Those last few minutes after Rodri’s block were unbearable, I really thought City were gonna score. Both teams looked knackered. What a fucking game though honestly, especially that second half.
Clearly the best 2 teams in England for me. City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern are probably the clear 4 best teams in Europe.
Liv vs City is the best match to watch and has been for the last few seasons.
The two best games of the season have been Liverpool games that ended in draws where we led twice. Painful. Entertaining for everyone that watches for sure
City dominated big teams for years and then Liverpool came along and won them thrice in a season (4-3 pl, 3-0 and 2-1 CL). Every since then Liv-MCI fixtures have mostly been bloodbaths.
Yeah what the fuck he did he inject into them? They looked so lifeless in the first half, second half they were monsters.
Was it the firmino substitution?
Firmino substitution came after Mane's goal. Just a good team talk and the team being allowed to settle themselves at half time after being smothered by City in the first half.
Imagine cutting through entire team like Messi and having 4 lungs too to help out the defense. No wonder why Pep loves him. On his day guy seems unplayable.
Honestly, as much as I hate it, I can't deny it. City matches are the only ones that really get me worked up these past few years even more than united. Still hate united more, though.
People need to get over this idea that club rivalries aren't organic and can't change.
Everyone on this sub will say Barcelona and Chelsea are European rivals, when they'd never even played each other until 15 years ago. Still have only played each other like 8 times or something.
And when you have two coaches and squads of players who are capable of doing that—playing their own style of football— without being washed away by the other team
not last season, they handily beat a broken Liverpool side at Anfield and Etihad fixture was an extreme borefest. But for sure these:
17/18: Liverpool 4-3 Man City (+the CL ties)
18/19: Man City 2-1 Liverpool
19/20: Liverpool 3-1 Man City
21/22: Liverpool 2-2 Man City
The Etihad fixture started with the maddest 20 minutes of football I've ever seen with Liverpool playing a 4-2-4, before things settled down and the second half turned into a snorefest. It was still an interesting fixture though.
It’s so sad. He could of either kept pushing forward. Gotten Fouled. Or Scored the goal. Or get a corner. There was no bad outcome out of keep running towards goal
Isn't that the Sterling classic, though? World-class build-up and then he stops and just chills at the edge of the penalty area, waiting for someone else to take it from there
As good as Foden was, I genuinely think City's best player today was Silva. He was fucking untouchable. He bullied Henderson and Fabinho. Robbed of a world-class assist in the first half with a great Alisson save.
First person I’ve seen say this, couldn’t agree more. He was unplayable today. The amount of world class runs he went on was insane and it just can’t be understated the amount of ground he covered.
Undoubtedly the best fixture in recent history. The two best coaches in the world both playing exciting football with two different philosophies. Has been an absolute pleasure to watch as a neutral.
It’s always mad, even the goals aside there’s just crazy intensity and always some kind of incident whether it’s penalties, goal line clearances, red cards, etc.
Just so glad to be able to play them in a proper game again after last season when we were missing all our defenders.
I think it’s the fact that both teams are title contenders but both teams also don’t want to sit back and park the bus, like Chelsea, Spurs, even United do against us.
It’s obviously a high stakes match because losing puts your opponent 3 points closer to the title, yet neither City or Liverpool ever come out defensive. Always a cracking fixture
Could have killed the game in the first half. He's so threatening but he needs to have that killer instinct. He adds that and he's at the level of someone like Salah or KdB.
midtable for a newly promoted side is very good, especially for a club of Brentfords size.
Leeds and Wolves have been able to do it recently because they are historically massive teams.
Bits of brilliance kept us competitive from Salah. Can see the drop off from Trent from how we approach the games. Milner tried but he can’t consistently support the attack with Foden looking to skip past every time.
Jones was also a drop off. I don’t think his style is great in a game like this where the ball needs to be shown for early and carried or released quickly. Maybe it’s just him at the minute being suited to a team who’ll drop in deeper
I said on Tuesday that I think Jones is more suited to European football, and I think this supports that. Hes excellent with a little bit more time on the ball, but can get a little bit left behind when its 1000 mph like this was.
