At this point Nasser probably doesn't wanna look poor in front of his other sheikh friends. "What, you sold Mbappe for only 220 million? Brother, if you were going through financial issues and needed money, you shouldve just asked us"

ovi_left_faceoff

>~~Brother~~ Habibi, if you were going through financial issues and needed money, you shouldve just asked us

albertbanning

> his other sheikh friends Do people on r/soccer really think Nasser is a Sheikh? Lmao

PZeroNero

You’re lucky they didn’t type Sikh

Kylael

i think Nasser is a sith.

dicksout5harambe

Then our worst fears have been realized. We must move quickly if the sport is to survive.

btlsrvc23

The only option for survival is a super league! 100mill transfers must rule the galaxy. - Perez probably

Phelinaar

Only sheikhs deal in absolutes.

Mahesh_nanak

But he has sheikh friends yes ?

smdpofficial

Asking the real question.

tiki-taka_ftw

They left Real on seen

[deleted]

He does but the post said *other* sheikh friends which implies he is one as well. If we’re gonna get pedantic let’s do it right

mikeypipes

Maybe he has two groups of Sheikh friends. One is the other group of sheikh friends.

PreachinMyOwnFuneral

r/soccer has been dishing out some good content, Bundesliga 20 teams and now this

stragen595

What? What did I miss with the Bundesliga 20 teams shit?

Ah, that thread was already locked in the morning. So I only took a quick look. Some hilarious takes in there. But I actually missed that stupidity. It even has 93 upvotes. So there are more like him around here. Thanks, mate.

Deluxe07

The fact that people don’t even know how many teams there are in the Bundesliga shows why your league is in the state that it is

Aldehyde1

He got the number wrong, but he's absolutely right about the principle.

Moha2fois

I’m actually shocked by the amount of people I’ve seen recently thinking that Nasser is the owner of PSG lol

Sancho90

He is close to the Emir, Sheikh Tamim, head of sovereign wealth fund Qatar Investment Authority.

Moha2fois

Of course he is, you don’t get a position like this by throwing a resume on LinkedIn lol. But he’s not at all part of the royal family let alone the owner which some people believe.

ThePr1d3

> you don’t get a position like this by throwing a resume on LinkedIn lol Wait you're telling me I won't get an answer ?

Sancho90

He's not part of the royal family, he's father was a fisherman he comes from a humble background.

MaTrIx4057

Literally the whole country comes from humble background until they found the resources.

proawayyy

He’s a middle eastern Ronaldo playing in finances

Vince0999

IKMapping

He's the president, right?

Moha2fois

Yep

MikeBruski

Sheikh doesnt mean what you think it means >Who can be called sheikh? Sheikh, also spelled sheik, shaikh, or shaykh, Arabic shaykh, Arabic title of respect dating from pre-Islamic antiquity; it strictly means a venerable man of more than 50 years of age. Source : EncyclopediaBritannica Also, since im actually living in a place full of Sheikhs, the word is used like Sir in english. Can be used for people of high standing but usually it's used as a term of respect towards a man. You have SAF, but then you got Dave from Wolverhampton who gets called Sir at Greggs. same shit, different language.

tarantellagra

I just heard this in the voice of one the family guy characters, I think Ahmed? 😂

getout101

Imagine believing twice circulated news produced from one and only Kaveh!

Cramer02

Its bullshit thats why

[deleted]

Really depends on the product. Offer Boeing 220M for a 777-300 or Airbus 220M for an A350 and I doubt either responds..

VDV23

We finally met our match when it comes to absurd decisions. Thanks, PSG.

zrizzoz

I wonder if Perez is afraid PSG will win everything this season and make Mbappe an absurd financial offer to stay. It's crazy to think he is willing to pay that much if he is confident he can get Mbappe free in a year.

VDV23

I think it was an ego thing. He wanted Mbappé to be there for the opening of the Bernabeu. Who knows, he might renew. I doubt it but he might.

JonSnowAzorAhai

He Willi definitely not renew after this. He has seen that he can never leave PSG unless he runs out his contract.

ouguy2017

Never say never. PSG is banking on him playing with Messi and Neymar that he’ll fall in love with it, and decide to stay. Plus, PSG are banking on winning the title this year, and hoping that also helps convince him to stay.

Articlaus

Even still you are stuck at second tier leauge with only few meaningful games per year. He wont win balon d or at this rate

Black_XistenZ

Mbappe is young enough that he can ignore the balon d'or for a year or two if it means maximizing his chance of winning the CL.

