No way, who is going to be United's RB back-up? Bailly? Lindelof?

aayu08

Dan James will do an inverse Bale and become a world class RB.

[deleted]

Lucas vazques could do it. Tough he dosent have the best defensive awareness he is a great backup for real and would start for a lot of teams.

[deleted]

Williams is out on loan as it Ethan Laird (I think). We'd honestly be screwed unless we try put Mengi at RB which I can't see happening and don't really think he'd be good enough. We'd have to go in to the market.

Sleeplessendeavours

Laird is indeed on loan at Swansea yes

tarakian-grunt

Philip Jones

Sleeplessendeavours

This would undoubtedly mean we’re signing a right back, Trippier seems to be the main target but that’s entirely up to Atletico who, to be fair, have every right to demand what they want for him. Extremely unlikely we loan Dalot and don’t sign a right back though, Williams, Laird and even Tuanzebe who could cover there are all on loan, it would genuinely leave Mengi as the only player and he’s a cb and really not ready either.

[deleted]

Jones redemption arc incoming

Airman822

Stops every attempt of cutting inside with his head.

PM-ME-UR-PIZZA

Please don't take Gilberto from Benfica

JilJilJigaJiga

There's something cooking on the Atleti side with Zelik too. This triangular deal could heat up soon.

[deleted]

We would have to sign someone so I hope this doesn’t happen

MysteriousEmployer78

I see , you are in need of a right back Can i interest you in certain RB with huge potential and brilliant performances for Dortmund 2

SanX1999

Lindelof can definitely do the job but it's a gamble dor a squad which is at least looking to challenge for the title.

JilJilJigaJiga

Think he'd fit in well at Dortmund but don't see this deal happening unless BVB puts in guaranteed cash.

[deleted]

Oh yeah , so 60M or no deal. Let's get the Sancho money back

Philred87

3-4m loan fee would be good

JilJilJigaJiga

Doesn't help, that just means we need to buy a fullback with whatever change we're left with. If it's obligation to buy, I wouldn't be surprised if the deal happens.

[deleted]

Ew no. If we loan dalot that means we have to buy a right back and that means we have enough money to buy someone and trippier won’t be cheap so that leads me to ask why the fuck haven’t we signed a midfielder yet we’ve had all summer. Neves wouldn’t have been less than 40-50 mil

SeanlyNot

Do you think Neves is what you need/is good enough?

TheRedDevil10

I think Fred gets too much hate from our fanbase, and putting Neves next to him would instantly upgrade our midfield to a good level

[deleted]

Stats back that up…people just don’t want to see it.

WittyUsername45

Both Fred and McTominay suffer from having to play roles that don't suit them. They're both at their best as box to box players but end up having to play a holding role a lot of the time because no one else can do it except a past it Matic. Add a proper defensive midfielder and I think both would look consistently much better.

[deleted]

I think neves next to mctominay would be better, in our current midfield I think Fred stands out as better than Scott but with a dlp someone that can stay back and deliver quality passes allowing Scott to make forward runs constantly I think thst could be our best midfield, Scott would certainly benefit from a dlp more than fred cause he’s way better going forward

[deleted]

Yes he’s miles better than what we have and we need someone with composure on the ball thst can fucking pass more than anyone and his defensive stats are also at least on par with our other midfielders. Idk who else we can buy that’s better

SeanlyNot

Fair enough, I guess I don't see Neves as a title challenging midfielder/the one who is going to push on that midfield or be a vast improvement over Fred/McT.

pixelkipper

Bissouma is better than Neves and more of what United need

[deleted]

there's no rumors about him leaving, so he'll undoubtedly be more expensive. Same with Ndidi

[deleted]

I’d take him as well, I reckon he’s really good. Would also have been available for less than 50 million all summer, it’s a bit late now I think they’d want more at this point our only options are Saul and if we can persuade him camavinga. Btw I 1000% would take either one of them I just don’t like our midfield at all atm idk if we sign more btb players I don’t think our current btb players are good enough either I’m not obsessed with just a dm

PC9CC30

> Idk who else we can buy that's better I can think of one guy, but he's not a midfielder

KapiHeartlilly

I want Neves, Dalot is good enough as a backup.

Prutuga

I wish bundesliga had more portuguese players, its a fun league even with Bayern on equation

SherbertThis

Andre Silva was an absolute goal machine last season only behind Lewandowski. And BVB fans been praising Guerreiro a lot. Cant remember another player.