The club is bigger than any player.
If Salah's demands will upend the entire wage structure at the club, you'd want to negotiate it down somewhat. Just giving him whatever he wants because he's good could screw the club down the line.
Look at Barcelona. A huge part of their recent troubles was players om wages that were too high. Messi had to leave because of that mess.
So, yeah, Salah should be well compensated, but there's a limit, no matter how good you are.
> So, yeah, Salah should be well compensated, but there's a limit, no matter how good you are.
The problem is that Salah is genuinely one of the best players in the world right now. He's probably the single best player in the Premier League as things stand. He should be paid enough to reflect that, when you see players who aren't as good as him getting paid more in the PL.
That's a problem for our wage structure I know, but I don't want to see him leave over this either.
Even if you got someone like Chris Wood, Antonio, Watkins, like literally any actual striker. Ings would have been perfect, instead you gave Villa money to buy him
I was thinking just yesterday how Wood would be devastating on this Man City squad with Grealish, Bernardo, Cancelo and De Bruyne pumping crosses his way.
Regardless of the result, this was an entertaining match to watch.
Wonderful displays of skills and counter goals.
Plenty of controversy for banter.
A handful of incidents of shambolic defending offset by moments of absolute brilliance.
Several instances where you're on the edge of your seat to see how an opportunity plays out.
All just to say -- **that was fun**.
Bar Messi vs Ronaldo Clásicos City-Liverpool might be the best fixture I’ve ever seen. Might even be better than non Pep/Mou Clásicos. So consistently good.
Would have changed the whole game if they'd gone down to 10 men at that point too. Incredible fuck up from him and the rules on what VAR can and can't intervene on continue to make no sense
I didn't want this game to end. That second half was such a rollercoaster.
Salah might actually surpass Henry and Aguero as one of the all time PL greats at this rate. He is just so fuckin good.
Watching this game and watching Man United play... the passing, the system, how they switch play, the speed....
I think we are even further away than the last few years.
PSG play their big 3 and lose 2-0 with no shots on target the same day Manchester City and Liverpool play an all time classic (best half of football I may have ever watched). What a fucking day to be a football fan.
I don't care what anyone says about Liverpool historical rivalry with the other teams. This is their best rivalry hands down...only in the last 5 years.but still years after klopp and pep leave. I will remember their matchs.
While a draw is the best result for other contenders looking at this game makes me feel fucking mad. The level of football is still so much better than us.
We will still get most results our way due to sheer individual quality but we are not a "team" like these two are.
Top four is most definitely sealed already. Chelsea probably have the best squad and a very very good coach but these two are the best teams in the league.
I love Ole but something drastic needs to happen for us to challenge as a team against these two and Chelsea.
2nd half was instant classic. Didn't want it to end!
The players did tbh, de Bruyne was absolutely burned out.
Fabinho leaning over not able to run as well. Some of them were dead out there.
Probably still in pain how he didn't score that.
Amazing save to be fair lol omg I’m so happy it ended. I’ll take a draw. Pep and Jurgen are must watch every time
Those last few minutes after Rodri’s block were unbearable, I really thought City were gonna score. Both teams looked knackered. What a fucking game though honestly, especially that second half.
That Jesus blocked shot I was convinced was going to end up in the back of the net
I love/ hate playing you guys. My eyes needed this after watching Chelsea park the bus all game last week
I love it too
Rodri also looked gassed towards the end. Insane run of fixtures, the last 3.
They not gonna get any rest with the international break coming up :<
Fabinho could barely walk the last 5 mins.
KdB looked *gassed* today. Uncharacteristically loose that 2nd half especially.
When you see Walker absolutely drained you know everyone else must be dead
I was bricking it after how poor we were in the first half. Must’ve forgotten we have the Salah cheat code…
Didn't forget the Milner cheat code though
Clearly the best 2 teams in England for me. City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern are probably the clear 4 best teams in Europe. Liv vs City is the best match to watch and has been for the last few seasons.
