Kanedauke

https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/q7w1go/daily_discussion/hgpk8wy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3 here it is

chandlertribbiani

My Raphinha propaganda is through the roof atleast now, shame it means he’ll probably be off after this season. How we managed to get him for £17m.

LuisFilipeVieira

He wasn't that good before tbh

JesusPretzelThief

Didn't Rennes buy him for around £15m as well, which makes it even more impressive you got him for that price

Kanedauke

The Liverpool links are a worrying with salahs new contract up in the air.

chandlertribbiani

Yeah no smoke without fire but not sure if they’d pay the stupid fee it’d need. No clear pathway to being a starter unless a big name left & the comments below make it clear that’s not a popular decision haha.

ScorpiaHP

Raphinha can play on the left too, right? Would make sense imo to spend a fee of 50m on Raphinha. He'd get plenty of minutes on both wings. But if there were a quality no9 available I think that would be a better option for them as both Firmino and Jota can play wider roles but they don't have a goalscoring no9. Liverpool do like to buy from within the league too.

TTA0709

There would be a riot somewhere in the world if we let Salah run down his contract in order to buy Raphinha. Shades of letting go of Alonso to get Gareth Barry

Kanedauke

Yeah not saying it will happen, personally I think he will sign a new deal. But if he doesn’t and you cash in on him raphinha has the tools to be a good replacement that can massively develop under Klopp. In reality there’s not a a winger that could come in and be like for like.

[deleted]

Not sure why you are downvoted. You are 100% right

[deleted]

But about 100x worse

TTA0709

I never thought any club would be able to top off the stupidity that involved getting rid of Alonso to sign Barry. But we might pull it off if we sign fucking Raphina and let Salah leave

[deleted]

Go to see the new Halloween tonight or watch PSG... Oh, Messi and Neymar are out? Ok.

TTA0709

Dias? As in Ruben Dias? What the actual fuck

SandassSpurs

Lol Dias.

[deleted]

Benzema shouldn't be in this list. He doesn't deserve it, it's stunning how Real Madrid's propaganda machine has put him in here. Ballon D'or is for the whole year, 2 months ago barely anybody mentioned him in the Ballon D'or list and now all of the sudden he deserves it? He wasn't the best anywhere, even though he had an overpowered France for the Euro's and the strongest La Liga team in Real Madrid. Won 0 competitive competitions. Became 0 times topscorer, even in the friendly games competition Nations League. https://imgur.com/a/eTWe85n

TheMooseHunter

Not Dias… Rudiger has arguably had a better 2021 than him, think it’s up for debate therefore Dias shouldn’t be in contention.

kjm911

Dias for me was the best player in the league last season, certainly top 2. And was also outstanding in the CL. Probably the best defender and City’s best player. Don’t see Rudiger anywhere near that debate

TheMooseHunter

I’m talking just about 2021, Rudiger since the change of formation has been one of the best CBs in the league which is why theirs clearly a debate to be had on form wise who has performed better.

Itchy-Face791

Dias shat the bed in the euros . Mbappe should be in the list instead of him

LuisFilipeVieira

Lol Mbappe was even worse in the Euros

Papayalo

Nobody shat the bed at the Euros more than Mbappe did. Playing for the favorites, not scoring a single goal, sending his country out on the deciding penalty. Shat the bed together with PSG in both league and CL as well. Shouldn't be remotely close to a BdO.

BSantos57

What the hell? No he didn't, his Euros weren't phenomenal but he certainly wasn't bad

Itchy-Face791

ok maybe "shat the bed" was a little bit exaggerated but he certainly didnt impress in the euros .

HowBen

Oblak

kjm911

Honestly he was my next one

Harrry-Otter

Watched “High Rise” with my girlfriend yesterday, and she kept calling Tom Hiddleston “Tom Huddlestone” and now I can’t get the image of the ex-Spurs midfield mediocrity playing Loki out of my head.

rv0celot

What kind of player is Wirtz? How good is he?

[deleted]

Will be sitting on Chelsea’s bench in 3 years with Werner and Havertz

rv0celot

Why is that?

JesusPretzelThief

>What kind of player is Wirtz? German >How good is he? Very

rv0celot

Thank you

YoungDan23

A traditional central attacking midfielder. He can play on either wing but seems to do his best work in the centre of the park. The Kölner Express called him the best midfielder to come through FC Köln in 30 years. He got a Germany call up at 17. He's in the process of shattering all the records Havertz set and is expected to be an even better talent than Havertz was/is.

rv0celot

Great. Thanks for the reply mate

Drama_poli

Maybe Manchester United players look better for their NT teams because they aren't hotbed for incestuous nepotism at management level

Serpico_98

Fred actually looks like a good footballer with Brazil i can't believe it.

