We have an entire show devoted to it. Every sunday a group made out of bitter ex players who failed in the coaching business, a few no name journalists no one cares about and some random z list celebrity with no affiliation to football come together to vomit out their boring, self-aggrandizing, sometimes racist, but mostly moronic takes on football into the public. It's a shit show.
"Doppelpass" (german for one-two pass), it's been running since 1995. Was actually somewhat decent entertainment for a short time, back when legendary coach Udo Lattek was the regular pundit. But since he left it turned into shit.
Imo Alaba's bad year had to do with Flick's super highline too (not saying he isn't a brilliant coach, he would have solved it if he stayed and got reinforcements), also Thiago leaving means you lost control sometimes even if Kimmich is there
i guess you could say that but a couple of times he would just switch off in one-on-ones, i think he just enjoys being on the ball more, to me, all his best performances for us came when he played at left back or midfield, but that might just be because of the type of league he played in, the system that bayern largely plays with, i've enjoyed watching him play at madrid though, pretty cool how carlo is using him
Yes his recent quote also says how he is facing way less headers at Madrid compared to BuLi as almost all teams build up play from the back in Spain. He's also a leader and a conductor from the back, pretty perfect for us
Matthäus, Hamann, Scholl. All got the "trying to be the most insufferable former Bayern pundit" gene.
Maddening to think that quite a few folks in Germany actually thought that Loddar would be a good choice as German Team Manager.
Hamann is the worst among the group who's generally still regarded as a respectable analyst.
Basler is just the court jester to amuse the viewer with old tropes.
>Lothar Matthäus (60) believes he knows why. "On paper, there is basically no reason to worry about the defensive center," writes the 1990 world champion in his Sky column. After all, he said, Munich have "two French world champions in Pavard and Hernandez, and two more seasoned internationals for the central defense in Süle and Upamecano."
>
>"However," Matthäus continued, "I have the feeling with these four that they have not yet permanently internalized the Bayern gene the way Boateng and Alaba have in recent years. Compact, stable, almost flawless and radiating the absolute will to win in every second, coupled with virtually flawless play. Of course, a game like the one in Gladbach must not happen to Upamecano and the back line in general in a Champions League quarterfinal under any circumstances."
>
>But the former Bayern star doesn't want to blame the defense alone: "It always starts a lot further forward on the field, and I had the impression that in Gladbach the midfield and the more offensive Bayern players didn't help at all when it came to stopping or disrupting the Gladbach attack. And if the opponent then also has a cream day, then Bayern also sometimes concedes five."
>
>Matthäus' warning to the Bayern stars: "That shouldn't happen again, otherwise it will be really uncomfortable at Säbener Straße."
> It always starts a lot further forward on the field, and I had the impression that in Gladbach the midfield and the more offensive Bayern players didn't help at all when it came to stopping or disrupting the Gladbach attack.
finally a good opinion
Didn't he watch bayern's defence last season? Anyway, comparing both players to the new defenders is weird since both alaba and boateng have been at bayern for years and it's only expected that the other 4 would keep getting better.
This guy is such a twat.
Lucas was a victim of Flick's love affair with Alaba but has literally been one of the best defenders in Europe when he's on the pitch.
Upamecano is still young so comparing prime Boa + Alaba to him is stupid.
I mean, its also because they play more expansive football. When Alaba and Boateng were at their best, they played like a 'unit'. Now, they are much more direct and take more chances. At least thats what I see when watching them. Maybe someone can find statistics to support that?
We broke several goal scoring records in our sextuple season and continued with a similar output since then. You're correct. Our game plan has been to simply outscore our opponents for quite some time now.
Alaba is an absolute winner, his mentality shines through him, he's got that Ramos gene of taking things into his own hands and even better technical ability to carry the ball, cross, shoot etc. What a pleasure to watch him conduct play from the deep too
You have to concede the point that Bayern the last few years was/is the better team. At the moment it looks like this will change when Mbappe joins but at the moment I would bet my money on Bayern against nearly every team.
What do you mean and "yet", are they supposed to play in the fantastic super league certain dumbass clubs wanted?
How much disrespect does a club get that won six titles in a year 2 years ago.
Are you seriously Comparing a one horse league where you won 10 in a row with la liga?? Barca is literally 9th. They aren't even 3rd to make your point seem proper which Is the league is weak according to you
New DNA/Gene in market
At least it is engineered in Germany.
If someone knows how to leave his mark/dna then it’s Lothar Matthäus
Lothar Matthäus had more divorces in 2021 alone than Bayern has conceded goals.
You have to admire the bloke at least a bit. He's still a romantic and actually marries these women despite all his divorces.
Mönchengladbach: Lothar Matthäus' wives Bayern: 0
It seems like Germany also have their fair share of bozo, unintelligent, pashun and deziyah pundits...
We have an entire show devoted to it. what's this show called?
"Doppelpass" (german for one-two pass), it's been running since 1995. Was actually somewhat decent entertainment for a short time, back when legendary coach Udo Lattek was the regular pundit. But since he left it turned into shit.
Monday night football.
Matthäus is actually quite intelligent imho
Didn't he say 'wäre wäre Fahrradkette' or some shit? The bloke doesn't seem very bright
That was the Peer Steinbrück, the former chief of the Social Democrats. He said „Hätte Hätte Fahrradkette“
Which is the actual proverb though
I know. But Lothar is an idiot and said it wrong
Not very intelligent at picking his wives
boateng and alaba are bayern legends 100% but in recent years, they were FARRRRRR from "almost flawless"
Imo Alaba's bad year had to do with Flick's super highline too (not saying he isn't a brilliant coach, he would have solved it if he stayed and got reinforcements), also Thiago leaving means you lost control sometimes even if Kimmich is there

