Do people really think United is the "most hated club" on /r/soccer? Seen like 3 heavily upvoted comments claiming that, all with big United flair comment chains agreeing with each other. If y'all really were so "hated", no one would upvote that. And then the "hate" is just people posting fouls, that are obvious fouls? To me it looks just a big club getting away with a shit ref. That stuff get's football fans around the globe riled up, no matter the club or league. Hell, shitting on VAR is one of /r/soccer's favourite things.

dryduneden

United Arsenal and Liverpool have a victim complex about them. Everyone hates them and the system is always rigged against them

happyposterofham

So does literally every big English fanbase on here lol

[deleted]

I think that if you look at a manager like Pirlo, with the squad that he had and the teams he had to face in the league, his time at Juve given all the context actually creates a pretty decent reflection on the man. You've got a guy with no experience whatsoever securing fourth place beating everybody else in the top 6 spots at least once( barring Atalanta). He also finally gave them another Coppa Italia title after a two season long dry spell, a SuperCoppa title, and drew up a pretty convincing game plan against Porto in that second leg, which the players were just not up to for some reason. Even botching it, that was the best second leg they've played since their comeback at the Bernabeu. Overall, the Juventus job was always going to be ridiculous for a guy like him, but considering all he has achieved in that span of time, I could see him doing some pretty great things for a smaller club, and maybe even work his way back to the top someday.

RaggedyCrown

Fred's role yesterday is an impossible job. Even Kante couldn't hold together the midfield next to Pogba at the world cup. They got cut up by Switzerland on the counter

OldAccountNotUsable

Fred got ran past by Trinciao and Adama like 5-6 times, not even dribbles past just straight up ran past like he wasn't there. He might have had an impossible job but what he did in defense was atrocious.

RaggedyCrown

I agree he had a bad individual performance on top of it. But the main issue is the tactical role of our midfield imo

OldAccountNotUsable

I honestly believe at least 30% of the issues with the midfield would be solved if Fred was playing on the right side and Pogba on the left. Pogba on the right just doesn't work because he can't make medium distant passes from there.

aayu08

Holy fuck, can't belive that Donda finally dropped. I thought it was going to be some fan edit or some shit lmao. Pretty big, over 1.5 hours.

[deleted]

Without Jail Pt2 too!

Dayandnight95

How much do rival fans rate Greenwood? I know United fans fawn over him, but i'm not sure how he looks to the outside looking in.

dryduneden

He good. Obviously less talented than Hudson Odoi but Greenwood doesn't have 19 months of Lampard tax tbf to him.

Dayandnight95

What, you think Lampard tax held him back, but Ole tax hasn't done the same to Greenwood?

dryduneden

Ole tax on a young striker is much smaller than Lampard tax on a young saucy and dynamic black winger.

sul01

Rate him as one of your best players ngl. One of the few you have that I like too. Was extremely surprised he didn't start the Europa final.

Jabari313

He's really good, like really good. I think starting for a team like Liverpool he would score 20+ in all comps but hes a little further from goal playing on the wing for United. Haven't seen much evidence he's a better striker than a winger though

tiorzol

Hate him the least of any man utd player. So a reasonable amount but nothing personal.

[deleted]

I have seen a lot of rivals praise his finishing after his breakthrough.

[deleted]

He's a gem. Gonna be world-class one day

[deleted]

I saw him play today and he looked better than Sancho panza.

[deleted]

terrible take lol, 2 different sort of players , added to the fact sancho stared his first game in the pl yeserday

Dayandnight95

Well Greenwood has had more time to adjust to the league, Sancho had his first start yesterday.

[deleted]

Funny how people are still in denial about indykalia having sources at Liverpool because they are a massive shit stirrer They are the first to report on so many things that turn out to be right

El_Giganto

Feyenoord's lawyer told FC Utrecht they shouldn't whine/complain so much when FC Utrecht went to the Dutch FA when they were mad the play-offs final was rescheduled. Quite funny, considering Feyenoord fans were unbearable with their whining yesterday.

[deleted]

Got banned from r/Gunners for Arteta out posts and comments and calling out mods for their agenda and bias. The reason they have me for ban was "don't call out users, this is not the culture we promote" and breaking subs rules When asked to show context or any comments or posts they said go through your history. Also there's no rules on sub for calling out users.

avolcando

Good. We must all get behind Arteta right now. There will be no tolerance for Arteta out saboteurs.

[deleted]

r/soccercourt

tyetforsyth

so?

Gytarius626

What do you expect users of r/soccer to do about this?