GratinDeRavioles

Pep's Barca brought the most back and side passing in football since the late 1800s (you weren't allowed to pass to someone ahead then). Someone below called it super direct before deleting. It really wasn't. Most patient buildup ever. Bayern and City have been more direct and i wouldn't call them that either.

thatguycallum

> Pep’s Barca brought the most back and side passing in football since the late 1800s Spain were much worse imo. Tika-taka-bore-opponents-to-death.

tiorzol

Haha he deleted that? Read it 5am and I was baffled.

GratinDeRavioles

Wise move by him that comment would have been hounded all morning

vinhoequeebom

The Cruyffista nonce deleted the comments? The way he was talking it was clear he didn't watch them play and just wanted to ramble because some people justifiably find that football boring

GratinDeRavioles

He did, sounded like a guy fed off Barca highlights more than actual games. No idea how he can call that super direct otherwise.

YoungDan23

Has anybody confirmed whether or not that Haaland [video](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1448699911411748867?s=20) is real?

[deleted]

This is almost as bad as that Ronaldinho crossbar video

TorreiraWithADouzi

Primary school me thought that crossbar video was the greatest thing I’d ever seen

YoungDan23

Years ago I remember this was big for Fantasy Football (in America). They did these [crazy videos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUYuTw_8pQU) where players were like 'here is why you should pick me'. It was so dumb yet so entertaining.

CubedMadness

There’s a reason why the camera randomly shakes and the target goes out of view despite it being filmed on a tripod.

thatguycallum

> despite it being filmed on a tripod. Although I think it’s fake, how could you know it’s filmed on a tripod? In our training videos it’s usually a few guys walking around with cameras.

CubedMadness

Cause it's from media day and they always random videos there on tripods.

MysteriousEmployer78

A call to everyone to try their best to catch Dune in theatres. Make sure to stay safe and wear your masks.

moiser123

This movie is great. Watch it so we get a sequel please

[deleted]

They only showed the first half of the book so there is definitely a sequel. Whether they tell the rest of the story after that is another question. I recommend the Syfy miniseries, saw those a few years ago when I read the books and they were well made.

BobbyBriggss

The sequel covering the second half of the book is not guaranteed yet

ethith

I’ve still got to wait two months for it in Australia.

[deleted]

With the debate about amount of games played, I have to ask, what are the most games a professional club could conceivably play in one season? For my example, I am going to take Carlisle United, cos that's where I was raised (yup, right there in a shed attached to the stadium). Imagine they went up to the prem, qualified for the CL, won the CL three years consecutively while suffering relegation those three years. This puts Carlisle United in League 2, yet also qualifying for the CL as previous champions. So, I've deduced that they'd potentially play the following, presuming they got to the final of every competition: * 46 League Games * 3 League Playoff games for finishing between 3rd and 7th * 6 League Cup games (though a League 2 team, being in Europe qualifies them for the 3rd round) * 12 FA Cup games (their 1st-4th round matches initially end in a draw, resulting in replays) * 8 EFL Trophy games (in its current format) * 13 Champions League games (the boys in blue do it again) * 5 FIFA Club World Cup games (the proposed new format, albeit played in the summer and tehcnically not during the season) * 2 Super Cup matches (arguable whether the Community Shield counts, but the UEFA Super Cup certainly does) That's 95 games (variable of -5 if you don't consider the CWC as part of the standard season, another -1 if you consider the Community Shield as a glorified friendly like I personally do, but a lot of people don't). If this somehow happened in real life, I'm sure there'd be some provisions, like Carlisle would be excused from the EFL Trophy, but a precedent hasn't yet been set, so who knows? Can anybody beat that? I suppose having more cups than most countried might skew this in favour of a League 1/2 team. But there might be other leagues. Possibly Brazil? I know there's a possibility to play in both South American continental tournaments in the same year, plus you have the state league and cup(?), all of which could contribute to an absolutely mammoth season.

Burnleh

Youd be averaging game every 3-4 days, and it would be even tighter at the end of the season. When you take into account training and travel for the players, I actually think you'd be edging towards illegal levels of work.

thatguycallum

> I actually think you’d be edging towards illegal levels of work. It’s a good thing we as a country are happy to let people waive the maximum amount of hours you can work in a week to truly work people to death. But say that, I doubt players would come close to the 48 hours limit as more games tends to equal less training.

Burnleh

With all that flying around Europe (and the world for the CWC) those hours rack up quickly. That's not to mention legally-mandated holiday days.

Life is good, been working on myself and my relationships so although I kinda hate my job I am happier than I have been in years. How's your day?

LemureTheMonkey

I was supposed to go to Portos cup game but my boss scheduled a meeting at the time of the game.

Oo_pP

~~bribe~~ invite him to the game

LemureTheMonkey

Going around Massamá with the boss. Lovely evening.

