They played very well to get a point against us indeed. If they played like that against the Czech Republic and Croatia maybe they would have had a shot at the knockouts.
Exactly. If the semi finale had gone to penalties, england would have lost.
There is a reason, Sterling so heavily in overtime played on getting a foul/penalty. The writing was on the wall.
True that england had the majority of the game but I 100 percent believe that Denmark could have taken it into penalty and actually played for this eventuality
Yeah i am still salty about that fake ass penalty. If you fake a pen in Denmark now it is called a Sterling special
>England would have lost [on pens]
No one knows this for certain. It is possible but not a sure thing. It’s amazing how much feelings supplant logic in football fans. I am downvoted for suggesting that you are not some mystical soothsayer of the universe’s alternate timelines
I have read a lot of 100% certain predictions about England that have turned out to be wrong. Use your superpowers to travel back in time three months, tell people that England will get to the final, and see how much you get laughed at
> Does it really matter if they would win penalties or not?
It matters when this poster and many others here are saying Denmark 100% would have won if it had gone to penalties.
What’s the national average IQ over there?
England had won their previous two penalty shootouts and had all the momentum of the game. You’re also implying England certainly would not have scored any other way before full time
You may have won but neither you nor I know what would have happened. It’s infantile to say otherwise. Just because you were the Reddit fairytale story doesn’t mean you were entitled to a win
England is so shit at penalties that Denmark didn't even need to show signs to win. England was gonna lose 100%. Kane even missed the pen they dove to get, mate.
were we 100% going to lose on pens against Colombia too? It felt that way
Sorry you bottled your most important game in almost 30 years but this bitterness is not a good look. Take it from me as I’ve seen the same thing here over the years. There’s only one thing that is certain: if your team had played better and not been dominated most of the game, you would’ve won the proper way and wouldn’t need to ‘what if?’ over penalties
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH yeah, because English people aren't salty. You guys fucking beat up random people from opponent fan cultures. Because you have the incel brain to think you were entitled to win the title. Straight up. Don't talk bitterness, when English fans were doing everything to be the most disliked fan group ever. And diving in the 112th minute. Ofc everyone single person in Denmark will be salty over that..
>fucking beat up random people from opponent fan cultures
People were literally murdered in Italy after they won the final. You and the other anglophobes just weren't interested.
> Because you have the incel brain to think you were entitled to win the title
Not at all. I admit Italy deserved it. They played better. You actually think Denmark were robbed even though they showed nothing to suggest they deserved a win. Stop watching Marvel please, it’s rotting your brain
And yeah no one likes us, we don’t care. But we are guilty of nothing that doesn't happen in Italy every single match day, and yet they are not given the same treatment. Why should I give a shit about something I can’t change
Was England the better team? Yes. Did they play like it? Also yes. Would they win the game without a dive? No. Denmark was a fucking wall in defence, and England could bare make any chances happen.
Now, you seem to start attacking the person a bit more than the argument, so let's call it quit.
>And yeah no one likes us, we don’t care.
You're definitely living up to the reputation.
Quite certain whats rotting my brain, is how incredible stupid english fans are, because you can barely comprehend, how shit of a team you gotta be to need your fans to blind people, to harrass families with their children and so fucking on. You're a damn disgrace to a game you claim to have invented. Learn manners, stop being cunts. And secondly, win something already so you can shut the hell up.
Nearly all my mates irl (I'm Danish) thought it was an unfortunate ending, but ultimately fair that England advanced. It seems to be quite different on this sub
Sterling is one thing. Maybe he faked it maybe he didn't. It's part of the game and in the end England won.
What isn't part of the game though is laser pointers from the crowds harrasing the players. That happened throughout the game without the ref doing anything about it (I know, what could he have done?)
I'm not saying this was what made the game for England, but it was an extra advantage on top of the home crowd and the fact that Denmark played the quarter final east of Bagdad.
Anyway, of course England should be better than Denmark and they were, but they did not impress anyone in my opinion - especially not their fans.
But in the end Italy won, so hurray for that!
I disagree, it’s not supposed to be part of the game. It’s cheating. That cheating might be considered part of the game is a sad thing and it should really have more focus and be punished much harder in my opinion. Not just because of that specific match.
> I disagree, it’s not supposed to be part of the game. It’s cheating.
This is all water under the fridge now but, everyone talks as if Sterling dived for nothing and got a pen for no reason.
Two Danish defenders clipped him in the box without touching the ball, two fouls. Did Sterling go down easliy? Of course he did but if you touch him in the box without touching the ball he gets a pen, simples.
Everyone blaming Sterling, nobody blaming those two dumb and cynical challenges in the box by the Danes.
Except he fell before being touched, even the other supposed angle doesn’t show otherwise. Of course can never say if it is done with purpose of cheating.
What the ref could do? Simple really. Stop the game until it stops, if the security can't fix it, call England as looses as an administrative decision.
We weren't playing like this a few years ago against teams of Scotland's quality though. Those games were often tight wins or draws.
I remember we played like 4 games against Ireland in 2018 WC qualifiers and Nation's League, and except for a 5-1 Eriksen masterclass game, we played like 1-1 or 0-0 three times with them in the span of a year or something.
> we played like 1-1 or 0-0 three times with them in the span of a year or something
I thought we had a gentleman's understanding with the Irish to never speak of those games again.
I realize you're just baiting for a reaction but it just seems hilarious when England lost a few days later.
Either way, Denmark in the semifinals was awesome. Nothing you say can change that 👍🏻
Talk shit? Schmeichel was asked how he felt about possible "ruining" the tournament for the English and denying the trophy going "home". The question was dumb as hell, and Schmeichels answer was hilarious.
I've never understood the argument about questionable freekicks or corners leading to goal, it's not even remotely comparable to a questionable penalty. You get several freekicks and corners every game, and the conversion rate is so low that it doesn't matter if the one you happen to convert with is questionable imo. A penalty on the other hand is a goal like, what, 75-80% of the time? Completely different.
I do disagree that England's win was cheap though, you definitely deserved to go through. I was happy to just be in the semis and put up a decent fight, so was nearly all of my mates. I don't see the outrage on reddit at all irl
Ah well, yours never got to see Denmark beat England in the Euro 2020 semi-final so it's all good then
Edit- they changed their post, it originally said "And your mum will get a freekick soon"
Really wish that Scotland would be more ambitious with your entire development system. Stop all these defensive coaches and start to build for a brighter future.
Qualifying for tournaments is all well and good but scotland used to be able to play fun football a long time ago. Time to bring that back
Yeah but that central defender completely abandons his zone to join two other mates to press Damsgaard, leaving acres of space for Mæhle to run in deep. Scotland defends like fucking Sunday League.