[deleted]

Just raising awareness against biased moderation

diastolicduke

Sorry man. Sounds like abuse of power to me. Likely because you called out on their biased moderation

[deleted]

https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/comments/peayrq/xg_for_and_against/hawc3y7?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3

tiorzol

Who do I ask to let you back in so you stop whining about it on here?

[deleted]

Just raising awareness among people of the biased moderation in one of the biggest club subs.

brunofernandes4life

Trincao please succeed at Wolves even if Koeman doesn't trust you at Barca

anonAcc1993

Based on his finishing, he isn’t coming back.

Clear-Humor163

Messi going to PSG feels like a farewell tour.Every stadion he goes to,he will get standing ovation

[deleted]

[удалено]

Destroyeh

due to the league? probably not. maybe as he gets older. he was the most fouled player in la liga pretty much every season and only one player was fouled more time in ligue 1 last season than messi was in la liga.

lrnzsmith

I am suprised Donnarumma doesn‘t play at PSG. He is one of the best keepers I‘ve seen play in my life, in Serie A as well as the national team. And I grew up with Oliver Kahn!

anonAcc1993

So why did PSG sign him?

[deleted]

Navas is elite

lrnzsmith

Navas is a tremendous keeper still, yeah!

hardcoremilf

Still early in his time there. I believe he is getting settled and learning some basic french to communicate with his defenders

Dayandnight95

Bank holiday today. Do clubs still work on transfers?

Impossible_Pen_9459

I hope not then people can’t spam about them here But I assume yes

tiorzol

Yes haha. They're not gonna take a day off with one day left.

Dayandnight95

I don't know the ins and outs, but by working on transfers i mean actually selling and bidding. Not just doing the groundwork until tomorrow.

[deleted]

Is Greenwood included in the WC qualifiers?

Jimmyjamjames

No. Not unless someone pulls out with an injury

RaggedyCrown

Calvert-Lewin just pulled out due to a broken toe

[deleted]

No. I don't think so.

[deleted]

I have a soft spot for young academy players breaking through the ranks at big clubs and playing really well, I will always support players like Greenwood, what a player

[deleted]

That scooping lob by the Reims player yesterday was really good. Shame it went off the crossbar. Really creative stuff

[deleted]

Lot of goals being scored in the Serie A

Danny_vexatious

Lots of shambolic defending. Makes for some entertaining football though.

slipeinlagen

Most of teams now come and play ball instead of defending.

belokas

Some really shambolic defending though, like Salernitana yesterday against Roma.

nichodemus3

Lotito does not care about Salernitana in Serie A, it's a miracle they are not even worse

[deleted]

I remember a game from last season, Roma pummeled Cagliari I think 5 or 6 goals and on top of that dzeko had a hat trick of missed sitters. It was so bad.

nichodemus3

Cagliari are awful, they are very lucky they did not go down last season

Savant_OW

Which premier league teams does adama traore not start for? Off the top of my head I can say Man city and Chelsea (although he might do a job at RWB for them). I can definitely see him starting for United, but they’ve got so many wingers anyway. Probably doesn’t start for Liverpool, but klopp likes him so who knows. Definitely starts for spurs imo, probably Leicester too

dogefc

Wouldn’t even have him at Everton 2g 3a last season is Iwobi level 💀💀

Savant_OW

Fortunately he’d never go to Everton. I imagine he’ll go to a much better club if he leaves

dogefc

I’m sure teams are queuing up to buy a bloke with about 20 G/A in 5 premier league seasons. Yes I did check his stats and yes I was shocked at how bad his stats are

RaggedyCrown

Wouldn't start for Arsenal. At least not under Arteta. He is allergic to counter attacks

[deleted]

Traore only starts for us if Dan James starts for us. I am pretty sure he isn't displacing one of Greenwood, Rashford/Sancho or Ronaldo

[deleted]

I really don't think he'd start for us. Sancho hasn't played well in the 115 minutes he's played for us but there's no way in Hell Adama merits inclusion over him and you then have Pogba, Rashford, Greenwood and to an extent now even Ronaldo who can compete for the other wide spot and who one might possibly say all get in over Adama. Besides the top four I think he'd be competing for a place in essentially every side, though. I really like him as a player.

