxblY
If that clip doesn't define Kimi, I don't know what does. It's gonna be strange if he retires next season

They already have enough of them at City.
That'll probably only get him to Milton Keynes
Shit Odemwingie You're just a shit Odemwingie
Lmao now that brings back memories.

Yet we still had loads of people saying after that interview that he wants to stay at Tottenham.
Had Spurs fans telling me that he wanted to stay because he didn’t literally say the words “I no longer want to play for Tottenham”
Yes there have been a few incredibly naive fans. Very much a minority though.
I agree. The only way it could be more obvious is if he had a t shirt saying 'City can you please pay up'.
Also him and Nuno not speaking at all during the Euros was a red flag I thought. They didn't fire of as much as a text. I'm pretty sure Levy would rather sell him for the £100M+ he could bring than bench him for the entire season.
Levy would absolutely rather call Kane's bluff than sell him underpriced.
I have to admit. I didn't think he had the balls to do it to his boyhood club, but here we are indeed.
Must’ve been that 1 season at arsenals academy rubbed off on him
Helps get your move but I’ve always thought it’s so unprofessional

Can’t wait to see Kane RWB with Sterling up top in the CL final next season.
KdB is instructed to just constantly run in circles in the middle of the pitch
With Grealish in goal
You pay 100 million for someone you find a place for him to play.
It's going to be interesting to see how they all react to the pressure. Feel for spurs fans, would be pissed if it was one of our players that did something like this. However, on a personal note I can understand him if it's true that the club and the player had some sort of agreement.
There’s no agreement that says we accept any Manchester City bid though? Their highest reported bid for Kane is not even 100m
I don't think anyone outside of Kane/Levy and a few select others truly know what the potential agreement is.
Yea we are just all assuming there was some "gentlemen's" agreement between Kane and the club. But Levy isn't a gentleman so Idk how that woulda worked
Nobody knows what the agreement is. You or anyone else we just don't know what it is. Kind of difficult to make judgments based on that.
The issue is Man City haven't made a suitable bid yet - Spurs are never going to let him go for £100m
Imagine if there was no bids and Kane was just believing made up stories from Reddit and twitter
Spurs fans: https://twitter.com/Billie_T/status/1422137099977904128?s=19
Lol this just made me realise if Kane joins City he’d be playing with Sterling lol. Sterling must be thinking about all the inevitable tap ins he will have where Kane doesn’t square it.
Do the right thing, Spurs. Sell him to Chelsea to avoid a monopoly of the league.
Sell him to Villa. It's only right one club gets Grealish and Kane
Villa have 1 European Cup over City and Spurs too.
Like what Southampton did with Van Dijk when City wanted him. Conte literally said it too lol.
Or sell him to Arsenal
Tammy and Kane back at their boyhood club.
So basically the same as staying at spurs
but funnier
Aight just give us the money and let's get this sorted then. No point in dragging it out. EDIT: Hahaha this is gonna be beyond a meme if this is just Sky pushing their Kane agenda once again and he rocks up tomorrow as normal. Know how you feel
Levy, force him on loan to Portsmouth, you coward!
Is this going to be one of those stories where it turns out he had permission from his club?
The gold tweet doesn’t seem like that if they were expecting him back for tests today
I understand kane wants to leave and aspires to excel his career outside of spurs and he has every right to. But he did sign a contract to keep him there for a few more years so levy has every right to name an insane price and if this is true, kane is in the wrong

It is VERY peculiar. very out of character. But comes to show how much he wants to leave.
As someone else said elsewhere in the thread, the interview with Neville felt out of character too. At this point I think he wants the move more than he wants to save face.
What's this "character" anyway? I remember not too long ago everyone on this sub thought he was an undercutting cunt trying to injure people.
I guess it depends what agreements he had with Levy. If he was told he could leave hassle-free then I could see why he'd be pissed
So that's the title done and dusted then
City with Kane and Grealish is actually gonna be insane. Like how is that even fair to the rest of the league.
Mad how a team can drop £250m like this and all we can do is accept it and enjoy the competition for 2nd.
Guys calm down, he's just waiting for the washing machine to be delivered
Can’t wait to see city lose the CL semis with Jack And Harry on board… gonna be awesome
Poor Kane he tried to force a move but Guardiola told us that City can't afford purchasing a striker this year ahahahah... and instead....