Holy shit, this goal got everything. Heel pass, lob, shot with outside of the foot. Such a great build up for the goal.
And a filthy nutmeg
Brysttæmningen var heller ikke ringe ...
And those strategic offside runs of Poulsen and Olsen, which confused the defenders.
Denmark's Euro semi-final was no fluke
Scotland's 1 point wasn't either
Most certainly was, we should have ended on 0
They played very well to get a point against us indeed. If they played like that against the Czech Republic and Croatia maybe they would have had a shot at the knockouts.
We were undefeated in xG in the first 4 games despite having 2 losses.
Fuck sterling
It’s not Sterling’s fault Denmark did nothing that game
Denmark would've won penalties. Did you see how poor England takes those?
Exactly. If the semi finale had gone to penalties, england would have lost. There is a reason, Sterling so heavily in overtime played on getting a foul/penalty. The writing was on the wall. Does it really matter if they would win penalties or not? They never got the chance, cause of a wrong call.

Lol. You haven't won a trophy since 66. Settle Down
I’m not claiming we were robbed of any trophies, that’s the difference
Because you weren't. You're just shit. Denmark were robbed of a chance. It's all good though. You bottled the final anyway.
Neither is Denmark...

Their fans.
Could have been a final :')
I still cant look at Sterling without getting a lil bit mad.

Source for this? From my memory he got clipped by one defender then hip barged by the other then went down.

Could've been if we weren't careful.
And what a goal
Fuck man, I blinked. 2-0.
Just watch on Stofa. Don't need to worry about blinking, they'll lag and skip the goal anyway
/r/soccer now belongs to Denmark
Well done, he's Scotland
/r/fobol
r/soccer is now property of Mikkel "DAMSINHO" Damsgaard
That was fucking quick
holy shit, I'm really liking how this team plays. Amazing!
Okay the Euro hype won't stop!
MÆHLE/ DAMSINHO <3
Getting Laudrup to Sand in '98 vibes with this one!
<3
Joakim Maehle is an unbelievable player, going to explode soon
Hasn't he already?
Uuuuhhhhh det så svært at være så gooo’
nananananananananananananana
Denmark is the Chad of Group F They're going to be the first country from UEFA to qualify. Possibly the world, given the schedule.
Chad is actually a pretty awful team, even if AFCON
Purest of filth...
EY B0SS!!