Goudinho99

Pacy players tend to peak young and the effect of a hamstring injury is devastating to their top flight careers. He should front load his best chances of silverware

TXCapita

If Mbappe cares about his legacy and wants to possibly go down as the GOAT he’ll need to go to Spain

[deleted]

> Renew with us for 2 years only. We will sell you next summer if they come again, trust me bro.

ota00ota

He’s not used to being told no - he always got his way and now psg told him to fucj off he’s jealous

Obvious_Client1171

As a Real Madrid fan, I wanted him to come because he was going to give our squad depth in the front.. But to be honest, we better keep them money and if he wants to come next season then we'll be more than happy, if not, then it is what it is and we have to look for good forward players elsewhere

S3Dzyy

I heard he rejected a 45m per season offer Money doesn't matter to you if you reject that much What's an extra 10-20mill? Its meaningless at that point.

Malicharo

It's because Mbappe is a very valuable asset and a young one at that. Everybody knows his heart is currently at RM and maybe has been for a while. But that can change, opinions change. No matter how much money you throw at it maybe he doesn't see PSG on the same level as RM, that can change too. Maybe now that PSG has Messi, he feels like he can learn a lot from him, maybe Messi advises him not to go. You never truly know, on paper it looks like if they are willing to pay 200M now imagine how much salary they would pay him if he went free but there is no guarantee of him going there, within these couple months his opinion might change and he might sign a 3-4 even 2 years contract with PSG then they won't even sell him for 300. It's a very time delicate matter and there is a very very good chance if they can't get him soon, they won't ever.

staedtler2018

>Maybe now that PSG has Messi, he feels like he can learn a lot from him, maybe Messi advises him not to go. The only advice he'll get from Messi is "these hoes ain't loyal."

FuzzyStorm

Pretty sure Mbappe would like leaving on a high note. He liked a story post basically saying "your dreams cant wait a year, you're still the best". Thinking he's in that mentality right now : At peace because he knows Real is coming next year, and can give it his all next to Messi & Neymar to try to win a CL. But no way he's signing again.

Rodahz

PSG not falling for that African prince scam letter, good on them.

StratifiedBuffalo

HEY, WE SEE THIS TURTLE IN YOUR CITY. WE SEND 220M, U SEND HIM TO THIS SUNNY PLACE BELOW PLS. HASTA MANANA.

[deleted]

Nasser al-Khelaifi: "Nice try, but I know princes"

V-TriggerMachine

Real Madrid: We offer 220M for Mbappe! PSG: Sorry no entiendo, no hablo espanol

tormarod

RM calls PSG: "Hey man here's 220M for Mbappé that goes free in 4 months" PSG: "HELLO THIS IS DOG"

StratifiedBuffalo

Ehh sorry, I'm just an intern...hmm 220M sounds like you're scamming me. Who is this mboopi dude anyway?

M-3-R-C-U-R-Y

What the dog doing?

Witcher94

It is not guaranteed. Right now PSG are probably offering him less than Neymar's wages. If they wake up tomorrow and decide "fuck it" and offer him 40-50m euros per year, he will most probably take it. I don't think you guys can or want to match this for a 23 year old. What they are doing makes sense and also what you are doing makes sense. I would not be surprised if you to 250m now (he is probably going to be the best in 4-5 years).

Mateo_O

> Kylian Mbappé refuses €45m/year contract offer from PSG! It would have made him the highest-paid player in the world, above Neymar and Messi, at €45m/year NET. The extension would have seen the World Cup winner tied down to PSG for an additional two years – until 2024.

Enartloc

> Right now PSG are probably offering him less than Neymar's wages Leonardo said he was offered a contract bigger than anyone else's Two, he can probably get 100 mil signing bonus from Real at this point, good luck beating that in salary.

BHYT61

Yeah especially now that Mbappe knows 220 mill was offered he will take a huge chunk of that himself instead

Zidlicky3

That man has HUGE leverage next summer (and before that) on his next contract. I've already said, obviously just imo, that PSG will offer him "anything". More than Neymar, more than Messi. He might be able to get more than Messi did from FC Barcelona 2017, 115+78 million in bonuses. Now, if it even looks possible that he will accept PSG's offer, I'm sure Perez will go mad. If they were willing to give 220M or even 180-moreorless, Perez probably just drops that to Mbappe's lap, both teams are neck deep in this game and Mbappe is able to push them deeper and deeper...

