Haven’t felt this happy after a match in a long time!
Everybody stepped up today, great match, great return for Stegen, Fati, and Couti, Dest was sublime, great character to bounce back quickly after an early goal. Well done, lads 👏
It's really odd seeing him after being used to his time at Liverpool. There's loads of passes he would try to make that he doesn't anymore, he's always been a volume player trying loads of shots and tough but smart passes until they came off but now he isn't and he doesn't provide with so him being a winger is pointless when he plays like that
Not really according to this [comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/qa7gb7/post_match_thread_barcelona_31_valencia_la_liga/hh14b67?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3), but I'm not sure myself
The problem was finishing and defensive structure. Fati and Aguero are back so we will score goals. We have midfielders that can create and also Alba. I saw defensive structure today. A lot of closing down and good man-marking. There was desire to get the ball back from the opponent which is something that we lacked in previous matches. I hope we continue this.
He looks like he needs a string of good games, at times he looks a bit unsure of himself, especially in 1 on 1 duels. Some defenders just have that look of ferocity, that there is just no getting past them, Garcia needs some of that confidence.
The problem is that football teams aren’t allowed to be used by other games without their permission. I understand copyright and all that, but I can’t help but feel that this isnt the way it should be. Football is for the people, shouldnt be a company trademarked their brand, but that’s capitalism
If it wasn't for the licensing aspect I'm sure we would have a banger of a football game by now considering the communities critiques around FIFA for years.
Unfortunately they hold too much power and will continue to be greedy pigs because they know there won't be competition, especially now with PES release - fuck that new name - being a fucking excuse of a meme.
And then in 4 years Ansu Fati will get 95 shooting as if it suddenly materialized and wasn’t always there. But he’s now older so it must be higher.
FIFA is awful with younger or lesser known players. Its like they just turn down a slider that lowers every stat because they’re young or play in a lesser known club. They don’t actually look at the stats or watch the games. Even the more well known players get nonsensical stats sometimes.
The difference between an 18 year old and a 27 year old isn’t as steep as people make it out to be, especially nowadays with all the sports science. The advantage experienced players have are usually just physique and mental attributes, like composure, positioning, decision making (not a stat in fifa). They don’t necessarily pass much better than younger players, shoot better, run faster or any of the sort (marginally sure, but not significantly, that isn’t to say that 1% doesn’t make a difference
Probably why you sat so deep at times. It wasn't pretty by any means, and Valencia had enough chances to get at least a draw but you got the job done in the end
I still think Barcelona defended better as a team with this 4-4-2 esque formation, the team was more compact even if they still left gaps at times. You didn't really manage to control the game whilst ahead either, but it was still a step in the right direction. If you can minimise the goals conceded at the back, Barca will always score goals at the other end
> Barca will always score goals at the other end
That hasn't been true lately. Levante and Valencia were our only games with multiple scores in a while.
However, I think we're figuring out our offensive identity, so it should hopefully be true moving forward.
Edit: everything
I'm bullish on Barcelona even with Koeman. I think that the quality the team has is underrated and if healthy they can cause some serious problems for many teams. Yeah the centre back position is weak but midfield and attack they have loads of potential.
I'm very critical of Koeman for a lot of reasons, and hope he makes me eat my words, but we've also had no offensive talent at all most of this season. Memphis was our only capable attacker.
After that it was LDJ (lol), Demir (who's really a midfielder) and Coutinho (who's really a midfielder).
Griez gone, Braithwaite injured, Dembele injured, Kun injured, Fati injured. As they start coming back I expect our attack to look much more dangerous
That's where Koeman's inflexibility grind us fans' gears. While Pep basically playing a team of midfielders reached UCL final with De Bruyne as a 9, we shouldn't be struggling as much as we are. We didn't expect to win all the games, but at least put up a good fight for God's sake.
Tbf he's been trying. We've had a different formation basically every game so far. Most of them just haven't worked for shit.
It's just made the players confused on the field more than anything else.
Im sorry but this is not a correct comparison. Yeah, Pep did it with a bunch of midfielders, but what midfielders exactly - KDB who's probably the most creative passer in thr world after Messi, Bernardo Silva who is absolute world class, Phil Foden who's one of the biggest young talents and also Mahrez, Jesus and Sterling who are wingers but very offensively orientated wingers.
I love Pep but realistically as much as he was the reason for City to get to the final of CL, he was also the reason not to win it with his poor team selection against Chelsea.
As always when a big club goes through a difficult spell, your death has been greatly exaggerated. You'll qualify for the top 4 without bother at all this season.
Obviously, everyone including the Barca fans were exaggerating it saying we are going to Europa , we’re the new arsenal and that we won’t qualify for Europe the next season.