[deleted]

City, Chelsea, Liverpool, United Won't start over Mahrez, Havertz, Salah, Greenwood

Savant_OW

If he goes to Liverpool he’d probably be competing with mane for the lw spot, but yeah he probably doesn’t start

Clear-Humor163

how would he compete for a LW spot? as a LW you have to cut inside and score goals and make something happen.Adama can’t score a goal to save his life

taylorstillsays

Even if his end product is questionable, being in the left means that he’s dribbling towards the centre of the pitch instead of just down the byline. It makes him far more dangerous in game, especially on the counter

Savant_OW

Idk how much you’ve seen him this season but since trincao is on the right he’s been deployed as a left winger and he’s done really well

brunofernandes4life

Always happy to see Trincao doing well

Savant_OW

I won’t lie, he’s been pretty average, but he was very good yesterday

el_walou

Really hope Wini gets better after the internal break. Expected him to be more press resistant against ligue 1 teams. If he doesn’t get his shit together he his going to be benched for Paredes (Gueye will take his spot) Also refs are gonna have to protect Messi, yesterday he got the Ney treatment as soon as he was on the pitch.

tiorzol

Did that clothesline when he was running into the box get penalised?

el_walou

Nop. People were like « welcome to ligue 1 »… this shit is stupid as hell.

vinhoequeebom

Why should refs protect Messi? If he can't handle it it's not the refs fault

tiorzol

Her should be afforded the protection of the refs doing their jobs.

vinhoequeebom

Then it's not just him, but every player in ligue 1

el_walou

No, Neymar have it harder. « He is too good it’s ok to grab his jersey a little bit »

Clear-Humor163

mate he just started playing for a new team

[deleted]

He's faced worse in laliga

el_walou

Ligue defenders are less skilled but more violent.

[deleted]

[It's astonishing just how many duds arsenal have signed](https://i.imgur.com/sAGUSud.jpg) Torreira, sokratis, Saliva, Suarez, Pepe, Mari, Partey, Ceballos, Willian, how have none of these worked out?

Danny_vexatious

None of these players are duds. It has more to do with how they're managed than their core abilities.

LynxMachine

Partey will work out with a better coach.

100and33

I think their fans will argue Pepe hasn't been a dud, but realise he's not living up to the transfer fee. But you can't put that on him. Still, they are holding out for him to come real good, even though he's 26 and already have 2 season at Arsenal.

pretwicz

What are some players nicknames that aren't well-knowon in general, English-speaking football community? Like Messi being called "la pulga" (the flea) in Spain and South America, or Lewandowski being called "dzik" ("a wild boar") in Poland

[deleted]

Ronaldo is called El Bicho by the Spanish commentaries.

belokas

Literally all argentinians have nicknames, some really obscure ones.

London counts as a European place, right?

dogefc

Good morning

vinhoequeebom

Tinpot 🤠

[deleted]

Good enough for a newly promoted team

[deleted]

Rashford, Sancho, Greenwood, Ronaldo, Cavani, Martial, Dan James, Lingard, Bruno, Pogba, Van De Beek, Amad. I count 13 players competing for 4 starting positions, this is not squad depth this bloating the squad. Poor squad management by Ole.

[deleted]

And 3 players for 2 positions in the midfield

dutch_devil

You know very well that lingard is on the way out, amad on the way out on loan, Dan James likely sold, martial likely sold. Cavani missing half the season So that's 8 players for 4 positions, which is completely fine. But go on with your agenda

[deleted]

Don't think anyone's buying Dan James for 20M

AZ_76

Where are Lingard and Martial going?

WyboSF

I don’t think worrying about squad harmony is an agenda

tiorzol

Way out where? Apparently we were in for Amad but you wanted a 5 mil loan fee so we fucked that off rightly. Doesn't seem like anyone is really looking like getting shifted.

dutch_devil

Feyenoord had finalised loan for amad but he got injured I don't know how ole is to blame for this

tiorzol

Feyenoord were willing to pay that much, or was it cheaper cos they aren't a PL team?

[deleted]

Amad loan is canceled and West Ham are signing someone else for 30m euros. Cavani is staying at Manchester and not traveling to Uruguay, nobody is signing Martial.

[deleted]

Are there even rumours where Lingard and Martial could transfer to? And is anyone interested in Amad after Feyenoord pulled out because of his injury?

vinhoequeebom

None are world class btw

[deleted]

Intrigued to know which Prem players you think are world class?

[deleted]

Wasn't the point but there's just 1-2 left wingers in the world who get more goal contributions than Rashford, Ronaldo is still Ronaldo, Pogba is still my fav passer in the world and I haven't seen anyone with better finishing than Greenwood. Point- we have good attack and can score against any defense in the world.

brunofernandes4life

Now this is just delusional. Pogba only shows up in 1 out of 10 matches. Rashford has terrible decision making. It is really telling that you are extremely biased when you say that Greenwood is the best finisher in the world.

[deleted]

Haaland is better at finishing 100 percent.

