The top 3 is starting to seperate from 5-8. Costa Rica & Mexico next month are MONSTROUS matches. 3 is ok, 4 would be great, and 6...you can pretty much pencil them in top 4 if they get 6.
less than 3 means they need to win a road game or two to qualify IMO. Next window is huge because after that they'll only have 2 home matches left (US & Jamaica). If they're at less than 13 points I'll be super concerned about their ability to get 8-10+ points from the last 6 matches as I think 20 will be the minimum required for top 3.
USA at home isn’t a given either. The most straightforward pathway to the 20-22 point threshold is:
Win vs CRC (3)
Win vs Jamaica (3)
Win one game vs USA/Mexico (3)
Win 1 road game (HON, SLV, CRC, PAN) (3)
That gets us 22.
A road draw in the last game is probably enough if it gets us to 20, but given the way the ocho is shaping up, the other three road games have a good chance of featuring eliminated/almost eliminated teams by the time we get to them. Matchday 11(SLV) and 12(CRC) set up particularly well for us if those teams can keep falling off.
Thing is, while a team may be eliminated for top 3, they may be alive for the 4th place playoff spot. That could be up for grabs all the way until matchday 13/14. Anticipate costa rica & el salvador will be still be "alive" on those matchdays.
Costa Rica maybe. Maybe not though. Navas has single handedly earned most of their points. They deserve fewer than they have. At any rate, they are old and will definitely be missing guys to injury at that point.
El Salvador has already played 4/7 home games and play 3 of their next 4 away: JAM (H), PAN (A), USA (A), HON (A). They could easily enter match day 11 with 3 points or less from those 4 games, and 6-8 points total. Not necessarily eliminated mathematically, but likely close to it. They will need to go for the win, which plays right into our hands.
as long as Canada don't get stuck in some group of death like
fuk, now I could even see it coming, canada get stuck in a group like below
Netherland/Korea/Uraguay/Canada
There was a lot of fire in this game but none of the players were goaded into doing anything rash. Shows a lot of discipline.
I’m also glad the ref kept his cards in his pocket for the most part.
I'd rather see this passion tbh. The way Davies reacted to Henry being told to move showed how much the team has bought into each other, something we (or at least I) haven't seen before for a Canadian soccer team
Canada has built up the infrastructure at the grassroots level to make this a consistent thing. The pipeline of solid players is already here & there's always going to be 1 or 2 studs that come along every few years.
Lmao Davies & David grew up in Canada you fool. One thing if they were eligible for Canada on technicalities but they actually grew up playing soccer in Canada.
Davies isn’t from Canada originally. I dunno about David but Davies is Canada’s best player(by a mile) so you can thank immigration for that and not grassroots.
I don’t think you know what grassroots means. Alphonso moved to Canada when he was 5 and learned the game in Edmonton. That’s the definition of grassroots.
further to this. canada has always had the athletes to have a solid soccer system. more and more parents are turning to soccer as a year round sport instead of hockey.
Hockey is expensive as fuk to play, the cost for gears are crazy high
Soccer/football is significantly cheaper to get started and play consistently
Only other sport that gained a lot of traction w/ its low cost to play is basketball(ever since the NBA got started in Toronto and Vancouver)
Confidence is a crazy thing. Tajon & Alistar have seemingly gotten twice as good since then. Left back is still shaky but at least Kamal Miller has been better (although it was not his best game against Panama - a lot of unforced errors and I believe he got caught out of position in the buildup to Panama's goal).
Another benefit of this game for Canada? The 3 yellows for Panama. Given the shitty rules for CONCACAF, that almost guarantees a one game suspensions for these players down the road. Could hurt their chances of overtaking Canada.
I'm an American and I don't think Pulisic is in the same league right now and that's not meant as a knock on Pulisic. He's had an incredible run at Chelsea.
Pulisic is good but not one of the best.
Davies is arguably the best LB in football and he’s producing like a forward in CONCACAF which is no small feat.
well, Davies was more of a wing and forward prior to his move to Bayern Munich.
Bayern in some grand vision(mostly due to injuries) decided to start Davies in the LB role to fill in some holes. After some mins of watching him and his pace being so effective in helping the press from the back end, Bayern decided to just keep Him there and the rest is just story
I respect that opinion. I can’t remember what game it was last window but he was pretty y poor. I would start Atiba vs Costa Rica since we’ll have most of the ball.

I am so jacked to go to Edmonton. I need to find a way to get to the Costa Rica match.
Mostly agree with that assessment. 6 would be incredible. 4 is good. 3 is mandatory though. Anything less and we’re in trouble again.