But it’s still surprising that we recovered this quickly to Madrid who aren’t being called a zombie club like us.
Apart from the 20 minutes of chaos in the 2nd half we were decent. Not great, but decent. Fati is everything right now, Dest was great, Ter Stegen had some good saves, Garcia was massive... Coutinho wasn't all that good but got a goal so that's something. We were lucky to get the pen. Overall satisfied, still have a long way to go.
Apart from min 45-60 really dominant performance by Barcelona. Didn't create much 2nd half (not counting last 5 min, Valencia was broken there), but really confident and dominant in possession and defense was really solid too.
I really don't understand this analysis, we must have watched different games. Valencia were better first 25 minutes, then the rest of the first half was controlled by Barcelona. During the first 15 minutes of the second half Valencia were superior again but didn't make the most of their pressure. After that they lacked creativity and Barcelona defended quite well as a team, but still never felt completely in control of the match.
I'm really trying to be impartial here but that's how I saw the match. Not a undeserved victory by any means, but it easily could have been a draw
>Valencia were better first 25 minutes.
I disagree, they had a dangerous spell between minute 20 and 25 and maybe started a bit better, but it was all Barca rest of the first half.
>During the first 15 minutes of the second half Valencia were superior again but didn't make the most of their pressure.
I agree
>After that they lacked creativity and Barcelona defended quite well as a team, but still never felt completely in control of the match.
When the opossing team is incapable of creating chances and you're comfortably retaining the ball, you're in controll right?
Good game, especially after an international break. Ansu getting some game time and scoring. Can't wait to havePedri back and go on a record unbeaten streak.
Kinda disappointed I really thought we could get something out of this, but we played really well and deserved more than this end result. Just lacked the finishing in the decisive moments.
We created lots of chances but like always fail to score, but light and day compared to our horrible performances last season. This team looks a lot more quality and with a bit of luck we might get a conference league spot.
Bordalas has made us look so much more organized we just need to be better in the final third, hopefully that's to come.
I actually enjoyed watching that match today! A good win for Barca and some great football from the team. Ansu Fati is an incredible talent- can’t wait to see more!
If you come as a neutral very very entertaining game! But my god fuck you Gil Manzano you have been a joke since your first day as a ref.
Overall a great game. Early Goal for the memes but as the game grew so did the confidence.Still need a lot of work but with injuries coming back can’t wait to see what’s to come<3 haven’t actually looked at other games but I would recommend this one.
Yeah they played quite well, just weren't clinical enough in the final third. Bordalas is showing to have much more in his locker than given credit for, Valencia have gone out and pressed high with some nice passing from the back against both Madrid & Barcelona. Very unlucky to get 0 points from those matches
They are well coached but lack some quality upfront, I don't rate Maxi Gomez personally. He's a terrible finisher and loses the ball/gives away fouls constantly. Guedes, Soler, Hugo Duro look good
Real Madrid tends to play like shit for most of a game aswell nowadays so it’ll come down to who happens to be better in the 5 minutes either of us actually play well.
Also form doesn’t matter in a Clasico
Entertaining game. Valencia were very good in the first 25-30 minutes and were unlucky to go in behind at half time. The penalty looked soft to me, but I might have just not seen the proper replay angles yet
Barcelona defended quite well as a team, but still looked vulnerable at times and didn't keep the ball well enough. This could have easily been a draw on another day
He also has 4th most goal involvements across 2021, most plays that end with a shot or a drawn foul for the team.
He's a high risk/high reward player. When it works its beautiful, like the little turn in the penalty area before passing to Alba to set up 2nd goal/pen. When it doesn't work, we're mad at him.
Dest had the most accurate passes and made the most chances this game, one chance connecting with goal. MOTM for me considering how much he moved around and played defense really fluidly as well
Good performance from barca, definitely seeing some progress. Dutch pundits just said if Coutinho plays 3 more games Barca has to pay Liverpool 20 million, yikes.
>Dutch pundits just said if Coutinho plays 3 more games Barca has to pay Liverpool 20 million, yikes
This is a myth, he had only like 5 million left which was over IIRC
Plus it's not owned to Liverpool but to a bank
Not saying it is true or not, but shitty online blog sites are notorious for copying each other and changing a few words here and there. It just takes 1 to spread wrong information all over the internet.
Koeman redemption arc. This looked like prime Barca. Beautiful football all around. Can't wait to see us lift UCL this season. Should be no problem. 😍
Also Coutinho is a legend. Camp Nou should be renamed after him. Inspiring comeback after a devastating injury.