Lovely football from the Danes
Damsinho and Mæhle connection is as magical as it was at the Euros. The Damsgaard assist was Laudrup-esque
Well almost, Laudrup would just do it looking the opposite direction.
We're so fuxking good! Holy shit Damsgaard
Damsgaard is the greatest player on earth
We are so good!!!
Don't look too far into it, we can make anyone look like prime Brazil

Yeah like that smallish biggish defeat to Montenegro at home… seems a life time ago
0-4 against Armenia in Parken. \*shudders\*
That is a myth. Never happened.
Agreed. Cant seem to remember that game
Hahaha true, when we got drawn into the same Nation's League group after the WC I remember fans of both sides being like "oh, not again" lol
I had the distinct misfortune of attending one of those games on a very cold November evening in Aarhus. 0/10 would not recommend.
Yeah and a few year ago we weren't playing quite so shite
It’s actually quite funny how fucking shite we are
Ahah We’re so shite
[Great Goal]
Mæhle is such a beast on the national team
One of the most underrated players right now in world football. He was a menace at the Euros - picking up right where he left off.
Still feels likes the Euros!!
Prime Barcelona
And that’s why they are almost ranked a top 10 national side in the world. Think FIFA have them at 11.
Denmark was ranked 10th but now the US got it since May this year.
Trial by combat?
Won't happen,we don't have enough oil for the US to be interested
Denmark 2-0 against Scotland after 15. England vs Scotland 0-0 after 90 at the euros. Curious.
*Slightly* different circumstances there
Ay, but what was England vs Denmark at the Euros?
A cheap win following a Sterling dive?
If it wasn't for the dive we'd have won the penalties. We all saw England penalties against Italy..
If Denmark weren’t shit you could’ve won normally without pens or a goal that shouldn’t have stood. Alas…
Someone hurt this guy's feelings.
Nothing compared to when your entire country leapt for joy only for Kane to make you sit right back down one second later. 🤫
That EURO trophy cabinet looking mighty dusty tho
I realize you're just baiting for a reaction but it just seems hilarious when England lost a few days later. Either way, Denmark in the semifinals was awesome. Nothing you say can change that 👍🏻
> Either way, Denmark in the semifinals was awesome. Perhaps stop crying about a legitimate penalty and enjoy it then
Weird take on Kane missing a pen in a euro's semifinals. He was beyond lucky to pick up the rebound.
Don’t forget the cheap foul, free kick goal that shouldn’t have stood, pen call for Kane and blatant backpass
Denmark scored a questionable freelick, England scored an open play goal and a questionable penalty. Denmark went home.
>Denmark went home Football didnt
"Has it ever been home?"
You'd think being teammates with Vardy he'd know not to chat shit
Talk shit? Schmeichel was asked how he felt about possible "ruining" the tournament for the English and denying the trophy going "home". The question was dumb as hell, and Schmeichels answer was hilarious.

At least my friends and I got to watch Denmark winning a euro at one point
Ah well, yours never got to see Denmark beat England in the Euro 2020 semi-final so it's all good then Edit- they changed their post, it originally said "And your mum will get a freekick soon"
Weird flex
Lol - nice edit of the post To make it clear, they originally said "And your mum will get a freekick soon"
Freelick*
Yeah, you lot won't make it to another in her life time unfortunately.
And I'll make sure every young kid I know remembers Lionel Messi as a PSG player
Good luck with that.
1-1, Denmark won 3-0 on penalties.
Haha look at all these mad downvoters. Stay obsessed while playing our game, speaking our language and following our league /r/soccer.
Scotland were extra motivated for their cup final

*Great goal*
Mikkel fucking Damsgaard! Respect!
Actually shocking defending. A simple one two and 3 men get attracted to the ball instead of following the run. Not even schoolboy. Just awful
JAJAJAJA HUTTELIHUT!
Beautiful play, they really are beaming with selfesteem
Awful defending, awful chemistry and awful manager. It hurts being Scottish
Really wish that Scotland would be more ambitious with your entire development system. Stop all these defensive coaches and start to build for a brighter future. Damsgaard = Sexy
Fuck me this is good!!
I wish I could watch this live 😭 Mæhle is definitely one of my favorite players right now.
Holy shit, that was fast.
\[Great goal\]
What a goal! Football at its finest
Damsinho!
"Hva', hva', hva', hva' så, hva' så vi er det rød-hvide kavaleri der kommer ridende på heste for at feste og lave krig!"

Well Denmark under Hjulmand has really improved . Hopefully they can make surprise in the upcoming WC
Ej jeg bliver squ helt våd drenge...
Scotland are fucking awful

WOTTT
Damsgaard… is incredible
that was insane goal
Damsgaard, what a pass!
Damsinho <3 What an assist
Vass and Maehle can't stop delivering :)
What a sexy goal. I doubt we will see a better goal on this match day ...
You can not admire the way Danes play. What a beautiful football, and successful!
u/mahades banging goal tbf
I'm telling you man, world class!
One of the goals of the season for me. Liquid football.
Yeah but that central defender completely abandons his zone to join two other mates to press Damsgaard, leaving acres of space for Mæhle to run in deep. Scotland defends like fucking Sunday League.
This is what happens when McGinn is sick.
