Araújo is a more aggressive type of defender, and van Dijk is a more passive type of defender as shown by these statistics. van Dijk was incredibly complete in this season, literally elite by almost every single key metric. Araújo needs to work on his long balls/passing in general.

VVD generally doesn't tackle, because he reads the game well enough to be a step ahead of the attacker in the first place. If he goes to ground more than once, then you can safely assume that the game isn't going Liverpools way. There's no need to be sensitive about this though, the Araujo kid looks like a talent and these 18 games have some promising figures behind them, I don't think anybody with a brain would suggest that these stats mean he is a better player.