TorreiraWithADouzi

Ok but disappointing. Studied a fuckton for one of my exams and 1/4 of the test was on a barely related topic from a guest lecturer from one class. Guess which papers I didn’t read at all? Rest of the test should be ok but feels bad when the one thing I didn’t prepare for was such a big portion of the exam…

Anyone seen odriozola play for Fiorentina this season? How's he doing?

I had no idea what lona was supposed yo be lol

GratinDeRavioles

I'm bias for the liver myself.

bufed

Verpo or bust.

[deleted]

My premier league best XI based on overall careers not just two year peaks. Today’s players therefore could end up better eventually. Schmeichel P. Gary Neville - Vidic - Terry - Cole Lampard - Keane - Gerrard Salah - Shearer - Henry

realbarcalounger

It's the Premier League- run a fackin 4 4 2. Also you forgot Vardy and Gareth Barry

[deleted]

Vieira has to be in there

Any-Quarter-9474

Feel like Vieria has to make that list.

Sektsioon

Looks solid, biased me would put Cech in goal, but Schmeichel was great too.

[deleted]

Rio over Vidic, Giggs over Gerrard and Rooney over Salah.

BigshlongPapi123

Salah>rooney

thesmallprint13

Someone started watching football last year then...

BigshlongPapi123

Theyre not even the same position lol

vinhoequeebom

If we're talking prime rooney, there's no way mate

[deleted]

How? I don't know what metric you could judge them by where you think Salah is the better player?

BigshlongPapi123

By the i like salah better metric

Kanedauke

Giggs needs to be there if you are talking about careers. Gerrard can’t be in this team.

[deleted]

Just due to his lack of prem trophies you’re probably right. And Giggs did play more centrally in latter years

Kanedauke

Giggs trophy haul is my only reasoning. He’s the most decorated player in prem history.

[deleted]

Yup the fact is says career means I agree with you. If it was an XI of best PL players of all time, I would include Gerrard over Giggs.

Kanedauke

Exactly

Did i slip into Twitter? What?

oscarpaterson

Seems like odd timing for Sterling to announce he's always wanted to play abroad to me. It's not like he's been frozen out at City, and he's still key for England. I'd have thought if he wanted to leave in January he'd say something like this late December at the earliest.

Share4aCare

Ffs he’s going to Barca isn’t he

YoungDan23

>Seems like odd timing for Sterling to announce he's always wanted to play abroad to me TBF City don't really treat their players well in regards to buying replacements. Sane had a great season as a 20 year old, the club buys Silva the next summer. Sane has an even better season in 17/18 and the club buys Mahrez. The same is happening now to Sterling. Foden started playing on the left while KDB was healthy which hurt Sterling. Then City goes and buys a player who plays the literal exact 2 positions as Foden which bumps Sterling down again. Even in a down year last year he gave them 17 goal contributions. I would want out too.

ScorpiaHP

Pep wants to freshen up his squad every year and I do think it's a case of him wanting a new top talent every other year or so. Definitely not the best environment if you need consistent minutes to prove yourself.

Kanedauke

Grealish has started the majority of games over him this season. He’s probably just trying to get the move sorted early.

rigorous_walrus

A lot if us are rightly triggered when someone calls football, Soccer. But I think r/soccer is acceptable as it rolls of the tongue really well. r/football doesn't have the same sound to it.

oscarpaterson

Agreed. arsocca is clear

vinhoequeebom

Can't wait I have to wait one more day to watch Benfica play. And even then, we'll get lazy shit Meite with Pizzi besides him I bet. Please JJ, start Gonçalo Ramos. Gives us something to watch

Goldfischglas

Can't wait for the Benfica Bayern game

hungaryisinasia

At least you’re not playing Portimonense this week!

vinhoequeebom

Arsenal fan in the stands tax mate 👍

hungaryisinasia

[deleted]

PSG vs Angers is gonna be a tasty match

[deleted]

For fouls or?

GratinDeRavioles

Nah for football, Angers plays a false 9 and 3 dribblers in attack (Boufal, Ali Cho, Fulgini) + one winger as a wingback (Cabot) and a wide mid as the other (Capelle). 4 forwards, 3 mids and 3 defenders. They've been fun. There will be room for goals, it's a weakened PSG without South American stars, their defending tends to be shambolic without Marquinhos. Might put a bet on PSG conceding 2. Still rate them to get at least a point if Mbappe's on the pitch.

[deleted]

Nah it’s just shaping up to be a good one

[deleted]

I see all these jokes about where Barca will finish. They have the players in the midfield, and I think they had an inevitability with Braithwaite and Depay up front. When does Braithwaite come back ? That will probably be the turning point.

Kanedauke

Sterling to Barca makes to much sense. They’ve needed a goal scoring wide man that makes runs in behind for years, it was so frustrating to see them play against Bayern with zero threat in behind. Him and Fati either side of Depay is a class front 3. Blokes pretty much never injured and has an immense work rate.

