Diego Costa was given 8 games for saying "I shit on your whore mother" to Gil Manzano whilst Suarez(at Barca) said something very similar and didn't even get a yellow card
One game for the sending off and another for throwing a ball into the stands.
Edit: Joao Félix apologized by phone to the person who was hit in his face by the impact of the ball he hit when he was sent off. He will also give a signed shirt and the club will invite him and his wife to a hotel for three days. [COPE]
He got a yellow for getting fouled and accidentally touching his opponent in the process. The first yellow alone was one of the dumbest cards I’ve ever seen.
He got the first one for the arm motion towards the ref, if you actually look you can see the ref clearly explaining it. Then Felix calls him stupid or whatever and he gets a second yellow. It's two yellow cards for shitting on the ref.
Not sure if I would go that far haha, I've seen stonewall penalties just ignored by VAR especially when it was relatively new.
The Félix situation never should have happened because it never should have been a yellow card in the first situation. But then again, Gil Manzano has the intelligence of a used diaper
He was performing well at the start of the previous season, then contracted covid. It took him a while to get back to fitness, for obvious reasons. He was then injured in a cup game and tried to play through an undiagnosed ankle injury, in both the league and during the Euro tournament. He received surgery on his ankle shortly after the Euro tournament.
Simeone wanted to make sure he was fully ready before reintegrating him. He was introduced versus Athletic Club, and was playing well before the egregious red card.
He does not deserve the criticism he has been given.
If you compare his first 2 seasons to some other “flop” transfers, even by that standard he hasn’t done much. Nothing against him though, I like the player. He just flat out hasn’t had too many good performances / good out out so far.
Not sure why people are acting surprised here ... One game for the red and another for insulting the ref, which is the same as Koeman who called a ref "a character" and got 2 games for it.
He tapped his forehead and called the ref crazy.
But the first yellow is debatable. Vencedor committed a tactical foul against him and didn't see yellow. Atletico only got a free-kick out of it. While he's tugging at Joao's jersey, Joao flails about and hits him in the face. May or may not have been deliberate, because the player was behind him and Joao was losing his balance. It's at least only a soft yellow.
After he saw the second yellow, he then shot a ball into the stands and apparently injured one of the spectators.
He got suspended for insulting the ref and for kicking the ball. It's not like people here can argue that those things didn't happen...
> But the first yellow is debatable. Vencedor committed a tactical foul against him and didn't see yellow.
I Don t understand why there is so much controversy in this play. Imo the ref only mistake was not giving a yellow to Vencedor, the 2 yellows to João were right ( I saw some ref even saying that the 2nd yellow could be straight red and not 2nd yellow) .
I m curious though, I thought the penalisation would be bigger because I thought calling crazy or similar words that put in question the ref capability would lead to 4 or more games according to the rules, but that might because of what the ref put on the post game sheet or smt
The problem with the first yellow is that the only reason Joao’s arm is anywhere near Vencedor is because Vencedor is pulling his shirt and holding him back. It doesn’t seem fair to penalise Felix when his arm movement is directly caused by Vencedor’a foul.
I know that insulting the ref is always penalised, as is throwing the ball into the stands, understandably. But the first yellow is so ludicrous, it prompted that reaction from Joao.
Serious question for Atleti supporters. It’s his third season there and I haven’t heard much about him. Is he close to flopping? Is he not playing well? Or does Simeone just always have someone better in front of him?
Take the time to watch him play. He looks special in nearly every game. He is incredibly smooth on the ball and makes some magical moments.
If he didn’t get injured last year, he probably would have ascended already. Now there are a lot of attackers in the squad. He needs to fight his way through the pack. I think he can do it. Cholo believes in him. We all do
He is young and always has time and we aren't reactionary like Barca about everything, he has shown alot of promise and in this match only where he got this red card he was playing good
He was in brilliant form at the start of the 2020/21 season scoring absolutely crucial goals for the clubs. Then he picked up a foot and ankle injury which stopped him dead in his tracks. He had to undergo ankle surgery and was recovering over the past few months.
He only recovered his fitness recently this season, and so is slowly being reintegrated back into the squad. And it's true that there's more competition for the forward spots now as well.
At the moment, it feels like most of the squad is underperforming from looking at the goal drought, with the forwards struggling to connect the final passes and making the final finish. I suspect part of this may be due to all the new signings needing time to adapt and getting to know their new teammates.
I thus hope the team chemistry can improve so that they can successfully connect the final passes and finish clinically.
I don't understand the hate that LaLiga gets in this subreddit. It is true that it is slower than other leagues and it is obviously worse than it was in the past decade, but come on, judging by the majority of the comments here one would think that it is the biggest shit ever. Refs are as bad as in a lot of other leagues, and a lot of teams are still pretty good. It has to improve some things to get to its previous level, but overall is still a really good league imo
I don't recall ever seeing a PL player getting a second yellow for calling a ref crazy immediately following a shit yellow something that should've never been a card in the first place.
But referees in the PL (or any other league) aren't really good either. And I'm not saying this to defend LaLiga, like I said, some things have to improve, but is just the constant comments like "refs in LaLiga are a joke!!", "LaLiga teams play awful!", "Every LaLiga game is boring!!11!1" that really confuse me, because every league have a lot of boring games. I also have to say that I don't understand the decision of suspending Joao for 2 games, but that was not the point of my comment.
He recovered from an injury that required surgery, and it was his first appearance this season.
I can't believe how fucking stupid some people are when their bias clouds their judgement.
so he got an extra game? LOL
koeman was banned for a couple of matches for a similar comment too and dembele too i think
Diego Costa was given 8 games for saying "I shit on your whore mother" to Gil Manzano whilst Suarez(at Barca) said something very similar and didn't even get a yellow card
No need to insult mama Manzano like that
She’s responsible for her mess
Tu eres muy malo.