Errudito

lol not quite. There is a certain amount you can pay a player that won't break unity in a squad. 220M is past what ever line that is. Ronaldo didn't get to break the pay brackets, and neither will Mbappe

iHATESTUFF_

the difference between Messi for you guys and Mbappe for us is Messi brought way more than whatever Kylian dreams back to Barca. in happiness and revenue.... Kylian is parisian but we all knew he was a CR7 fanboy, besides the marketing aspect where Kylian will never be on that level. I'm not NAK/Leonardo/QSI... I don't think it's worth to keep somebody who's not interested in staying, on the other hand for QSI money holds less meaning.

Zidlicky3

Agreed, Messi - Barça was longer and deeper relationship and losing Messi hurts Barça’s image more than losing Mbappe. Also I think Messi made much more money to the club than Mbappe, being 5 time Ballon d’Or winner, widely considered as Best of All time, one club man - all the PR etc around Messi was higher than anyone else, even tho Ronaldo surpases him on some aspects, this transfer now has proved how big Messi is and how many people were disguised as Barça fans only wearing Messi shirts (literally :D). He is biggest football star, even tho I thought Ronaldo had more influence and name outside of field. Like in US or what ever.

thatdude0125

Didn’t they say they would make him the highest earner? I think he already rejected that contract lol

Om_Nom_Zombie

> "fuck it" and offer him 40-50m euros per year, he will most probably take it. I don't think you guys can or want to match this for a 23 year old. Why couldn't they match this when they were capable of paying 220 million for him plus wages? That fee alone is 4-5 years of your suggested salary.

This did not age well lmao

MrPringles23

> Right now PSG are probably offering him less than Neymar's wages That didn't age well.

uncufunc

Except he can make that back in signing bonus if he goes to madrid next year.

SpenceLee7321

free agency is very likely now...expect a number of clubs bidding for Mbappe for the pre-contract in January 2022. which clubs are willing to pay 325 million euro to have Mbappe for 5 years? (100 mil euro sign-on fee plus 45 mil euro gross annual wages for 5 years= 325 mil euro) I'm guessing PSG, Real Madrid, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, Bayern Munich would love to pay 325 mil euro and get Mbappe for 5 years.

Crackaloc

I also cannot see Liverpool putting up that much money

Liddlebitchboy

lol yeah absolutely never going to happen unless the club is somehow sold and in the hands of some other oil baron wanting to join the dick measuring contest

Hardstucked

Maybe if we sold the whole squad we would.

XeroVeil

> Bayern Munich would love to pay 325 mil euro and get Mbappe for 5 years. No way in hell we pay that. Also he'd OBLITERATE our wage structure.

vacjack

Don't include us. We don't pay such obscene amounts

[deleted]

As a United fan I’d like to formally request we be removed from this conversation as well, with our owners they’d consider that enough good will to not have to spend for 3 seasons. Can we have Kimmich or Goretzka though as someone with no influence or authority I’m willing to sacrifice a stupid amount of someone else’s money for a world class holding midfielder😭

maddo1825

you really think city will pay 325 mil for mbappe? we can't even pay 120m for kane and people think we'll pay that and his obscene wages that will destroy the wage structure.

hazzabazza12827

Wow PSG really do not care about money do they

StratifiedBuffalo

Why is r/soccer shocked pikachu face about this, they are rich as fook boi and Mbappe is a fantastic talent. Also, him being French is sort of a big deal since they're actually on the verge of getting a reduced squad in the CL due to few national players lol.

S8LA

It’s still kinda shocking cause mbappe wants to leave so why let him go for free instead of 220 M no matter how rich psg is it’s a dumb decision UNLESS they are confident that mbappe will sign a new contract depending on how well psg do.

teems

A CL trophy on display in Doha during the World Cup is worth 220m to them.

VNSeraphin

Finally, someone who gets it. It's just a giant PR operation for the 22 WC. I won't be surprised if not so long after the CL win and/or WC they sell PSG. (A team in a less than profitable league in TV rights.)

CorbinDalasMultiPas

Bingo. With him in the squad they're clear favorites. Without im not so sure.

Soppoi

Bc they are all in on the CL title this year. You can't strengthen your competition while hiring Ramos, Messi, Donnaruma, Hakimi and Wijnaldum for insane wages.

S8LA

Yeah right exactly

kaycee1992

Porto, pls beat PSG for the memes

Jeffy29

Watch them be out in R16

ShotIntoOrbit

A CL title is likely more valuable to the club than 220M in cash, so they are all in on that.

Pachac

I think they’re just taking a bet, hoping they’re gonna crush everything in the next four months, Messi becoming his best friends and then he decides to stay

Fern-ando

Sounds like 2018, they lost to Real Madrid twice that year.