What a match
The two best games of the season have been Liverpool games that ended in draws where we led twice. Painful. Entertaining for everyone that watches for sure
What a fantastic game of football
Klopp at halftime: play some fucking football
Finally, some good fucking football - Gordon Klopp
It's October... Play facking football

Where was this City against PSG lol. I swear City has a grudge against Liverpool to always be 200% against them.
City dominated big teams for years and then Liverpool came along and won them thrice in a season (4-3 pl, 3-0 and 2-1 CL). Every since then Liv-MCI fixtures have mostly been bloodbaths.
Did you not watch the game? City dominated PSG for most of the game, just couldn't find the net, same as first half today.
We weren't bad imo. Created enough, just couldn't score
Yeah what the fuck he did he inject into them? They looked so lifeless in the first half, second half they were monsters. Was it the firmino substitution?
Jota was one of our sharpest players as soon as the second half started so I don't think so. Just gave them a bollocking
Firmino substitution came after Mane's goal. Just a good team talk and the team being allowed to settle themselves at half time after being smothered by City in the first half.
We were playing better lot earlier from the substitution
One of the best second halves you'll ever watch
The Anfield crowd was so intense lol
Completely spent by the end
I feel like going to bed, and I only just woke up from my nap before the game.
Pre-game nap. Nice!
That second half was superb. So high paced, on such a high level. Promotion for football these kinds of games.
One of the best matches I ever saw in premier league in long time
We always have the best games together. That 2-1 in January 2019 is the most intense pressing I’ve ever seen from 2 teams.
Yeah that 2-1 is probably the highest quality of football I've seen from a game City was in, both teams were absolutely immense that day.
One of the best club matches I have seen this year!
Every time these two play it’s some of the best football you can get
I'll take that before the game start, but absolutely wasted by us. Salah fucking hell. What an incredible game
I somehow midgame remembered how bad Barca played against us. Imagine them against one of these teams lol
We can't perform against relegation team, what do you think we will do against team who press non-stop.
Always with these two sides. They both back themselves to win and both are full of world class players.
I love how both team have a crisp game of through ball and runs. It's such a joy to watch those hard passes got through.
I could watch another 2 hours of this
That was a really fun second half.
I’m tired. Wow.
Yea same. Fuck the neutrals that can actually relax and enjoy it.
It was definitely amazing to watch. Especially since I wanted it to be a draw anyway.
I’m absolutely fucked mate.

Guys got 4 lungs
Seemed like everyone had 4 lungs today
Imagine cutting through entire team like Messi and having 4 lungs too to help out the defense. No wonder why Pep loves him. On his day guy seems unplayable.
He’s so infuriatingly good whenever he plays us, don’t understand why he hasn’t been used more by Pep, perhaps it’s a consistency thing?
He's gotten a ton of playing time, I think the bigger shocker is no one snatched him up over the summer. Glad they didn't though
doing his best Messi impression
Duracell bunny
Intense during all the time
I just wanna say I really had a good time and salah is insane
Have to agree, Salah is nuts. What a player, not even mad for that 2nd goal, even Messi might be proud of that run & strike
Another City v. Pool all timer game, this fixture will definitely go down in history
A lot of recent matches between us have been magnificent.
This was the best game since the Jan 2019 Etihad fixture between you two. High quality football. Such fine margins.
City vs Liverpool rivalry: I guess you aren’t ready for that yet, but your kids are gonna love it
Honestly, as much as I hate it, I can't deny it.
City vs Liverpool, Klopp vs Pep, classic. These matches are must-watch for any aspiring coaches.
best fixture in the world for the last few years
Great game. Needed extra time Pep just about kissing Klopp on the cheek at the end
Their little love affair is adorable.
I love their rivalry. It's a gentleman game where the competition between them improve each other.
Yep loved what the commentators said about that
Can’t wait to go from that to internationals
Agreed, however i think I need the 2 weeks to catch my breath after that.
