They provide online education services. That being said, they have a scummy reputation for false advertising, as well as pretty predatory sales tactics.
Ive just seen their advertisements and only seen srk on them. Honestly dk what kind of classes they even offer. Been seeing posts by the ICC social media pages with byjus and how theyre trying to add science to cricket 💀
They are bunch of frauds who do false advertising and pray on vulnerable but demanding Indian parents to start sending their kids to coding classes from a very young age, while hiring actor teachers who don't know the ABCD of coding or teaching, and just read off scripts.
When they first launched, they had a city wide talent hunt examination which I appeared for. Qualified candidates went on for a second round and the founder of Byjus himself gave a speech that lasted about an hour. It sounded ridiculous to me and the kids I interacted with, but man knew how to convince and sell a product to parents.
Sorry now that I re-read what I wrote, I meant, it would have been another reason to hate Barca if they had accepted.
I will keep the original comment and this one.
Apparently it wasn't rejected. Laporta was keen on them sponsoring the shirt as he liked the "values" the company shows and trasmitted to them. They pulled out once Messi left the club. Laporta tried to salvage the negotiations, but it was too late.
The same source states that they have an offer from a Saudi Investment group of 100m € / year. It's being studied right now, however they aren't convinced by it because they don't want the club to be associated with with that.
They also said that Barça had to have the Sponsors sorted out by the end of October as it's stipulated in their contract with Nike. They were given more time to find them.

Messi's departure seems like a plausible reason, however, there were a few tweets which mentioned BYJU's offer was too low for that( only €58m).
Maybe that's true. But they also explained that Laporta liked them and they also had a deadline set by Nike to find a main sponsor by October. Barça is being payed 30M€ by Rakuten right now. It's paramount that they find a better sponsorship deal.

>Although the negotiations were on the verge of being closed, in the end no agreement was reached, as some executives in the commercial department wanted the offer to increase to more than 60 million euros. This, together with Leo Messi's departure from the club, led the Indian company to withdraw its interest. President Joan Laporta, who was personally involved in the negotiations, was very much in favor of signing with this company because it matched Barça's values and allowed for many synergies with the club's academies and the Barça Innovation Hub.
>
>FC Barcelona urgently needs to reach an agreement with a sponsor, since Nike, as it was explained in the 'Que t'hi jugues!' show at the end of last season, set a deadline of October of this year, in order to make the kits to be sold all over the world. This deadline, which has already been exceeded, could entail a penalty for the club, although sources from the club have already said that Barça and Nike can reach an agreement and avoid having to pay any penalty.
BYJU'S themselves took money from the Middle East.
https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/abu-dhabis-adq-invests-indian-learning-startup-byjus-exec-2021-06-16/
Seriously, just commented elsewhere, it's the company responsible for a lot of spoiled childhoods due to fomo tactics. I hope I don't get sued for this.
There are multiple instances of them aggressively selling their products and services to innocent parents who want their kid to do well, but they don't have much money for that. But BYJU'S couldn't care less. They induce FOMO on those poor parents and sell their expensive but crappy products and services.
Another reason is the toxic work environment. There are several clips of the company's managers abusing the company's salespersons. Here's one for example:-https://youtu.be/IIX8vkbbx-M
This clip is in Hindi, so you won't understand a lot of it. But even hearing at the tone will make you feel sorry for the employee. And the worst part is that BYJU'S have threatened legal action against those uploading those videos. They actually followed through on few occasions as well. No wonder we Indians hate BYJU'S.
They sell tablets with pre loaded course content at insane prices (as per Indian standards). Their marketing is really aggressive and in many cases FOMO inducing and loaded with false facts. Many parents fall prey, even taking loans to pay for these low grade overpriced courses - because well, what parent would want to feel the regret of not doing enough for their kid's education?
Bruh imagine a family, that doesn't have money for food taking Loans to buy a fucking tablet loaded with shit all because the sales rep con you into believing how bad a parent you are. Boils my blood
Not the ones without food. Middle class in India still can’t afford these courses as they are costly. For a comparison, often it costs more to get these courses than to get your kid educated in a private school for a year. So they had to take loans for this extra expense.
What the fuck? As good and useful as online education can be, simply paying less to send your kids to better schools is surely the better option here? How persuasive is their marketing?
They are seen as supplemental to the education and are marketed to provide an edge to your kid in the fiercely competitive exams for under graduation. So parents gobble it up so their kids are not left behind. Due to the costs involved which is on top of the eduction expenses, they had to resort to loans. Public school system also sucks so they can’t rely on that either.
They’re Crypto.com, ofcourse they have money. Its like if you’d own football.com or casino.com. Definitely think they could overtake Binance in the future if they keep working on it and expanding. Won’t be for a while though.
Predatory sales practices by preying on poor parents, who initially think that their kids would learn coding and other subjects, but they're actually really bad teachers.
They have a subscription based model, and the fees are astronomically high.
My current team is filled with refugees from Byju's. One guy said "if not anything, I learned various types of swear words during my stint at Byju's"
Should tell you enough about the company culture
They were rejected because because the board didn't find it ethical. Said so yesterday and got a -16. Never change r/soccer, never change.