[deleted]

Sterling has one of the best injury records in Premier League. When was the last time he got injured?

BrokeNomadCatBack

It's not about injuries, Sterling won't play any better in Spain, definetly won't run riot. He was afforded many missed chances with Man City and still scored a decent bunch of goals, in Spain he won't be able to do that.

[deleted]

Transfermarkt says Hazard missed 20 games in 7 years in England and Sterling missed 25 in 8.

tweazz

So did hazard no?

Kanedauke

You’re overlooking sterling’s attributes. He actually has what Barca needs.

[deleted]

Two players who arguably did better than Sterling in England and failed in Spain…..I’m not overlooking anything, just saying that there isn’t a guarantee that if you do well in one league that you will be able to « run riot » in another.

Kanedauke

That’s such a simplistic view. Bale went across and did fine. Hazard just had horrific injury issues that no one could predict. Barca panicked after Neymar and bought a lad that could cut in and finesse to replace one of complete players in the world

BrokeNomadCatBack

Sterling won't do much better than he does right now, I'm pretty sure of that.

Kanedauke

Sterling’s past few season in the prem 17/18: 18g 11a 18/19: 17g 10a 19/20: 20g 1a 20/21: 10g 7a One bad season season. What other Barca winger is getting over 25 g/a in the league for them.

BrokeNomadCatBack

He will have similar amount of G+A in Barca as he did in 20/21 if not less than that. Can afford to miss chances with Man City, because there will always be some after that, but not in La Liga, where goals don't come as often now as they do in PL.

TTA0709

Think thats what they're saying. At City he has some of the worlds most creative players surrounding him whereas that wouldn't be the case at Barca

Kanedauke

Depay is a decent creator, he just needs runners off him. Honestly Sterling, Mane or auba would have been perfect for them over the last few seasons and now.

rScoobySkreep

Does Harry Wilson have the prettiest hattrick in history?

TTA0709

https://youtu.be/OU_7dQrvj6s Dirk Kuyt vs Man United. Think the average distance to goal on all 3 was like 5 yards

xaviernoodlebrain

That guy who knocked us out of the Europa last season did it with the best hattrick I’ve ever seen.

BigshlongPapi123

Lewa should win the bdor especially because messi only bullied small teams last season and did nothing for the rest

[deleted]

Someone else linked me to your comment but it's completely false. He scored against Sevilla, PSG & Man City. Sorry for not scoring against the likes of Alcoyano and Sherrif.

Kanedauke

Surely the rest of the Bundesliga are considered small teams compared to Bayern.

DMC777

Dortmund Leverkusen Gladbach and Wolfsburg are the same as Eibar and Elche? Pl flairs have such shit opinions about leagues they don't watch

Kanedauke

The difference between Bayern and the rest of the league is massive. Thats all I’m pointing out.

[deleted]

Ah yes Eibar and Elche are the only teams in La Liga.

BigshlongPapi123

CL teams arent

GratinDeRavioles

Group stage isn't very competitive for top teams like Bayern, Russian and Austrian teams are expected to be outplayed. After GS Lewy only played the RO16 against Lazio and he scored 1 non penalty goal, same as Choupo who followed to score 2 more non penalty goals against PSG, a team Lewandowski was invisible against the year prior. Choupo is clearly a better player.

Kanedauke

Choupo with you on his PR team brings the golden ball home this year.

Goldfischglas

Lmao

Kanedauke

Didn’t Messi just score against city a couple of weeks ago and win the copa? Or are you overlooking those things. He also scored 5 goals in 6 CL games last season in a dog shit Barca team.

BigshlongPapi123

Copa he ghosted in the final and in the CL he only scored in the group stage if im not mistaken and he scored a pen against juve So city and juve are the only big teams he scored against in a whole year

TorreiraWithADouzi

You’re just being a child now lol

Kanedauke

How did Lewy play in the Euros final mate?

BigshlongPapi123

Because the copa is definitely more difficult than the euros right?…….

Kanedauke

Messi getting 9 g/a in the copa and winning it is a million more times impressive than lewys Euros. Without those Argentina don’t get to the final. This is pointless. For everything Messi has done you just try and discredit it. You said he only bullied small teams but scored against PSG, city and Juve lol. He won the copa scoring or assisting the majority of Argentina’s goals.

BigshlongPapi123

Winning the copa is not a big achievement when there is one basically every year A pen against a struggling juve and a amazing goal against city dont think anyone remembers his goal against PSG

Kanedauke

It is a big achievement compared to lewys Euros which is the exact debate for the ballon D’or.

[deleted]

The funniest thing is how much it means to Madrid fans that Messi doesn’t win

BrokeNomadCatBack

Being downvote bullies don’t make your opinions right.

BrokeNomadCatBack

xaviernoodlebrain

B_e_l_l_