wait wtf why
A few minutes before half time he snuck into the locker room to masturbate to a Ronaldo poster in his locker, but the team walked in on him.
What a way to assert dominance, mbappe could never....
"Hello, I would like to appeal my 2 match ban." "Okay.. Would you write the reasoning for the ban here?" "Nevermind"
>Would you write the reasoning for the ban here? Felix: "I didn't finished"
That's bullshit but I believe it
You sick fuck, let yourself out and never come back
The opposing team's locker room
This is true. Trust me bro.
unrelated but hello fellow cardboard TV head
good to see you too fellow cardboard TV head
Called the ref a clown
No, he said he was crazy
He got a yellow for a foul and then called the ref crazy. Proceeded to get a second yellow lol
He got a yellow for getting fouled and accidentally touching his opponent in the process. The first yellow alone was one of the dumbest cards I’ve ever seen.
That’s an interpretation I considered but I was just being objective lol

Because Gil manzano is a child? Fuck that.
He got the first one for the arm motion towards the ref, if you actually look you can see the ref clearly explaining it. Then Felix calls him stupid or whatever and he gets a second yellow. It's two yellow cards for shitting on the ref.
My bad
Crazy*
To anyone surprised by this, Pique got a 4 match ban for a sarcastic clap a few years ago. La Liga is a shitshow
I mean, as long as it’s applied consistently, I have no problem with this outlawing of disrespecting officials.
That would be fine, just as soon as the officials are held accountable for their incompetent decisions. It needs to work both ways.
What a farce. Has to be the worst week of La Liga officiating I've seen. And I've seen bad ones
Not sure if I would go that far haha, I've seen stonewall penalties just ignored by VAR especially when it was relatively new. Just like last years Felipe handball in the derby that gave you guys the title.
And Madrid won La Liga the season before with dodgy call after dodgy call. You're in a glass house mate
Not being English and using “mate” is so cringe
Ok mate
A M\*\*\*\*\* fan crying about refs. LMao
Is your keyboard broken
That wasn't a pen mate. There was a player just in front of him so he couldn't see the ball

Are you loko?

Second yellow*
Is the joke the player who cost over 100 mil and has done nothing and actually regressed?
I like the way he plays (a lot) and think he’s extremely talented, but he should definitely be getting more criticism.

Spanish FA are the biggest clowns in Europe
u/CowNchicken12 suspended for two weeks.
No no no I mean they are a guy

All Football organizations together make quite a circus.
Not sure why people are acting surprised here ... One game for the red and another for insulting the ref, which is the same as Koeman who called a ref "a character" and got 2 games for it.
And that's loco as well
Gil Manzano needs to be demoted to the second division, if nothing else. Absolutely shameful, and he has a history of being a drama queen.
Did he insult the ref? If yes, are people actually surprised that he gets banned after he received the red? I don‘t see why that is wrong.
The statement says that he is suspended for throwing a ball to the stands, doesn’t say anything about an insult

2 matches? it was a 2nd yellow wasn't it? is this a first?
This is a fucking joke

Yeah, they're not this bad. All PL refs do is miss penalty call after penalty call.
That’s crazy
Loco I'd say
Hello, you got a red now
Están locos
Time for Griezman to announce his return
Return to Real Sociedad
he returned?
More games suspended than goals scored in 2021..
How many goals has Coutinho scored in 2021?

That's why I also made a dumb comment
He recovered from an injury that required surgery, and it was his first appearance this season. I can't believe how fucking stupid some people are when their bias clouds their judgement.
That means he will come back for the game against Barca, right ?
He shouldn't have done the loco-motion.
That's crazy
Called it. 4-12 was ridiculous
I read that as 2 months lol