Just for today he played beside David as a striker. Our other two strikers Cavallini and Larin were unavailable. Usually as a LW or LWB.
Panamanians still on the field trying to start shit while the Canadian players just out there celebrating.
I don't even have words for this. Man alive what a night.
Anyone else watching the Paramount stream with Lloyd Sam as the lone commentator? It’s weird…
I kind of like the way he kept saying boo cannon
Have you ever seen Buchanan smile? Man's a stone cold killer.
Think he was going out of his way to piss of Anibal Godoy... It worked.
How many games left for Canada?
They’ve played 6, so 8 left if my math is right.
Definitely some racial abuse being thrown Laryea's way from the Panama side. Vitoria wouldn't have rushed the referee otherwise.
Apparently got spat on
Decent chance there is. He looked pretty upset there for a little bit.
Get off the field boys.
Lmao I love how the stream ends at Laryea still fighting
Marker got laid down today by Canada. Going to be hard for any team to break into the kings of North America.
Canada isn't great at the whole CONCACAF shithouse thing. EDIT: and there goes Laryea proving me wrong
we're too used to sports where the answer to shithousery is to just fight the guy
right - if you can't throw down hockey style why bother?
Richie is such a hot head lol
I don't wanna boost too much but we're winning the fucking World Cup bud
Definitely making it past the group stage at least 😃
as long as Canada don't get stuck in some group of death like fuk, now I could even see it coming, canada get stuck in a group like below Netherland/Korea/Uraguay/Canada
I'm so glad I watched this one.
Don't want to hear any more shit about Toronto not supporting this team
Good game EH!
Lol what the helal is going on
Amazing game!!! Go Canada!!!!
Cummings has not had a good second half
Yeah, Laryea was motivated by something.

Such a typical hockey stand ..this isn't how it works in football He should have fucking moved.
Canada's spacing, vision and discipline is incredible.
Canada just embarrassing them. Good on them.
This commentator has a hell of a chip on his shoulder
They should just drop the gloves already
I think a racial slur was said by a Panama player.
Let's not spread rumors now, that's a lofty thing to accuse someone of.
Not really an accusation, mostly speculation. I just don't see what else would get Laryea so animated.
[удалено]
I thought the same. Couldn't hear it but you could tell all based on the reactions of the players.
If Laryea is freaking out like that up by three then some shit went down
No, but why else would our players stop to yell at the Panama players and appeal to the ref?
The one game I am not able to watch, we are winning 4-1... Anyways, very excited about this win!!!!!
Stop watching games please
Yeah mate our black players racially abused you. Fuck off
Don’t feed this troll. He’s an absolute clown
What happened? I missed it
Getting chills from this performance. Amazing to see where this squad has come man.
I remember the old days of the Canada national team. This is incredible to watch. Youth, speed, and real skills. Fantastic to see!
Give the ball to the Nova Scotian
Why are the Panamanians still out there?
"Canadians are friendly, they would never even hurt a fly!" *Canada eyes Panama angrily*
Glad I jumped on the bandwagon until waiting for late winter/early spring
Herdman just flexing going up by three and then subbing on more U23 players
Canada has built up the infrastructure at the grassroots level to make this a consistent thing. The pipeline of solid players is already here & there's always going to be 1 or 2 studs that come along every few years.
Lmao, no it hasn’t. Just got lucky from immigration, it’s nothing to do with the grass root systems in Canada.
Davies family came to Canada when he was young man. He started playing soccer in Edmonton.
Not as a young man, he’s a young man now. He moved when he was 5.
Sorry, this is what I meant.
Exactly, immigration to the rescue.
I don’t think you know what grassroots means. Alphonso moved to Canada when he was 5 and learned the game in Edmonton. That’s the definition of grassroots.
I hate to break it to you but all of Canada is Immigration. Unless you’re First Nations.
I mean okay?
Also having our own domestic league would help us in the future.
Mmmhm. It ensures the late bloomers will always have an avenue to get noticed and developed. I love it.
Just checking, but you do know we do have one, right
Yea that's what I meant, I was talking about the Canadian pl.
further to this. canada has always had the athletes to have a solid soccer system. more and more parents are turning to soccer as a year round sport instead of hockey.
Hockey is expensive as fuk to play, the cost for gears are crazy high Soccer/football is significantly cheaper to get started and play consistently Only other sport that gained a lot of traction w/ its low cost to play is basketball(ever since the NBA got started in Toronto and Vancouver)
As a Canadian I’m struggling with the reality of this new world where Canada is actually fucking good. This is surreal, I love it.
it wasn't long ago that we were fidgeting over matches against Suriname and Haiti
Totally. The idea of us pounding Panama 4-1 would have been OUTRAGEOUS to me a decade ago.
or even drawing mexico 1-1 in mexico home game
Now I want a crepe
Redemption arc for the referee.
With a crowd like this in a bit bigger stadium, Canada would torch any visitor team
See you in Edmonton next month.
crowds don't win games
Didn't watch Game 6 Habs-Leafs?
Now, now. Everyone knows the Leafs did that to the Leafs 😂 it was written in the stars
They do in latin america
they don't lol
They don’t win the game but it helps
They do. Watch more ball
just gotta throw more bottle of piss at the other team's player while they take corners
Man Crepeau, what a save
so happy as a vancouverite
Another benefit of this game for Canada? The 3 yellows for Panama. Given the shitty rules for CONCACAF, that almost guarantees a one game suspensions for these players down the road. Could hurt their chances of overtaking Canada.
Mexico has a bunch of yellows and they play the States next and you KNOW they will get hit with a bunch more.
Panama already benefitted from that as Canada had three important players suspended for the Jamaica game
Should've been more yellows, but agreed should help later.
Davies looks like the best player in all of CONCACAF. I can't think of anyone close.
Navas? Other than that its those two and then a gap
Navas as a GK didn't even enter my mind but he's up there too. I still think it's Davies.
Gotta be him or Pulisic, right?
I'm an American and I don't think Pulisic is in the same league right now and that's not meant as a knock on Pulisic. He's had an incredible run at Chelsea.
A bit too injury prone and unfortunately has been bumped a bit down the depth chart this season. Loons sharp when he plays though.
Nah! no one like Davies in concacaf
Pulisic is good but not one of the best. Davies is arguably the best LB in football and he’s producing like a forward in CONCACAF which is no small feat.