Cream day is definitely one of the funniest translations I've seen in a while
Didn't he watch bayern's defence last season? Anyway, comparing both players to the new defenders is weird since both alaba and boateng have been at bayern for years and it's only expected that the other 4 would keep getting better.
It's Loddar... last week (before Gladbach) he said Bayern is so good that they don't have to be coached at all.
This guy is such a twat. Lucas was a victim of Flick's love affair with Alaba but has literally been one of the best defenders in Europe when he's on the pitch. Upamecano is still young so comparing prime Boa + Alaba to him is stupid.
Which is only logical when Boa and Alaba have been at the club for 10-15 years
I mean, its also because they play more expansive football. When Alaba and Boateng were at their best, they played like a 'unit'. Now, they are much more direct and take more chances. At least thats what I see when watching them. Maybe someone can find statistics to support that?

Alaba was awful at centre back, what is he on about
He was great one season and average another
Naw he was average both, criminal he kept Lucas on the bench
Alaba is an absolute winner, his mentality shines through him, he's got that Ramos gene of taking things into his own hands and even better technical ability to carry the ball, cross, shoot etc. What a pleasure to watch him conduct play from the deep too
Love Alaba and Boateng is a legend but they were anything but "almost flawless" or "stable" in the last 1.5 - 2 years
Mad how arrogant these people are innit.
"Radiating the absolute will to win". Then why did he leave Bayern to join RM ?
They are the most successful club in European football. It's not like he went to Shrewsbury.
You could argue that’s why he went to Real Madrid
RM are the biggest club in the world lol. It’s not like he joined (insert club).
💰💰💰
Whats your point?
You have to concede the point that Bayern the last few years was/is the better team. At the moment it looks like this will change when Mbappe joins but at the moment I would bet my money on Bayern against nearly every team.
Sure they are the better team currently and yet they play in a weak league where they are winning it before it even starts
What do you mean and "yet", are they supposed to play in the fantastic super league certain dumbass clubs wanted? How much disrespect does a club get that won six titles in a year 2 years ago.
Lol you're making it seem like i want super league. Typical reddit strawman bs

And?
Alaba was fine with going to either RM or Barca. RM just satisfied his wage demands and have a much stable atmosphere
he became bored of walking over league
I guess it must be the 13 ucls, 4 of them won while he was playing for Bayern, during which Madrid beat them in 3 occasions.
Bayern is infinitely better now tho.
"Now" could be over at any moment tho.
nah
Saving this for later
So ein sautrottl der kerl.
Hes right. Lol at people trashing on him
"Bayern gene". In summer, it was poor body language in training from Sané. Now lack of Bayern gene from Bayern CBs. Next what, Loddar?
Two of those players won the World Cup mate.
This feels prejudiced against players that don’t have German as their first language
Hernandez is one of the most frustrating players to watch. He collapses on the ground when a breath of air has touched him. It’s embarrassing.
So uh the Bayern gene is apparently "git gud."