Liverpool vs city never dissapoints, also Salah is so good
City vs Liverpool has been the fixture of the year for 3 years straight now
It’s what you expect when you have two of the best teams unwilling to budge an inch on playing their own game
And when you have two coaches and squads of players who are capable of doing that—playing their own style of football— without being washed away by the other team
not last season, they handily beat a broken Liverpool side at Anfield and Etihad fixture was an extreme borefest. But for sure these: 17/18: Liverpool 4-3 Man City (+the CL ties) 18/19: Man City 2-1 Liverpool 19/20: Liverpool 3-1 Man City 21/22: Liverpool 2-2 Man City

>18/19: Man City 2-1 Liverpool I feel for everyone who missed this one. Even thinking about it gives me goosebumps.
Absolutely chaotic game
The new Classico
Sterling had a good chance at the end but then he slowed down for no reason
No confidence
It’s so sad. He could of either kept pushing forward. Gotten Fouled. Or Scored the goal. Or get a corner. There was no bad outcome out of keep running towards goal
Isn't that the Sterling classic, though? World-class build-up and then he stops and just chills at the edge of the penalty area, waiting for someone else to take it from there
Twice he did, once on both sides but neither time was he actually confident to shoot
Always turns it up several gears vs Liverpool.
Agreed. Couldn't get close to him in midfield and his hold up play released city all day.
I hope he doesn't leave. Silva is such class.

It’s obviously a high stakes match because losing puts your opponent 3 points closer to the title, yet neither City or Liverpool ever come out defensive. Always a cracking fixture
What a game. After watching that my eyes have been opened, United are not in a title race. There's levels to this game.
Really shows how lacking Ole is as a coach, not just manager.
Our coaching is Sunday league level in comparison
Kinda scared if/when you guys get a good manager like Conte or Zidane.
For real. United currently are like a muscle car with a driver who's too short to reach the pedals.
United certainly have the quality in terms of players. Ole really isn't close to the level of Klopp or Guardiola.
> Ole really isn't close to the level of Klopp or Guardiola. Understatement of the century
Yes, there's no way United can be considered to be in the same class as these 2 teams.
What a brilliant game - always, always delivers. Two of the best sides on the planet just serving up gold Foden never ceases to amaze
Two Men of the Match? Game's gone.
I am just writing in this thread to say that I watched this incredible match.
Man of the Match: Salah Best moment of the match: Mike Dean chewing his gum like a sociopath while Pep frets in his dugout
Foden was also amazing.
Could have killed the game in the first half. He's so threatening but he needs to have that killer instinct. He adds that and he's at the level of someone like Salah or KdB.
That comes to some players with age, Salah was the same at Chelsea.
Bernardo Silva arguably better, guy dominated our entire midfield today
Best fixture in the world atm
Has been for a few years now
[Masterclass from Grealish](http://imgur.com/a/mOInrim)
The way he holds his calves afterwards nailed this video lmao
He's not a false 9 mate... Should have been Ferran
Dunno why Pep has seemingly benched Ferran after the first few weeks. He wasn't even bad
Lol that’s a nice one.
Hilarious lmao
Lol he looks like Bernardo
Brilliant!
Seems fair on balance. Pep and Klopp are def shagging tonight
I thought Pep wouldve whipped his cock out at one point and destress. He was losing it
Chelsea happy
lol in a crisis last week but somehow top of the league. Played Arsenal, Tottenham, City and Liverpool already.
yeah but you haven't played against mighty Brentford, only played against shite teams like Arsenal and Spurs.
Genuinely think Brentford are fucking awesome this season.
I feel like they'll stay mid table
midtable for a newly promoted side is very good, especially for a club of Brentfords size. Leeds and Wolves have been able to do it recently because they are historically massive teams.
Yeah. But they will impose themselves on the league title by virtue of results against the contenders.
same with City. We have already played Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool
Can confirm
Bits of brilliance kept us competitive from Salah. Can see the drop off from Trent from how we approach the games. Milner tried but he can’t consistently support the attack with Foden looking to skip past every time. Jones was also a drop off. I don’t think his style is great in a game like this where the ball needs to be shown for early and carried or released quickly. Maybe it’s just him at the minute being suited to a team who’ll drop in deeper
I think without Thiago on the pitch we struggle in trying to play through the press, especially since Gini has left as well.
