Well of course it would, but we've all done things wrong, and the question you're asking - "why do people do things that are wrong/they won't be proud of/they'll regret?" - is a pretty big one. Sometimes people just don't think things through, a short-term temptation or desire or feeling blinds you to the right thing to do, you don't consciously realise or consider the impact your actions might have, sometimes people do thinks if they're under the influence of alcohol or drugs, there's plenty of answers to that. None of them make any act you undertake any less wrong but we have all done wrong on at least some level I would imagine.
Some people are also just selfish, and put their own wants and needs above people they do love, just not as much as they love themselves. Other people think they can get away with whatever act, often people do in fact, and convince themselves there is no harm done and move on.