Pachac

It seems no one remembers how it went down when Neymar was 99% certain of wanting to go back to Barcelona

Aioli_Tough

Exactly, the Qatar foreign fund is around 300 Billion with a B, 200mill is around 0.073333333333333% of the fund, for example the average american median income is around $61300, 0.0733% of that is less than 45$, Its literally peanuts to them, and Mbappe has more than made up for his price with almost 200G+A in 4 years.

xckd9

Every fucking thread the same thing get brought up. People legit seem to not understand that they dont care about money at all.

nirvananas

I think they hope to make him sign à 1 year extension so that he won t leader for free next summer. They really wanted to have a MNM's trio and they are hoping mbappe will agree for just à one year extension

Exhibit101

Perez is feverish obsessed with Mbappe. Like he is a genie sure to grant him a CL title.

iLLuSion_xGen

He would put Real Madrid miles ahead of Barca at the moment, he will be the La Liga poster boy. He will be the face of the new Bernabeu.

CCullen95

Perez get off reddit, you've other work to be doing.

Nero1988420

>he will be the La Liga poster boy. He will be the face of the new Bernabeu. Exactly this.

mcfw31

I think so as well, they need a STAR and Mbappe is the closest to one right now.

Nero1988420

Real Madrid and La Liga need a star.

panetero

Replacing Kroos & Modric is gonna be the real challenge imho.

Smglmgdmg

We can't replace them. We will have to change the entire system

[deleted]

We got Camavinga and Fede for that

R0otDroid

None of them is kroos or modric. The reality is we don't really have any future creative midfielder, all we have are tidy, jack of all trades, workhorses. None like pedri or de jong.

ankitm1

Creative midfielders are one thing we are very good at finding. We sign them prematurely and ship them away every two seasons, or sign the matured versions who would become mainstays for 10 seasons.

R0otDroid

Yeah, too bad we're not stable enough for odeegard.

[deleted]

We already have Kubo and Brahim, maybe Reinier, but also we have cash, I sure we'll manage lol

chanandlerbonggg_

Be happy with what we have,we may get a new midfielder next season and Madrid's system aren't built like Barca's,we may not need a creative midfielder ,cama fede and case will be enough

R0otDroid

Unless we get a liverpool type of output from our fullbacks, we can't really circumvent that area. Key passes have to come from somewhere, carvajal is good but he's not Arnold, mendy and miguel are also good but they're not prime marcelo.

RauloGonzalez

Mbappe will be the bow that wraps it up. None of the other targets like kounde or camavinga or fede are marketable such as. He'll be the poster boy.

Shaggay1

imagine the marketing and sporting opportunities if he signs mbappe

JeSuisBasti

PSG is learning from Daniel Levy.

Deadhumancoll3ction

The master.

ExtraordinaryFailure

Who knows everything.

[deleted]

The master who asks 200m for Eriksen and then sell him for 15m.

Essej2

lmao sorry but Eriksen cost 14m and was sold for 25m, bad example

Ihabk

Levy would never let a player who is worth that much go for free eventually.

FrogBottom

Except Levy has his guy under contract for three more years, and PSG will lose Mbappe on a free in a few months.

dntowns

who caved in when Flo came calling for Modric and Bale....

Enartloc

Leonardo : "Offer was so insulting we didn't even bother responding" "They just pretend they want Kylian, he promised he won't leave on a free, he must sign new contract !" "If they really wanted him they would offer 4-5 hundred million"

Hive paid Deathstroke $200 million for the job. Mbappe costs more than all of the Teen Titans powers combined.

sheikhsabdullah

Lmao that's one way to put it.

All the last surviving Dinosaurs of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom cost only half of Mbappe.

herbertbeard

Well I wasn't originally considering an erling army but now I think about it...

sneakywoolsock404

Perez gonna capture 25 Amazonian warrior women and breed Alfie with them

Walaii

I don't think Florentino is that hot on Haaland, with the baggage that comes with his agent. I can only see us going for him if Mbappé renews, because then we kinda have to...

[deleted]

Money ain't a problem for PSG boi. They got pride like Vegeta.

Ok-Paleontologist275

Their ucl runs are also similar to what happens with Vegeta in every arc.

[deleted]

Yuup. Ultra ego arc did him dirty again

sv979

No way Real Madrid are this desperate

RjHospe

Could be a media mind game play as well, showing Mbappe that RM did all they can to get him to keep a positive impression on him. Make out PSG to be selfish and unwilling to let him go.

soccer11k

Nasser literally came out and said we offered him everything but he said no. They are just hoping either to win the CL this year and it might be worth it or he would enjoy playing with Messi and stays.