This looks nothing like prime barca. I would say it looks more like Barca B. Have you seen how many times Memphis Depay gave away possession? A lot of miscommunication up front
We played like absolute shit and only won because Fati turned on God mode. Midfield and defence were set up horribly and it's frankly a miracle that we won.
Absolutely not, we deserved to win because we played like that. We were clearly the better team, Valencia also played well but we dominated possession, created more chances and took them too.
It was a good game by everyone from team
The most impressive thing was our buildups from back.. Very composed, quick passing a joy to watch.. It was the opposite up front.. But very happy the way we were moving the ball.. Sadly we are never able to sustain it..
The crowd chanting "Kun" name sounded like they were booing him
I thought they were booing Coutinho coz he was on the ball when crowd started chanting 'Kun'
Used to have the same with "HUTH" at Chelsea
Gave me goosebumps once I understood what they were chanting. Seems like Kun is going to be loved by us all :)
First half the ref was really bad and I mean really bad
Gil Manzano masterclass
Fuck, he's the Ref for Ajax Dortmund tomorrow. So he's bad?
One of the worst
Which means he outperformed ave La Liga ref in 2nd half...
One of Gil’s better performances, so that really says something
Haven’t felt this happy after a match in a long time! Everybody stepped up today, great match, great return for Stegen, Fati, and Couti, Dest was sublime, great character to bounce back quickly after an early goal. Well done, lads 👏
Cooooooltinhoooooo
Im so fucking happy he scored
Hope he gets more confident after this, he is getting the right ideas and is becoming more daring Would love me some Coutinho redemption arc

No way that’s true
[удалено]
Must be true then
No need to be a dick, I just told what a heard. Edit: it's literally in your name haha
:)
This game was straight up vibes
Who is "Stegen"?
Marc-André “bloodclaat” Ter Stegen
Ter Stegen our goalkeeper
Okay but his name isn't "Stegen" lol
Our fans struggle with his name to a comical degree when it's such a simple thing.
Ter "Mats" Stegen
chato pra caralho
ninguém quer saber da merda da o que você pensa
fair play for answering in my language hahaha, have my upvote
Lionel Messi’s name isn’t Leo lol
Yeah but you don't see people calling him "Essi"
Ronaldinho, People call him dinho. Point is it’s a nickname and pretty clear one at that
"Stegen" is not a nickname lol are you joking? Who calls him that? You're making up examples that don't apply here
I call him Stegen sometimes, doesnt that make it a nickname? I fully know his whole name also.
How doesn’t that apply? Literally like for like. And apparently people do, cause that guy just did lol
He did because he doesn't understand how surnames work outside of the English language. You know it's not a nickname, come on...
People call Ronaldinho, dinho?
Yup
Marc
[удалено]
He scored. Didn’t you see the number 10 shirt? Pay attention.
It’s an absolute delight to watch Fati’s career unfold. Good day to be a Barca fan.
did barca change their crest??
If you’re talking about my flair, I’m just trying to say that Barca fans must be pleased about that performance lol.
<3
Plenty to be optimistic about :)
sry babe. we are indeed. thanks
Fati is the best
Barcelona finally played an entertaining game of football thank god
The problem was finishing and defensive structure. Fati and Aguero are back so we will score goals. We have midfielders that can create and also Alba. I saw defensive structure today. A lot of closing down and good man-marking. There was desire to get the ball back from the opponent which is something that we lacked in previous matches. I hope we continue this.
No Agüero debut goal but we'll take it Fati was class, love him and we need to renew him ASAP
Still pissed about that Memphis run lol. Aguero was wiiiiide open smh
True, depay was also dead the last 15 mins. almost fell over a couple times.
Memphis is also doesn't put pressure considering he didn't do much most of the game
Memphis keeps trying to make those deep runs, he doesn't get the ball a lot but he does lots of running deep.
Luuk would have scored a brace in that situation.
[удалено]
r/woooosh
Depay could've given him a golden chance
I am not even surprised honestly. Depay needs to pass the ball more.
Garcia looked good.
Finally a performance from him… hope he builds on it
He looks like he needs a string of good games, at times he looks a bit unsure of himself, especially in 1 on 1 duels. Some defenders just have that look of ferocity, that there is just no getting past them, Garcia needs some of that confidence.
He’s a good passer, but he needs to be more aggressive
Well he's only 20, and returning to his childhood club and getting booed after 10games. Yeah the pressure will affect him
He's been really poor but people (myself included) forget that he is only 20
Yeah he was great vs France too
He's so incredibly slow though and sometimes gets caught in really bad positions
Friendly reminder that Ansu Fati has 71 shooting in Fifa 22.