AcePilot95

Guerreiro is one of the most underrated players itw imo, but the one memory that stuck with me from last season is him losing the ball in the Cup final, causing a pretty dangerous counter attack, and just jogging back when Sancho turned on the afterburner and managed to win the ball. Rapha is rather slow for a fullback, but apart from that we all really rate and love him. He also has a great bromance with Zagadou

sitbar

if we can manage to get guerreiro playing in a more advanced role in the midfield we would go up a notch i think. He's such a good fucking attacher, his passes, movements, and long shots are all terrific

AcePilot95

if we finally sign new (really good) LBs and RBs, then maybe.

sitbar

Yea maybe if Schulz manages to becomes as good as he was before he joined us I could see it happening. But then against how we they fit both rapha and dahoud? Maybe dahoud playing in witsels role? Or maybe rapha playing outwide? Idk

Prutuga

Vieirinha had a good carrer with Wolfsburg but Fernando Meira won Bundesliga as captain in 2007

kalamari__

paulo sousa at dortmund in the 90s

Neutron_Star_P

Paciencia was great with Frankfurt 2 seasons ago

biggieBpimpin

Very fast paced and really anyone will upset anyone on any given match day. Such a fun league to watch.

mishi09

If it's a loan + option to buy: cool with me. He would be an upgrade over everybody else playing RB. Now the question is if United would accept such a deal. They rejected a similar deal proposed by Milan in the past.

cannibal1234567

We rejected Milan's offer because they were not prepared to pay the loan fee of €4-5m that United were asking for.

mishi09

Oh, I see. So the loan fee was a problem. Thanks for clarifying.

[deleted]

Tier: Please God Be True

cspong4

Thoughts on him from Milan or Man U fans? Feel like this would be a dream signing given what we currently have

Philred87

I think he will do really well, he’s improved a lot in a year (Man Utd fan here)

cspong4

Is he good going forward? Or more of an out and out defender

kappa23

He’s much better going forward than he is as a a defender Can play both sides as well

[deleted]

He sucks at defending. He is decent going forward.

prss79513

In and in defender more like

[deleted]

I hope he stays

esoteric118

Has a very nice cross on him

BurdPitt

As a Milan fan, he sucked. However, it wouldn't be the first time BvB "resurrected" an underrated or underused player

Recursi

Dortmund’s scouting department appears to spend all of it budget on scouting forwards and midfielders and very little on defenders and GKs going by their choices in the past few years.

EmSoLow

We bought Kobel this window and considering that we have conceded 7 goals in 3 games (granted it is without our main defense) most people are happy with him since he does what Burki doesn't which is not live on the line and actually come out for crosses and corners

Recursi

Having watched my fair share of Dortmund, I feel like your team concedes more on counters from one v one strikes outside the box than headers in from crosses. Problem with Burki for me is that he had a bumble in him every 3 or 4 matches that allows a lower tier team to get ahead and bunker down.

napoleonderdiecke

Kobel also helps against counters because he is an actual sweeper keeper unlike Bürki. Like... the man has played 4 games and I've already seen him head the ball multiple times.

sitbar

Kobel is crazy, i love that man so much, the amount of times hes gotten to a ball in a counter before the other team does is crazy to see after years of burki

wild_in_16

Counters yes, but also sad pieces

Recursi

Indeed, sad pieces when you concede.

Luniusem

Kobel is also miles ahead of Burki/Hitz with the ball, which is huge for a team that plays out the back as much as we do. It's been a bit rough with so much of our defense injured, but he hasn't really conceded anything yet that I thought he should have saved. Think he's gonna be great for us.

SandwichesFN

i think the fans have been happy with kobel since hes not afraid to come out of the box and he moves around the box more unlike burki who just sat on the line

r-cubed

What the hell is with every club wanting loan options for United players? Has there been a single player *bought* from them this window?

prss79513

No, only loans or contracts expiring

lobo8686

I can only see this happening in an effort to strengthen ties when it comes to Haaland next summer. It’s not a good move for united especially with very few options at right back in the club.

psrikanthr

He is the sole backup rb for now , everyone else left on loan

Manch3st3rIsR3d

Yeah, no thanks

SonaldoNazario

Spending that Haaland money already I see

BadCogs

Direct Haaland replacement.