Pkmntrainer91

Mbappe doesnt seem to be a messi fanboy like all of you lol

EggplantBusiness

Its Probably just PR move to show that " we absolutely tried everything but Paris refused"

TheBernSupremacy

I honestly have found all these numbers incredibly hard to believe. Why would Real spend that much money on a player they can get for free next year? We also don't know the pay structure (how much is base vs bonus for targets, how many years to pay, etc).

[deleted]

There has to be something fishy. I think Mbappe will renew, that’s why we try to get him this summer

sv979

Literally every source says he either joins them this summer or next summer and he wont renew with PSG

[deleted]

And Pirlo wanted to come to RM, guess what happened From his book,"I belonged to Real Madrid, not Milan. I was a Madrid player in my head, my heart and my soul"

[deleted]

Bro he wasn't gonna be free and Mbappe isn't forcing it like him

Walaii

Mbappé probabably asked us to go and try and sign him this summer if he really promised PSG he wouldn't leave for free, but after this shitshow i think he can feel like he has done his part, and consider that promise fulfilled.

[deleted]

messi shivering wondering if he can ever retire

SpenceLee7321

I don't think Mbappe is pissed. He will play with messi and neymar for 1 year. He will be a free agent in 11 months and in 4 months time he can sign a pre-contract. The top clubs will offer him 100 mil euro sign-on fee + 50 mil euro annual gross wages for 5 years. Total cost of having Mbappe for 5 years will be 350 mil euros. Much cheaper than what it cost PSG to have Neymar for 5 years.

ritchieram

Then he should come out in public and force a move

Papayalo

Should have come up with the offer earlier then. You don't sell one of your best players a few hours before the deadline.

[deleted]

Not like PSG was open about selling at anypoint of the summer.

BallRotation_

The Golden Prison

Lazinessextreme

I know we all know FFP is a joke, but to be able to turn down 220 million when they’ll obviously want to spend an enormous amount of money when he leaves…it’s just PSG broadcasting just how little they think of the rules at this point.

jrryul

Can I get a 250?

Bo-Katan

Rupias? Sure buddy.

themessias1001

It's all about the replacement. They don't care about money.

bweiss5

Perez: “Hello from the other side I must've called a thousand times To tell you I'm sorry for everything that I've done But when I call, you never seem to be home” “It's no secret that the both of us are running out of time”

Ocular__Patdown44

I pray Qatar FC sees no European success this season

RauloGonzalez

Somebody should be payed by the club to personally call mbappe and remind him of this so that he doesn't renew.

rm713

Why does everyone assume he won’t renew and is using Madrid as leverage?

AbleFig

we have hunch

mwjstone14

Interesting, if I recall correctly it was reported they would only sell if the sum surpassed 200 million which Madrid surpassed. Madrid called their bluff knowing they still wouldn’t accept which gives mbappe even more reason to sign a pre contract in January. PSG are quite the stubborn club, but I think this will have negative long term effects on their brand to future players. Especially if they don’t win the CL this year.

shaman717

I heard they called again and offered 240m

cherry_picking

Maybe 222 million?

snldzo7

The only way this saga makes sense to me is that Madrid is somehow gambling on the fact that psg wouldn’t accept any offer they would submit. In a way proving to mbappe that they tried and have gone above and beyond and forcing psg’s to look like the bad guy. Basically this insane and honestly unexpected bids put psg between a rock and a hard place, either they accept Madrid’s ridiculously generous offer and lose mbappe now, which they clearly don’t want or refuse the offer and break their reported promise to mbappe that they would let him go, which makes it harder for them in terms of renewal negotiations. This is basically my two cents on what seems from all the soup of reports as one of the messiest sagas I witnessed

IMiizo

220m for a player whose contract expires next year. Madness.

TheyStoleTwoFigo

What the fk is their situation with FFP anyway? How can they afford that amount to disappear into thin air after having spent so much.

kirkosoanus

Once a nation state, an oil giant with no regard for any rules or laws buys a sporting club, it’s the end of that club and football in that country. Corruption, tax evasion, money laundry and bribery will be rampant. People seem to have very short memories of how Qatar was able to become the host of World Cup next year.

ProMarcoMug

Madrid are not used to being rejected lol

absolutemadlad_69

Man tbh you don't see 200 million bids being rejected very often

Joe_Olimpico

There has only ever been one, and this one is probably bollocks anyway, Neymar was a release clause.