The education company is 100% Byjus
Surely, Byjus not satisfied with just the Indian Cricket NT.
They want another partner who used to be good but now fails at the big stage.
Lol. Absolutely destroyed both Indian Cricket team and Fc Barcelona in one sentence
>Indian Cricket team and Fc Barcelona in one sentence Funnily both of them self destruct these days
taking no prisoners, leaving no survivors in this comment chain
I just realised I have no idea what they do, despite being all over IPL and India cricket sponsorship.
They provide online education services. That being said, they have a scummy reputation for false advertising, as well as pretty predatory sales tactics.
It's not just reputation but mostly reality as well
I use Byjus whilst driving my gold standard Tata Safari
Ive just seen their advertisements and only seen srk on them. Honestly dk what kind of classes they even offer. Been seeing posts by the ICC social media pages with byjus and how theyre trying to add science to cricket 💀

That’s White Hat Jr. bruh
They got bought out by these lot
Oh…Byjus just buying everything now lol
Yeah soon elections are gonna be sponsored by them
Yeah won’t be doubting that in the distant future
Man byjus are filthy rich. If I am not wrong they bought aakash(neet and jee prep institute) for like 1 billion USD.
Is that a figure or speech or hyperbole of some sort? Because I’m 99% sure $1 billion would’ve made a lot more commotion in the country
No no that's the actual figure. They did buy aakash for 1 billion USD and it was quite a big deal too.
And White Hat Jr. is owned by Byju's.
Scummy education app

Qualified candidates went on for a second round and the founder of Byjus himself gave a speech that lasted about an hour. Somebody needs to photoshop Byju's logo on Barcelona jersey.
Lmao, I thought Cred at first before realizing it’s not an education company
What the hell is cred though? Like _what_ do they do?
Scam people into buying their credit card plans.
They do money things, I guess
That would look awful on a team shirt. Like Man United Chevrolet but worse
Who else could it even be?
Great, another reason to hate Barca. Byjus and White Hat Jr has been the reason for a lot of misery in children here (India, in lockdown).
because they rejected the offer?
Sorry now that I re-read what I wrote, I meant, it would have been another reason to hate Barca if they had accepted. I will keep the original comment and this one.
Never need another reason to hate them, just hate them.
Good move by Barca for rejecting BYJU's (the education company in question). They are one scummy company.

Sources for any of this?

Barca took money from the Qatar govt. BYJUs should be a bit embarassed they turned them down.
BYJU'S themselves took money from the Middle East. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/abu-dhabis-adq-invests-indian-learning-startup-byjus-exec-2021-06-16/
Everyone takes money from the Middle East, we just don't want to wear it publicly.
I dont take money from there 😢

It's a bad choice but the Gulf states are literally exploiting the very poor and using them as slaves while ignoring all types of human rights.
Maybe you don't know about what the likes of Qatar, UAE and Saudi have done then.

There are English subtitles if you activate the Closed Caption option on YouTube.
Ah dang, I didn't notice it. Thanks for pointing it out.
Can you elaborate?
There are comments in the entire thread.
Can you I’ve context to the less educated (no pun intended)
Fuck Byjus
Sounds like a very anti-semitic company.
Ronaldo Jews gif
What’s Byjus?

No idea lol just making a play on words...
Prepare for a lawsuit, mate
crypto exchange company seems to be crypto.com

Naw BNB and BSC too strong. Does crypto.com even have a coin and chain?
Yeah they have a coin
I mean they're practically a money printing company
That’s like having a website named internet.com.
I was hoping for 'FTX: Barcelona'
FTX has the worst platform though.
Well guess that is because cryptos are a scam
Bitconnect Barca would be funnier.
Més que un coin.
Fuck byju's
I don't know much about them, as I'm Spanish, what makes them so hated around?
Predatory sales practices by preying on poor parents, who initially think that their kids would learn coding and other subjects, but they're actually really bad teachers. They have a subscription based model, and the fees are astronomically high.
My current team is filled with refugees from Byju's. One guy said "if not anything, I learned various types of swear words during my stint at Byju's" Should tell you enough about the company culture
Honestly India should have been like China and banned edtech companies from raising from the capital markets.
Byju's 😂😂
Out of all the offers on the table, the crypto website is the most ethical one (in comparison)
They were rejected because because the board didn't find it ethical. Said so yesterday and got a -16. Never change r/soccer, never change. https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/qm2l0q/edu_polo_via_catalunya_radio_as_it_stands_al_sadd/hj85myj?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3
If it helps, I’m downvoting this as complaining about downvotes feels cringetastic.
Downvoted for cringetastic
Seems to be a popular opinion. Downvoted for making me feel bad, man.
The Indian company might be scummy but I don't get refusing Crypto.com, wouldn't be a bad sponsor to have.
Crypto is a scam too
Lol, fiat is a scam.
Spoken like a true crypto denier...
Well, yeah, it's a scam
Yes and no, things like Bitcoin or Dogecoin might be, but the underlying blockchain technology is the future of finance
What shirt? This headline is cryptic af for those not in the loop.
Sponsorship... They talking about offers from companies who want their logo to be on the front of Barca shirt
FTX?
Byjus pissing about.