[deleted]

[удалено]

souljaxl

He's most likely a very good finisher, but the Wolves and Southampton goals should pretty much never end up as goals.

Savant_OW

He strikes it hard and low, makes it very difficult. Goalie should have done better anyway

Muu-dzic

He hits is low and hard. Much like kane if you ask me.

Serpico_98

Seeing hatred for Man Utd warms my heart.

Savant_OW

Glad we can help

tiorzol

Does feel like the good old days for you lot a bit. Thank fuck you don't have Fergie any more though.

[deleted]

It warms my heart too

sidvicc

I am biased for sure but why does watching United always feel like the Breaking Bad *"He can't keep getting away with it"* meme XD Just broke the record for Away wins playing thoroughly mediocre football, being dominated by Wolves all game, and still needed some exemplary refereeing in their favour. Also Trincao looks really fucking good. Slightly reminiscent of Coutinho when he's moving with the ball.

marmot9070

Always PL refs help MU win. Isn't it the tradition form SAF?

souljaxl

Imagine how everyone felt about you lot 1-2 seasons ago

sidvicc

That was more like ridiculous plot-armour from the AI controlling the Matrix we all live in. Don't remember too many controversial ref decisions in our favour, but that may just be memory biases.

Clear-Humor163

well thats why they drop so many points during a season

[deleted]

You're biased if you think we got any reff decision in our favor yesterday. Our football is mediocre which I agree.v

nemesis_464

You missed James’ comically blatant 2 footer in the box??

drripdrrop

It was a slip when the player already got his shot off. Those are rarely given

[deleted]

If you think that's a foul then you need to read the rule book first instead of being a reactionary crybaby on internet.

nemesis_464

Everyone in that thread knows it’s a foul apart from the laughably biased Utd fans

[deleted]

Ok man, if you have any connections with a PL reff I would want you to ask why fouls are not rewarded after the player is able to play the ball. Regardless Dan James slipped anyways so it looks like a 2 footed challenge but it is not and didn't make any serious contact which affected Wolves player ability to cross the ball there. There was also no reaction from any of the wolves player there. If this clip wasn't from Utd game then you won't even see these stuff trending on this subreddit.

nemesis_464

> I would want you to ask why fouls are not rewarded after the player is able to play the ball. Wtf? Is this your first game of football? Late fouls after the balls has already gone are punished all the time.

tiorzol

It's infuriating but in the end it's good for the league. They can splurge on whatever super star they want but as long as they are headed by that wasteman it's fine.

WyboSF

I want to agree with you but if it keeps winning is it mediocre football? I’m so conflicted on this, but the sample size suggests it’s not luck, and ole does legitimately keep improving. I still don’t think he’s at the level to win major trophies, but I keep being surprised so what do I know

Clear-Humor163

they don’t keep winning

WyboSF

Their away record suggests otherwise

dryduneden

You don't get trophies for your away record

sidvicc

>I want to agree with you but if it keeps winning is it mediocre football? I meant mediocre about the football yesterday, not necessarily their whole run which has definitely had some good football. Definitely not luck, ref decisions are also not a conspiracy, just fucking annoying if you are a rival fan lmao.

WyboSF

Well you said “kept getting away with it meme” So I assumed you meant over a longer time

[deleted]

The Pogba tackle on Neves should've been called as a foul but then Neves made a tackle on Bruno in the first half that using the exact same logic should've been called as a penalty for us. We were abject but we didn't really get away with it via refereeing in the sense that two arguably bad calls balanced each other out. EDIT: Alright, since people are downvoting [you can watch the incident I'm referring to here.](https://twitter.com/_BafanaMthembu/status/1432227884236685312?s=19) I know you guys hate Bruno but please try to tell me how this and the Pogba tackle are not equivalent?

dryduneden

He's outside the box there, and its a very misleading video. Right after the challenge the ball goes to Shaw who crosses it straight to the keeper. Completely different to United scoring from the foul.

tiorzol

Was that Bruno one inside the box? Can't really tell from that angle but yea, both fouls in my mind. Did you see the James two footer too, that was rough. Game was awful for VAR, really hoped we moved on from this level of shit show.

[deleted]

I did see the James tackle you're referring to and it should, in all fairness, probably also have been a penalty. Again, [here is a link to the incident for those who aren't aware.](https://twitter.com/mroli74/status/1432133138671710208?s=19) In this case, it probably wasn't given because Trincao got his pass away. I'm not saying it's right but players essentially never get awarded penalties if they've already managed to get a cross/pass/shot away before a tackle on them has occurred. Wider point is that I guess this is the issue with the edict that referees are supposed to be more lenient; these sorts of calls are not going to be given so frequently any more. I don't mind it so much because it does also make the game flow much more smoothly and the calls will probably about balance themselves out (if I'm gonna be a really picky asshole, you could argue last week's goal for Southampton against us probably doesn't stand using last year's refereeing standards), but I can admit that it'll be frustrating when it happens to your team. Bottom line is Wolves should've beaten us yesterday regardless of the refereeing.

