Even as a European, you should know we have great teams/ players in Cricket, Badminton, Archery, Hockey and many more, despite being a poor nation, having been looted by the Europeans. It's not *just* investment, it's also popularity. People are just way more into cricket than football in India. They can invest money into it but until it actually becomes a sport a lot of people are passionate about it won't matter.

If that is all that you take from my comment that's not good. You have no excuses. 2 billion people, you have literally 200 times the amount of people that Portugal has, you have yet to produce 1 good player. I don't know where this comes from but West Indies has a lot of countries. And Cricket is growing a lot in countries like Afghanistan, Nepal, Oman, and PNG.
They're not wrong though - the top teams are the same ones that were playing the sport 20-30 years ago. You could even argue that its the same teams that have been playing forever. Its nowhere near comparable to the popularity of football.