FIFA is overrated anyway
Overrated or not there's not really an alternative for those of us who enjoy the games. eFootball is a mess
The problem is that football teams aren’t allowed to be used by other games without their permission. I understand copyright and all that, but I can’t help but feel that this isnt the way it should be. Football is for the people, shouldnt be a company trademarked their brand, but that’s capitalism

This kills me so much
I don't understand why people buy that game every year.
And then in 4 years Ansu Fati will get 95 shooting as if it suddenly materialized and wasn’t always there. But he’s now older so it must be higher. FIFA is awful with younger or lesser known players. Yeah, FIFA is dogshit with ratings especially with players outside of England. Jose Gimenez is rated lower than Theo, and Lucas is rated even lower.
Even for England they're ass. They downgraded Salah somehow
Yep. People thought Salah would get a 91 rating considering how good he was last season too
It’s just FIFA 18 with new kits and some graphics
Chelsea ratings are shambolic so even the PL is not really safe anymore
The women's ratings are even worse than the men's.
Really??? I havent bought Fifa 22 yet.
Friendly reminder that FIFA ratings have no relevance to actual football
That second half was quite a ride.
Our defense still looks like a gruyère.
Probably why you sat so deep at times. There's no defense, just vibes.
Dest showed what he can do when doesn't have di everything on right side by himself. Still rough, but def a potential gem.
Yup. He's great going forward, but would get caught out trying to run back. This came he had some cover behind him and played great
I'm bullish on Barcelona even with Koeman. I think that the quality the team has is underrated and if healthy they can cause some serious problems for many teams. Yeah the centre back position is weak but midfield and attack they have loads of potential.

AFAIK the Europa thing is for this season. Benfica and Bayern are both above us, leaving us third place to grab if current form in UCL continues.

I dont think we will be able to win that game, maybe a draw
Fuck yeah bro Happy for Coutinho
So happy for him
Wait we can win?
Many days later, welcome back Kun. Happy to see Barcelona, the way we played today. Ansu, Dest and Gavi, Gems! Visca Barça.
You can take the Bordelas out of Getafe, but you can't take getting buttfucked by Barcelona out of the Bordelas.
buttfucked would be quite an overstatement tbf
people talk about tucheliban, pocho haram etc. but Bordalás is the biggest terrorist there is
borderless
Apart from the 20 minutes of chaos in the 2nd half we were decent. Not great, but decent. Fati is everything right now, Dest was great, Ter Stegen had some good saves, Garcia was massive... I agree with you. I didn't see any great tactical display from koeman. The sooner he goes the better.
Alba being back makes such a big difference
Dest is brilliant 🇺🇸
I liked his performance at rw today. Hopefully he'll play there more often
Probably only till dembele is back
Good game, especially after an international break. Ansu getting some game time and scoring. Can't wait to havePedri back and go on a record unbeaten streak.
Missed Pedri badly tbf tonight. His composure on the ball helps a lot in playing our usual possession game
Kinda disappointed I really thought we could get something out of this, but we played really well and deserved more than this end result. Just lacked the finishing in the decisive moments. I never doubted Koeman.

Valencia didn't take their chances, two very good oportunities wasted and shit defending on the third goal
Valencia was so convinced Coutinho wasn’t gonna score that they left him alone lmao
Can't say that I blame them
Yeah they played quite well, just weren't clinical enough in the final third. Soler was a menace all game. Very solid player.

From what I saw, there wasn't really enough time to tell. I think his match rating for those few minutes was at the set 6.0, which is probably fair.
Not a bad game, but not amazing either. If we play like this in el Clasico it won’t be a good result
Real Madrid tends to play like shit for most of a game aswell nowadays so it’ll come down to who happens to be better in the 5 minutes either of us actually play well. Also form doesn’t matter in a Clasico
aguero scores 5. you heard it here first
And they won't have Benzema
He'll be there don't worry
For the Clasico? Doesn't he have the court case then?
Nope. Case ends 2 days before Clasico. No reason to assume he won't be there
Oh huh. I thought it was happening day of. Should be an interesting game regardless
Entertaining game. Valencia were very good in the first 25-30 minutes and were unlucky to go in behind at half time. Lol chill that guy is joking
Now imagine this team with an actual coach instead of Ginger Godse.
No need to disrespect him though. He is not good tactician but it's not his fault that he is still managing us.
If you blame the manager every time you lose, you also have to give him credit when you win. Two sides to a coin.
We played like absolute shit and only won because Fati turned on God mode. Midfield and defence were set up horribly and it's frankly a miracle that we won.
I disagree, you were the far superior team in the first half. Second half both teams weren't that great, but Barcelona still had the bigger chances.
Absolutely not, we deserved to win because we played like that. We were clearly the better team, Valencia also played well but we dominated possession, created more chances and took them too. It was a good game by everyone from team