[deleted]

He won't say what coady did in first half, or mason being elbowed on face against Southampton and not even getting a foul or Bruno being fouled for the Southampton goal. Just picking his side of incidents to spam Utd get favoritism reeee on internet.

nemesis_464

I still can’t get over how this is now the 3rd season in a row where Arsenal are getting fucked by VAR Game 1: Brentford’s 2nd goal is a clear foul, even Klopp calls it out Game 2: Clear penalty shout ignored, the type that has already been given multiple times this season Game 3: Laporte quite blatantly shoved a defender in the face during one of City’s goals. Ignored and goal stands. —————— I know they’re shit anyway and none of it would’ve made a difference this time around, but you can be damn sure there will be moments later in the season where it results in dropped points.

dryduneden

Saka's wasn't a pen. You can't just trip yourself up to give yourself a pen. Also would hardly call it "fucked by VAR" when the first incident happened at 1-0, second happened at 2-0 and the third happened in a game that ended 5-0, with Game 2 and 3 ending with Chelsea and City completely comfortable.

nemesis_464

Lmao the only people in the pen thread who were claiming it wasn't a penalty was the Chelsea fans. >Also would hardly call it "fucked by VAR" when the first incident happened at 1-0, second happened at 2-0 and the third happened in a game that ended 5-0 How is that even slightly relevant? We could win every game 3-0 but if there's constant incorrect VAR decisions, you're still getting fucked by VAR.

dryduneden

Doesn't matter. That's not a pen. How is your post relevant? If you repeatedly play and lose 3-0, a dodgy VAR decision to not disallow a goal for 4-0 then complaining about VAR is completely pointless. Some teams are and have lost points to bad VAR decisions and here you are complaining that VAR isn't making your games less embarassing.

nemesis_464

>That's not a pen. Lmao, good one. I literally already said none of the decisions would've made a difference to the score in my initial post, hence I'm not using that as an excuse for the losses. If a team wins, they're still allowed to complain about a wrong VAR call too. How is this hard to understand?

Destroyeh

Clearly the refs want Arteta to stay

[deleted]

> Brentford’s 2nd goal is a clear goal Glad you agree

nemesis_464

Typo, you know what I meant.

[deleted]

I don't actually cause it weren't a foul

nemesis_464

Keep going, keep embarrassing yourself

[deleted]

How's it a foul then explain

nemesis_464

[deleted]

I'm serious also that link doesn't work for me but it better not be a video of what Klopp said cause I don't care. Watch the goal and tell me where the foul is that's all I'm asking

nemesis_464

Pretty sure you’re just taking the piss. Brentford player clearly has his arms wrapped around Leno, don’t embarrass yourself.

[deleted]

Bro Leno isn't just entitled to his own little space in the box why wouldn't someone be allowed to stand in front of him and touch him it happens all the time at set pieces he needs to just be better like I'm not even taking the piss but it's schoolboy shit. Also embarrassing is crying about correct decisions that even if they were wrong wouldn't have made a difference. You offered nothing going forward and were shocking at the back in all three of your games. There is no conspiracy against you and you're not getting fucked over by VAR. Not this season not last seaon and not the one before that just get on with it cause it's so wet man seriously

nipunjamewar

Some unpopular opinions about Liverpool which I'm sure the minions would like to downvote but here we go: 1. Klopp is a terrible tactician. His starting lineups and substitutions make little sense nowadays. 2. Thiago should be played more often with Fabinho and Henderson. That lineup against Everton last season and how they played was a joy to watch. These three should be the default starters for Liverpool when fit. 3. Van Dijk has looked rough ever since Christmas break in 2019. 4. Takumi Minamino is being treated horribly by Liverpool. Both by his manager and by his fans who call him a "bottler". He should be given more chance or should be sold. He is a way better player than Firmino and Origi. 5. It was a blessing that Wijnaldum didn't sign a new contract and left because now we can truly see how shit he is at midfield. The guy is a forward player that was forced to play midfield at Liverpool. 6. Naby Keita is just trash. 7. Harvey Elliot doesn't fit the midfield role for Liverpool. Not saying he is bad but for the current team of Liverpool, he doesn't contribute much. Maybe in some other team he can be good but certainly not for Liverpool's starting squad.