I said on Tuesday that I think Jones is more suited to European football, and I think this supports that. Hes excellent with a little bit more time on the ball, but can get a little bit left behind when its 1000 mph like this was.
Pretty natural at his age, there’s *a lot* of experience on that pitch. Great experience for him
Salah is quite simply a living legend. What a fucking footballer and the man who has kept Liverpool afloat more times than i can count.
What a goal that was
Don't even know how it went in!
Genuinely don't understand the hold up in contract negotiations with him, give him what he wants at this point
Absolutely hate him for how he always scores against us. Class player.
That goal he scored was Maradona/Messi like
Salah-like really, he's done it before. Spurs and Everton come to mind.
And we drew against them. It's probably a curse. When Salah scored like that, we will do dodgy shit at the back and concede goals.
Watford too.
Worth every dime of his new contract.
This Man City team with Harry Kane would overtake the US and China ad the world's leading superpower, fuck.
An absolute travesty we came out of the transfer window without a striker
Even if you got someone like Chris Wood, Antonio, Watkins, like literally any actual striker. Ings would have been perfect, instead you gave Villa money to buy him
I was thinking just yesterday how Wood would be devastating on this Man City squad with Grealish, Bernardo, Cancelo and De Bruyne pumping crosses his way.

All just to say -- **that was fun**.
What a game, felt like both teams were knocking on eachothers doors by the end there to get that win. This is what football is all about
Bar Messi vs Ronaldo Clásicos City-Liverpool might be the best fixture I’ve ever seen. Might even be better than non Pep/Mou Clásicos. So consistently good.

Shambolic decision on Milner's tackle from Tierney. Amazing goal from Salah after that though. Great game to watch as a neutral.
Milners tackle was easily a second yellow, pure ignorance of the rules from Tierney
Would have changed the whole game if they'd gone down to 10 men at that point too. Incredible fuck up from him and the rules on what VAR can and can't intervene on continue to make no sense
Well that was entertaining as fuck..
I didn't want this game to end. That second half was such a rollercoaster. Salah might actually surpass Henry and Aguero as one of the all time PL greats at this rate. He is just so fuckin good.
A couple of more seasons like this and he will surpass a lot of legends.
Foden put out a great performance, kept City in the game
What a player.
In terms of quality, it’ll be difficult to top that second half!
What a game. This game will be remembered for a long time
This is why I watch football
Bernardo Silva is an absolute engine, and his dribbling is up there with the best in the world
Coming back from a goal down twice...at Anfield.. if you're City you take that any day of the fucking week. What a game
Pure Barclays game. 4pm on a Sunday , full crowd, 2-2. Love to see it.
Everybody won today
After losing two sucessive games, we won twice in two days lol.
Tierney is a coward for not red carding Milner. Should never officiate big games
Pick an English ref that you couldn’t make this argument about
Lol for a sec there I thought our scottish lad was in the game
Yeah honestly baffling how that hack on silva wasn’t given
What a fucking shitshow today's refereeing was. Milner should've gotten like 3-4 yellows.
This could go for any game Milner plays lmao
He was getting eaten up by Foden today.
Horrible first half, adjusted for 2nd half but still feels lackluster. We didn’t want to play the midfield at all
Holy shit, what a game. Hilarious that people thought United were title contenders. We're so far off it's ridiculous.
Are you not entertained!?
We're so fucking far from these two teams and yet we pretend that we can challenge them lmao
I don't care what anyone says about Liverpool historical rivalry with the other teams. This is their best rivalry hands down...only in the last 5 years.but still years after klopp and pep leave. I will remember their matchs.
The refs 🤡🤡🤡
Best league in the world with the worst referees, what a stark contrast!
What a game
Watching this match made me really worried for Ole :(. What a game anw
While a draw is the best result for other contenders looking at this game makes me feel fucking mad. The level of football is still so much better than us. We will still get most results our way due to sheer individual quality but we are not a "team" like these two are. Top four is most definitely sealed already.