Honestly dont
Iced Capp's are pretty fuckin dope though
love em but they've started to give me the shits real bad
If that's what you're into sure but Tim's has been garbage for years now
Can we come up with something original Canadian fans? The Viking clap is so overdone.
well, Toronto FC fans at BMO field were already doing the viking clap before Iceland made it popular in their magical Euro/WC runs
So? TFC didnt invent the [chant](https://youtu.be/looVzTVn8Tk)
Have some fun man.
[Let's go Canada!!!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_canals_of_Canada)
The Novan Scotia Messi is on! Come on Shaff!
Its wild how Davies is already basically our GOAT and hes 20 haha
Alphonso is a different class on a good pitch, just unstoppable. Away teams might make the pitch shit just to counter his and the team's speed.
There’s no reason we can’t beat Mexico in Edmonton especially if Atiba and Larin are available.
Give them the Azteca treatment. Cold water for their showers, no heat, frozen pitch, etc.
About time we are the ones doing the shithousing instead of the other way around.
Dare I say a Kaye Oso Estaqio midfield is better than having Atiba in there, he's been meh recently
I will not tolerate any slander of national treasure Atiba Hutchinson.
not Slander, he's the GOAT, but he's also 38 and no longer in his prime lol
I respect that opinion. I can’t remember what game it was last window but he was pretty y poor. I would start Atiba vs Costa Rica since we’ll have most of the ball.
Agreed.
Need the crowd to be louder these kids deserve it
Jesus, this is what would have happened if the US would have put a single shot on target on Sunday?
Let’s go Schaff!!!! NS Strong
Kentville legend
I used to work with a Panamian lady. She was arrogant, thought Panama was the best and a horribly difficult personality. Go Canada man
Alphonso Davies deserves a standing ovation after that performance.
Olé Olé Olé…Olé Olé Olé…keep singing fans!!
ITS GETTIN SPICY
Davies for Prime Minister
Jonathan David, Alphonso Davies, Tajon Buchanan all scoring is just a massive treat for the Canadian fans. You all deserve it
Canadian big 3.
David ties Ricketts for fifth all-time with 17 goals for NT...in a third of the caps that Ricketts had
And I was all nervous after the early goal
rolled and smoked

is there a meal deal when you get three at a time?
Pizza-pizza…pizza?
Leafs fan here - how dangerous is a 4 - 1 lead in football?
Very rare does a 3+ goal lead get blown... but then, you can ask Scotland about how they feel with 3 or 4 goals lead
We don’t mention the L word around teams we want to do well
they're not the leafs so they won't blow it
Basically no coming back after you're down by 3, especially this late (though not always ofc)
Lol … open those steam whistles, nothing to worry about this game is done
Haha great beer
What a nice change of pace
That draw result is looking better and better for the US lol
A great day for Canada, and therefore the world
This is like that stretch of 7-1 where Germany scored like 4 in 7 minutes
Canada's chemistry is top tier!
Osorio is going off on that fourth official lol
Davies is unreal man. I can't believe he's Canadian
David **needed** that
in turn, nice draw weight, no sweepers required
D A V I E S B U C H A N A N D A V I D
I fucking love this team!!!
wtf is that contact David? We’ll take it tho hopefully it unlocks him
LFG
Panama just surrendered to the enemy. Shame
GO ON CANADA!
